Tongabezi Lodge is a romantic hideaway on the banks of the Zambezi River just upstream from Victoria Falls. Recognized for its unusually thorough responsible travel practices and adored for giving guests what they really want, Tongabezi offers unique itineraries, personalized service and expansive views from fabulously designed, spacious rooms and houses. Privately owned and run, Tongabezi combines an exclusive ambience with the legendary warmth and hospitality of the people of Zambia.
Sindabezi Island is unique – the discerning traveler’s best kept secret. An idyllic, exclusive camp on our very own private isle on the Zambezi River, it is the only luxury bush camp from where Victoria Falls can comfortably be explored. Experience the large number of activities in the area during the day and return to a tranquil haven, a thousand light years away from the bustle at night. Sindabezi Island is currently one of the top 10 eco lodges in Africa according to Fodor’s. The island has only five chalets, each in a secluded spot dotted around the edge of the Zambezi River and Sindabezi is the perfect location to hire privately.
Victoria Falls is one of the world’s natural wonders and among the most spectacular sights in all Africa. The best place to witness this immense mass of water is tiny Livingstone Island, the place where Dr. David Livingstone first glimpsed Mosi-oa-Tunya (The Smoke That Thunders). It is also here where clients can swim in the Devil’s Pool on the very lip of the Falls during low water.

The most heavenly and amazing place! We were met at the airport by Lawrence and Lyson in luxurious transport and arrived at Tongabezi Lodge 25 mins later to a pure oasis. The knowledge and answers to all our questions integrated us into the family straight away. We were under the care of Brenda who was simply the best. After 20 years at the Lodge, there was nothing she didn't know. We stayed in the Nut House which was divine with its private pool overlooking the Zambezi. The trip to the Livingstone Island and the Devil's pool way exceeded our expectations and the breakfast was really excellent. The sunset cruise, without giving away the surprise, was the simply wonderful watching, and hearing, the hippos, very special. The after bloom of the sunset is one we have never witnessed before. All the staff were exceptional and the service was absolutely wonderful. The food was really excellent with Chef resourcing everything locally including all fruit and vegetables grown in their own garden plot on site.
We were fortunate to visit the school which was in full rehearsal for Independence Day - what an honour and the kids were inspirational. Nothing was too much trouble for any member of staff and Green Safaris clearly look after their staff incredibly well as they all know each other through the cross training across all their camps - we stayed in four of their properties and the staff all asked after one another - we felt part of the family!
A must visit either at the beginning or the end of your safari trip as it's pure luxury; a very, very special place. Thank you to all the team.

What an amazing place! From the astonishingly good service to the beautiful accommodations, we could not have been happier at Tongabezi. It was certainly the highlight of our 4-week African adventure. We were under the loving care of Agatha, and she was simply the best. We also were totally taken by the story of the start of the Tongabezi school and were privileged to spend time there and meet some of the faculty and children. Totally recommend this for other visitors. Overall, a very, very special place.

My husband and I spent 3 nights in one of the River Cottages. I had high expectations, and it did not disappoint! From the time we were welcomed at the airport, the service was great! The staff was very accommodating, made us feel welcome and made us feel special every day! Our butler, Moses and our Tour Guide Obie were awesome! The front desk staff genuinely welcomed us. We had massages one day on our deck. The massages were wonderful! The food was great. We took a sunset cruise with Obie, and when we returned, Moses had a nice, warm bubble bath waiting for us! Another day we returned from Victoria Falls, and Moses had a picnic with full bar set up on the lawn for us. We saw beautiful sunsets every evening! The only thing that would have made our stay better would have been more days there! Well done, Tongabezi Lodge!

The most spectacular venue on the river about 30mins drive up river from the falls. The whole experience is out of this world. Best room I have ever stayed in (“Tree House”). Wonderful staff. Great food and superb activities. We were looking after by our guide Brian throughout but whole team were great . Tranquility of the river side environment was stark contrast to the falls downriver and just a great place to relax
This was the start of a Green Safari tour for us and just couldn’t have been better. Thoroughly recommend.

We stayed in the Nut House. Our accomodation was private, quiet, totally comfortable with a great view. Our private pool was spotless. Food was very good with a nice selection of self serve items at breakfast, and our first evening dinner in our cottage included a personal performance by an a cappella men's choir. Superb! The staff including our personal valet Yvonne as well as all other staff were exceptional. We would especially like to mention Sula, an absolutely charming young woman who was a pleasure to speak with. Our river cruise with sundowner was a treat, excellent sunset after viewing the river hippos and crocs. The private dinner on the floating dock was a special treat. We took advantage of a village visit as well as a driving tour through the Livingstone market, which we would recommend to expand one's horizons beyond the typical 'bucket list' places. Visit Tongabezi, you won't be disappointed. and say 'Hi' to Sula!

We were the only guest for first couple of days and felt like royalty. Offered a lovely upgrade to the birdhouse which was divine. The staff were so friendly and nothing was a problem. The cruises along the river were so relaxing and informative. We did the trip to the falls and the volume of water was so much more than our last visit. There are a lot of stairs at this lovely lodge however given the high quality and quantity of food consumed they were a blessing.

An incredibly beautiful location overlooking the Zambezi. Beautiful lodges.Ours was very spacious and luxurious (the secluded outside bath was amazing). We were looked after by our lovely valet Yvonne who was attentive without being intrusive. Together with our guide Obie they put together some amazing experiences such as lunch on an island in the river with an amazing view. Obie was very knowledgeable and put together an itinerary that matched our interests - being on the edge of the Falls and seeing the baby rhino were especial treats.
The staff are all so friendly, the views stunning, the rooms luxurious, the food delightful and the experiences offered will live long in the memory.
It was the perfect ending to our journey through Botswana and Zimbabwe. We’d definitely recommend ending such a journey on a high here as very convenient for Livingstone Airport too.

LOVE, ROMANCE, FRIENDSHIP & FAMILY
This place was the highlight of all time... The fact that they treated us as family made it so easy really greatest service ever. Met the guide Called Africa same as my surname so we share a name it was really nice meeting kind people like them. ❤️
A little bit of heaven besides the Zambezi.

What can I say? Outstanding personalised service from the minute we touched down at Livingston airport. Our guide/driver, Douglas, whose knowledge of both nature and the history of the area, was on call and willing to take us wherever we wished, whether it be a river cruise, trip to the Falls etc. Our personal valet, Veronica, was always ready and smiling whether it was for drinks on the deck or towels and tea at the pool. The food was excellent, and the chef even went to the bother of preparing us special Zambian dishes of Mopani worms and Kapenta our final the night, which my partner had specially requested. The lodge is at a lovely location on the banks of the Zambezi, each cottage has a deck overlooking the river and set apart in the lovely lodge grounds. The lodge has its own organic vegetable garden to supply the lodge, and I spent a delightful morning with the head gardener exploring the grounds. Quite frankly I can't wait to return.

We recently had a chance to stay at Tongabezi and our stay was incredible! The location is beautiful. I think they must have the best views over the Zanbezi that I have seen. The staff are wonderful and friendly. Yvonne was our helper and she was just the BEST! So friendly I don't think I'll forget her smile. We did fun boat rides with Felix who is amazing. The hippo sightings are great! Their food was good but could use a bit of a revamp to make it extra special and elevated as most people are just relaxing and eating so the food and beds/rooms should be amazing! Rooms were great. Loved the bathrooms mostly. And their focus on being super environmentally conscious.
