Travel Date: February 28, 2025
I had an amazing luxury picnic experience with my gf hosted by Godwin! We had such a great time, view was unbelievable and we had the whole garden for ourselves, with ocean and Mountain View. Godwin is the best in Hospitality! Thanks and will definitely recommend this luxury picnic.

Our room was stunning overlooking the sea with a very large terrace. We did have a couple of issues, one in particular was very annoying , however the staff were fantastic. A maintenance team arrived within a couple of hours to resolve the problem perfectly. The management went over and above to ensue we were happy.
Fantastic service from everyone and nothing is too much trouble.
Food especially breakfast is excellent and ,of course, the scenery just amazing!

Spectacular views with the most attentive staff …. This is one of the hotels biggest selling points - the people.
Big thank you to Angus and the whole team of staff at the hotel who made us stay very special
Breakfast was delicious as well food in the restaurant.
We stayed in a milkwood room, which was fine, but a little dated in areas and no view
Definitely recommend booking a Seaview if possible.
Definitely would come back.

12A was simply incredible. The first thing that comes to mind with 12A is the sensational views. The location of the property was magnificent (acknowledging we rented a car) as it was far enough away from the hustle & bustle of Camps Bay, V&A or Table Mountain but close enough to get there in no time. We thought the décor of the hotel was very unique and “classic old fashion” and enjoyed our large breakfast with a great view.
We also really enjoyed the free snacks, water & wine bottle in our hotel room! One other very nice touch was our flight wasn’t until 9pm and they allowed us to use their spa to shower before we left for the airport.
While 12A is not cheap, we did find a much cheaper rate on Agoda (Classic Room) than on 12A’s website. The room was quite small (probably because we booked on Agoda) but when you are exploring most of the day or using the great facilities at 12A, it didn’t matter to us at all! We would definitely try to stay at 12 Apostles when we come back to Cape Town!

The hotel is located just outside Camps Bay and I would describe it as a Boutique luxury hotel. We were contacted in advance of our stay to organise transfers, book excursions and restaurants, we were able to specify what types of pillow we wanted and whether we had any special requirements. It was great service and very well organised. When we arrived at the hotel we were given a very warm welcome, a welcome drink and a tour of the hotel. We were able to check in to our room early and our bags were already in our room when we got there. We had a Milkwood room overlooking the pool which was very comfortable
Other positives
- great wifi right across the hotel
- the concierge is great at getting you a table with a fantastic view at any restaurant and he also organised a driver for us who took us on an amazing tour of the wine district and Boulders Beach (penguin colony)
- Azure restaurant has the most spectacular views of the sunset and ocean - it's very special and the restaurant burst into applause when a young gentlemen proposed to his girlfriend while we were there
- Leopard Bar also has amazing views and the best cocktails
- the pool is compact but we always managed to get a sun lounger (with very comfortable cushions)
- service everywhere was amazing, the staff knew what you wanted before you did
I can't think of any negatives.
We had initially been concerned that the hotel was a little out of the way so we decided to stay in 2 hotels during our visit to Cape Town (the other being at the V&A Waterfront). We needn't have worried as the hotel shuttle goes every hour to Camps Bay and to the V&A waterfront and picks up until quite late. We had the most fantastic, friendly shuttle driver called Lulu and he made sure we always got back to the hotel no matter where we were going. The hotel even dropped us off at our next hotel. The shuttle is free of charge and is a great perk of staying at the hotel. As well as Azure restaurant in the hotel you could try Bilboa in Camps Bay and Karibu at the V&A Waterfront. The Veranda at the Mount Nelson was also very good.
If you are going to Cape Town then I would highly recommend staying here - we will definitely be back

The receptionist at the SPA was about to over charge us and had to remind her that we had prepaid 50%. At all times was advised we were able to swop a swedish massage for eg a deep tissue variance. Not once were we advised the extra fee. How nice it was to be told on departure in front of my wife on our anniversary, to pay extra for the change. It was most embarrassing and unexpected. Paid and left with a bad taste. Unprofessional and deceitful communication comes to mind

We are staying at the 12 Apostles this week. The team that are looking after us have, without exception, been professional, friendly, helpful and engaging. Justin checked us in efficiently and gave us all the information we needed and answered all of our questions. Imraan, on the concierge team, arranged a variety of activities for us and gave recommendations for restaurants which we appreciated. He was also fun to talk to. Byron in The Leopard Bar is a legend, whipping out his guitar and serenading us on a regular basis as well as engaging in friendly banter about the football results. We had dinner in the Azure restaurant tonight and Theo looked after us all evening. He arranged an “off menu” item that I requested and it was no problem at all. He was knowledgeable about the menu and the wines. He addressed us by our names, (which impressed me enormously), and was friendly, fun and attentive throughout. He gave me the impression that he really enjoyed his job, took pride in his work and was keen to be the best! Our food was delicious, langoustines and rib eye steak tonight, and our breakfasts and lunches have all been superb too. The restaurant manager tonight was Thambi and we really enjoyed a wide ranging and entertaining conversation with her this evening. We are really enjoying our stay here and have a few more days left in the hotel. 😊

I would not call this a 5 star hotel, Also, not accessible to Camps Bay except by hotel transfer van

We were anticipating a luxurious stay here at the end of our three week S African trip. We were sadly disappointed. First - be aware that the hotel is not in Camps Bay.
It is situated by itself on the windy road - you cannot walk to any other place.
Our experience: On arrival we were delivered through the garage and the hotel delivery and staff entrances because our transfer service was a van (Although the hotel van can use the main entrance). Then we asked the concierge to show us our rooms because we were considering upgrading. She must have been new because she led us up and down several stairs and corridors without finding our rooms. I read the room signs and showed her where we should be going - NOT A GOOD START! Rooms were fine, but a long trek down hallways and stairs with god awful striped, worn carpet that looked like something you would find at Motel 6. Breakfast was good, but two of three mornings had to wait over 15 minutes for a cup of coffee, and the third morning they failed to deliver a coffee within 30 minutes despite three requests (never got it because we had to leave). Didnt receive any turndown service on last night. Laid out by the pool, waited over an hour before there was any staff to get a drink there. This hotel better get its staffing issues together or they wont be there for long. Compared to our stay at the Fancourt Manor House, this was a 1 star hotel!

We recently celebrated my wife's birthday, and the experience was nothing short of extraordinary. From the seamless booking process with Sylvia to the thoughtful extra care provided by Teboho when I had concerns about the weather, every detail was handled with exceptional service. Teboho went above and beyond to reassure me and ensure the mountain picnic would be special, even if the rain had interfered. Thankfully, the weather was perfect, allowing us to enjoy breathtaking views and impeccable service from Godwin, who took care of us from start to finish. My wife is still talking about the thoughtful gift she received at the end of the day. Thank you to the entire 12A team for making this a memorable experience—one we will cherish forever!

From the pick up at the airport to check in and check out, the service at this hotel is incredible. The staff - housekeeping, waiting, cabana, front desk, concierge - are all extremely friendly and attentive. There was nothing they couldn't sort out. Every meal I ate at this hotel was great - from the high end Azure Restaurant to the breakfast - also, the Leopard bar atmosphere is great. I am not a huge fan of views but the view from the Leopard Bar at sunset is beautiful. Lovely Negroni mixed by the bar tenders and a very accommodating Hostess. Loulou, the driver took us to Restaurants in Camps Bay and was always there when he said he would be to pick us up to go back to the hotel. Imran, very kindly took me out cycling on the complimentary mountain bikes and showed me all the local routes. We will return to Cape Town, as there is so much to do, and will only stay at 12 Apostles.

The Azure Restaurant for evening dinner. Out waitress Rebecca was absolutely first class. She was very knowledgeable about the South African wines and helped us choose a lovely SA bubbly to go with our oysters. Unfortunately, my husbands main course The King clip was just enough for a six year old! It was tasteless and greasy, pan fried and oily. The dessert of rice pudding was lovely. When Rebecca asked us about the meal, my husband, who never complains, mentioned his tasteless but expensive King clip, no one from the kitchen came out and apologised or offered to reduce the bill! We always like to leave a 10 % in cash to our server. However, we noticed on the bill, that a 12.5% service charge had already been added. Rebecca who looked after us should get this and not the hotel. Customers should not be expected to pay for a service twice! Poor show from The 12 Apostles management. Don't rip off your customers. Finally, we we're waiting for our Ubber, when Pippa the night's manager asked us about our evening. My husband informed her about our experience. She said she would make sure that Rebecca would get the 12.5% service charge and look into the poor fish main course. I don't think we would go there again, since Cape Town has some fantastic restaurants, who offer value for money.
