Wonderful hotel! Location is great and rooms were lovely. We stayed in the Junior Suite which had plenty room, and the bathrooms were lovely. The staff was very friendly, we got great recommendations from Spiro on where to eat and go for activities. The view from our room was nice, and the rooms can get toasty which is great given the cold Chicago weather.
Highly recommend this hotel. We didn’t eat breakfast, lunch or dinner at the hotel’s restaurant so can’t speak towards that. Lastly, the neighborhood was pretty quite at night so no late night disturbances.

We absolutely loved our 5-night stay at the Royal Sonesta River North. Perfect neihbourhood, walking distance to literally everything and some extraordinary restaurants - location is amazing!
Highly recommend this hotel, it’s got great up to date cozy decor. We were welcome with a lovely Happy Annoverrary balloon, bottle of wine, chocolates and a card since we were celebrating our anniversary that weekend and it was our first time to Chicago!
The staff, including Mike, Spiro, the ladies at the front desk and truly all of the security and team at the hotel were so lovely, friendly and helpful all weekend long.
Our room was a suite with a giant hot tub, shower and king bed. Each night they provided turn down with chocolates and always made sure we had fresh water bottles. We found our room a bit dry since the heat was on and they were able to bring us a humidifier.
Each morning they offered coffee and tea in the lounge area and we found the location great, an easy stay with top notch service and all around highly recommend this hotel. We absolutely would stay here again!

Spiro was a super welcoming face entering your property. He went out of his way to make it a great experience for us both on our check-in and in our checkout.
The beds were hard and uncomfortable, the Internet didn’t work the first day we were there, but did work the second day and the telephone didn’t work in our room so those attention to detail items should’ve been called out and fixed before we arrived. However, the staff was super friendly, and Spiro left us with a great impression of the hotel.

We had the pleasure of staying at the Royal Sonesta River North Chicago over Valentine’s Day weekend, and our experience was made even better thanks to Spiro. From the moment we arrived, he was incredibly kind and attentive, helping us with our luggage and offering fantastic restaurant recommendations. In hindsight, we truly wish we had taken his advice!
Despite our packed schedule, Spiro’s hospitality stood out. The next day, when we told him we should have listened to his dining suggestions, he had a great sense of humor about it. He also went above and beyond to ensure our departure was seamless, assisting with our bags and even offering to arrange transportation.
Spiro’s exceptional service and warm personality truly elevated our stay. Every establishment needs a person like him! If you’re visiting, take his recommendations seriously—we definitely will next time! :D
Thank you, Spiro, for everything!

Very nice pool area and exercise/workout facility. Best part was the wonderful restaurant with outstanding service from Edgar. He went above and beyond.
Some setbacks but overall great!

Hotel is in a fantastic location, especially for its price. Rooms are spacious and accommodating. Beware there are no microwaves though. The only thing stopping me from rating 5 stars is fact that we ended up finding a bunch of used condom wrappers (hopefully just wrappers) behind the TV and one young lady at the front desk had a very unwelcoming attitude. Everyone else was great and I wouldn't allow these unique experiences to stop you from going as the hotel and its service and almost all of its employees were great!

Our entire stay at Royal Sonesta RN was exceptional. And Edgar (along with everyone else in the restaurant) at CBR was phenomenal! Just the right balance of service, privacy, comfort, and security. Convenient access to the Green and Red lines.

Wow. This was by far one of the absolute best hotel stays I have had in a decade of travels. We came here for our anniversary, and the staff went above and far beyond my expectations.
We were upgraded, without asking, to a spa suite which was so kind and generous. I had only asked that the original room I booked be well stocked, and they went all out! I was completely blown away. The room was gorgeous, amenities were thoughtful (the jacuzzi was the best part!), and the service was outstanding across the board. My partner and I felt so spoiled. Everyone we encountered wished us a Happy Anniversary as well which was so very sweet!
On a personal note, as a visibly queer and interracial couple, we are always aware that we may be discriminated against when we travel together and have been many times, but everyone here treated us with the greatest respect and kindness, and it felt genuine and sincere. We have never been treated so well before! I absolutely recommend this hotel as a good spot for other LGBTQ+ travellers.
I also want to specifically recognise Spiro! He was incredibly kind, respectful, and helpful. Our comings and goings from the hotel were definitely brightened when he was at the door!
This hotel made our stay in Chicago unforgettable and wouldn’t have been the same without it! Thank you all so much!

The best thing about this place was the staff who really made you feel at home- they didn’t feel too corporate, just genuinely kind. Edgar was amazing as our waiter each day at the restaurant and we shared great conversation with him, great guy. Nate at the bar was very friendly as well and made us exceptional unique cocktails like the Mai Tai which I highly recommend. Furthermore, they were quick to resolve a payment issue we had at the end of our stay. Amazing hotel, we’ll be back

Royal Sonesta offered a great staycation. We stayed there for 5 nights and had a wonderful stay. Below are the highlights:
1. The check in and check out process is very smooth.
2. Hotel needs $100 of security depoist for each night stay.
3. It is very close by to river walk(10 mins walk), Michigan Eve, Trump tower(10 mins walk), Navy pier(20 mins walk).
4.Starbucks, india town, Einstein bros are at 5 mins walk.
5. They have vallet parking services
6. They do provide free water.
7. They have best terrace view of chicago.
Only downside of our stay was because of some nuisance created by people staying in front of the hotel but it was not fault of hotel and they responded well.

This is an excellent hotel situated in the heart of downtown Chicago, conveniently located near numerous restaurants, the subway station, and within walking distance of Uber and taxi services. The hotel maintains a clean and hygienic environment, with a friendly and attentive front desk and housekeeping staff. The rooms are reasonably sized and offer a comfortable stay.
However, I have a concern regarding the distribution of tips left for the hardworking housekeeping maid. It appears that the tips I left did not directly reach the intended maid, but rather the supervisor. I would prefer to tip directly to the maid or for the hotel to ensure that any tips left by guests are directed to the appropriate housekeeper.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Good visit. Clean hotel in a great location. Red line right across the street and near to the river and magnificent mile. Restaurant on site is very nice. Downside is the pool has been shut down by the city, ice machine did not work, and our headboard was in bad shape. Not what you would expect from a hotel of this stature. 17th floor terrace was beautiful but closes at 10 pm, so not a lot of time to enjoy the night skyline during the summer. Great lobby and awesome patio out front for relaxing. It was $78 to park my car, but not unusual for downtown Chicago. I did see self park options down the street for $45.

Overall, I'd say this is a decent place to stay in Chicago. Somewhere in between 3 and 4 stars.
Pros: The staff is kind and helpful, the lobby and entrance are nice and quaint. The fruit infused water is delicious, especially on a hot summer day. The space of the king bed suites are nice and the rooms w/suites attached are pretty spacious. The Magnificent Mile, the river walk, and good food are just a short walk away.
Con: We arrived after work at 10pm only to learn that they were already at capacity due to a plumbing issue that made half of the rooms uninhabitable. Upon further questioning, we learned that this had been an issue for 2 days but we weren't notified of it, even after we called earlier that day to notify them of the late arrival. They placed us in a makeshift room from the living room that was connected to someone else's room with a pullout bed. Not the worst thing to ever happen, but definitely not ideal. The only thing that made it okay is the staff's commitment to upgrading our room the next day, not charging for that night's stay, and a complimentary bottle of wine. This is the main reason I'm giving the 4 stars b/c they did right the wrong. Also, before entering the upgraded room, they were installing tv's that afternoon so we actually couldn't use our room for an hour and a half.
Not a bad hotel at all and I commend them on pivoting and rectifying the situation, but the communication could stand to be improved on things that impact the guest. Some of the upholstery could stand to be repaired in the rooms as well.
