We spent 4 nights here before meeting our travel group for WWII History trip in Honolulu. I booked here because we wanted to be far from the traffic and crowds of Waikiki and we enjoyed our stay. The setting is amazing ….beautiful undeveloped coastline as far as the eye can see. Lots of trails for walking or bike riding. The resort is huge and we were lucky that it wasn’t fully booked and didn’t feel crowded. Never a problem getting lounge chairs at the pool. We had an ocean front king room in the south wing …great balcony overlooking the pool and ocean, comfortable bed, plenty of storage. Clean and daily housekeeping. We paid for Ocean Club Access and enjoyed access to the lounge and daily breakfast and lunch spreads ….and a before dinner glass of wine. We ate in all the onsite restaurants ….pricey as to be expected but food and service was good. All in all a relaxing 4 days!

We visited the beach as part of an island tour and this is where we stopped to snorkel. The staff who were manning the beach stand were quite rude and lacking any type of customer service. I asked if there was any locker rentals and they said no and that the beach is "mostly safe". So I said if someone steals my cash it's oh well? And they responded yes. For a Ritz Carlton I would expect more. It would also be a very easy money maker. I also scratched my leg on a reef and it was bleeding. All they could offer me was 3 band-aids. No alcohol wipes or kleenex. Had to go to the washroom for toilet paper.... the bathrooms had alot left to be desired. Multiple tours stop here and a few of us were baffled at the lack of stalls and how gross they were.

It is a physically beautiful property with stunning views. The physical set-up and common areas are spectacular. However, it is certainly not a “Ritz-Carlton” experience — even though they charge Ritz-Carlton prices. It’s big, crowded and loud with lots of kids and lots of lines. Dining reservations were necessary everywhere. The service is generally indifferent — with a few exceptions. The towels are thin and pools are crowded. It is more like a higher end Disney property. Nice in its own way — but not what my wife and I were looking for on this trip. We had one particular noise problem with the room that was met with shrugs by multiple staff. But to his significant credit, Ryan Kelly, Rooms Executive, went way out of his way (with the housekeeping staff) to get it fixed. THAT was Ritz-Carlton service, and we were very grateful for it.

It’s been many years since we had the pleasure of being at The Turtle Bay Resort. The vision and revitalization of this beautiful property under The Ritz-Carlton banner is fantastic. The moment you enter, you realize that you’ve arrived somewhere very special. The wide open spaces and lobby views are spectacular. Casual elegance are just two of many words that can describe the hotel. As a Lifetime Titanium, we appreciate a premium property and location like this. The redesigned rooms, restaurants and pool areas are all fantastic, and they maximize your outlooks in every location. Special thanks to Lani, Alfonso and to GM Doug Chang for taking such good care of us. We look forward to our next visit; which we’re already planning, which likely includes a bungalow:)

If you've never been to this property let me give you some background. It is located in a beautiful spot. Thus everyone who lives on the island plus those on vacation enjoy the location. It is easily accessible by car to anyone who lives on Oahu. There is also a bus stop along the highway at the entrance to the property. The ample free parking is available to all Oahu residents. By the looks of the trashy cars parked in the parking lot it appears MANY locals drive up to spend the day.. The property is not fenced so anyone (along with their cousins, friends, schoolmates) can drive up and spend the day. What could go wrong? Expect screaming kids everywhere, multiple cousin Eddie's from the movie Christmas vacation, twenty somethings with coolers, surfboards and dogs in tow, 3 generations of families hogging pool chairs, etc. If you think you will be enjoying the resort with only people who paid $1,000 per night, think again. Those people will be there too but you'll also be elbow to elbow with the trailer park gang. No thanks!

We had the perfect experience at the Ritz Carlton at Turtle Bay. First, the natural beauty of its location is unsurpassed. There are nature trails through the forest that take you to hidden beaches, and every room in the hotel has a view of the ocean. We had ocean front connecting rooms, which were beautiful. The recent renovation of the property was transformative and all rooms are fresh and updated. The common spaces are open and airy, with high ceilings and views of the water from every direction. But of particular note is the incredible service at this property. Whatever you need is at your fingertips and the staff are uniformly friendly and supportive. The vibe is informal, which is our style, and the service is never intrusive nor is there a sense that those who are helping you are simply in it for the tip. A particular commendation is deserved by the VIP manager, Alfonso Arcolas. He anticipated our every need, and when we had a small issue, he solved it in a creative manner. He really went the extra mile for us. Glenda was our housekeeper for the week and she was so kind and couldn’t do enough for us. Taylor in housekeeping helped me to recover a lost bracelet. Angel at the front desk was welcoming upon our arrival. Darei at the pool was fantastic, and I had a wonderful pedicure with Jessie in the spa. Many thanks to our travel agent, Richie Massa of Whatahotel for working with the property to find us the perfect rooms. They were among the most beautiful rooms we have ever stayed in, including in any property throughout Hawaii and its outer islands. We will be back!

Day 1 started out very well with a friendly and helpful greeting from Sean at the front entrance. He quickly took care of our car and directions to check in. Check in was also wonderful with friendly service, Leis and clear room directions and check in. We were told we had to pay $40/day for parking. I have since heard that it is free at beach access and mixed information on whether it would be towed over night. Upon arriving at our room, the phone was ringing, as I ran to answer, I hit my toe on the corner of the base of the bed that was sticking out, and believe I broke it. I mentioned it to the manager and showed a picture of the bed and the base, and was told this is normal and he offered me ice to be brought to my room. I’m not sure what I expected? But I felt a bit let down. We had dinner at Alaia and found the food excellent, however value for the portion was not great. As well my husbands tenderloin was over cooked. We did not complain, as it was his birthday, and didn’t want to ruin the evening with negativity. The jumbo prawn add on he had, while good, was again not our idea of good value with 3 prawns for $18.00. We are enjoying our room with an ocean view balcony and the beach. There is coffee and tea in the room, which we also appreciate. Hoping the rest of the stay is better than day 1!

This is a stunning resort in a beautiful location. The facilities are top notch and the fittings and furnishings are first class. We had a beautiful top floor club room with amazing views. We particularly enjoyed using the club facilities. On the negative side we were really disappointed not to be able to get a decent meal on the day we arrived as the only restaurant was fully booked and had to settle for bar snacks. The wifi in our room was hopeless (room 619) and ended up using the hotspot from my phone. The service too was poor with staff overstretched but doing their best even in the main restaurant. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and don’t mean to be hypercritical but expected just a bit more from a Ritz Carlton.

So here's the thing, Turtle Bay has everything you'd want in a beach resort. On the western side of the hotel is a gorgeous pristine, rocky beach. Always dramatic; sometimes wild surf, sometimes calm surf—always perfect for wave watching or enrolling in the surf school. The eastern side of the property has Kailua Cove, a protected bay for beginner’s snorkeling or professional sunbathing. A bit past that you’ll find serene, seldom crowded sandy beaches and some great hikes / walks. Also on Kailua Cove is The Beach House restaurant by Roy Yamaguchi. Not part of the hotel proper, but you can charge to your room. Food and service is excellent. I mean really excellent. The pool area of the resort has three areas, an adults only deck with a hot tub, and pool. A children’s splash and play pool, and a family lounge pool. The bar at the pool has a simple but varied menu and solid service. The food at the hotel is good, wonderful service, nice menu selections and kudos to the Ritz for using local farm to table when possible. When you need a break from resort meals, a wonderful food truck “village” is just an eight minute drive east to Kahuku, and old town Haleʻiwa restaurants are about 20 minutes west. There are several building choices, the three wings of the hotel proper (the absolute best views) and the bungalows with larger, elegant spaces, but some views are partiality limited by foliage. Regardless, you just can’t go wrong with the views and ocean breeze. If your doctor prescribes fresh air and calm, this is it, go heal and rejuvenate. Check-in was friendly and certainly establishes the mood du jour of the Aloha spirit. The hotel itself has been through oh so many owners over the decades, currently a Ritz / Marriott. The good news is that much of the staff is the same as before, and you can earn Marriott points to use on a return visit. The bad news is that it now has the Ritz brand mark-up. (Pretty silly rant follows, but actually heard several other guest comment on it as well, so I guess it matters.) The saddest part of the new ownership is the replacement of the logo wear with the Ritz crown... the stand-alone Turtle Bay logo was iconic, fun to wear and to display. The Ritz logo is kind of like the Hard Rock logo - been there / done that clothing. Turtle Bay Ritz Carlton is near perfection, I sure hope their development plans don’t ruin it, it really is one-of-a-kind paradise with wonderful hospitality, there just aren’t many places like this on earth; appreciate while you can. This was my third stay and their will be a fourth... fifth... sixth...

We generally ate breakfast and lunches at the club level, with free drinks throughout the day (though a limited selection). Our room was charming, and the view of Turtle Bay itself was incredible. Sitting out on the balcony was great, as was watching the waves and people surfing. The premises have a huge hot tub, a massive workout room with incredible ocean views, and a fabulous pool. The pool bar had the best pinacoladas I've ever tasted. The whole experience was relaxing, and the hotel was luxurious. We didn't leave the resort for the four days we stayed there!

If you are looking for a relaxing stay, DO NOT STAY HERE! Anyway, I truly wish we could say we enjoyed our stay, but it was anything but enjoyable. It was our 20th wedding anniversary, and we truly wanted the last (2) days of our trip to be spent enjoying the luxury of the Ritz. We have stayed at many other Ritz properties, and Turtle Bay is far from being up to par. It is an insult to the Ritz brand. The lobby is nicely designed (I am an architect), but the rest of the property was a poor renovation job, which I compare to "putting lipstick on a pig", as we say in the design industry. Check-in was a joke - the lady at the front desk was rude and basically rushed us through all of the check-in. The room was absolutely absurd and not worth $1000/night in the least. The bed linens were scratchy and hard as a rock. The old IHG pillows were lumpy and smelled like old pillows (I guess the Ritz didn't want to spend money on new pillows when they took over the property?). The bath towels were scratchy and way too small (I am 5'-9" and 145 pounds and the bath towel could barely wrap around me). There were no bathrobes or slippers in our room (I have NEVER stayed at a Ritz property that didn't provide these). I left a message with the concierge to see if housekeeping could at least provide a bathrobe, but never even got a response back. You couldn't even enjoy sitting out on the balcony because there were so many kids SCREAMING at the pool, we couldn't even hear ourselves talk to each other. As for the food quality, the breakfast buffet was a joke - the fruit was sour and the pastries were stale - I don't eat eggs, waffles, omelets, or anything that was on the buffet, so it was truly a waste of $52/person. In-room dining was disgusting as well. The food was COLD and the $9 espresso was cold with no way to heat it up. The breads/muffins were also stale. We barely touched the rest of the meal, since it was cold and inedible. Now onto dinner at the Beach House - this was truly a disappointment, especially being noted as Chef Roy Yamaguchi's restaurant. The service was horrible, and the fish was rubbery and barely edible. The table next to us never got their drinks and just got up and left the restaurant, and in hindsight, we should have as well. The pool - what a HORRIBLE experience! Who's great idea was it to put the adults only pool overlooking the kids pool with the waterslides??? The adult pool was anything but luxurious. The water was as hot as bath water and cloudy (GROSS!) and not refreshing at all. I won't even go into the condition of the hot tub. The staff at the pool was nowhere in sight; there were empty glasses and plates everywhere that hadn't been cleared, and the entire pool deck looked like a war zone. We ended up going to the pool bar and had to walk through all the screaming kids to finally get a beverage. We thought the beach might be a little more pleasant, but it was an overcrowded sh*t show. I also requested a late check out, since our flight wasn't until 4:00 pm on Saturday, and we were denied because they "needed the room for a guest that was checking in early" (I thought early check-in wasn't guaranteed?). Anyway, no need to rant any further, as I believe I have made my point. I truly wish we could have cancelled our reservation without any penalties and stayed at the Kahala Resort, which is where we stayed the first (2) days of our trip before heading to Kauai for (7) days, but unfortunately, that was not possible. Although disappointing, we will not be staying at Ritz properties anymore for sure. My only wish is that we could at least get some of our money back. This was a horrible and disappointing way to end what was meant to be a lovely vacation celebrating 20 years together.

This is the only resort on Oahu north shore. It’s a ritz branded property but not like most ritz properties. The lobby is beautiful with a bit crowded bar and great views. The rooms are fine but be aware the bldg in in three wings off a central core and two sides of two wings face the very very noisy pool - we asked to be moved from the first room. The is an on site restaurant which is the only real option for breakfast. It also serves dinner which was really just ok and very expensive. The pool restaurant was casual as one would expect and the food there just ok. We had no problems getting a chair at beach - the daybeds are extra and really not worth it. Pool chairs fill up by 10. In a serious design flaw the top of the kids pool slides are on the adult pool deck - huh? It’s not possible to walk anywhere else to eat so it’s there or you need a car.

My husband and I just returned from a week long vacation to Kauai and finished our trip with 3 days at The Ritz Turtle Bay in Oahu before coming home. Our stay at The Ritz exceeded our expectations and was such a tranquil, restful retreat to end our wonderful time in Hawaii! After a busy stay in Kauai hiking, snorkeling, sailing and more-it was such a refreshing time at The Ritz to just be still and relax and restore before heading back to work and routine at home. From walking into the beautiful open air lobby with ocean views and the warm welcome we received at the front desk with fresh flower leis, we were instantly sinking into a peaceful and Aloha state of mind. We were able to redeem suite rewards and were given a beautiful corner suite that was private and had beautiful sunset ocean views. We loved lounging on the patio bed in the afternoons. I loved all the classes available and enjoyed pilates, stretch class and yoga and even took the complimentary hula lesson. We loved both the adult pool and the main one and also rode the bikes available to the horse stables and around the beautiful trails. We loved eating dinner at the pool restaurant and sat at the low tables right on the water and watched the sunsets and surfers until it was dark. Also enjoyed the live music there each night. We did drive off property once to visit the food trucks at The Sugar Mill close by -which i highly recommend...we ate at Babadi Sushi which was amazing and loved the cute town of Haleiwa-definitely a must to visit! So happy to have discovered this special property in Oahu (as we've only stayed in Waikiki before at The Royal Hawaiian) and we will definitely look forward to coming back again to The Ritz TurtleBay and the North Shore! A most Beautiful time we take home with us!

We stayed at the Ritz-Carlton Turtle Bay in an oceanfront room with club lounge access during the Palm Tree Music Festival in May 2025. As Titanium Bonvoy members, my husband and I travel a lot — and this property definitely has the wow factor (especially considering the views and resort grounds). The view from the room was spectacular. The vibe at the pool during the day was next-level as we hung out with our friends: live DJ, young fun crowd, great energy but still felt elevated and not chaotic. Plus we met a bunch of the DJs and musicians at the pool. And the fact that we could just walk over to the festival later in the day? Huge plus. The club lounge was solid — good drinks, snacks, food, and service. Staff throughout the hotel were friendly and helpful. Only drawback? Late-night food. After getting back from the festival (past midnight both nights), we were starving — and surprised to find there was no hot room service available overnight. The room service menu did say sandwiches were available 24/7, but when I called down, they told me I had to go to the coffee area to pick them up. The catch? The coffee area was closed. No sandwiches in sight. Ended up stumbling onto a food truck parked outside the hotel (not affiliated), which saved us — but at this level of hotel, there should be at least something hot and available for guests after hours. All in all, we’d stay here again in a heartbeat (already booked for next year's festival) — just maybe stash a snack for the late-night munchies.

We stayed in the Bungalows which are oceanfront. We had a room with the bed facing the ocean (some rooms have beds perpendicular to the ocean so, request a room with t he bed facing the ocean. The sunsets are to die for. The Bungalow pool was nice too. We had a very nice Bungalow host (I think her name was Roxane) who was so helpful all the time. The North Island is out of the way-you should rent a car. Also, we didn’t love the breakfast up at the hotel (one of the only things we didn’t like, other than the valet giving us the wrong car). The Hotel restaurant had a busboy on his first day be a better employee than the waitress assigned to us. He needs a promotion. We had him in his first day! The Hotel pool is good for families.
