Most amazing time. The staff, all of them had great smiles and greeted you by name I would like to do a special mention to Julio, Stephanie and Captain Al. Even when it’s full, it’s not overcrowded, and they have great amenities, including water toys, ceviche bar, great lounge chairs, a dock with several daybeds over the water. It is extremely peaceful. The all day fishing and snorkeling trip is a must do! The whole place is really nice. My favorite part is that there were always things available. It was not like many beaches in America where it’s overcrowded and you have to wait for everything. The restaurant unfortunately is average. The best place to eat is chef Rob‘s, a short walk down the beach or the Hamanasi resort restaurant. If you want to relax and get away then this is a great place to go.

Guest services with Chris and Stephanie made the entry easy and gave great suggestions about things to see and do; they are both stars. Robin with reception was a hero, returning my wallet I left at the pool. Larry the beach super is delightful and very helpful as well. The restaurant staff were wonderful. Our bioluminescence tour with Alex and Victor was a highlight, and Victor was so interesting to learn from. Housekeeping was prompt and excellent.

Our deluxe plunge pool room here was lovely - very spacious and well-equipped. Not only was there a comfortable king size bed, but a very cosy sofa, plus a Lavazza coffee machine, plenty of purified water and a fridge. We had a huge and efficient shower, and also a plunge pool - but we were ground floor and the pool was housed in a small inner courtyard without any sunlight, so it was totally soul-less, cold and we didn’t use it at all! Also disappointingly, the room was not clean when we arrived and housekeeping standards did not seem to match either the prices or the hotel 4* status. We found it annoying that every day we were “Whats Apped” to ask if we wanted housekeeping! The assumption being we would not get our beds made or bathroom freshened unless we requested it! That’s a first for us in a smart hotel!
The standard of food and drinks was excellent, as was the friendly service in the restaurant and pizza bar. However, having booked what we thought was a small boutique hotel in Hopkins, we were surprised to find that The Lodge at Jaguar Reef, The Colonial Inn and Almond Beach Resort are all actually run as one much bigger resort in the “hotel quarter” with the facilities shared across the buildings, so our stay was less intimate than we’d hoped & be aware there is a general 10% “resort fee” on all services incl. food and drinks, concierge trip arrangements plus any tips on top, which all adds up!
Perhaps the biggest disappointment to us was the beach, which we had expected to be wide with white sand and was why we had chosen Jaguar Reef and Hopkins. But instead we found the rather narrow beach strip near the hotel sadly dominated by sargassum and rubbish - the staff tried heroically to clear it every day, but it was not conducive to a pleasant wander along the beach or swimming in the sea! So instead, we used the hotel free bikes for outings into the village, and occasionally swam in the Colonial Inn pool when it was quiet. The joint concierge service organises shared trips to a schedule and we joined an enjoyable night hike at Cockscomb Basin, but as minimum numbers are required we didn’t get out on a hoped for shorter snorkel trip, which was a shame.
Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our 5 days at the resort, but probably would choose somewhere else another time.

From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the amazing front desk team. Julio and Christopher provided excellent customer service, ensuring all our needs were met seamlessly.
A standout during our stay was Malcom, the resort manager. He went above and beyond to make us feel at home, personally showing us around the property and sharing insightful recommendations about Hopkins. It was truly special that he even remembered our names! His passion and dedication to hospitality are evident, and he has a bright future ahead.
Captain Larry was another highlight of our trip always full of energy, engaging in great conversations, and making sure we were well taken care of every day.
At the bar, Lucas and Steven made our experience even more memorable. They welcomed us warmly and were always up for a challenge, helping us create fun and customized drinks. Their enthusiasm and skill truly set them apart!
Our housekeeper also went above and beyond, ensuring our room was spotless each day with professionalism and care.
Thank you all for making this stay so unforgettable. I can’t wait to return for another incredible experience!

I've edited my original review to provide only a high-level overview of our disappointment with our stay, as the property has since offered a satisfactory resolution. I also want to acknowledge that the manager was very courteous and professional in their communication.

The service was outstanding, with every staff member going above and beyond to ensure a perfect stay. A special shout-out to the front desk team of Julio, Tahida, Robin, and Heidi who provided top-tier hospitality and attention to detail. Not only were they warm and welcoming, but they also went the extra mile when I accidentally left behind my Apple charger. Housekeeping turned it in to the front desk, they quickly texted me and graciously arranged for it to be delivered to Sleeping Giant Rainforest Lodge, their sister property where we were staying next thus saving me time, money and hassle. Their professionalism and kindness truly stood out!
The Lodge at Jaguar Reef exceeded all of our expectations, and I can't recommend it highly enough. If you're looking for a breathtaking destination with world-class service, look no further than The Lodge at Jaguar Reef. We definitely will be returning!

The Jaguar is a lovely small resort directly on the ocean in the Hopkins area of Belize. We stayed in one of the plunge pool rooms, which had a large covered patio with a couch and hammock, beautiful bedroom with king bed, bar fridge, coffee maker (replenished daily with coffee, cream and sugar), a private plunge pool and nice view of the ocean. The room was immaculately clean and had everything one expects at a high end hotel, including vases of fresh flowers in the main area and bathroom. Unfortunately, the plunge was not useable for the duration of our 5 night stay; however, the management representative (Devlin?) at the resort commensated us very fairly and without issue. For this, we say "thank you". It made all the difference to us.
The staff, whether gardeners, van drivers, front desk staff, pool staff, or housekeeping, were second to none. We have travelled extensively and have never been treated with such respect. Everyone learned our names, greeted us every day with a wide smile and "hello" and were stellar. I don't know who trains or selects the staff, but they deserve kudos. We did not encounter one single staff member who did not leave us with the feeling that we were welcome and appreciated.
We are a private couple and our goal of having a quiet and secluded holiday were met. There are social areas that others enjoyed and they seemed to thoroughly enjoy.
It was so delightful to stay at a resort where one does not have to get up at the crack of dawn to "claim" a beach or pool chair. They were plentiful.
The resort is within easy walking distance of a number of very nice restaurants, ranging from inexpensive to upper end. We availed ourselves of a number of them and were very impressed.
We highly recommend this resort for those desiring a beach holiday, while having the option of quiet and private time. There are a number of room options, each with their own appeal.

What a perfect place for the most perfect honeymoon!!!!
When we arrived in beautiful Belize, we stayed for 4 nights at Sleeping Giant, then 4 nights at The Banks - getting married at The Cliff - and then spent 6 nights at Jaguar Reef for our honeymoon ....It was utterly blissful and the best way/place to end off our wonderful, memory-filled vacation! And this was all thanks to Roberto Guerro, the amazing Wedding Coordinator for The Belize Collection!!
We stayed in Villa A, which is absolutely beautiful with breathtaking, up-close, views of the ocean! We were welcomed by a lovely cold bottle of champagne, which was so sweet.
Everything at Jaguar Reef was wonderful! The food, the drinks, the people, the warm ocean, the constant beautiful breeze. I could go on and on.
We biked into Hopkins one day, which was super cute and not too far from the resort. There were a couple fun-looking and recommended restaurants and an ice cream shop, but not much else. The big souvenir shop had a lot to offer and the prices weren't too crazy - and there was a very adorable pup sleeping outside with an iguana on the bike rack when we went to leave. So, all-in-all a great experience!
We did the bioluminescence boat tour, which was fun. Chris was a good 'lil story teller and kept us entertained. We saw small croc's, but no manatees. The bioluminescence was very cool! Although not the most exciting excursion, we had a great time and got to see a part of Belize that we would have otherwise missed.
We mostly spent our days lazing around the villa, walking the grounds of all of the resorts that are included in the Belize Collection of resorts at Hopkins, reading, swimming in the crazily warm ocean, dipping in the plunge pool, having drinks on the loungers on the lanai, watching the pelicans, iguana's, little lizards etc. When I say it was pure bliss, it truly was.
The hardest part was leaving!

The Lodge at Jaguar Reef is a lovely and tranquil resort hugging the beach in Hopkins. It has a low-key, chill vibe with excellent food (locally sourced, lots of fish and regional flavors) and stellar service. My husband and I loved our week there! A shout out to top-notch service from Chris (Christian) in guest services whose knowledge, insights, humor, and kindness were impeccable. He’s a wonderful ambassador for Jaguar Reef (he has a brilliant future in hospitality in my opinion). Also, Tomàs in the main restaurant delivered great service with a lovely warm manner that made delicious meals even better, and kudos to the lodge itself for making service paramount.
Note: Jaguar Reef is a chill and relaxing resort. If you’re looking for lots of on-resort activities and nightlife, this may not be for you. Although, there are some great excursions to be booked. If you’re looking for a relaxing and beautiful beach escape, consider Jaguar Reef!
