This is the real deal! How many B&B's have you visited in recent years that still offer a served hot breakfast, afternoon tea and cookies, evening wine and appetizers, a stash of bottled water, soda, and juice, and a nightcap all included in the room rate? Add charm, elegance, cleanliness, spacious grounds and common rooms, easy parking, a warm welcome, and impeccable service to the list. Rick, Suzanne, and staff have thought of every little detail to make your stay comfortable and memorable. (Nope, you won't have to sacrifice a lamp to charge your phone.) I must also mention the proximity to Cannery Row - just a few blocks away. Some may not wish to tackle walking up the hill, but with all the goodies, you need to work off a couple extra calories. We treated ourselves to the Borogove room which provided a lovely sitting area with fantastic bay view and a cozy fire. Yes, there are a few squeaky floor boards, but what do you expect from a house that's 114 years old? Sit back, relax, and enjoy life!

We have fallen in love with the Jabberwock Inn. Rick (owner) & Dorothy (innkeeper) were wonderful hosts. They were so accommodating & kind. We were trying to make for hor’doeuvres & wine on Friday (5-6p). We ran into some traffic, so Dorothy placed it all in our room for us to enjoy when we arrived. All of the food was amazing. The care & attention that is provided is over-the-top the best! And to top it all off we were visited by several black tailed deer. The main space is a great place to sit & relax. We truly enjoyed our stay.

The Jabberwock Inn is situated is a residential neighborhood within walking distance to shopping, many fine restaurants, the Monterrey Bay Aquarium and Cannery Row. We were warmly greeted by Dorothy who remembered us from our previous visit.
The owners Rick and Suzanne have created a warm and comfortable atmosphere in their restored Craftsman B&B with 8 individual rooms that fit the different needs of their guests.
Wine and hor d'eouvres are offered in the evenings. There are also cookies, bottled water and soft drinks available as well as an early morning pot of fresh hot coffee for those early morning risers.
For breakfast, Suzanne took the time to describe our delicious breakfast, which she personally served in their bright and sunny breakfast room with relaxing views overlooking their expansive garden.
We appreciate the efforts and attention to detail that Rick and Suzanne have taken to ensure a cozy home base where their guests can relax and enjoy Pacific Grove, Monterrey, Carmel and Big Sur.
Thank you for another wonderful time and we are already looking forward to our next visit to the Jabberwock Inn.

We highly recommend this B&B and will stay here again on our next trip to Monterey. Thanks for a great experience!

They are so accommodating with the smallest of details! When my wife didn’t want a “sweet” breakfast, they prepared an omelet that she said was the best she’s had! They are so helpful with giving their opinion and where to go and what to do or not do. Dorothy, their “innkeeper” was a tremendous help as well! When we go back to Monterey, we will definitely stay at the Jabberwok Inn!

Stayed here for 2 nights as part of a longer road trip and were absolutely wowed by this very charming b&b. From initial booking to leaving we had a great experience. The b&b is in a safe area, close to the coastal walk, harbour seal viewing and Pacific Grove, there are also a number of great restaurants and bars nearby. Safe and free off street parking (car park out of use on our visit).
Our room had an ocean view (we had booked a garden one, but were given the option to switch at no extra cost as they weren’t at full occupancy). Filtered water and a little decanter of brandy in the room and then a small fridge down a flight of stairs within a little cubby hole for guests to help themselves to bottles water, juices and fizzy drinks.
Cookies and tea available 24/7 in the dining area.
Wine and appetisers served every evening if you want it, recommend people do this as it’s a great way to meet other people staying there (only a small place so great to chat).
Lots of things to look at in all of the rooms which make it the place it is, cute, unique and charming.
Breakfast changed everyday and very different to the run of the mill meal. On our second day we had to leave early due to a pre booked excursion , we were left fruit, juice, coffee, breakfast bars and croissants to take with us.
A fabulous stay, thank you

My husband and I stayed here two nights and it was delightful. The hosts are personable, helpful with information about hiking, restaurants and things to do and they are enthusiastic stewards of the property and respect its history. The house is a gorgeous Craftsman style building and staying in it feels like staying in a historic mansion, with its wide dark woodwork, fireplaces (propane, and it was usable), and old fashioned crank-out windows. Breakfasts were excellent and substantial, and the hosts provided very nice wine and appetizers for an hour each evening. The inn is within walking distance of the busy part of Monterey but it is in a quiet residential neighborhood. I highly recommend this inn to anyone.

Overall the experience we had staying here was very positive. The owner, Rick was very helpful, particularly Dorothy who welcomed us and was very knowledgable and an asset to the business. The room we stayed in was very nice. The drinks/ nibbles in the evenings was very pleasant, meeting other guests. The location of the hotel was very good and central. Most sites are walking distance.
The decor was exceptional and fitting with the era. The fireplace in the room was very nice. There is off street parking as well.
The breakfast was divine, just enough and interesting. Watch out for the deer and their entourage :)
I would thoroughly recommend staying here. Thank you to all the staff who made the stay very memorable.

All around excellent b and b, great hosts
This is an excellent bed breakfast, featuring a lovely wine and cheese hour and tasty breakfast. Of particular note are the owners and innkeeper -- all very accessible, extremely helpful, and friendly. Our room was quite nice. All in all an outstanding place to stay in Monterey.

My wife and I traveled to Monterey last week to attend a good friends Celebration of life and we needed a place to stay for a night. I got so lucky to find the Jabberwolk while checking for a Hotel.
The price for the night was pretty close to Hotel prices but there is no comparison. I called direct and spoke with Rick, the owner, what a nice guy. He told me that they serve Wine and snacks between 5 to 6 p.m. so we left Bend, Oregon at 6:30 in the morning to try to be there in time. We made it right in time and wow, no disappointment.
Rick's wife, Suzanne gave us a quick tour and a glass of very nice Wine as soon as we came through the door. It just gets better from there. We also were given the opportunity to switch to another room with a Bay view that I had not seen. We look forward to visiting Monterey again in the future and we know we have found a fantastic place to stay. Our only regret was that we didn't have time to spend another evening at the Jabberwolk. Next visit will be for 2 nights.
Thank you Rick & Suzanne for making our visit such a fantastic time.

We spent 5 nights at the Inn in the Brillig Room with a lovely sunrise view of the Bay. The room and the Inn are full of thoughtful touches from water (and brandy for a nightcap if you like) in the room, to coffee and tea and cookies in the sun porch. The breakfasts are not to be missed and also add great value to your room rate. If you happen to be back at the Inn before dinner, enjoying a glass of wine and light appetizers with other guests on the sun porch is a pleasant late afternoon break. Restaurants are plentiful within walking distance or a short drive, and free parking is another nice perk. Rick, Suzanne and Dorothy are all pleasant and accommodating, and their restaurant and itinerary recommendations were all very helpful. Highly recommend the Inn when staying in the area. It was the perfect home base for not only Monterey itself, but also for exploring Big Sur and Carmel. For those not used to older (turn of the century) homes, you will hear footsteps from the room above or voices in the hallway but we found all the guests during our stay to be considerate so noise was not a concern.

Rick, Suzanne, and Dorothy consistently went above and beyond on our 3-night stay. The home and grounds are overflowing with curated character in every nook and cranny. Waking up to look out our room’s windows as the sun first peeked over the Gabilan Mountains and lit up the sky over Monterey Bay will be a lasting memory. Breakfasts and happy hours in the sunroom were top-notch (especially the award-winning Jabber Juice). We met interesting people and had great conversations - we even returned home with art and unique coffee mugs as well! We will definitely be back.
