I took my fiancee for her birthday and the effort all the staff went to to make her birthday special was fantastic.
The goring Dining room restaurant is one of the best for food and wine..superb!...with service to match .
My only criticism of the hotel is that there is no coffee machine or fridge in the room..or even a kettle!
Which for a five star hotel is suprising ...
Nevertheless a wonderful hotel and an experience to cherish.
We will look forward to returning!

So let’s start with the positives. This hotel gives a traditional warm welcome. It is special. Everyone is polite and kind. The night porter especially! He looked after us into the late evening and was so lovely. Nor the room service man was also really jolly and the breakfast tea served in your room is delightful. Having said that I have just read a previous review saying you could request tea making facilities . I was not aware of that. So pricey to have tea in the room but it was beautiful in its presentation! We stayed at the shangri la and the staff here are way more professional and just approachable. Michael was on reception and greeted us really well. We decided to upgrade to a room with a garden view. Unfortunately we were next to the linen cupboard so was woken early on each of our three days. The room itself was beautiful and had more room than the executive. Would I upgrade again? Probably not given that it was just really about some additional floor space. Another night manager told us the best floor to stay on is the first one. So noted for next time. Our view was ok but would have been better lower down. The staff are courteous and helpful. We didn’t eat here but the bar is wonderful and cosy. The only other downside was hearing one of the maids outside our room one morning. She sounded like she was arguing with someone. I’m sure it was just a blip but was rather loud. The side lights were not working by our bed although someone came up to investigate they never returned to fix which was a shame considering we had paid for an upgrade. Overall we had a lovely stay. The location to places is superb. Five minutes walk to the palace and local attractions. Just those couple of tweaks would have made it perfect.

Dinner was our highlight - we can see why they have a Michelin star! The risotto starter was one of my favourites, and the duck was incredible.
The hotel itself is just stunning - full of character, hand-painted wallpaper and a huge garden!
Thank you The Goring team for making our stay so special and memorable!

I stayed at The Goring in August for dinner and an overnight stay. It was fantastic - the food, the staff, the accommodation. I would highly recommend anyone wanting to stay at an independent, 5-star hotel in London to choose The Goring.
We started the night with drinks in the bar where the atmosphere was nice and very welcoming. After a cocktail, we headed to the dining room and sat down to enjoy a lovely meal - of which the Beef Wellington was the star of the show! After a lovely dinner we retired to our room which was spacious and exquisitely decorated and very in-keeping with the rest of the hotel.
The staff are wonderful. Nothing is too much of an ask and they are very friendly and approachable.
Breakfast was another delight and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

The food was a highlight, especially the Michelin-starred Dining Room—every meal was delicious, and the breakfast options were fantastic. The recommendations the staff provided were wonderful - highly recommend the duck and the eggs drumkilbo (supposedly a favourite of the late Queen Mother)! The hotel's location is ideal, close to Buckingham Palace and other key attractions.
If you're looking for a luxurious and memorable stay in London, I highly recommend The Goring.

We got married in the Goring last August and decided to spend our anniversary here for the night.
Everything was just as it was last year - perfect! Our room was beautiful and there was a basket of fruit and bottle of champagne with an anniversary note, how lovely.
We had a drink in the gorgeous garden before dinner where the staff were fabulous. Anastasia took some photos of us and was a sheer delight. We were so pleased to be greeted by Soufian who had looked after us on the food tastings and our actual wddding day. He remembered us and gave us a nice cocktail each, what a delightful young man. The dining room has been re decorated and is even more beautiful now. They’d laid out a gorgeous table with a beautiful sofa seat and a card on the table - again a lovely personal touch. We were looked after by the lovely Claudia and Fred.
On Sunday after a delicious breakfast we went for a walk and when we returned we were so delighted to meet Teddy the Shetland pony in the garden. I had a nice chat with the owner and took a few minutes photos before we had a last drink in the garden before we left.
There are many lovely hotels in London which we frequent for dinners, drinks but it’s the staff and the personal little touches at the Goring which make it stand right up there with the best of the best. We will be back.

Late for breakfast? No problem! “We can get you in!” And not rush us! Wonderful, relaxed service even though we had missed the breakfast window!
We wanted to have a drink in the garden but there was a private party going on. But the concierge spoke to the manager of the lounge( a wonderful man from Morocco whose name escapes me!!) and he made us a discreet table away from the party.
Quiet, comfortable bed, charming room and bathroom, helpful staff, excellent service. What more could one want ?
It was our first stay but not our last!
