We knew beforehand that you cannot book a dinner reservation in 2 of the 3 on site restaurants. We had to wait 1 hour for a table for dinner after putting our name/room number on the waitlist. They only start the waitlist when the restaurant is full so we put our name down at 6.15pm. This process for dining is not a 5 star experience.
Food, the room and facilities were very good and service very prompt.

This hotel has ruined all other hotel stays for us - because any other hotel I stay in will be compared to this one. We stayed here on a short break, the entire stay was amazing.
The staff were extremely welcoming and friendly. The Active level is great, such a lovely experience. The Spa is fantastic, myself and my wife had massage treatments - it was incredible.
The rooms were very nice, the view was spectacular and the beds were the most comfortable I've ever slept in.
Dinner was very tasty, the service was incredible and the staff were so attentive.
The bar staff were very friendly and on top of everything, the Guinness was top notch and the cocktails were great.
Breakfast options were plenty, everything was perfect.
Will definitely be returning!

Prior to this weekend I referred to The Europe as my “favourite place in Ireland”. Unfortunately it was not the place I had remembered from 12 years ago.
My boyfriend and I booked a 2 night package which comprised of 2 nights b+b and a meal in the Panorama restaurant (€955). On arrival the first thing I noticed was the crowds of people - fair enough, it’s a bank holiday weekend. However considering the cost of the package, and The Europe’s reputation as being “luxurious” and “a real treat” I was surprised (and yes slightly disappointed) to see the quantity of children running around the place. I felt like I had just checked into a busy airport.
We were grateful that we could check in early and mesmerised by the size of the tv and cleanliness of the bathroom (lovely shower too). However our bed was actually two single beds pushed together - we’d make a better effort if we had guests staying at home.
Our first visit to the spa was like a visit to Centre Parcs. Children everywhere - splashing and jumping into the infinity jacuzzi. The “adults only” thermal suite had kids running in and out playing with the ice bowl.
The bar does in fact stay closed till 5.30pm. So unless you beat the crowd to the cosy spots in the lounge or library you’ll have to settle for a seat in the reception area beside screaming babies. Staff were also clearly very stressed and under pressure.
Dinner in the Panorama restaurant was lovely, but again children everywhere. 5* food but not particularly 5* fine dining experience.
The following day we were up early to play a game of tennis. The courts were disgraceful. The surface was (a) unplayable and (b) dangerous. Seriously though - considering the expense of the place you would think they could afford to put some money into fixing the surface. Needless to say, our tennis game didn’t last long.
On our second evening we had dinner in the Brasserie. We were told we could not book a table but they operate on a first come first serve basis. Thankfully we only had to wait 30 mins for the table as we arrived at 6pm. However we noticed a number of couples had to wait up to two hours for a table. Again, this is not 5* standard.
The cost of the two night stay would have got us a week abroad. We were aware that was going to be the case prior to the weekend, and we have no problem spending on a 5* experience. The Europe has not kept up with other 5* hotels in Ireland. I won’t be returning.

Be sure to walk the grounds and save time to visit the pool area. Just slip on your robe and slippers over swimsuit and head down. Enjoyed the bubbly outdoor hot tub in a slight cool drizzle, and then hit the sauna.
Music in lounge during evening was great and the drink pours generous.
Loved this place!

Our Irish family who heard we were staying at the Europe all went ooohhhh ahhhh, and that is exactly how we felt staying there! It was exquisite! The space was large and had a gorgeous view of the lake and the bathroom was huge! The service was 5 star all the way and we were treated like VIPs. Robert in the bar took such great care of our loud and raucous group of couples, we talked about him for the rest of the trip! We planned to play tennis, but Robert served us too many Dingle Drinks and we had soooo much fun that tennis didn't happen. The food was perfect and our room was spotless! I can't say enough about the luxury of the Europe. The only suggestion...the hot tub needs to be about 2 degrees warmer:)

Let me recognize, the fabulous Liz Murphy. My wife left two pieces of clothing behind and Liz took it upon herself to send it to a hotel we were planning on staying in Belfast. I offered to pay but Liz said , We’ll take care of it. The parcel arrived and my wife was super happy.
The stay for us was priceless! Great job, Europe Hotel and great job , Liz.

Fabulous hotel and surrounds.
We have been so pleasantly surprised by our experience here at The Europe. We contemplated lunch in Killarney town en route but I’m so glad we waited until we arrived. We had such a lovely afternoon on the sun drenched terrace with delicious food and wine.
Our room is very nice. It is a golf side as there were no lake view available. It’s very well appointed and comfortable but I would opt for lake view next time.
Staff are just lovely throughout and there is an elegant but not ostentatious atmosphere. We can be relaxed in manner and dress and feel like it’s a holiday instead of a stuffy, pretentious experience.
We dined on the terrace at Riva lastnight and it was gorgeous. Lovely food and the quiet of the garden with the lake ahead was a perfect backdrop.
The pool is beautiful and thermal suite area really nice too.
We are travelling kid free on this occasion, but there are families here too and children are welcome and well absorbed into the hotel. The pool has a seperate adults thermal area, but in general the children here during our stay have been very well behaved and added to the character and sense of warmth and family.
Very much looking forward to our next trip.

The room was awesome - amazing view, comfortable bed, and the technology was great.
I have been in lots of hotels - thousands, and this had one of the best gyms and saunas I have used. They were clean, well maintained, and lots of choices.
We visited three restaurants while we were there and thought that they were all awesome. Great choice!

We drank in the bar in the evening, where there was beautiful music.. the pool was beautiful as was the indoor/ outdoor spa.. The grounds were magnificent and we loved the remembrance trees, especially the one dedicated to those who lost lives in the covid pandemic, it touched our hearts..
I purchased in the gift shop a beautiful Christmas bauble to remember such a wonderful place! I certainly will be back for another celebration at some point!
Highly recommended, from start to finish top class 5 star service.

The Merrion is one of the two or three best hotels I've been privileged to visit. Ever. Anywhere. My wife and I stayed here in April/May 2025. The location, close to St. Stephen's Green and Trinity College, is perfect. Better, the rooms are large and comfortable (showers are a little small, but what can you say?). The Merrion experience begins months earlier, when you make your booking. The reservations staff (I'm talking to you, Mia) are lovely and engaging. Then the concierge (that's you, Anna) gets involved. Both spend far more time than you'd imagine working out how to make your stay wonderful. Then they do. And then you arrive, and the rest of the staff - too many to name - follow through as if you are their favorite cousins. The building(s) and grounds are lovely, even given some ongoing (as of 5/25) renovations of the interior garden.
The Merrion offers a lovely breakfast buffet and has two great bars. The Garden Room has a lovely, understated Georgian vibe, but (IMHO) the hidden gem is the Cellar Bar, in the original 18th-century wine vaults of the "main house." In Boston, this would be overcrowded and irritatingly loud from about 3:30 in the afternoon. Here, it was quiet and intimate and lovely. Restaurant Patrick Guilbaud, a two Michelin-star place, is technically next door, but might as well be part of the hotel. I won't review them here except to say (i) wow!; and (ii) any expectations you may have about stuffy service and small portions at Michelin-rated restaurants will be dispelled forever by this lovely and gracious venue.
I just can't say enough about this wonderful, exceptional, and welcoming hotel except that I want to return to Dublin as soon as I can if only for the experience of staying here again.
This is the real deal. We loved it and hope you won't miss out on it. Or maybe you should, so that we can get a room there again. :)
