Having paid €6,300 for 7 nights All Inclusuve ( exc flights) I expected a high standard of hotel. The food in the main Reef restaurant was never hot. All Inc did not include wine in your room (unless you spoke to a manager). The staff were a mixed bag in terms of service, some very good and some very bad. Often no wine glasses in the restaurant unless you accepted plastic. If you sat outside to eat you were bombarded by pigeons which were always on the tables. No one cared, it was the norm. On a positive note the one meal we were allowed in the Umi restaurant was excellent and the staff superb, whoever trained them should take over the main restaurant. Not a patch on Sandals and it was more expensive.

This is one of the best hotels we have stayed in. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel very welcome. All staff were very friendly and helpful, always had a cheery hello and how are you. Food at this hotel is amazing in all restaurants, always plenty to choose from and very good quality. Beach is lovely with plenty of beds and umbrellas and lovely to have water sports equipment too! Pool area is again lovely with great swim up bar with never ending list of cocktails. Bedrooms are very clean but we do wish we had booked sea view rooms for that very special view. Location is also great, in walking distance to many places including Bridgetown but if you don’t want to walk Reggae bus is great experience! We also hired a car to see this beautiful island, all arranged by reception. We would like to say a very big thanks to the Manager and all staff at Sugar Bay for making our holiday very special!

Rockstar staff! First and foremost . I have too many or name all to personalize this review.The professional intelligent manner I was treated for a couples getaway should be a business model for the hospitality industry. A joy to be here. I will say many of the reviews here are accurate plus and minus, need improvement . I will not duplicate. To be forewarned , they allow people to smoke and vape on beach and bar areas. No designated smoking area. I more am saddened that guests choose to be filthy and leave butts where their human butts should be. Owner , since there are rules and fines for other things which I can agree with , be brave and reinvent an example of health, not entitlement. No smoking etc in public areas unless designated or fine guests for harming the environment.Likewise , guests should hopefully read this review and also pick up their drink glasses, or better yet change to none or eco friendly. I would come back here again in a flash and likely will , it is pleasant quiet beach to relax. Employees, thank you for my wonderful stay .

The Sugar Bay hotel is a beautifully laid out resort of a relaxed boutique style with very friendly and helpful staff. It is situated directly on a small beach with beautiful sand and turquoise waters. They have placed a series of rocks to act as a barrier against the larger waves of the Atlantic therefore creating a small lagoon of quieter waters safe to swim in. We enjoyed quite strong breeze at times which was beneficial as it was hot. The main thing we loved was the quality and range of food options at meal times. I am a piscetarian but at home normally eat vegetarian even vegan. There was plenty of new options especially lunch and dinner to try so never got bored. They had almond milk at breakfast with granola fruit along with all the cooked options although would have loved to see plain or plant based yogurt as an option. For vegetarians at meal times, there was always fresh vegetables which were beautifully cooked and usually a vegetable curry. We were very happy to eat there every evening as in other hotels we have become bored with the buffet options, not here. The waiters and waitresses were always pleased to see you which makes for a very pleasant stay. A special mention for the Sizzle restaurant and waitress and waiters Niki, Christian, Javan*, Seth*, Ashanti. They were most welcome and friendly even offering to take a photo of us together. The food was delicious and generous portions. My husband had an 8oz steak which was huge and very tasty. I had the red snapper with plantain it was superb. I also squeezed in a dessert chocolate lava a small pudding type sponge very lovely. Thank you for a superb holiday.

Sugar Bay is a lovely boutique all inclusive hotel on a really nice beach which has wind breakers in the sea to protect from large waves in the windy weather, safe for families. Food & drink on offer was of a good standard. The signature room was very roomy for 2 people with plenty of storage & good shower rooms. Staff are extremely friendly, professional, kind & helpful. Nice to have the ala carte restaurants available.

The people were the best part ! Natasha and Kay were our favorites at Umi ❤️ We booked an oceanfront room which overlooked the outdoor bar so we could see the nightly entertainment from our balcony!! Trinity was our favorite singer. The hanging chair on the balcony was comfy and the rack to hang bathing suits was very useful. The bedroom and living room/dining room areas were quite large which we loved but the bed was hard and the couch could use a good cleaning. Lots of hangers, a mini fridge and a safe were nice to have. The air conditioners worked great but as they blow right down onto the bed and couch we lowered the temp and actually turned one off here and there. The Housekeeping staff were awesome! I called asking for more towels and they arrived so fast. We actually liked how rough the beach gets for the waves but I didn’t like all the rocks at the shoreline. I found a few spots where it was softer so we tried to sit near there. I think the sand could’ve been cleaner too, kept stepping on twigs and rocks. My complaint was having to run down to the beach before 7am to get loungers in the front row. The guys at the towel shack put up umbrellas once you secure your chairs. Our first few days we sat further back but by midday the people in front of us had dragged 15 chairs into a small space so I could barely see the water. Colin’s bar had wonderful bartenders and the best tasting drinks there. The pool loungers were comfortable but the fabric could use a good cleaning. They leave you extra towels though. Chairs at the pool are saved and fill up early too. We loved the buffet for breakfast and Umi & Sizzle were great for dinner too! The food was pretty good overall.

We absolutely loved our stay at the Sugar Bay, Barbados. We stayed in room 124 which was on the ground floor facing the pool. The room was spacious with 2 beds pushed together to make a large bed. There is also air-conditioning, a large Tv and a safe. Plenty of coathangers and shelfspace for clothes which was lovely. The bathroom is a fair size and has a lovely shower with lovely white stuff toiletries provided. The food is excellent. The buffet selection at the Reef Restaurant was smaller than we are used to but the food is so delicious that we tried every dish and there was nothing that we didn't like. There is a cooking station that offers cooked Meats, pasta and eggs at breakfast. They had peanut butter which i love and an ice cream machine which was a lovely treat. You can also book the 2 specialty restaurants through reception. The lovely lady on reception made our reservations as part of the check in process. Umi (oriental) and Sizzle (steak) were lovely and made a change from the buffet. The watersports staff are really helpful arranging the umbrellas on the beach. We used the snorkeling equipment a few times and saw plenty of fish. They also provide taster sessions. The Sugar Bay provides entertainment in the evening which we enjoyed. The pool bar and beach bar provided a wide selection of drinks and cocktails. I have seen previous reviews stating that drinks were watered down but this was definitely not our experience. We had no issues getting sunbeds and the sunbeds round the pool were very comfy and the hotel provided an additional towel. The hotel provides a number of activities per day. We did a few such as the swimming racehorses and Oistins. This was great because we didn't have to worry about arranging things ourselves. The resort is also well located a short walk from Bridgetown. We would thoroughly recommend Sugar Bay and we would happily return.

Sugar Bay exceeded my expectations by far!! It was our honeymoon and the best trip of our lives. I'd recommend ground floor for best beach access. The room was stunning, bright and super clean! I've never met a more kind, helpful, polite and courteous team of staff in my life....

Sugar Bay exceeded my expectations by far!! It was our honeymoon and the best trip of our lives. I'd recommend ground floor for best beach access. The room was stunning, bright and super clean! I've never met a more kind, helpful, polite and courteous team of staff in my life. The food, THE FOOD was incredible!! Lots of options, we don't eat red meat and we're able to fill up with healthy and filling options every meal. We don't drink alcohol, and we were very surprised and happy with the mocktail lists at every bar. We stayed on the resort a lot and made time for sun and swimming (the water is stunning and the sand is like powdered sugar), but we also walked every day at least once off resort and the area was safe, with friendly people everywhere and lots to see around. Only regret is not staying longer, but I know we will be back. I'll be recommending Sugar Bay forever. Can't wait to go again.

The hotel is on a small beach with sheltered swimming- when the wind got up neighbouring beaches had red flags, but this didn't. The resort is small enough to feel intimate, but large enough to have all the facilities one could want. No problems getting sundowners on the beach. The south coast location makes it convenient for visiting Bridgetown (bus stop right outside the hotel) and other Barbados attractions. The food was good for an all-inclusive resort, with plenty of variety from day to day, and great cocktails. The two waiter service restaurants made for a nice change as well. Our room was small, but we expected that as we had booked a standard garden view room. The air con was not adjustable - only on or off - which was a little uncomfortable. Another minor irritation was the lack of accessible power points for charging phones and other devices. Also, I dislike open fronted storage space, but a lot of hotels seem to have this now. Previous reviews refer to rooms being "tired", and certainly there were chipped tiles in the shower, and the terrace furniture had seen better days, but everything was spotlessly clean. The stars of the show were the staff, who were unfailingly polite, cheerful and helpful. If we were disappointed by anything, it was the pool, which was small, shallow, and not really pleasant to swim in unless you were a small child. However, the ocean made up for that! Evening entertainment was a bit variable in quality. However, it didn't continue too late, so peace and quiet after 10pm. Overall, a relaxed family friendly resort offering good value for money. Would go back. (There were a lot of repeat customers there.)

This was our second visit to Sugar Bay - the previous one being in 2018, and I have to say that it was as good if not better this time. The hotel is located only about 10' drive from Bridgetown, and its literally right on the beach. On arrival we were treated to a lovely Rum Punch and our room was ready for us. We had a sea-view room on the first floor which was lovely and was serviced daily. It had a coffee machine, fridge as well as a safe. There are several restaurants - The Reef, Colins Bar, Umi and Sizzle. Umi and Sizzle are the speciality restaurants (Japanese and Steak House respectively) - and these need to be booked beforehand. I'd recommend booking these with the concierge when you first arrive. Colin's Bar is located on the beach, and I'd look at this more as a snack bar - but the food is lovely. The main restaurant is The Reef. It's self service (all the others are waited service); the food is varied and the quality excellent. Eating out in Barbados is not cheap - and this was one of the main reasons that we chose this hotel again - the choice and quality of food is excellent. The Reef chooses a nightly theme for its dinner dishes - so one night could be from a British menu , then the next night it's from a Mediterranean menu and one from a Barbados menu etc. There are several bars - one at Colin's Bar, the main cocktail bar which is just outside The Reef and the Lazy Mongoose. We never went to the Mongoose as we found that we didn't need to drink after the cocktail bar closed (at 23:00). I think the Lazy Mongoose closes at 01:00. (Too late for us!!.) We found the service to be very good although sometimes the bar staff would put a bit too much mixer in the spirits so you may need to ask them to go easy on the tonic!! The staff are excellent and always have a smile for you. Too many to name here, but without exception we found them all to be extremely helpful and more than willing to go above and beyond to help. The nightly entertainment was pretty good - the best being an all girl trio called Virgo - who we remembered from out first visit. Strangely enough, quite a few of the other acts just couldn't stop covering Bob Marley - but when it's the same songs it does become a bit much. The hotel is about 15' walk from Pebbles Beach - so if you want to go and see the horses training in the sea, you'll need to be at the beach for around 06:15. If you want to walk towards Rockley Beach then I'd recommend walking over the beach and use the boardwalk. The boardwalk has the advantage of having some bars and restaurants on it, so you can stop for a drink or snack. However, if you are planning on using the pavements - I would strongly recommend taking great care, as we saw several holes in the pavement that someone could easily walk into. Hence, at night, if we needed to leave the hotel, we took a taxi. If you do want to walk outside at night, please take a torch or at least use your phone. Some recommendations for eating out - yes, did eat out a few times to break things up. For a special meal we went to Tides (that's a taxi ride) and for breakfast we went to the Art Splash Cafe which is opposite the bandstand on the boardwalk. All in all, we had a superb time on the island and we would thoroughly recommend this hotel.

We went to Sugar Bay as we was eloping to get married in Barbados. From start to finish of our holiday it was all perfect, staff are so friendly, so welcoming, staff cannot do enough for you. We loved every minute of the holiday and we already cannot wait to go back, the hotel is such a nice size, big enough to enjoy and do your own thing but also small enough to feel welcomed and a part of the hotel. The food was amazing every day and night in the all inclusive, the additional restaurants included was AMAZING! The steak restaurant was lovely and so was the Thai, we particularly enjoyed the steak restaurant! The staff was lovely on our wedding day they were so happy for us and nearly everyone acknowledged it was our wedding day it was lovely! Everyone was so friendly, we already can’t wait to return and cannot thank the hotel and staff enough for such a lovely first time visit to Barbados

Just returned from our third time at wonderful Sugar Bay and as before never disappointed. We had requested our favourite room which the staff supplied with no trouble. It would be unfair to name staff that went the extra mile as everyone of them were fantastic! The young lady who cleaned the central toilet always had a brilliant smile on her face and she was infectious. Since our last trip in 2020 the buffet and bar area have been improved greatly. The choice of food is amazing and is always topped up as us hungry tourist devour it. Sizzle, Colin’s and Umi a lovely change of venue. Having been in the customer service industry I have to commend you Sugar Bay on your training of staff , sitting by the pool and watching them all going to their shift, everyone greeting you with a smile and greeting, well done. Thank you Sugar Bay for yet another wonderful hoilday

We always to a tropical trip in February. This was our first time in Barbados. I was skeptical about staying at an all inclusive since previous ones have been lackluster. This one,however, blew us away! From the excellent food and wine selections, super friendly and attentive staff and gorgeous setting right next to the ocean. Only negative is that the beds are hard, and the kids can get a little loud at the pool, but there was a ton of space to get away from the noise, and the bed situation could be fixed with a travel topper. Would highly recommended this resort to others who just need some r&r. The nightly entertainment was also excellent!

We booked this hotel after reading the reviews, it is a 4 star hotel and almost makes those 4 stars, but not quite. The location is gorgeous and during the first week the food in the buffet was very good, what let it down was the attitude of some of the staff, it is almost like they resent the job they are doing,plus the attention to detail is poor. Our room smelled awful and had mould in the corner near the aircon unit. In the second week it got much busier and the service levels and food quality went down. If you are thinking of going here don’t go when busy and don’t expect good service. Nice place but we would not return.

This resort exceeded our expectations in every way from greeting us at check in to leaving the last day. We have traveled to many different locations in the Caribbean and also other resorts in different countries. This is definitely a new favorite, it’s not too big but the perfect sized resort that is able to keep an intimate experience in every way. Our first night the AC wasn’t cooling and Shanique went above and beyond to please us. I could tell she was very busy but took the time to walk me to a new suite for my approval. She smiled the entire time until it met our satisfaction. Just Wow, I wish every person we dealt with while traveling was this professional. The entire staff at front desk was also this way. This resort is very clean from the outside area gardens, the beach area, pools and all public places; absolutely beautiful. The food; we couldn’t believe how good every meal was. The reef dinning is buffet style but the flavor and selections are like made to order with different selections each day. The staff at the Reef restaurant worked so hard for everyone and also always friendly with a contagious smile. Nicholi stood out at the Reef. He knew the menu to a ‘T’ and every day we would ask him in passing while we sat at the Reef bar and he would explain what the choices were. He became a friend to our group. He always acknowledged us and made us feel special. Helene, Joane and all the guys at the Reef Bar saw us probably more than anyone!😀 They would take the time to make each of our drinks to our liking and even understood what we were wanting and make it happen. They introduced us to new drinks and they truly were very meticulous. The water sports team that handled the beach area worked hard, keeping the beach combed and chairs in order and always checked on us to see if we needed umbrellas each morning. They also greeted us throughout the day with a smile to see if we needed anything. To sum it up, Sugarbay Resort is a top notch destination that we are already looking for the next trip back!

The staff at Sugar Bay make this wonderful resort even better. They are friendly and kind. We are older and they were always looking out for us making sure we had everything we needed. The food is fantastic, every cocktail is made with care, the a la carte restaurants are 5 star. The beach is suitable for non-swimmers, easy to get in and out of, fairly calm thanks to the breakwater. We love that there is no music on the beach, just the relaxing sounds of nature. You can get a chair and umbrella on the beach any time of day, no need to get up at the crack of dawn. This was our second time and we can't wait to go back.

Very friendly staff. Great variety of food and dining experiences. Rooms and resort very clean. Well placed for local visits to Garrison UNESCO World Heritage Site and to see the swimming horses at Pebbles Beach. Just a great vibe and feel to the resort.

Staff brought out umbrellas so you don’t bake in the sun! The Reef buffet had plenty of options and a different theme nightly. Also went to the Collin’s snack shack for lunch. Had burgers and hotdogs and fries for a change. Ate at Sizzle steakhouse one night and the steaks were delicious!! Loved the nightly entertainment, super singers and 2 nights had dancers and fire eaters! All around wonderful vacation would definitely recommend!!!!

Been to lots off AI and they leave drinks in the fridge …here only if you ask each day & wine has to be asked for at the desk …should be stocked up . 3. The Lazy mongoose was to far away & always dead …also advertised imported beer but there wasn’t any However Overall it’s a great hotel & would Recommend

What a beautiful hotel, great location with the beach on the doorstep. All the staff were attentive and couldn’t do enough for you. Highly recommend visit to the steak house (part of the all inclusive package) We will definitely be returning!

Enjoyed our 12 nights in the sugar bay, We asked to be moved as too many children running about at 06-15 in rooms above us, with no fuss at all they found us another room all be it a smaller room but was ok, needs a bit of TLC on a few things. Nearly all the staff was brilliant from receptionist, bar staff, waiters/waitresses beach staff, We thought the food was very good lots to choose from with 2 signature restaurants to choose from, as well as the drinks. Just a couple of things let it down, the beach area was not cleaned up from the day before ie used towels left on the sun beds, plastic glasses with and without drinks left. could do with more toilets near the pool and beach area. would go back again though.

Excellent Hotel overall. Public areas spotless, well stocked and maintained. Staff wonderful and really make this resort top notch. The buffet is smaller however it provides excellent and tasty food options. Food is well seasoned and plentiful. Lots of options for everyone. Loved the local flavors offered. Buffet staff quite willing to accommodate any dietary requirements. Sizzle Steakhouse is excellent. Umi was also good. Colin's grill offered excellent lunch options. Did not try the coffee bar located by Sizzle. Dress is casual. Rooms and beds comfortable. Daily cleaning is excellent. Beach is smaller with a break wall. Beach is a little rocky in areas. Water shoes will be appreciated. The current is strong. One feels very safe in leaving the resort. Outside the resort, anyone you encounter will give direction and help if needed. Local buses are right outside the hotel entrance. Lots of local shopping easily accessible. Many excursions to choose from while you enjoy your stay.

Let’s be honest, the staff are amazing, every single one of them try to make your stay enjoyable. Our room was in the garden block (room 352) which was quiet even though it is close to the Mongoose pub. Housekeeping was good on the whole but inconsistent with clean towels....

Let’s be honest, the staff are amazing, every single one of them try to make your stay enjoyable. Our room was in the garden block (room 352) which was quiet even though it is close to the Mongoose pub. Housekeeping was good on the whole but inconsistent with clean towels. The shower had issues with hot or warm water taking a long time to flow through. The buffet food is bland, there is very little salad or vegetables on offer and hardly any local authentic offerings. The breakfast is nearly the same every day but the egg station was really good. We felt that the food was boring and everything is sweet in flavour. Umi is great with a very tasty menu, Sizzle is also good but be prepared to pay extra costs for a decent steak. There is entertainment every evening, some were of the acts are better than others. Set your alarm for 5am to reserve sunbeds by the pool, by 7am they will all be reserved. The beach is great with the Watersports team doing a great job finding you beds and a beach umbrella. We had no seaweed in November. We don’t go to the same place twice so will not be returning, we felt it was a lazy place and didn’t understand the big hype on the Sugar Bay Facebook page, however, every one expects different things from their holiday and this hotel didn’t live up to our expectations for the price we paid and the star rating.

Food not really that good but not the end of the world, too many drinkers on plane having a few too many, (because it's free and they can). Unfortunately they then get loud and moany when there's no booze of their choice left. Some of these were cabin crew from other airlines?? Other niggles, paper cutlery is not a good idea e when the foods moist ?? Last niggle of the flight, (I promise), the headphones are cheap and very poor quality, fix it so we can bluetooth our own to the entertainment and also I couldn't access the free flying club internet as it was too complicated. Arrival on time into Grantley Adams and it was crazy busy . The transfers need some working on as we were told to stand near a yellow box and someone would shout us, unfortunately another 30 people were told the same. Eventually off we went on a private transfer that took us inland to avoid the crazy coastal traffic that is Barbados , I lo ed this as it showed you a slice of community life on the Island. Having visited the island back in 1987 Pirates Inn on Brownes gap I can see that millions have been spent on some beach front accomodations but absolutely nothing on the coastal traffic infrastructure. Terrible roads, awful pedestrian walkways akin to 3rd world. It is quite intimidating being a pedestrian on the coastal rd as the ZR van drivers are crazy and you can see them often overtake in very dangerous places to try and get to the next customers first. A very poor standard of driving in heavy tourist areas. Need to get some speed cameras up to get some revenue to spend on the roads. (However I have wandered off topic here a bit 🤣🤣) Arrived at resort after a chatty and informative transfer with Nicholai like all Bajans they love to chat and engage with visitors to their homeland 🇧🇧. Check in very quick, welcome drink and off to room 131, ground floor behind the pool. Great room with large balcony, 2 padded sun loungers but not much view due to the heavily tree and bush laden resort (not a criticism). Excellent AC lovely spacious room, couple niggles , needs access to room through patio to be lockable, needs magnifying shaving mirror in bathroom, probably a ceiling fan to better circulate the cool air evenly throughout the room. TV Amazing. Insect repellent and tablets provided in the room and to be honest we did get bitten even after using the usual skin so soft, citronella etc and we expected to considering we are on a TROPICAL island but I dont think this was in the room. Sunbeds could get busy round the pool but plenty on beach and always somewhere to chill and relax. Advice for SB ( the sunbed pads need replacing with waterproof ones, the existing ones are now suffering from stains and mould damage, the actual sunbeds are great it's just the pads, would also look so much better and be much more practical after one of the numerous short, but often torrential showers, which meant you often sat on a soggy bed, resulting in a soggy towel and prob more costs in towel laundry. Pool bar great, pool depth be careful, very very shallow. Another niggle was the distinct lack of poolside and beach bar toilets , only 2 stalls and no urinals for gents just behind reception, to service the restaurant, the pool,vthe beach bar and beach nearby. To be honest we were lucky to have ground floor near pool and used this all the time for the toilet. Atmosphere and ambience at Sugar Bay was by far and away STAFF led and this was the overwhelming reason the resort felt happy, typically Bajan, customer focused and hospitality and service were great. Drinks and food all excellent, UMI great and Sizzle great. Was disappointed that Blush coffee shop was a pay extra facility. Colin's beach bar excellent daily special and a pleasant place for lunch, in my opinion should be open 10-10 daily to provide that extra choice and disperse guests a little more evenly to avoid cloggin the Reef restaurant and bar at meal times. We were there for 9 nights and can honestly say never had one remotely poor meal, the food was always great quality. Maybe crisps and snacks at the bar ? 24 hour coffee machine on the beach decking was always welcomed early mornings while savouring the view. Regular evening entertainment was very good from fire eating limbo show to singers and dancers ,car enjoyed this all. We only visited the Mongoose pub a couple of times, not much atmosphere here and would maybe benefit from earlier opening IE 1800-0100 to develop more vibe. Possible karaoke as it's out of the way (only a suggestion people🤣🤣) I hope this review gives you a flavour of Sugar Bay , would I return? , in a flash. I feel that this resort is clean and tidy and SAFE (as is the whole island outside to be honest). I cannot stress enough how much the staff are the main reason so many people we met were return visitors. I can't say a bad word about any member of staff , their friendly Bajn smiles and greetings made you feel valued and welcome. It was also nice to see the younger members of staff being mentored by their elders ,Joan, Sophie, Kay Damien , Nicholas M all setting great examples of hospitality and engagement with guests. In conclusion ! (I know, bout time eh 🤣🤣). A Bajan hospitality experience hugs you till you leave. We just returned for Sugar Bay after a 6 night stay in an oceanfront king room. The most impressive thing about this resort is the staff. Efficient, pleasant, friendly, happy to be working there. The food is very good, the buffet is smallish but he resort is small. The best meal of the day is dinner, Jumbo shrimp show up is creative and delicious ways, There's a carving station. Every night there's some kind of pasta. Lunch is good, too, and breakfast is basic. There is indoor and outdoor seating. The room we had was wonderful, spacious and clean with terrific furniture. There are no drawers for your clothes, but there are cubbies that work. Bedding is excellent. You do not need a lot of clothes, This is not a fancy place with fancy people. The grounds, especially around to pool are beautifully landscaped. There is a pool bar with cute submerged stools. Get there early to get a lounge chair, Really early. The bay, where you can go into the water, is protected by a man made reef, rocks, that block the big waves. There are no waves at the shore but you will need water shoes for the pebbles at the edge of the water. In the six days, I never left the resort. The guests are mostly from the UK and they like Americans.

Our first time visiting the island on the 11th of October for one week from the uk, one week wasn’t enough! I have never been to a country or hotel where everyone literally everyone was so kind caring happy, the hotel felt like home, I liked it wasn’t a huge complex, it was compact and the feel is just one to be witnessed, thank you for an amazing stay, nothing was at fault room perfect beach perfect food beautiful, one drink isn’t enough you have coffee water juice lined up and sometimes and extra surprise , the staff took time to ask about you your life what you would like to see and do while visiting they would recommend places to go, our whole trip was the most relaxing holiday I ever have had! Thank you for learning us the slow calm pace of life even for one week, we are booking to come again next October and already counting the days, thank you for making me fall in love with Barbados, it’s out now favourite place xxx

Late decision to take an extra holiday, picked SB based on you tube video and reviews here. Overall we loved it. It's a small, relaxed resort with low key (but perfectly pleasant) entertainment. Pool area is small, and loungers were taken early - for us not a problem as the beach is lovely. Didn't go in pool all week. Others seemed to love it - each to their own. Food is good, buffet (which I normally only tolerate at breakfast) was really good, small but all good stuff. Colin's beach bar was good for drinks and 'pub style' lunches. We did Sizzle once and Umi twice (really good). We found drinks overall very good (especially rum based drinks) and service prompt. Beach bar good, and nice to sit with an on-shore breeze cooling you down. Room was good, decent size and very well presented, but not super luxury - we had the standard (superior?) room. A friendly, relaxed resort with great staff and lovely beach, will look to return.

Well what can I say, a fantastic holiday, the beach is just beautiful, amazing food (especially the buffet) drinks are of exceptional quality, not your watered down or pre mixed cocktails. You must try the mudslides!! A meal in itself! We stayed in room 352, lovely sized room with a spacious balcony. Comfortable bed. Not many plug sockets so bring an extension lead. Cleaning excellent. Rain Forrest shower abit off in that water comes out fast in only the middle of it but hand help shower was fine. You need to be up early to get a bed round the pool - the usual 5am towels are out, shame but it makes you ‘one of them’ or you miss out. Lots of beds all day on the beach. Handy water stations around the complex, bottles available at reception too. We booked trips at reception, staff very helpful at all times. We did the 6am Tuesday walk up to Pebble beach to see the race horses in the sea, this was abit of a disappointment in that it was not the race horses but people charging for photos and rides. I guess go earlier to see the actual race horses? We also done the Cool Runnings Sunset Catamaran cruise, highgly recommend this was an amazing trip- great guys. Our 10 day holiday was perfect and we will definitely return one day.

I don't think there is anything that hasn't been said before about this super hotel. We arrived back in September and from the moment we checked in to the moment we said goodbye we could not have wished for anything more. We loved every second of our stay (except the pigeons :) ). Check in / out: Seamless. The boys and girls on reception were super helpful and couldn't do enough to help / guide and advise. The room: The room was an ocean front room and it was wonderful. Spacious, massive bed and a great bathroom. Great air con too. The patio area was comfortable and 5 strides from the glorious beach. Kimberly kept our room spotless and was the friendliest person I have ever met. The food: Wonderful. Unlike any AI I have been to before. Not a million things to pile on your plate but instead, quality products that were perfectly cooked and not a chip in sight! Breath of fresh air! Everything was fresh and high quality. The guys and girls looking after you in there are second to none, all smiles and very attentive without been "in your face". Both specialist restaurants were also just fabulous. Umi - big portions, wonderfully cooked and beautifully presented. Sizzle - the BEST steak I think I have every had. Cooked to absolute perfection, no fat / veins running through it, just perfect served with a lovely salad . Warm in the restaurant but didn't detract from the food. So full without a starter or a pud :) We went to this one twice, no reflection on Umi just a timing thing. For clarity as I have seen a lot of people asking on the Facebook group - 10 nights = 3 restaurant "tickets" The pool: Be prepared to melt, with it been well away from the beach the breeze was none existent - perfect for me but if you are not a sun worshiper go to the beach :) Small pool but perfect just for a quick cool off. Sun loungers round the pool are super comfortable too - so if you are a sunbed snoozer don't forget your sun cream :) The Beach - just glorious. Where I spent most of my days. Nice breeze, quiet, sea like stepping into a hot tub. Perfect and only a quick walk to the bar - bonus!! The main bar: The guys and girls on the bar were mostly all smiles and did cocktails that were fabulous. Mudslide was my favourite. Collins - we only went once as we camped out at the other end of the beach - didn't eat just a beer. Preferred the main bar. Gym: machines outdated but for a quick "damage limitation" session (see mudslide comment above :):):) it did the job. Overall a friendly, welcoming place where you were in the most greeted with a smile and a wave. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend SB. Thank you team Sugar Bay for an experience we will never forget

For our 25th wedding anniversary, we decided to shoot big, and get out of our comfort zone and leave the US. Our stay was outstanding! As soon as we arrived we were greeted with smiles, rum punch and the sweetest people. The buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner never disappointed. With a different theme everyday there's something for everyone and plentyyy to choose from. And for those people who complain about it, I'm convinced they're the people who nothing will make them happy and complain just for the sake of it. One of our servers, Breanna was such a sweetheart, i know shes going to do great things! Keep that smile girl🥰, it works well on you! The rooms were clean, comfortable and air conditioned. Shamara, Germaine, and Kimberly were always around keeping things spotless, with smiles on their faces everyday, they were so pleasant and welcoming, and Kimberly is the cutest ball of fun! The staff were amazing and the bartenders were on point. Joan, Helen and Lee are super sweet, fun to talk to and whip up some banging drinks, anything you can possibly think of and a few you'd never think of! Try Joan's Bounty 😉. But we have to give extra extra props to Akiel. Not only was he on point, friendly, out going, would show up on the beach with our favorite drinks without even asking, AND also makes some amazing drinks, but he went ABOVE and BEYOND for us on multiple!!!! occasions!!!! on his days off none the less. We cant even express our extreeme gratitude. Sugarbay is lucky to have him! We're looking forward and cant wait to go back!

Spent a week earlier in October at the Sugar Bay with partner on an all-inclusive basis. The hotel is quite compact, not a sprawling affair and everything happens around a central reception area. The buildings are set back from the main road and there is no intrusive noise from the surroundings. Our double room was clean and comfortable with maid service regular in the morning although replacement of bathroom towels could take place at any time later in the day. There is plenty of choice at breakfast, lunch and dinner with consideration of dietary requirements, however waiter service for drinks and table clearing could be a bit better. The bars are well staffed and offer plenty of choice. Families and children are accommodated well. Anyone who has been to an all-inclusive hotel in the Caribbean will recognise what is on offer here, perfectly satisfactory but not a stand out either.

Just had a fabulous 10 nights at Sugar Bay. The food is great. Who doesn't appreciate eating whilst overlooking the ocean. They catered extremely well for hubby who is coeliac. The drinks are incredible, you have to try the mud slides ( it's a drink not an activity) Spend time at the pool bar making new friends. The pool area is cleaned daily, and there's a nice touch of pool towels on sunbeds. Towels are also provided for the beach and can be changed daily. What makes this place stand out is the staff. Nothing is too much trouble and are all friendly.

My husband and I had a great time here last week. Great location, everyone was so friendly, delicious food - we would definitely come back! We’ve been to many all inclusive resorts across the Caribbean and this one ranks at the top. Pros - I have a gluten intolerance (not celiac) and had no problem with the food here. There was always gluten free bread, muffins, and dessert in a separate section. In the buffet the chefs were so helpful pointing out what was safe, they clearly communicated they use cornstarch instead of flour wherever possible. - There are 2 restaurant on site (steakhouse and Japanese) and because we were there for 6 nights got to eat at each of them once. - We never had problems getting a seat or umbrella at the beach of pool. Could have helped that we were there off peak! Loved that the beach water was calm because it was protected by the reef. We snorkeled directly off the shore and there were lots of fish to see. - We also got a lovely room upgrade with a beach view and separate living room area from the bed. - Service was great, everyone was so friendly. Our room was always kept clean. A few small cons were that the bed was too firm, the pool was a bit small, and the bedding was a bit rough. But other then that no complaints! I would definitely return
