I had a great experience from the point of check in , was received well by a lady named (Esther) at the front desk, we had a short trip to visit Mombasa ,and were to view and stay 3 different hotels , apon check out Esther advised us on the offer they had,but since we had booked another hotel we had to leave.
The hotel we went was not good and since Ester had mentioned the offer we had to come back on the same day, she was of much help apon moving back to the hotel at night,
She is really good in marketing the hotel and ensuring that the customers get the best experience with The hotel.

I came here 8 years ago and had really great memories of Whitesands. I am delighted to say my expectations from my previous visit have been exceeded.
It’s just a wonderful place to relax, recharge and enjoy Kenyan hospitality.
The rooms are good, kept spotlessly clean by the housekeeping teams. The beach is just amazing, always something going on, pure white sands as the name suggests. Lots of beach bars and restaurants selling all types of food and drinks. (Yul’s a 5 min walk away is highly recommended)
This time I went B&B which was perfect as the breakfast buffet is superb and then you can do what you like including eating at the Whitesands Beach Bar or one of the restaurants if you don’t feel like looking elsewhere.
Staff are amazing. Genuinely seem to care about their guests experience, and that includes everyone. Reception, housekeeping, bar staff and even security.
Don’t be alarmed by the security guards. As far as I could see their main function was to keep the little monkeys away from the main hotel.
Great pools and a lovely spa almost in the beach.
A special mention to Michael and Magdalene at Cocos beach bar for the fun, the smiles and the care.
I’ll be back.

This hotel is absolute paradise, it’s ran so well and deserves the highest praise for every single staff member. It was our first visit to Mombasa and we were made to feel so welcome the team could not do enough for you thank you all so much for making our trip one to remember.
The hotel is immaculate it’s so clean the gardens are unbelievable and so well kept the rooms are spotless.
The food was fantastic we stayed all inclusive and it was perfect the spa was brilliant we both had a treatment that I would 100% recommend, the spa pool was super quiet and peaceful, pool attendant made sure you had fresh towels every day and the bar guys come back and forth with drinks.
Rooms are serviced as much or as little as you would like there’s a button at the door you push to let the cleaning team know what you want they did an amazing job.
The location is idilic right on the beach cool breeze if you want some relief from the blistering sun.
The hotel is fully secure with a team of guards at every point in and out of the hotel so we always felt super safe although I would say walking on the beach is just as safe, you will get hounded a lot by the beach sellers and they were all really polite just as long as you be clear and say no thank you if it’s not something you want they are persistent but all super friendly we bought some coconuts to dink and they were delicious best I have ever had. The hotel have taxis so if your going out use the hotels service they are really reasonable and very reliable for pick up and drop off we went to Haller park and it was a worthwhile trip to feed the giraffes.
Some things that might come in handy for anyone to know who is booking below.
Water is provided every time you get your room serviced and you can get more at the beach bar to take back to the room.
You have to sign for all drinks including water
There’s a hairdryer in the room they don’t have an iron or board but one is available if you need it.
There are monkeys everywhere, don’t feed them. They won’t bother you if you just go about your business.
Glass bottom boat is free if you are all inclusive but you need to pay 2500KES each as a government tax the trip is around 3 hours and well worth it the snorkelling was brilliant and the team really look after you.
Tipping is recommended as the team all work really hard to make sure you are having the best time and although it’s not expected lots of people including us made an effort to tip for drinks etc.
Rooms are great with loads of space we had a ground floor and it was perfect.
Thanks again to the whole team for making our trip perfect.

1 ) I have been to over 40 countries, and this is the only hotel which has ever, at check-in, asked me to sign a complete blanket waiver of all my rights and giving them complete unaccountability for anything, including their own negligence. FYI I refused to sign it and they still let us check in.
2 ) The room packages including food were deliberately misleading because the hotel website offered 4 restaurants - but upon arrival they only allowed the (bad quality, lots of choice) buffet restaurant as being included. We had opted for half-board and now regret that.
Eating at the buffet the first night made me violently ill all of the next day and I could not even visit Mombasa proper, to see Fort Jesus or the Tusks, before we left the next morning.
To add insult to injury we asked to swap our second (final) dinner, having already paid for a full included dinner, to just get a simple (~$2 cost) pizza to help me eat something simple. They said no, we would have to pay additional for the full ~$17 menu price each, even after speaking to the manager as well.
Awful service, terrible mentality and also awful business because it was an immoral money-grab to make us pay more for simple food which won’t continue making me ill. After making me ill already, and us already paying US$497 for two nights half board.
3 ) Oh, and the in-room WiFi is too slow to consistently stream Netflix or similar streaming services on a laptop. Lots of long stuck loading screens in the middle of a show. Interestingly, we had to log in to the WiFi using our room number. And after our food request above, our WiFi got even worse. Maybe it was just becoming a busy time of evening 🤷♂️
Speedtest - Download speed 0.33MBps, Upload speed 3.41MBps. Tuesday December 10th at 11pm local time. Terrible in 2024 when advertising that WiFi is ‘available’ for guests. I couldn’t even get my streaming service to load the intro screen for a live football game after 45 minutes of trying. In the end I had to use my mobile phone, on roaming cellular data charges, to watch the second half.
4 ) Oh, and the hotel has rigged the in-room air conditioning unit to never take the room below 23 degrees Celsius, no matter what you set the target temperature to. It just never gets colder than 23 degrees C. Another example of how the owners/managers are devious. My hope is that the nice staff we interacted with weren’t in on these strategic-level ploys.
5 ) Positively; they have backup generators which kick in quickly after the regular power outages.

We have just returned home after our first visit to Sarova Whitesands, Mombasa and we are already looking to plan another holiday there as we loved it that much. This is a truly wonderful resort with great facilities, amazing food and drink options, beautiful gardens and beach front, and most importantly professional, friendly and welcoming staff who went the extra mile to make our vacation extra special and enjoyable. We would like to send a special thank you to the staff at the Lido restaurant where we ate lunch most days - with a specific shout out to Rose, Angela, Paulette, head chef Fred and rest of the kitchen staff. We would also like to send a thank you to William and Arnold for their great bar service, to Davis and Justus for their pool service, and to Brian on the entertainment team who we really enjoyed playing table tennis with. Sarova Whitesands is a very special resort and we would highly recommend it.
