From the wonderful staff that feels like family, to the luxurious, well-maintained accommodations, and the inventive cocktail hour that precedes each gourmet dinner under the stars overlooking the Pacific, Rancho Pacifico scores big wins in all categories.
A surprisingly remote yet accessible location makes one feel like a traveler to a faraway locale, but the RP team offers sufficient opportunities to explore nearby beaches, towns and nature areas.
We’ve already booked our 2026 return; otherwise, it would have been just too difficult for us to end this visit!

My wife & I stayed at Rancho Pacifico for the second half of our honeymoon, and we came back from it wishing we’d stayed there the full week. All the staff members at RP were all so personable, and they made us feel so celebrated and welcome. Every interaction was warm and inviting, and the service was incredible. They even found the local church for us to attend on Sunday and arranged a ride for us to get there. You certainly do not find that kind of personal care very often. The food and drinks were all delicious, and you definitely will never leave the table hungry. We got the pleasure of meeting Jennie & Greg, the owners of RP, which was great and reassuring to know they are invested in the everyday functions of the hotel. Rancho Pacifico is a very special place, and we will definitely be back!

Wow… What a memorable experience! And we are really picky travellers! If you are looking for a high end small boutique resort, this is it! Only just a few private villas that makes this place really quiet and everyone has privacy. If you are epicurean, you will be pleased. The food is spectacular! We haven’t had eaten that well in years! And the cherry on top is the magnificent views from everywhere. Being IN the jungle is a magical experience. Oh yeah, and the staff is super too! We would return in a heartbeat!

Mu husband and I had a magical vacation at your resort! We fell in love with it from the moment we walked in to be greeted by Henry. He greeted us by name and was kind, warm and accommodating, as was Sharon, the other concierge. Every day, even when it seemed they had to do multiple jobs, including carrying suitcases up and down the resort paths. In fact every single staff member was kind and courteous.
The Tree Houses were marvelous. We love the inside/outside design and spent every evening watching the sunset. Of course the Villa was gorgeous. The plunge pool is such a treat. And the view is spectacular.
The housekeeping services were also outstanding. Somehow, the staff kept tabs on when we went to breakfast and dinner and were able to clean the rooms and kitchenette and freshen the towels before we returned to our rooms!
Now to the food. The food was extraordinary. Your chef found ways to make each course delightful and delicious using the freshest ingredients — seafood, vegetables and fruits. And what words can I use to describe your waitstaff and bartender. Jason, Andre and Villenay were knowlegable, professional and kind. Seemingly there night and day, they truly take their jobs seriously and seem to strive to do their best every moment. We will be back.

Beautiful boutique resort nestled on a mountainside of the Costa Rican rainforest. Peaceful, quiet, relaxing…excellent chef-inspired cuisine prepared with fresh, local food. Service is impeccable and was wonderful to get to be welcomed by name and to interact with staff and other guests…Andre, Vianney, and Jason were especially amazing and fun to get to know. Our brand new treehouse had amazing views of the rainforest and Whales Tail Beach. Bedding was quite comfy and the entire resort is super clean and well maintained. The private outdoor showers and soaker tub were so relaxing and private. Amazing excursions were arranged by the staff (as was transportation to and from the sites) and we were able to hike Whales Tail beach/Marino Ballena Park, and take trips whale watching (saw humpbacks), to Manual Antonio Park (saw 2 and 3 toed sloths) and to the Sierpe Mangrove (boat tour and saw Howler/Squirrel/and White-faced monkeys, cayman and crocs, scarlet macaws, toucans and a boa.) we had a marvelous time and I would highly recommend Rancho Pacifico

The staff at Rancho Pacifico was so wonderfully attentive, caring, and professional it was very hard to leave. All adults and very small crowds at the most amazing dinner we have had in years. We left healthier in mind and body than when we came. Thank you. Would def love to come back.

If you are looking for a quiet place to escape and relax look no further! Husband and I stayed in the Villa Romintica for 5 nights and loved every second of it. The people, the food, the villa, everything was what they described and more!
They do have a free shuttle that can take you to the beach and around the local town. It can take you down at 10:30 and then pick you up at 1:30 (if you want to leave before or after that it will cost $35). We went to the beach one day, the Saturday Market, and the waterfall!!
They are NOT Joking about the climb to get up to the resort. The drive is about 15 mins and you have to take a 4*4 vehicle. Thank goodness we didn’t try to drive up it ourselves.
We did the hike to the waterfall near the resort. They are also not joking about how steep it is. Gorgeous and would do it again but take that walking stick! I didn’t think we would need it but I’m glad we grabbed it.
We did the 90 minute couples massage- AMAZING.
I can’t recommend this place enough. Worth every penny. The staff is sooo friendly and wonderful. Shoutout to Andrey and Jason- but literally everyone there is so sweet. When we were in our room we felt like we were the only ones in the whole jungle. We really hated going to resorts (sandals, etc.) that were just crawling with people. At Rancho Pacifico you go to dinner and see like 4 others couples. Where else can you be treated so wonderfully and be so secluded?
We hope to be back one day!! Thank you for everything Rancho Pacifico!

We chose this hotel as it was the only available 5-star option during the New Year period. Its location near the top of the mountain means that reaching the main road takes about 10 to 15 minutes, depending on the weather conditions. While the hotel is rated as a 5-star property, it does not meet the standard I would typically expect from this category.
The room was smaller than anticipated and quite noisy due to its proximity to the restaurant and being situated below the pool area. Additionally, basic amenities such as slippers and other expected in-room essentials were missing.
On a positive note, most of the staff were very friendly, which helped make the stay more pleasant.

We stayed 4 nights in the Villa Romantica at Rancho Pacifico in January 2025. My husband planned this trip to celebrate my birthday and it was AMAZING. I won’t reveal how special they made my birthday. Some things should be a surprise.
There is an old saying “No pain, No gain” and that would adequately describe the drive to RP. Just be prepared for a 4 ½ hour drive before you get to “Paradise”. The anticipation continued to mount as we got closer to our destination. NOTE: We highly recommend that you have RP reserve a drive service for you. DO NOT RENT A CAR. TRUST ME.
Once we arrived at RP, all our worries just slipped away. We were met by Noelli and her staff who whisked away our luggage and escorted us to the bar before being shown to our table for dining that had been reserved for us, with an incredible bird’s eye view of the city far below. Noelli’s keen eye to customer service sensed that food and drink was a priority, and we could tend to the “orientation” the next day.
Just as I wasn’t fully prepared for the long drive, I wasn’t prepared for the INCREDIBLE food being presented to us the first night. Each day thereafter, we were amazed at the chef’s creations and artful presentations of each delicacy. For example, one of the two starters was a flash fried avocado coated with pistachio flour and a delectable sauce with frisee and chopped pistachios on top.
Now a few words about our Villa. Secluded, private pool, large wrap around deck with incredible views and luxurious bedding for the best night sleep ever.
Hiking trails were rated moderate to difficult and we found this to be true. The spa was wonderful-we had 90-minute massages including facials. We were looking for a relaxing, do nothing, vacation so I can’t comment on all the extracurricular adventures, but other guests commented on the zip lining and ATV tours and were happy with them. RP will drive you into town, so a car is not needed.
The staff was incredible: Noelli, Theresa and Sharon were great at the concierge desk. Jason, Andrey, and Vianney were wonderful in the restaurant and bar. Jonathan was an extraordinary chef. Natalia took great care in housekeeping.
I highly recommend RP for a romantic getaway.

My husband and I just left Rancho Pacifico and already I want to go back. It’s a small peaceful resort in the hills of Uvita (a bit rocky to get there but well worth it). The grounds and views from that high up are just gorgeous and falling asleep to the sounds of the wildlife is unforgettable.
The food was some of the best I’ve had in my travels, so fresh and thoughtfully prepared. The cocktails are made with premium ingredients and fresh juices (no overly processed sugary drinks here). With the resort being so small it was lovely to sit at the bar during happy hour and talk to the others guests and staff.
What to say about the staff….other than we are now family. From the concierge to the spa staff and everyone in between, they go out of their way to make your stay memorable. We laughed and we even cried while sharing stories of our lives and loves. Jason, Andrey and Teresa especially made our stay the absolute best and I will miss them when I get back home.
I highly recommend getting the adventure package and letting the staff curate everything for you. They take care of every detail and leave nothing for you to worry about.
Thank you Rancho for making us feel at home and we can’t wait to come back.

This was probably the best vacation I have ever been on. The Rancho Pacifico staff made our trip soo easy I didn't need to think about anything. All logistics, excursions, and food were taken care of. If we had an event before the kitchen opened in the morning, they made us a "to go" breakfast the night before to take with us. If the restaurant was in the states, the food would be of michelin star quality. The food was just over the top. . The staff give you a whatsapp number to communicate with the entire stay which they answer immediately if you have any questions or need to order that in-room guac. The staff went over the top to ensure we had a great stay. They even surprised us one day with a room decoration (not going to spoil the surprise). The on-site spa was great as well. I'd highly suggest making your next vacation to Costa Rica at this resort.

Rancho Pacifico exceeded all expectations. The hotel is on a mountainside and the honeymoon suite views are GORGEOUS. The pool/dining area was beautiful and also had views overlooking the mountain and out into the ocean. The food was great, which was one of my biggest concerns because I am a picky eater. The staff is super polite. The owner went as far as to drive into town and get me some chips and cookies when I asked if the hotel offered late night snacks. The waiters/bartenders were personable, funny, and always helpful. The front desk ladies went above and beyond making sure we had everything we needed/wanted and always responded promptly. I don’t enjoy traveling as much as some but I HIGHLY recommend Rancho Pacifico.

We went to RP back in Sep 2023 on our honeymoon and it was absolutely amazing. We were treated like royalty, everyone was so kind & personable, the food was amazing, the activities and service were perfect. RP’s property is so beautiful and relaxing, we are so grateful we chose it for our honeymoon. Everything was planned for us by the staff so we could just relax. We unfortunately had a flat tire when traveling to one of our activities and the RP staff got our location and drove out to us, took us to our activity to make sure we weren’t late, while the other staff member called car service and waited by the car. Then, after the tire was fixed, they drive our car to the location so we could just get in the car and head home with no trouble. How could service get better than that?

Our honeymoon was nothing short of perfection! Rancho Pacifico’s customer service starts before you even touch down in Costa Rica. They answered all of our questions and arranged transportation to and from the airport for us. Upon arrival we were met with smiling faces, cool towels and refreshing juices. We toured the property and were escorted to our room. It was STUNNING! Amazing views, comfy bed, double shower plus a tub in the wet room, we were in heaven. We ate every meal at the resort everyday and were never disappointed. The variety is fantastic. You get to try and eat local food as well as. Every night was a different and unique menu with at least 3 courses and your choice between 2 main entrees. Now don’t even get us started on the drinks… they were to die for! They also planned and coordinated outings/ adventures for us. We were able to go to a local market, walk the whales tale, horseback ride at sunset on the beach, zip line, waterfall repelling, go to a chocolate farm, kayak through mangroves, private treehouse yoga, 2 different spa treatments/ massages, and a side by side tour where we hiked a waterfall and went to a coffee farm! Now these are just things we wanted to do they have so many more options. But if adventure is not what you’re looking for the resort is very relaxing with an infinity pool and hot tub that over look the whales tale with the jungle behind you. It is the same view for every meal as well, absolutely breath taking. Beyond the views and the food the staff are a notch above. They a friendly and funny and take your lead if you are talkative so are they and if you want privacy they respect that! We were never left wanting or went without. We felt special and pampered in every way which is exactly what we wanted for our honeymoon. We will 100% be back!
