Fantastic location for doing some walks in the north of the island. Very chilled and relaxed. All the staff friendly and accommodating, the breakfast ladies in particular were delightful and cheery each morning. Dinner in both the main restaurant and pizzeria were good value and ideal not to have to go out again after a days hiking. Only niggle was the beds were very very firm although as most of the clientele are German this was not unexpected. It wasn’t a huge deal just a niggle.

After a lot of research looking for somewhere to spend the first week of our Madeiran honeymoon, we choose to escape to the amazing Hotel Quinta do Furão. We could not have chosen better. The team in the hotel were amazing, with daily personal touches, that made our stay very personal. They stepped in to help when we had a problem with our hire car company, they were generous with their time and provided some great tips about how we could get more from our own plans. The rooms were of a very high standard and, from its commanding position on top of cliffs, we could enjoy the view for miles along the coast from our balcony. Breakfast at the hotel is an absolute treat. The breakfast room is large and stylish, making a perfect place to start the day calmly. The choice of individually cooked meals and/or a very extensive buffet was ideal for us. With the of having breakfast outside, if you wish. We are serious explorers and normally spend very little time at hotels, the standard of the food at the Quinta do Furão drew us back several times, including our final lunch at the end of our honeymoon, as we had such happy memories there. The food available at the hotel is excellent and very generous. We would recommend trying anything that includes the local Santana sweet potato bread. In the evening there is the option to eat in the hotel’s restaurant, which is a very short walk (c100 metres) from the main hotel. The restaurant balcony gives great views of the wooded slopes down to the sea. For those wanting to rest and recuperate the hotel would a great place, being often the beaten track and having a wide range of facilities on site (spa, indoor and outdoor pools, gym, etc). It is also a great place for the more adventurous and we used the location has a launch pad to explore the north-east part of the island and the central mountains. We were able to drive out into the mountains and explore the stunning laurel forests, along the network of well marked footpaths, as well as travelling around an hour into Funchal. We would definitely recommend this hotel to family and friends, and it would be a definite place for us to stay on a return trip.

The staff were kind, friendly and calm and the food was amazing, local, fresh and delicious. Didn’t use the bar or facilities but they looked nice.. and they have a great tea choice at breakfast

We ate in both the pub and the restaurant at lunchtimes. We sought it out having found it by accident on our last visit to Madeira 6 year previously. Advertised as a Restaurant with a view...which it most definitely is, stunning.....so try and pick a bright shiny day. Nice people...

Great stay, lovely room with balcony looking out to sea, comfortable bed & great shower in bathroom. Breakfast has a superb choice, something to please everyone. Ate in the bar, restaurant & pizzeria all were very good. Staff friendly, polite & helpful. Would definitely stay again.

We loved everything about the Quinta. Setting, room, views, food, service — all exceptional. In fact, we extended our stay for three extra days as we could not bear to leave. There are many hotels to choose from in Madeira, but there is no need to look beyond this one....

This hotel has everything it promises and more. Everything is very thought-through, the full staff is very friendly, and the views from the hotel is magnificent. There is a big variety of food from the three different restaurants, to weigh up for the remoteness of the hotel.

I cannot say enough about what a wonderful time my husband and I had staying here. The staff at the hotel was warm and welcoming and could not do enough to make our stay exceptional. The room we had allowed us both a sea and garden view and I recommend...

The room we had allowed us both a sea and garden view and I recommend that you book one of those. The view of the sea is breathtaking. We also took advantage of a couple of the classes they offered and made our own bread which we took to our dinner later. Dinner at the restaurant was really good. We ate the a la carte options and enjoyed all three dinners we had there. The service of Shafayet was exceptional and he deserves a mention here. The pizza from the pizza place was also a great choice for a more relaxed bite. Overall this hotel was a beautiful relaxed place to spend a few days.
