The "suite" is a room with an open plan bathroom design (shower and sinks are in the room, which is quite odd). The bed was not very comfortable.

Located within a short 10m walk to the beach, Petousis is a nicely laid out hotel with great facilities (two pools and a gym). The breakfast buffet was plentiful and there were many sunbeds available. Having the 'pool bar' available for food was an added bonus as well as the reasonably price Petousis Tavern on site. Be aware, in both instances, they feed you incredibly well and for reasonable prices too.
There is easy access to Iraklion via the Hop on Hop off bus which stops around 10m from the hotel- as well as a local bus stop just on the main road outside.

Well we have just returned from a 11 night stay. We had a swim up room, and it was amazing, the bed was very comfortable and had no trouble sleeping, the suite was spacious and the photos are exactly what you get. All the staff are very friendly and nothing was to much trouble. A special mention to Anna on front desk, who gave us some tips on were to visit in Heraklion town and Marina our maid, who was lovely. The restaurant attached to the hotel, is the best in the area, you know it’s good when the locals use it too and the food was extremely tasty and there’s plenty of choices, we recommend the Lamb chops.

The pool is amazing, a lot of beds and tables area and most importand - CLEAN!

Lovely holiday from start to finish. Upon arrival we were greeted by the loveliest staff and explained the way to our room.
Our room was a junior suite which was truly amazing. It was modern, the decor was beautiful, cleanliness absolutely spot on. Modern bathroom with a great shower, a living area and a spacious bed. Additional benefits included a smart TV, fridge, safe. Our room had two balcony areas which we were so shocked about!
The staff had also left some complimentary snacks for us in the room such as fresh fruit, nuts and also a bottle of wine. This was a lovely touch.
There are two pool areas which were both clean and had plenty of sunbeds. We managed to get a bed every time we went to the pool. Pool towels are also available and can be exchanged when required for new ones. One of the pools has a bar offering drinks and snacks/food.
Bar near the reception is nice with welcoming and kind staff. There is also entertainment, we arrived on the night of live music and it was wonderful to sit back and enjoy whilst having a drink.
We opted in for half board on this stay but did not use it as much. There is some choice and food was nice, however we did prefer to go out for our food.
The hotel also offered various trips and excursions which they assisted with booking. We had a little issue with our trip (no fault of the hotel) however they were extremely helpful with assisting us to resolve this.
The reception area was modern and someone was always around to help. Location of the hotel was decent- beach was 10 minute walk away, where you can find sunbeds and some lovely places for cocktails and food. There is a bus stop right outside the hotel in case you want to or need to get to places. Plenty of restaurants and bars and also shop across the street.
We cannot recommend the Taverna enough- the food was delicious, portions were huge and the staff also offered complimentary desert and drinks to us which was a lovely touch!

Facilities were good and pool okay but very cold. Stayed bed breakfast and dinner! This is where the experience turns sour!!. Breakfast was akin to prison, not that I have experienced that but I'm guessing? For a four star establishment extremely poor. We have stayed in various 4* across Europe, Meliá, Barcelo, Labrandra to name a few and this was by FAR the worst!!! The dinner was also closer to 2* I would assume. It maybe that there is a restaurant "Petousis" adjacent to the accommodation? Trying to push extra business. However we tried their Al Carte one night and again extremely poor IMO, ended up not paying as could not eat it🤮. Last two days of stay the buffet was closed and they gave us meal vouchers for the restaurant with a half board menu. Which to our surprise was actually okay. Now if that was the half board experience I would not be writing this review. So to summarise, 4* facilities with prison food at the buffet, I'll let you decide!!!! My honest opinion is franchise margin based food quality with a public surface face🤔.
Also would not return based on this, food is fundamental to your daily experience.

This hotel cannot be faulted! Situated in the popular sea - side resort of Ammoudara, Gazi , only 8 km from the international Airport of Heraklion. There are tourist shops and tavernas on the main thoroughfare, with the hotel entrance located in a side street leading direcly to a beautiful and huge sandy beach. The staff are highly trained and happy to help and the level of cleanliness is superb. Bedrooms are large and airy, with high ceilings. Aircon is efficient and not intrusive. The bedrooms have a funky feel with the stone hewn sink and huge mirror open to the room. Access to the very large shower (great power) is also from the bedroom. However, don't let this put you off, it gives a charming 'boutiquey' feel to the room, which is tastefully decorated. Food from the buffet style restaurant is fresh and varied. The Chef is fantasticand all the serving staff reflect the high standards instilled by the Manager. There is a Taverna attached to the hotel, should you wish to avail of it. The pool areas are immaculate. There are private pools for the suites and two large pools plus a children's pool for guests. The gym area is small but perfectly adequate. My husband and I will be returning to this gem!

lovely hotel, very comfortable everyone so helpful the cleaners, bar staff, reception, pool staff, manager everyone was just so great and friendly, only complaint we had was first night was given a lovely big room but balcony was opposite car park which had petrol fumes and cars in and out it was late but next day said to recetion and within a couple of hours given another rooom slightley smaller but just as lovely, but as we dont sit in bedroom but use balcony alot much better view, apart from that will return as so relaxing and also have good policy for sunbeds all have labels about leaving towels on sunbeds for too long, but we never had a problem as always plenty of beds around as it was october and fairly quiet, like I said will go again.

The food was also very good and it’s 25 minutes from the centre of Heraklion by bus. So very well located. I didn’t put five stats only because we could not use the pool after 18h00 which was the tiver that normally we would arrive from our daily activities. So in this sense we could not enjoy the pool that much, although it’s a beautiful area.
