Opal Sands

Spent the weekend at Opal Sands it was wonderful! Jenna and Chris Shea helped coordinate a surprise proposal set up and after celebration. They sent champagne and chocolate strawberries to our room too! Such a great resort! Will be forever special!

My wife and I visited the SeaGuini restaurant which was disappointing . Overpriced food and I was served a very overdone pork chop smothered in a thick sauce which killed the taste and with unappetizing vegetables . Wine list fine but no years displayed . This restaurant need to up its game considerably as the hotel is very nice and staff and service are good .

I am writing this review in regard to my son’s upcoming stay at Opal Sands! My son/daughter-in-law and our family all live in the Clearwater area! As many know we just went through 2 hurricanes (Helene & Milton). My son is a lineman and since Helene (Sept 26th) has worked (12-14) hour days/every day for up to 2 weeks without a day off. He had a day off when Milton hit and has worked everyday since then! Last week he made a reservation at Opal sands for him and his wife/kids as a ‘thank you’ for being so supportive during this time!!! The beginning of this week he was informed he was needed to work this weekend!! Long story short, yesterday he called Opal Sands to cancel and they said he is outside the time period (7 days) to cancel with refund! He would have to forfeit the reservation and lose $600+! That’s awful! Most hotels are (24-48) hr cancellation policy! Definitely will never stay there after this!!!

Gorgeous hotel and views- staff is attentive & friendly. Our room was not available for a LONG time after checking in and were upgraded to a suite, it was amazing and made our experience even better! Quick walk to the beach, shops and restaurants.

What a BEAUTIFUL resort! The staff and service were on point and the property was immaculate! Our bar staff at the pool, Nick and Allysa, were AMAZING! They felt like family from day one! Seaguini’s, their main restaurant, was delicious and the wait staff were great. We also called in room service for breakfast and then dinner one night and it was in our room within 40 minutes, hot and soooo yummy! I’d highly recommend this resort and will return here on our next trip to Clearwater!

Had an excellent stay at the Opal. Everyone was very friendly and the accommodations were fantastic. The staff at the Tiki Bar was very pleasant and Meg and Willie did an excellent job, they were hospitable, engaged in conversation and made their drinks the correct way. Meg's Pina Colada and Old Fashions were perfect. The Opal Spa and Boutique was well stocked and everyone was helpful. I look forward to staying at this location in the future.

Shoutout to Brian who actually thanked US for being great lol. Every single employee we bumped into was very courteous and friendly. I would stay here again and again (and plan to).

A great hotel but you might want to wait a couple of weeks to go there. Just checked in. It took 30 minutes to find a way that would put you in front of the hotel. The roads on both sides of the hotel entrance are closed. Major construction across the street. After 30 minutes I ignored the construction worker who said I couldn’t go to the hotel and drove down a closed road to get there. To valet you have to back up the hill to the front door. A little notice of what you are facing would have been helpful. Great hotel. Wait two weeks. At least.

We stayed at the Opal Sands in May, for a wedding on the hotel lawn. Then for the reception in the ballroom that night. For those two things, it was fine. The catering was good, our room was clean. But it's not a resort. It's not a place where you can recharge your batteries or get some peace and quiet. It's a party/tourist hotel. If you just want a hotel in the tourist section of Clearwater Beach, or you just want a hotel where you can party by the pool - and then party nearby that night - Yes, Opal Sands is a decent choice. The staff is okay but needs better training. When I'm in a suit and tie, walking past the pool, on my way to the lawn for the wedding, and I have my long-stemmed glass of wine that I got from the bar, the Pool Manager should have better sense than to stop me, tell me long-stemmed glasses are not allowed at the pool, and order me back inside to get the correct "poolside" glass. Geez, Pool Manager... look how I'm dressed... look where I'm going. But she couldn't handle that level of common sense. And when I ask the bar help where the restroom is, take three seconds to tell me. "Move, buddy, I got a bucket of ice" is not the correct response. Now you're going to be delayed even more; because I'm going to ask you a second time. But he couldn't handle that level of common sense either. So just know what the Opal Sands Resort really is before you book it. It's not really a resort. It's a decent hotel for tourists and partiers.

Returned as a couple after 6 years last visiting with a teenager , it’s even better than I remember, views sell it to me ,just fabulous. Rooms outstanding, love the 2pm ice cream , cookies and water on each floor in the pantry .Beach access , could go for a walk each morning barefoot! Staff super friendly in every area , love this hotel , got back last week and have booked for next year ! My slight concern is his Opal sol will affect things next year but we shall see . Also, having late flight , back to uk , no guest room to shower etc once checked out , which other hotels provide , found myself trying to shower by pool and getting changed for a night flight home in the restroom !
