Was a really lovely camp with excellent staff and game. The game in the camp was spectacular. The camp is a little dated and you only have WiFi in the lounge. The rooms themselves are a little dated with not really enough room, light or plug sockets no big deal....

Was a really lovely camp with excellent staff and game. The game in the camp was spectacular. The camp is a little dated and you only have WiFi in the lounge. The rooms themselves are a little dated with not really enough room, light or plug sockets no big deal. My only complaint was there was never enough food for lunch and dinner we were always hungry and could have eaten more. We were at the camp for 3 nights and then went on the bush camp where we complained about the amount of food and it was resolved. Would we go back to this camp? Good question as mentioned is a bit dated but the game was great so yes.

Second time with Robin Pope and third time in Zambia. Fulfilled all our expectations! First class staff providing a first class service. The camps were excellent from the accommodation, the food and the situation. Game viewing was excellent with very knowledgeable guides and scouts. Wonderful sightings of wild dogs!

Nsefu is an iconic camp - steeped in history and in a fantastic location - you would never tire of the view of the Luangwa river. Watching elephants cross has to be one of my favourite sights (of many!) from this trip. Whilst the rooms are smaller than some we have stayed in they are still a good size and the bathroom has ample storage space. Food was lovely and the Nsefu team looked after us so well, making us feel at home. We love the in mosquito net cooling system - just brilliant. Thank you Nsefu/RPS team for another memorable stay - we'll be back!

Nsefu camp was delightful it was like stepping back in time but with all modern facilities Willie our guide was exceptional, the staff at the camp were all amazing catering for my gluten free diet extremely well. Saw numerous leopards both night and day and had good visits to the local wild dog pack, all in all a wonderful visit. Thank you very much, I’m sure we will be back very soon. ,

We are happy to see what we see, but we did see leopards on two different days; and a wild dog pack resting, as we munched our picnic lunch. Well done Sebastian. Camp was closing , after us, for the rainy season….the kitchen ran out of one or two items… And on the way to Mfuwe airport, 2 lions ripping apart their overnight buffalo kill, as the vultures waited their turn . A trip across the Luangwa river on our way from river camp and a jeep safari brought us to another Robin Pope lodge. The lodge and rooms were located by a waterhole with its own hide and by the river. The rooms were good with outside shower rooms and inevitable mosquito nets. The beds had the benefit of airflow air conditioning providing welcome relief at night from the sweltering temperatures. We were moved efficiently when one of the rooms air con was not working. Electricity supply was somewhat erratic despite onsite solar panels. The reception area was open with comfortable sofas and chairs and a magnificent view of the river and waterhole. and, of course, a bar. Meals were served outside at a large communal table which was very sociable. Breakfast was a mix of cereals, eggs, toast or porridge; lunch was quiches or tarts and dinner was a choice of mains etc. As the previous camp, the food was of a high standard and the service was excellent. There were various visitors through the camp at different times with wild dogs passing by and, whilst at dinner, a member of the local pride!!! The regular arrival of elephants at the waterhole provided great entertainment and some superb photo opportunities from the hide at very close quarters. The game viewing away from the lodge was excellent and we were fortunate to see leopard, wild dogs, a pride of lions and elephant enlarge numbers. The morning drives were better partially because it was cooler but also we weren't obviously restricted by the night quickly closing in.

She listened to us and made sure the trip was what we wanted and she didn’t disappoint. Nsefu was our second camp in South Luangwa and was our touch of luxury in the trip. Very comfortable accommodation and great guiding. The whole ambience of the camp was relaxing with views over the river. Amazing food and great conversations round the Boma. Nine leopard sightings in three days was an amazing experience with one exciting encounter when a leopard was tracking along a gulley to approach some animals, no hunt but a real memory. This with the rest of the many animals was totally memorable. Thank you for the whole experience.

Nsefu Camp is located on a beautiful bend on the Luangwa River. Due to our stay coinciding with the dry season, we saw on a regular basis from our chalet elephant, giraffe, impala, puku, hyena, genet and baboons crossing or drinking from the river on a regular basis. Hippos and crocodiles can be observed living in the waters. The camp has a historic and heritage feel, indeed it is listed by the Zambian government as being of national importance, which allows the camp to thrive but also presents practical issues which I will explain below. Nsefu Camp has a central bar area, usually with a staff member or if not you can help yourself, a hide to observe animals and birds at a pan next to the camp, although it usually was not necessary as wildlife can be seen from the bar area or the chalets quite clearly. The bar has a spotter scope if you want to observe animals at a distance around the river and its banks. Meals, which are delicious and plentiful are taken on the lawn of the camp. There are fireside breakfasts with cereal, fruit, porridge, toast and eggs, before game drives are undertaken, watching the sunrise over the river valley. There is a brunch on return, which is usually a buffet with dessert. Afternoon tea is served before the afternoon/evening game drives, then a three-course dinner which is either a choice from a menu or a buffet. The meals are served communally, so you can meet other guests in the small camp of six chalets, creating a convivial atmosphere. The staff at the camp, led by Daudi, assisted by others like Jackson and Royd, are incredibly welcoming and attentive, and a real desire to make guests happy. As soon as we arrived, via vehicle and boat, Daudi briefed us on the camp and was honest in its limitations due to the difficulty of changing and modernising the camp due to its listed status. Wi-Fi is available in the chalets, which are powered by solar energy, but the hot water is created by ‘donkey boilers’ which require charcoal, which gives the camp at times a smoky smell that you soon get used to. It is not overbearing or oppressive. The water, which was always hot when needed, comes from a bore hole, so looks slightly tinted and smells slightly metallic when washing. It is safe and filtered drinking water without the smell and colour are provided in the rooms, and water is available on the game drives. Our double bed with a mosquito net was very comfortable. If you are warm there is s cool breeze system that acts as air conditioning for the bed but not the rest of the room. There are plug sockets by the bed. The bed takes up most of the chalet bedroom space, which is a roundavel shape, so circular in shape, with a thatched roof, meaning there isn’t much space for much aside from the bed bar a chair and a headboard shelf. We spent most of the daytime in camp on the deck outside the room watching the wildlife including vervet monkeys that live on site and admiring the landscape. Otherwise, the chalets can feel a little cramped and lacking in places to put things down or plug things in. At the rear of the chalet is a bathroom area, hidden from the bedroom with a curtain, and contains an outdoor shower, sink, shelves, safe, rail for coat hangers and a toilet. Chalets are close together and the bathroom area is not fully enclosed so some may get paranoid about privacy, but I did not feel this was an issue. The drive to and from the camp goes through the South Luangwa National Park, so you effectively get bonus game drives. Part of our arrival from another sector of the national park involved a short boat trip and climbing up and down a riverbank, some people may find this section challenging. Laundry except women’s underwear, due to cultural reasons, is available in camp, it has a fast turnaround and done to a high standard. There is no pool onsite. You can move around camp independently during the day, but you need an escort at night but always exercise awareness. Our breakfast was nearly interrupted by hippos one morning and an elephant joined us for dessert one evening, so we had to stay in the bar until he moved off. As a result, the location of the camp is magical and you will struggle to get closer to nature, the very reason why people come to Nsefu Camp. Our game drives with excellent guides Danny and Brown were superb, we saw lions, leopard, elephant, buffalo, kudu, waterbuck, impala, puku, bushbuck, hippos, hyena, civets, genets, zebra, giraffe, tree squirrels, scrub hares, porcupines, mongoose, warthogs and baboons on our drives. The landscape in this sector of the park is interesting, switching from forest, open grassland, riverside, streams and hot springs. We loved our three nights at Nsefu Camp, it is a genuine safari experience with important links to the start of wildlife tourism in Zambia and phenomenal for encounters with nature.

The camp is situated in an excellent location by the river, with lots of wildlife around the camp. Hippos were munching close by at breakfast time, (5.30), one lunch time we had the delight of watching a group elephants cross the river and at the end of dinner one evening a couple of lionesses could be seen in the distance. We were very well hosted and enjoyed all of the meals. Our game drives were very enjoyable and well guided by the very knowledgeable and experienced Daudi, who was also the camp manager. We had an excellent sighting of a leopard with her very young cub which she was slowly encouraging to venture out. Daudi said that it was the first time that he had seen the cub and it was lovely to watch the interaction between mother and cub. The only negative point about the camp is the small size of the bedroom area in the rooms. This is down to historic reasons and planning permission issues and we were aware of this before we booked. However this was compensated for by a really good sized bathroom/dressing area and a nice outside sitting area. We loved our stay at Nsefu

Camp is clean and tidy, all meals were very good. The view of the river is fantastic and bird life was very good. Rooms are small and close together but have a nice feel. Meals are a little awkward. Wildlife in this area wasn't very dense, June is earlier in the season I know but there wasn't much going on in terms of larger animals. If there were more animals around it would have been fine.
