River View
On the banks of the Luangwa river, in the remote Nsefu sector on the north side of South Luangwa National Park, you’ll find the historic Nsefu camp. Nsefu is operated by Robin Pope Safaris which is the only operator in this area of the park. It was the very first photographic safari camp in Zambia, and dates back to the fifties. Robin Pope Safaris took over Nsefu in 1999, and now welcomes just 12 guests in the six refurbished brick-and-thatch en-suite rondavels, each with open views across the river.
“One of my favorite places in the world is the main sitting area with a great view all round. You can see the river where elephants regularly cross from late morning to tea time as if by a clock; and the terraces which are always full of resident puku and impala wandering through.”
Sit and watch the wild world go by from the shade of your private veranda or join new friends at the lounge and share stories over a sun-downer as you watch the wildlife coming down to the river.
Honeymooners and romantic travelers enjoyed the breathtaking wildlife encounters, especially the viewing of leopards, wild dogs, and elephants, at the various camps in Zambia. They appreciated the excellent service provided by the friendly and attentive staff, including knowledgeable guides and scouts. They also loved the stunning views over the Luangwa river and the unique experience of dining under the stars at Nsefu Camp. The camps' locations, near waterholes and river views, added to their unforgettable safari experience. Even though some found the camps a bit dated, the overall ambiance, the comfort of the accommodations, and the delicious food offerings more than made up for it, making their stay memorable.
Was a really lovely camp with excellent staff and game. The game in the camp was spectacular. The camp is a little dated and you only have WiFi in the lounge. The rooms themselves are a little dated with not really enough room, light or plug sockets no big deal....
