Friendly helpful people, excellent food, convenient ferry to Hamilton, and easy transfers to Belmont golf course and other restaurants.
Comfortable room with good beds, but could not alter the temperature of the shower.
Not sure why the $20 daily Resort fee could not be included in the room charge.

What is with this place! I read time and again about guest experiences where they report about some front desk staff that range from beyond nice to downright indifferent, and/or surely. During my stay, my personal experience mirrored all of the forgoing, and more. I had hoped the negative reviews were those of just a few disgruntled guests. Obviously not since the complaints continue to be documented. And if I read once more a reply from management apologizing and promising to do better, I will have a meltdown. The facility itself is a gem. The boat operator is a star. The cleaning staff are like Molly Maid on steroids. If I were one of the time-share owners at Newstead, I would be royally annoyed.
So, clearly management is aware of the problems in connection with the front desk , and yet they choose to do nothing. Well, here is the deal. We are returning soon, and if things have not changed, goodbye Newstead. I will not pay the prices they charge only to be once again treated like a nursing home resident.

Newstead Belmont Hills Resort & Spa - Beautiful, Expensive - Not as Friendly

The Newstead Belmont Resort & Spa property is beautiful and very picturesque. My husband & I shared a one-bedroom suite equipped with a full kitchen, microwave, stove top, dish washer, dining table and chairs, 2 baths and spa like main bathroom. It had a built-in refrigerator, and a stand-alone full-size refrigerator. Luckily the second refrigerator was in working condition. We had panoramic views of the water in both the living room & bedroom that was adjacent to Hamilton. The hotel also offered a free ferry into Hamilton that ran in the mornings, and again after 5pm.
The spa offered massages, and I took advantage of the 50-minute Swedish massage. It was very enjoyable but very pricey. Their restaurant called the Aurora offered good food, but they restrict paying guests from utilizing the restaurant when special events were setup. We were not allowed to utilize the restaurant on two occasions, during our stay. That needs to change if they want to remain competitive. Paying guest should always have access to the on-site restaurant. The hotel also does not have a gift shop. It did have a snack closet, so you could get water, juice, and a few snacks. There is a fitness center, but with all the stairs in this resort, you probably won't need to use any of the fitness equipment.
The front desk clerks were not very accommodating or eager to share details that would enhance your vacation. A few of the front desk clerks were nice, but a couple were not very friendly nor eager to please. One in particular advised us to take a bus to the Royal Navy Dockyard, when there was a ferry that operated daily for only $5 dollars, after taking their free ferry into Hamilton. The ferry to the Dockyard took only 20 minutes and trips were available all day every day.
The hotel didn't offer tours of the island, but they recommend their special taxis for tours. Unfortunately, the hotel's choice was at a higher rate. We decided to engage a regular taxi to give us our tour of the island for $50 dollars an hour, while the hotel engaged taxis that charge $65 dollars an hour, both with a three-hour minimum. Our taxi gave us a great tour and we shared a meal with great conversation.
Our main bathroom had a little mildew in the ceiling, and one morning I awoke to find a roach on the countertop. We killed and flushed it, and then advised the front desk to engage an exterminator. Someone was sent to spray the room immediately, so it was handled properly. The shower handle also came off in my husband's hands, while trying to start the shower. Luckily it went back into place without incident. The shower tub was so slick we both almost fell in the tub. We had to request a shower mat. We had to use a towel to get in and out of the tub, until they furnished a bathmat.
The pool & jacuzzi were beautiful, but the jacuzzi jets were broken. We had to ask someone to turn on the jets every time we used the jacuzzi. There were also missing tiles in the jacuzzi, which caused me to bruise my arm. The bar staff was not interested in being accommodating or friendly. When we asked if someone could assist with turning on the jacuzzi jets she was very dismissive. We decided to just relax in the water since it was heated.
The resort was built in 2008, and now is in need of some repairs. If they plan to continue to charge such expensive prices, they should start to take care of the repairs.
We thought the island overall was beautiful, and the locals were very friendly. Our suggestion is to make friends with your taxi driver and try to arrange tours and ask for restaurant suggestions to enhance your dining. The food will be expensive, and the souvenirs will be costly, but the views of Bermuda won't disappoint.

We had a really nice stay here.
We had an issue with our extremely noisy room neighbours, not the hotel's fault, which the hotel sorted out for us straight away. Really grateful.
I don't remember the name of the guy on reception, but he was particularly helpful.
I cannot remember the name of the guy who runs the complementary ferry for the hotel but what a nice, friendly, really helpful guy he is! Give him a pay rise!! He gave us some really helpful tips that made our holiday even better. Great tip for whale watching, which was amazing!
The ladies at reception were really nice and helpful.
The guys that do the shuttle lifts were really nice too.
Our room was amazing, literally an apartment! Great free-flowing space for a week. We generally don't spend a great deal of time at our hotels when we are away but this space gave us a great place to relax and chill after a long day exploring.
Highly recommend.

This is probably the best resort we've ever stayed at! The staff was very accommodating, especially Norman. Our room was at the water's edge and huge, we even had a kitchen and a view of the bay from every room. I highly recommend it!
Nice place but lots of steps.

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Newstead during our week in Bermuda. We had a beautiful suite, more like a small apartment really. It included a living room with a dining table in addition to chairs and a large TV. There was a large bathroom that included a jacuzzi as well as a large shower. The bedroom was also very large with a king size bed. We had a balcony with a table and lounge chairs and a perfect view if the harbor and Hamilton. There was a small, very serviceable kitchen, including a refrigerator and two burner stove. We had breakfast every day (eggs, bacon or sausage, potatoes and fruit or pastries), lunch and a couple of dinners from the Aurora restaurant in the hotel, all excellent. Everything was immaculately clean and the staff were very courteous and helpful. There was a courtesy car to the golf course and Blu restaurant, off-site and to the Coco Reef Hotel and beach which provided a one day courtesy card to use their beach, pool and restaurant. The beach is beautiful for walking and the water comfortably warm, though not tropically warm. Speaking of pools, the Newstead pool was lovely and had an excellent pool bar for drinks and lunch. The only thing that we found fell short was the water taxi to Hamilton. The taxi itself was fine, but it was running on a very limited schedule during our visit. The day we left the schedule was somewhat expanded, but really needs to return to once an hour, as I understand it used to be. Unfortunately the public ferry no longer stops at the landing virtually adjacent to the hotel. This was a first rate vacation I can recommend to anyone.

Very nice facility with great view of the water from large balcony. Large and well-appointed room but with several minor but irritating glitches in the room, like dead bulbs, broken light switch on lamp, sink drain inoperable, etc. that should not happen at this price point. Gorgeous infinity pool. On site restaurant serves great breakfast but very formal for other meals.
You are not in Hamilton, but there is a free shuttle ferry that gets you to Hamilton in AM hourly and in late afternoon, hourly, but not in the middle of the day. One real downside is that the ferry does NOT operate on Sat afternoon or at any time on Sunday. This leaves you really isolated, except for expensive taxis. This was a major disappointment.
There is very little around. They do offer a free shuttle van ride to and from the nearby Belmont Hills golf course, where there are two restaurants. One, called Divots, is quite informal, with a good varied menu and the food was very good at a reasonable price. The other one, called BLU is beyond pretentious and overpriced (e.g. your wine bottle cannot remain at or near your table; It spoils the ambiance of the dining room). I saw a woman dare to put her light spring coat over the back of her chair and they descended on her as though she had shot the king, pulling the coat away against her wishes - nuts!!) Not very friendly at all. Food was good but not exceptional enough to outweigh the unpleasant vibe of the place. Definitely pass on BLU.

We had a really nice short stay here at the end of a holiday visiting friends on the island. We weren't able to check in early but did have full use of the beautiful pool while we waiting for our room. The room was large and very well presented and had a beautiful view. The facilities in the hotel were very good and there were sufficient beds around the pool area. The dinner at the restaurant was absolutely fantastic and set against a beautiful sunset. My only criticism is that food at the pool bar is served in plastic take away boxes and in a carrier bag when at the tables in the pool bar, rather than on plates. Nonetheless a highly recommended place to stay.
