Reviews of Mount Royal Hotel

Not quite excellent

Yes, a great situation and we chose a more expensive guaranteed mountain view. So, no noise as these rooms are all at the back of the hotel. Room service was mostly fine except for one day when our coffee cups were not replaced though the tray was replenished. Front of...

Great location

We stayed at the Mount Royal for 4 nights in a standard king bedded room. Check in was quick and easy. Parking is available at the hotel for CAD5 per night. It’s an open car park so car is out in the weather. The location of the hotel is fantastic...

November getaway

Great Location right in downtown Banff on the main strip close to all the shops and restaurants. On-site restaurant (Brazen) was very good. Friendly staff providing great service and there are out door hot tubs! We will book here again when our travels bring us back to the mountains.

Great Location!

Hotel was in a great location, staff were great, and the room had everything we needed! The rooftop hot tubs were great and the fifth floor lounge was nice to relax in after a long day. Room was clean, but could have used a wipe down of the walls or...

Great location!

This is an excellent location on the avenue, walkable to everything and the onsite hot tub and restaurant are a plus. We were able to easily pick up the Roam transit stops to get to Lake Louise and the Gondola. We enjoyed the food at Brazen and had a great...

Right in the centre of Banff

A lovely hotel in the very centre of Banff. Bedroom and bed very cosy. Easy walk to the train station to pick up a sightseeing trip and a very quick taxi ride with our luggage when we left. The restaurant was lovely with great food at a good price and...

Very nice hotel.

Very nice hotel, comfortable and clean. Great place to stay for exploring Banff. We didn’t try the restaurant but the menu looked good and it appeared to be very popular. All the staff were very welcoming and friendly. Centrally located with parking.

One to avoid in my view.

Grim. The first room we were given was extremely small, nowhere to unpack. It was extremely hot as the AC was on at 24 and could not be switched off and blew directly over the bed, the windows did not open. I went to reception to ask for a room...

Shoebox, nice shoebox but still a Shoebox.

So this hotel was selected for us by Rocky Mountaineer to substitute for the days we were supposed to be in Jasper before their devastating fires. So, maybe the late booking left them (Rocky Mountaineer) with few choices in Banff but we ended up with a less than adequate hotel...

Great hotel in central Banff

Refurbished and remodelled heritage hotel very centrally located in downtown Banff. We had a suite which had the added benefit of sofa, large fridge, and microwave. The on-site restaurant Brazen is very good with an imaginative menu. The rooftop hot tubs have great views and the 5th floor lounge is...

Rather Disappointing

I found the hotel to be rather disappointing based on my expectations from other reviews and the hotel website. I’d reserved a centennial view room and was assigned room 308 which overlooked the hotel’s physical plant and parking lot. Though the mountains were in the background it was hard to...

Great hotel right in the heart of Banff Avenue.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The Hotel is placed right amongst Banff Avenue and we had a fantastic view from our room of the avenue and the surrounding mountains. Due to its location, it was extremely convenient to be able to step out of the doors and immediately into everything on...

Great location

We stayed at Mount Royal this past weekend and it was an amazing location. The front desk staff were so nice and welcoming. The room was clean but the hotel is older and there are some stains on the carpet in the rooms and things but I always figure as...

Great staff and location ❤️

We came here to celebrate our engagement at the end of July. Everything from the views, the easy check-in, and the super clean room were spectacular. Natalie and Katie at the front desk were especially helpful during our check-in and we are extremely grateful for their assistance and accommodation when...

Good location

Nice Location. On site restaurant and bar are good. Rooms are basic. Could use more hooks in bathroom. We put out the ‘Freshen up Room’ sign as we left each morning to look around. It was never ‘Freshened up’ by the time we came back after lunch. A 4 am...
