We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 night stay at the Moorea Island Beach Hotel in December of 2024. First, the location is fantastic. There is a small beach directly in front of the hotel for swimming and snorkeling. The common areas overlooking the water were lovely and we enjoyed watching the sunset each night. The hotel also has a number of kayaks available for guests which we used to paddle over to a nearby motu (small island). The rooms themselves were comfortable and the AC worked well. While we didn't purchase the breakfast, we appreciated having access to some of the kitchen facilities. Each room is allotted refrigerator space and guests have access to tea and coffee all day. We loved Moorea and would definitely stay at this property again.

This hotel is hard to rate because the area is beautiful. The main building building is incredible and the people are so nice. But the room felt very dated and worn out. I would love to give this hotel higher rating. The hotel is great for the price and they have a nice little area where you can put stuff in refrigerator and the cats. You can’t go wrong with cats. I just hope they spend some time to update their rooms.

Good location. Peaceful and not very many people and a great sunset view and the "communal space" concept was new to us and seemed interesting, which is why we chose to stay here. We ended up liking that. I think coming out of Covid people were interested in connecting, for a minute or a couple of hours.
We had a rental car - parking on site was nice.
We stayed in the direct beach front unit which I highly recommend. The place was very clean and well maintained, as pictured and the manager and staff were very friendly. The manager was helpful about anything on Moorea. The open air communal dining and lounging room was great. It gave us an opportunity to meet other people from different parts of the world, but we could still be "alone" too. And, when it was rainy, it gave us a bigger space to hang out.
We really liked using the kayaks to visit the two motus and we went quite a ways with them.
Communal kitchen with assigned fridge/storage for groceries was great. We don't like spending all our time sitting in restaurants so it was nice to cook on site and eat looking at the sunset! Also nice for fixing lunch for our cooler for outings. I cooked a few meals, including one with another couple who were also staying there. Several restaurants in walking / biking distance too.
Breakfast was good, but we aren't really breakfast people, so only did it once. It was nice to get coffee, tea, or espresso in the morning - included in room price. There are a couple of stores in walking / biking distance with groceries and pastries.
The on site bicycles are ok - I had a slow leak flat about a mile out and had to walk it back. I think all the bikes on the island are like that though - check them out before you go very far. The other times I used a bike were fine.
Negatives -
Fire coral! just after we arrived, my husband went into the water and had a bad encounter with "fire coral" about 10' out, so watch out for that. He had to go to the ER. Not the best swimming beach for that reason. There is a pharmacy very close to the hotel, so that came in handy. We had a fair amount of rain the week we were there, which was ok, as husband was recuperating for a few days. We still had a great view.
Wifi really only works in the public area, and sometimes only in a small part of that. For us not a big deal but if you really need constant wifi it might be.

Amazing snorkeling in front of the bungalows and beautiful beach. There are kayaks and bicycles that you can use for free. You can kayak to one of the best snorkeling places on the island from the hotel. Many restaurants, souvenir stores, and small grocery stores within walking distance.
The shared kitchen is very nice and well equipped (professional range, oven, microwave, nespresso coffee maker, regular coffee maker, and ice maker). They even provide additional fridge space for each bungalow in the kitchen. We made multiple meals there.
Don't hesitate to book this place, you will love it here!

We had a wonderful stay at The Mo’orea Island Beach Hotel. We were in petit maison #3 and the room was perfect and the view spectacular.
My idea of a perfect day is to wake up, open the door and walk about 30 steps to the massive coral lagoon out your front door. THATS what you have in this lovely hotel.
In the morning the water is beautifully still and the snorkeling is primo as the sun starts to rise and shine in this amazing water garden. The anemone are just spectacular and the fish that inhabit it are also stars of the show. We saw rays, black tipped reef sharks and soooo much more - it truly exceeded our expectations.
We did have air conditioning and a small refridge in the room. Shampoo and soap were also provided and they smelled so beautiful that we headed to the grocery store to buy a bar to take home.
Lots of restaurants within walking distance and it’s very safe to be out and about during the day and evening.
We had the breakfast (which was wonderful) but I think it was a bit too pricey and I’d recommend grabbing a bite in town if you are staying more than 1 night. A central kitchen is at your disposal and the wifi is only in the main lodge area - which is only about 20 steps from any maisonette.
This is a great place to un-plug and just enjoy the beautiful location. The staff are exceptional and the place is just so lovely.

We stayed here for 3 nights and it was wonderful! The setting is beautiful and all areas of the hotel are nice and clean.
We were welcomed on arrival by Claude, he was very welcoming and gave us some useful information for our stay. The location of the hotel I think is the best in Moorea, perfect for sunsets and very near to some great coral gardens. There are kayaks for guests to use which are really good. We kayaked over to the coral gardens in the morning and ended up spending all day there. There is a great lunch spot called Kay West the family are lovely and the food and cocktails are out of this world. The picnic tables sit in the water and the friendliest stingray come and say hello.
The beach of the hotel is stunning, white sands and palm trees with sun loungers and sunset.
Lots of great local restaurants in walking distance and some shops too.
Great value for money, a wonderful stay. When we come back to Moorea again we will be booking here.

We had a great time here! Each room has AC, although it’s not turned on when you arrive. Really quick to cool though.
Great location, lots of things to explore in the area. We rented a scooter from the hotel and drove around the island, which was the highlight of our trip. Visited multiple fruit stands and had the best meal of our trip at Snack Mahana. Don’t be afraid to check out the local grocery stores; they’re all decent, though they may appear daunting.
We used the communal refrigerator but had our waters and beer stolen. Disappointing, but Claude was kind enough to replace our water. No big deal, but don’t leave anything critical in there.
Snorkeling in front of the hotel was fantastic! Water is shallow almost all the way out. We didn’t have time to kayak over to the motu, but I guess that’s means we’ll have to visit again. Heard there’s even better 🤿 over there.
WiFi was a little slow and doesn’t reach the rooms. We had Tahiti WiFi so predominantly used that.
I would recommend this place to friends and family. Looking forward to coming back!

The location of this property is spectacular. It’s on a very quiet part of the island you feel like you have the whole stretch of beach & lagoon to yourself. If available I definitely recommend going for the beachfront room, there are only three. This property is best for independent travelers. I would definitely recommend having a rental car. Some of the best restaurants on the island are very close, within walking or biking distance or a very short drive. If you are on a budget or if you like to cook, you can easily self cater the entire trip by using their kitchen. There was a small refrigerator in the room and a big storage space allocated for each room in the main kitchen. You can easily all of your supplies within those spaces. It was slightly uncomfortable using the kitchen much in the morning so I tried to stay out of the way since we did not take the hotel breakfast. This place is good for independent travelers because it’s very quiet and no one will bother you, but on the flipside there’s no restaurant on site and the management splits time between two properties so there really are not many staff around. We actually preferred that because it was so quiet and peaceful but if you like to have a lot of service then this is not a good place. We also think this hotel may be the best place on the island for sunsets. We watch the sunset every single night without fail from the beautiful beachfront terraces. The Wi-Fi is good only from the terrace it does not extend into the rooms. We absolutely loved using the bikes and wrote them every day to get lunch or to the awesome artisanal ice cream shop down the road, not to be missed it’s a five minute bike ride! We also are used the kayaks every day and sometimes more than once a day, you can go around the two islands to the right and there are lots of sea turtles and sharks. The water is so calm it’s like kayaking in lake water. Many other resorts charge for using kayaks so that was really nice. All of the equipment is in excellent condition. There is also a dive shop one minute down the beach called fun dive and we had several great days of driving with them. There was also a restaurant in the other direction one minute down the beach so you literally can get to a restaurant and a dive shop each within a minute of either direction. It’s like having resort amenities without having to stay in a resort. The main areas improvement I would suggest is that the outdoor lighting was so bright at night that I could read a newspaper inside my phone go out and it was really hard to sleep. I would have appreciated it a little less light pollution given the remoteness.

A true gem of a property. I’m almost hesitant to write a review because I don’t want the secret to get out. If you want a small quiet vacation with great accommodation, and stunning scenery at a price way better than the larger chain hotels this is your place. The bed was a bit firm which would be my only complaint but that’s something that varies from traveler to traveler. I wouldn’t let it deter me from staying again. Having full use of the kitchen was awesome and saved us even more no having to go out for lunches. It was clean and always well stocked. I used the kayaks everyday and the bikes more than once. The location is prime for snorkeling and other tours which take off on this side of the island. I hope it stays the same quiet quaint but amazing lodge when we revisit….Which we most definitely will!
