Marriott’s Waiohai Beach Club

We have loved Marriott’s Waiohai Beach Club since we purchased our two bedroom in 2003! Right on the beach, with lovely pools, landscaping, Honu Beach Bar/restaurant, and awesome staff, within walking distance to many other restaurants and next to Poipu Beach & park. We have loved Marriott’s Waiohai Beach Club since we purchased our two bedroom in 2003! Right on the beach, with lovely pools, landscaping, Honu Beach Bar/restaurant, and awesome staff, within walking distance to many other restaurants and next to Poipu Beach & park. What more could you ask? Lots more actually! Honu (green sea turtles) on our beach seeking a rest after many hours in the water, as well as endangered Monk Seals sharing the sand for a much deserved break, and many complementary activities from water aerobics to koi feeding offered for adults and children. The spirit of Aloha is alive and well at Waiohai!

This is our 9th time at the Waiohai, it is our favorite Marriott timeshare. The villas are comfortable and typical of Marriott's style - your view usually depends on if you're a Marriott owner but we found the staff very accommodating - they offered us a good view in a building with a longer walk which was well worth it as our view was lovely! The landscaping is beautiful and well maintained. The Honu bar offers a small menu but good food (I enjoyed my specialty drink but my husband and friend thought theirs were very light on the alcohol and not very good) - the servers are friendly and it's fun to eat there while you look at the ocean and maybe spot whales passing by. There are ample bbq grills if you want to grill, which a lot of people do. There are 3 pools -- a relaxation pool (not for kids) which is good for swimming laps (as you dodge the adults who stand there and talk for hours), the large pool which is busy but enough room to swim, and a very shallow pool by the beach (which is pretty much only usable to put your feet in). That said, the grounds provide ample room for your lounge chair, shade, sun, fantastic ocean view. The beach is a little small but you can walk onto the county beach where you will find sea turtles and monk seals and lots of people enjoying the good snorkeling. In the other direction you can walk towards the Sheraton and another long beach. We really enjoyed Courtney who taught the water aerobics class and also a specialty yoga/Tai Chi/Hula class -- Courtney teaches the Hawaiian culture and we really appreciated the opportunity to learn from her. We feel the Waiohai offers the best Marriott experience of the true Kauai and we look forward to returning next year!

Lovely MVC resort on Kauai. Well appointed and beautifully maintained. Great full kitchen and 2 bedrooms with their own bathrooms. The oceanfront location near Poipu State Park beach is wonderful. The grounds are also well maintained. Service was good throughout our stay with a few maintenance items being resolved within minutes. Underground parking was provided under each building. There is walkability to the beach in front of the resort, as well as to the nearby shopping center and restaurants ( 4 minutes walk). There is also a restaurant/ bar open in the early evenings that also appears to serve breakfast on weekend mornings.

Room was clean and big. The checkin and checkout staff were very matter of fact and not cordial. They told me that they have different rules and policies from other Marriott’s because they are a time share property. The bar staff also looked very busy and not friendly. I was...

Room was clean and big. The checkin and checkout staff were very matter of fact and not cordial. They told me that they have different rules and policies from other Marriott’s because they are a time share property. The bar staff also looked very busy and not friendly. I was ordering a drink from the bar to talk to the pool. The bartender told me I was standing in the wrong area, so I moved to a different area, and then she served someone else from where I had been standing.

We’ve been coming here as members for 16+ years and have been holding our breath for a decline. Not a chance! The Marriott Waiohai team is fabulous. The grounds look better than ever, rooms are updated, Hula Bar team is attentive and engaging, and we had a wonderful time. See...

We love staying here. The staff is so attentive. We love that we can step out of our patio door and walk right to the beach. The views are gorgeous and accommodations so comfortable. We highly recommend the resort!

Great location with beach access, snorkeling, pools. Took several walks, saw turtles and seals on the nearby beaches and watched the sunset every night! We stayed in a two-bedroom room and had plenty of room for two couples to cook, relax, enjoy the week!

We returned to Waiohai after a four year absence thanks to COVID. What a pleasure to be back. This remains our favorite respite in the Hawaiian Islands. We returned to Waiohai after a four year absence thanks to COVID. What a pleasure to be back. This remains our favorite respite in the Hawaiian Islands. Beautifully landscaped and manicured, nestled in the waters off Poipu Beach, Waiohai is a small, quaint and comfortable property perfect for quiet and relaxation. Several renovations have been undertaken since our last visit (LVP floors, changes in decor and more). Don’t miss this South Pacific gem.
