We stayed for three nights at the MO and it is, bar none, one of the most beautiful settings for any hotel Ive seen. Right on the shores of Lake Como Without any of the touristy nonsense of places like the Bellagio, it was the perfect quiet place to explore the area from. The service was out of this world. Isabel bent over backwards to ensure everything went perfectly with our stay and was a delight to get to interact with. We booked Vista Lago Duplex Terrace Suite which has a stunning balcony and spacious two floor set up. Of the few dings I’d give for this resort, the room, however, is one of them. Having been to over a half dozen MO, the decor and finishings were quite drab and dated compared to other properties and the overall beauty of the villa itself- especially when a room is more then $4k/night. The spa is amazing and the dining, while good, is not as tasty and nearby Italian restaurants in Como and Milan. Definitely recommend taking a boat ride across the lake while you’re here too.

Wonderful experience at a beautiful hotel. We stayed here at the end of August 2024 for our 31st year anniversary and our friend's 30th anniversary. The only complaint is that we didn't book more days to stay here on our (3) week tour of France and Italy. We stayed at (4) different high end hotels on this trip and this was by far the best experience of them all. Our room was beautiful with a wonderful view of Lake Como. We enjoyed every minute of the pool which is actually right on the lake. The restaurants on property had good food and drinks and the breakfast was amazing (still dreaming of the French Toast). We would like to thank the management and the staff for making our stay so enjoyable!

My husband and I just returned from our vacation at Mandarin Como and I simply can not praise the staff and level of service received during our stay, it was perfection. We stayed at this property before the Mandarin acquired it and we were curious to see what changed. As it turns out, all the changes were for the better, and they have only improved upon the previous owners. There are of course other properties to consider on Como, but I can say with complete confidence that there is no better location than the Mandarin. Also it wasn't full of Americans the way some of the other hotels are, it was a sophisticated mix of clientele, and generally speaking, people were polite and kind, but you had plenty of privacy. Oh and the food was to die for, there are so many options and it was all fabulous. Happy booking, you wont regret it!

This property is truly unique. It manages to feel intimate while still incredibly expansive. As far as rooms, this was the most beautiful lake view grand suite I have experienced in years. Extremely expansive with two bathrooms, separate living room and dining room and two balconies with seating overlooking the lake. The food at the hotel from breakfast to their Michelin rated restaurant for dinner was the highlight food wise of our three week trip in Italy. As far as for the check in team, concierge and valet teams they were absolutely incredible. Going above and beyond in every interaction. This property has been on my bucket list for years and I honestly exceeded my expectations. I can’t wait to come back!

I want to thank the MO Lago di Como team for not just the flawless hospitality, but also the genuine kindness, that we have experienced during our stay. One of my favourite movies is the Italian classic Cinema Paradiso. The MO Lago di Como has become my own personal Cinema Paradiso, an oasis of calm and escape from the real world! The only downside is the eventual re-entry into everyday life! Even before our arrival, Alice has been an angel and an amazing ambassador of the MO and the property. She helped with our itinerary and was extremely patient with our requests. It was wonderful to meet her in person - she is kinder and warmer in the flesh than she was on email - and she continued to go above and beyond after we checked in, warning us about our disrupted dinner reservation due to an emergency at the restaurant - on a weekend evening! If there is an award for dedication to hospitality then I can't think of a more deserving winner! At check-in, we were shown the highest level of care and consideration by Maria and the front of house. It is not uncommon for a property of this calibre to offer welcome drinks and make guests feel comfortable at check-in, but the team took it to a whole new level with the personal touch - from the seamless transfer of our luggage to the escort to our lunch venue (at the fabulous L'Aria terrace) - we were literally and figuratively transported to another (very desirable) world. Maria is another one of the angels in the team. No query is too hard for her to resolve, and no request too extravagant to accommodate. I can only hope that every front of house team takes a leaf out this out of this hospitality book! I also want to compliment the L'Aria team for always making me feel like I am dining in my own (extremely upgraded!) home kitchen, whether enjoying the scrumptious breakfasts or delighting in the fine dinner. The team was extremely kind to pack breakfast boxes for me to bring back to my wife who preferred to linger in the amazing villa (and who can blame her?). We had the pleasure of being introduced to Matteo, the generous restaurant manager, who made on-point recommendations and provided discreet and attentive service throughout our dinner, despite a very busy full house. It is no surprise that the rest of his team is equally polished and accomplished. It is an amazing privilege to have the opportunity to experience the suites at the property. What a legendary residence! One can only dream about waking up to the unblocked lake view, and then having every creature comfort imaginable at one's fingertips. It should be a crime to provide such an insane level of luxury to your guests - because it will be a hard landing when we eventually check out! Grazie mille for providing us with this experience. We can't wait for our next visit and this time with our two boys who will be resentful they were not with us the first time around!

Recently, I had the pleasure of spending a few unforgettable days at the Mandarin Oriental, Lago di Como, and I would like to share my impressions of this exceptional experience. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the beauty of the place. The hotel is located on the shores of Lake Como, surrounded by magnificent gardens and stunning views. The architecture is modern, yet retains the charm of classic Italian aesthetics, creating a sense of luxury and tranquility. Our room was spacious, elegantly furnished, and extremely comfortable. Every detail was carefully considered - from the soft bathrobes and high-quality bed linens to the lovely balcony overlooking the lake. We were particularly impressed by the technological amenities and modern design, which contributed to our comfortable stay. The hotel staff were extremely kind and professional. Every question and need we had was met promptly and with a smile. From the reception to the restaurant and the spa, we felt the warm hospitality and attention to detail. The culinary experiences at the Mandarin Oriental, Lago di Como are world-class. Breakfast on the terrace with a view of the lake was one of our most delightful experiences, and the dinners at the restaurant offered exquisite cuisine and a rich wine list that satisfied even the most discerning taste. The hotel's spa center is a true oasis of relaxation and rejuvenation.

A superbly managed and beautifully sited property in one of the loveliest locations in the world. The staff is exceptionally friendly (at times almost too much so, but staying just shy of the line of being overbearing). We were given an upgrade to a palatially sized suite. The only criticism I have is that the furniture is our suite seemed to have been designed for hobbits--it was all weirdly small scale and totally uncomfortable. It was frustrating not to have a comfortable place to sit in an otherwise lovely setting. This place is quite expensive, but I was sorry to check out.

A wonderful special weekend. I highly recommend if you are looking to stay in the best hotel in Lake Como. The rooms are stunning, overlooking the lake, spacious, attention to detail is flawless and the bed guarantees you a great nights sleep. The customer service is best in class, remembering you everytime you enter the bar or one of its fabulous restaurants. We were with a friend who loves martini's and he said it was the one he had ever had globally. Wine list is comprehensive and the food delicious. A visit must include the spa and swimming pool area, both the outdoor floating one but also the indoor one, which looks like it was built into the mountain with fabulous stone ceilings. There is a complimentary shuttle service into Como, needs to be reserved on the day, our driver was so knowledgable. This was our second stay, we are already planning to go back in October.!! Faultless hotel. Amazing rooms - very high spec and spacious. Beautiful grounds and gardens. Lovely breakfast area 10/10 service from all staff members. Highly recommend in all aspects. The other side of the lake has more going on which is only negative but the views of the lake are stunning

Brilliant service - the amazing lake side restaurant by the floating terrace is unbelievable for lunch and the floating pool on the lake is stunning. We spent 3 nights at the Mandarin Oriental Lago Di Como and wished we stayed longer because it was such a fabulous experience. We were graciously upgraded to a duplex suite in the historic Villa Roccabruna building. Of note, it has a more traditional design style than rooms in the more modern buildings. We found it to be charming, but guests should pay attention when booking because some people will not like the more traditional furnishings and bathroom design. The design of the CO.MO bistro was recently updated and was very beautiful and stylish, with amazing views of the lake from most seats in the restaurant. We had the most incredible eggplant parmesan and raw shrimp risotto at the restaurant and ordered them twice. Our dinner at L'Aria was also excellent and was a nice break from all of the traditional Italian cuisine that we had been eating. The infinity pool and pool service were incredible. Staff are always nearby and attentive, and were always quick to take drink/food orders and to bring towels when getting out of the pool. The private boat tour is pricey but is definitely worth the cost. For our 5 hour boat tour, we managed to make stops in Bellagio, Menaggio and Varenna. The complimentary hotel shuttle to the city of Como was also great and provided us with a convenient way to spend a couple of hours in between lounging by the pool. Our stay at the hotel was a highlight of our trip to Italy and we look forward to staying there, again, soon.

This is the first time I’ve ever felt compelled to leave a negative review, but unfortunately, I have to share my experience. My fiancé and I had our hearts set on hosting our wedding at Lake Como, with the Mandarin being our top choice. We visited the hotel last year and loved the architecture, so it felt like the perfect place for our special day. We reached out to the events manager, Alessandra, but unfortunately, we were met with weeks of uncertainty and vague responses. The only answer we received from her was "I'll get back to you." After waiting for weeks with no progress, my fiancé decided to call the hotel to talk Alessandra directly, hoping to have a more productive conversation. The hotel assured him she would call us back—but that call never came. In an attempt to move things forward, we asked our wedding planner to intervene, after almost a month later Alessandra finally got back to us, only to inform us that we would need to reserve the entire hotel for 5 days, rather than the 2 days she initially mentioned, which we had agreed upon. This sudden change was very frustrating. Weddings are incredibly special, and the level of service we received from Alessandra was far below the standard we expected from a renowned hotel like the Mandarin. This lack of communication and transparency not only left us upset, but it also caused us to miss out on other venue opportunities. Ultimately, we were left feeling disappointed and disheartened, and we’ve decided to move on from the Mandarin as our venue. If you're considering hosting your wedding here, I would highly encourage you to think carefully.

A Place of Stillness, Style, and Soul – Mandarin Oriental Lago di Como We had the pleasure of staying at the Mandarin Oriental, Lago di Como in October 2024, and what we experienced was far more than just a luxury getaway — it was a rare blend of tranquility, beauty, and meticulous hospitality, nestled in one of the most captivating locations in Europe. ✦ Location & First Impressions Tucked away on the serene shores of Lake Como in Blevio, this property feels like a well-kept secret — discreetly luxurious, far from the crowds of Bellagio or Como town, yet close enough to explore the entire lake region with ease. Arriving at the estate, you immediately feel the shift: from movement to stillness, from travel to experience. The grounds are immaculately maintained — ancient cypress trees, manicured gardens, and stone paths leading to private terraces with sweeping lake views. The integration of nature and architecture is effortless, respectful, and artful. ✦ The Suite & Design We stayed in one of the Duplex Terrace Suites, and the moment we entered, we knew we were somewhere special. The interiors were an elegant fusion of Italian classicism and Mandarin Oriental’s signature Asian minimalism: calm, neutral tones, bespoke furniture, and layered textures. While the suite was spread over two levels with generous space, the highlight was clearly the terrace — a private front-row seat to Lake Como's poetry. Admittedly, while the suite was stunning, we felt that certain elements (furnishings, finishes) were slightly more subdued compared to newer MO properties. However, the charm of the villa itself and the authenticity of the setting more than made up for it. ✦ Service – Impeccable, Personal, Discreet Service was flawless throughout. Mandarin Oriental is known for setting the gold standard in guest care, and this property was no exception. From the concierge who mapped out hidden villages for us to discover, to the pool staff who remembered our preferences after the first day — every interaction was thoughtful and warm. A special mention goes to Isabel, who went above and beyond to make our stay effortless. Her calm, solution-oriented presence and genuine warmth reflected the true spirit of hospitality. ✦ Dining & Experiences Breakfast on the lakefront terrace was a daily ritual we deeply cherished — a curated buffet and à la carte menu, served with panoramic water views and complete calm. The in-house restaurants were impressive, though we must admit that some of our most memorable meals were in small, local trattorias recommended by the concierge. The spa was another sanctuary — intimate, luxurious, and with a heated indoor pool that mirrored the mood of the lake. One can easily spend hours here without ever needing to leave the property. ✦ Final Thoughts Mandarin Oriental Lago di Como is not about spectacle, but rather about serenity, refinement, and timeless elegance. It doesn’t try to overwhelm you — it invites you to exhale, to reconnect with beauty, and to feel the quiet luxury of time well spent. This is the kind of place you think about long after you've left. Not just because of the view, or the bed, or the food — but because of how it made you feel: calm, seen, and rebalanced. Last summer, I was robbed during my stay, 3 Van Cleef necklaces and several rings went missing, and the hotel’s excuse was that too many staff had entered the room to identify who was responsible. Against my better judgment, I returned this summer because my boyfriend loves the property. We made it explicitly clear at check-in that only one designated cleaner should be allowed in our room a very simple, reasonable request considering what happened last time. That promise was broken within 24 hours. On day two, someone knocks claiming he’s there “to collect dishes” a service I’ve never encountered at any hotel. We hand him a coffee cup and think nothing of it. But minutes later, while I’m doing my hair and my boyfriend is in the shower, a man walks into the bathroom unannounced, again asking for dishes. This exact thing happened to me last year at this hotel a man entered while I was in the shower. You can hear the shower running, but still they come in and pretend they’re looking for dishes. What dishes are in the toilet ? They’re trying to see their guests naked? AND steal from them ?! We were horrified. We immediately reported it to the manager, who told us this wasn’t even a service the hotel provides. So why were two unauthorized men in our room? We already said we didn’t want multiple people in our room And in just that day while we were in the room that request was violated twice. So how many times did this happen while we were not in the room? How many people were in our room? At best, this hotel is deeply disorganized and careless. At worst, it’s unsafe and corrupt. Either way, the Mandarin Oriental Lake Como has proven twice now that it is not to be trusted.

The Mandarin Oriental Lake Como is heaven on Earth. Hotel rooms are spacious, comfortable and quiet. Food is wonderful at anytime: breakfast - I had the best cheese omelette of my life - lunch and dinner with a never ending wine list which makes wine lovers happy. Personnel looks after the guests with extreme care and show the highest professionalism. The pool and the solarium are incredibly gorgeous. Prices are understandable considering the place. If one comes he/she will dream about coming back.
