Reviews of Ledson Hotel
Wonderful location on the Sonoma Square. Amazing experience. Best bed ever! Couldn’t be happier. We could walk to everything. Great wine and ambiance in the late afternoon. Thank you! We will be back on our next trip to Sonoma or to the wine country.
Nice little hotel on the square
beautiful little hotel with friendly service. The pairing of the hotel with wine tasting in the lounge is super special - Rob was great leading/educating us for the tasting. Being right in the square is lovely and convenient. Would do stay again and recommend the wine tasting experience too.
Great Option for visiting the wine country

Excellent value (especially compared to many other Sonoma/Napa Valley hotels and inns.

Lovely region, small property on the main square

The wine tasting downstairs was very enjoyable and we drove up to the Ledson Winery and it was rather impressive.

Because of Rob Schott the Ledson wine room was by far the pinnacle of our trip to Sonoma.
Rob encouraged us to come in earlier in the morning and showed us around where we were blown away at the aesthetic of the lobby and Rob’s genuine hospitality and warmth. It is clear that this wine bar is not a job for Rob but a lifestyle. Rob told us we had to come back and offered to reserve the table in front of the fireplace. The wines were the best we tasted on this trip and they were in the mid 90 point range. Everything about this place shouts EXCELLENCE, everything. To top off our experience three women stopped in after closing and Rob offered to give them a taste because they were visibly disappointed. All of us ended up having a great time as Rob efficiently did his last chores. It was efficient and kind and sublime. This guy has a magical way about him.
When it comes to design excellence I am not a guy in a diner just spouting off. I have designed award winning design and energy efficient homes.
The devil is in the details. The day before I drove by and remarked to my wife, “ look at the condition of that old hotel, what a renovation. This was only to find out that Steve Ledson built it in 1999 to look antique. Mission accomplished.
The interior is equally impressive.
The guest rooms are just perfect too, Rob had one empty room and was able to give us a tour. Ledson did not miss a trick, even the bathrooms have his and hers marble sinks.
If we ever come back to Sonoma we will stay no place else.
The only thing we missed was to personally meet Mr. Ledson to thank and congratulate him for excellence in every aspect of his master work.
Wine, architecture, interior design, employment and Rob’s cordial hospitality and interest in us personally.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Ledson Hotel. So many terrific things to point out:
Above all, the staff (Rob and Michelle) were so friendly and helpful and truly made us feel like we were visiting with old friends. Rob was so personable and accommodating with his knowledge of the area, the hotel, the wines and the history. He even got me to join the wine club (which I hadn't planned on doing)!
The hotel itself was lovely. The builder (Steve) did an incredible job of creating an old world feel with a modern design. As a real estate developer myself, I appreciated the attention to detail. The fireplace and jacuzzi tub in the room was a master stroke!
In addition the details, such as the inlaid wood and classic light fixtures, added an elegance that we did not expect.
We also loved the lobby. As it was cold and rainy for much of our stay, the lobby fireplace was the perfect spot for relaxing and having a glass of your excellent wine!
All in all we couldn't have asked for a better experience. We really felt like we were in the right place at the right time and we look forward to returning soon.

The Ledson Hotel was beautiful and had a great location. Our room was lovely with ornate details that made the stay feel unique and special. It is central in the town of Sonoma which was incredibly convenient to walk to dinner, walk around the central square, grab breakfast in the morning, etc. Check-in and parking was a breeze. We especially loved the balcony off our room to enjoy some morning coffee and a baked good before taking off!

This is a historic building in Sonoma , the best position of any hotel property , right on the square , and without doubt it has been renovated in style with plenty of luxury touches and no expense spared .
Our room , the Noble suite , had a balcony overlooking the square where we could sit and enjoy one of the owners great Zinfandel wines , and we were very pleased with our whole experience .
The check in is up to 7pm I believe , then all the staff go home and you let yourself in and out of the property .. so there is no hotel bar or restaurant .. but the quality of the room and proximity to bars and restaurants in this great town makes it irrelevant. The night before and the nights after , we had lovely rooms in other towns with concierge and bars onsite .. but this Ledson property we view as “ boutique “ and the high ceilings .. massive space , in room spa bath , balcony , soft towels , coffee machine etc make it the best on the trip so far .. top marks ..we will stay again for sure ..

The Ledson is the top rated hotel in Sonoma but, in truth, it’s not a fully fledged hotel. We were delighted with our accommodation and its fabulous situation on the Town square that allowed for great people watching from our balcony.
The problem is that there are no staff on site from 6pm each evening and the rooms are only serviced every third day. Our pre-arrival email spoke of “creating safe physical distancing for you and our staff and therefore limiting our time in your room”. When we asked for our room to be refreshed at 3.30pm on the day after our arrival, we were told that all the cleaning staff had gone home for the day. This isn’t value for money or acceptable when the the room rate is $431.25 per night inc. tax.

The Ledson Hotel is a unique and beautiful boutique hotel located on the square in Sonoma! Restaurants, bars and shopping all in short walking distance! Under normal circumstances for the higher price a wonderful choice! However, our experience was less than wonderful. It started with check in. 4:45 and rooms were not ready. A young man greeted us and almost immediately started serving us our wine tasting that was supposed to be at the castle. We were late checking in and missed our time for the castle. The wines were marginal , his service and knowledge was not impressive and he told us when our rooms were ready he would take our luggage up for us. None of that happened and eventually we took our own luggage up and while the rooms were not ready put our luggage in the room and went to dinner! This is where it gets interesting. We had no keys to the rooms. When we returned the hotel was locked up with no staff. During our entire stay we were not able to enjoy the outdoor patio or lobby to visit or have a night cap! No amenities or staff in the morning until after 8:00am. No coffee no place to sit, visit or enjoy this very special property. We had five rooms booked for three days! Unless this hotel fixes the labor issues and opens fully wound not recommend it! One bright note was the o e of the owners at 9:00 o’clock at night came back to hotel to let us into our rooms! Thanks Maggie Ledson…that is service!

My wife and I stayed for five nights at the Ledson Hotel and it was truly a magnificent experience from start to finish. The room (Noble) was decadent and overflowing with old-world charm. Beyond that, the room was also super quiet even though it overlooked the village square. Maggie, the Hotel Manager, was welcoming from the start and could not have done enough for us during our stay. Her knowledge of the Hotel, it’s family history and legacy, and of course the wines from the Zina Lounge that were provided to guests complimentary were just amazing. When she led us upstairs for the 1st time, it was absolutely like stepping back in time into a historic mansion dripping with luxury. Between its charm, fantastic location right in the Sonoma Square, and exquisite wines, it’s truly a home run and a must-do if you are planning a romantic trip into wine country!
