The property was beautiful and well maintained (except for the rickety staircase leading down to the creek). The cottage was sizable, clean and the service was good.
On the flip side there are a number of head scratchers for a place that charges premium rates. For example the restaurant was underwhelming - uninviting space, lackluster menu but very pricey.
One recurring pet peeve and an example of the property’s blind spot for premium service - coffee. Rooms are equipped with coffee makers that serve only mini shots of espresso, real coffee was only obtainable from the restaurant and had to be purchased. When paying the high end rates we paid why are we unable to get a decent cup of coffee? This seems indicative of a mindset that suggests everything has a price - not an entirely welcoming feeling. This sense was why I held back a star in my rating.

Although this is a premier, beautiful boutique resort, the prices have doubled since I first started going there. I was aware of some ownership changes… But this is ridiculous. My husband told me to stop loving L Auberge 🥹 The last time we stayed there we were in one of the cottages like we had stayed several times before. House Cleaning had not picked up our breakfast plates on the porch and I believe the critters that night had a field day then somehow they went underneath the cottage and a coral happened. I believe it was between skunks and raccoons, but who knows what it was all I know is they fought at 3 o’clock in the morning and the skunk let off a plume that came up through the floors. It was horrible. We literally slept under the covers, sealed tight till morning when I could call them and tell them what had happened. They did move us, which was nice, but it was during my birthday getaway and I found myself packing everything up to move it to another location. Don’t get me wrong. We know that we were in the woods so that is unexpected. But they literally offered us minimalrefund for the night that we lost and with the cost of what it is to stay there, I could’ve rented an Airbnb for less.

We stayed at this property, principally since American Express recommended, and the reviews had looked good. My overall experience was very good, the staff throughout the facility were knowledgeable, pleasant, and cooperative. Aspecial shout out to the restaurant. We had the tasting menu one night and it was outstanding and the wine pairings dead on. The spa and its staff were outstanding. We had breakfast several days there and that was outstanding. My only complaint was our room. We have room number 95 one of the scenic Vista rooms and while the view was spectacular, the room itself needed love and attention. The table on which the coffee maker was on, looked horrible, there were tears in some of the window curtains. There was noticeable stains on one of the chairs. The closet area looked like nobody had done any form of touchup with paint in years in the bathtub was unusable since the faucet needed to be repaired and was never repaired while we were there, I had sent emails to management while we were there, but I was surprised that nobody from senior management reached out to us, the cost of the room was pricey, and the quality of furnishings was not what I would expect at that cost

Was very disappointed with this property that represented itself as 4-star Forbes and Fine Hotel. It was not.
My biggest complaint was staff who for the most part was not friendly, professional, or helpful, with 1-2 exceptions. Property also needs major refresh, particularly the lobby, restaurant and spa. No effort to make property fun or appealing. Need live music, working outdoor heaters, etc.
Never saw concierge and front desk not helpful with reservations, hikes, etc.
There’s a lot of potential here for beautiful property. Hire people who care and train them adequately. The front desk sets the tone for the experience and it was not good. Major management problems here.

On top of being knowledgeable, she was genuinely kind and thoughtful, which made our stay even more enjoyable. It’s rare to come across someone so professional and personable. A true asset to the hotel—thank you!

Peaceful, beautiful resort.
Beautiful setting. Excellent staff providing world class service. Our room was well appointed, roomy, and had a beautiful view. Cost is high but felt to be in keeping with the overall experience. Breakfast and dinner at the resort restaurant were excellent. Highly recommend.

The grounds are very pretty. Landscaping well maintained and lush. You will be met with friendly staff. The concierge team, especially Maria and Dylann are fabulous. They will go out of their way to help you with reservations or plan out a visit to the Grand Canyon as they did for us. As for the rooms, they are a little tight. We didn’t get much of a view. We were located on the second floor of the lodge. They are clean and there is turned down service, which is lovely. The spa was really nice. The pool area is sad. It certainly needs to be brought up to date. The restaurant, Cress by the Creek, was just OK. Much better selections and quality in local restaurants. Valet service to local restaurants or to town within a certain radius was a nice perk. If you’re checking a car, it’s $30 a day plus taxes.

Lack of 5 Star Service Does Not Justify 5 Star Price

While the setting along Oak Creek is beautiful and our cabin was charming, the service was far below five-star standards, especially for the high price point. On our first night, we had dinner at the bar and experienced extremely poor service: after taking our drink order, our server disappeared for 45 minutes, and we had to flag down staff for every part of the meal. Food arrived cold, and basic necessities like cutlery, salt, and pepper were missing. We were never asked for another drink order when our drinks were visibly empty. Despite giving feedback to the front desk, no proactive follow-up was made. The meal was only comped after we specifically asked for it when settling our bill. The following day, we had lunch down by the creek. The service started off much better, and we were hopeful, but when it came time to get our bill our server disappeared for 15 minutes and we had to track him down ourselves.
The spa services we received were good. However, at checkout they informed us they had already added a 20% gratuity but said we could feel free to change it if we wanted, which came across as an uncomfortable pressure tactic rather than allowing guests to tip based on their experience, as you would expect at a five-star property. Additionally, when checking out, we noticed they had personalized “suggestion boxes” - pre-filled collections of retail products based on the type of service you received (available for purchase, not complimentary). The front desk attendant mentioned that we should have received one, but we hadn’t. Yet another small miss that reflected a lack of attention to detail.
During our stay, we also took advantage of the nightly astronomer session offered in the parking lot. While we saw some interesting sights through the telescope, the astronomer was a little unenthusiastic and unapproachable. At a luxury property, you expect staff (even contractors) to be passionate and welcoming, but instead, it felt like we were bothering him by asking questions.
Overall, while the natural beauty of the setting is undeniable, the service at every turn failed to meet five-star expectations or justify the premium price.

The view of the creek is so serene, the ambiance is luxurious, yet my favorite part is Elizabeth, the bartender. She is so knowledgeable about wine. She delivers impeccable customer service. And on my second visit, she remembered me even though it was several months later. I will absolutely be back!!!! This is the best bar in town.

Well, I tried to go. Tried to plan a last minute trip to Sedona. They had plenty of hotel availability, was about to book a Vista Suite Cottage room for 5 nights at $838/nite. Went ahead and booked flights. Just wanted to verify spa availability, and specifically wanted to book the seemed-to-be-amazing $1200 (!!) couples reconnect package. Called spa 2 times the first day and sent an email, each time told I’d hear back no later than 24 hrs. Expressed urgency since I’m trying to finalize last minute travel just 2 days away, and I’m going to spend over $6000 at their property after room, spa, food, tips, etc. Was verbally told they’d escalate the callback. Again, just trying to see if they had Any spa availability before committing (it did show most massages available online, but I couldn’t book the specific package I wanted online). No response in 24 hrs. Called again the following day, same “we will get right back to you”. Never got the callback, but did finally get an email 2 days later, AFTER the date I was planning to travel there. Had already cancelled flights and made plans to travel to another state instead. Highly disappointing.

The downgrade is strictly food/restaurant related. Road tripping, we stopped in for one night expecting a good night sleep and a decent meal. The burrata salad was poor quality, drenched, with cold/stale “grilled” sourdough from a grocery bag. The “steak frites” featured salty “tempura” coating with a heaping of extra salt — inedible. The club sandwich used the same old stale “grilled” bread with bacon leftover from the breakfast menu, deli turkey — all drenched in a pink sauce. The service was amateurish. This beautiful resort has all the bells and whistles, really lovely rooms and grounds, and is perfect for an anorexic. If it could get its kitchen act together it deserves 5 stars.

This is such a peaceful little oasis in Sedona. My husband and I went the first week of June to do some hiking and L'Auberge was the perfect place to unwind. We scheduled three couples massages at the Apothecary Spa to relax after our hikes and they were exactly what we needed. The spa is quiet and the services are heavenly. After our massages we grabbed some snacks and tea and relaxed on the outdoor patio under the trees.
We stayed in a creekside cottage and the front porch provided the perfect setting for some quiet reading. The room was spacious and well furnished and the outdoor shower was a nice surprise.
We dined at Cress for breakfast and a couple of dinners. The servers were all polite and just the right amount of attentive. The food was both beautiful in presentation and flavourful. Our day of departure, we stayed t our breakfast table well after we finished our meal just soaking up the sounds of the water and the birds.
We cannot wait to go back.

I was a guest at this resort for two nights in May, having booked a vista suite cottage. The positives first: check-in was efficient and welcoming and they accommodated our slightly early arrival. The natural setting was beautiful, including the creek side area which was peaceful and the views we had from our cottage. The sound bath experience we had with Echo was memorable and soul soothing. We found the central location convenient to many activities and restaurants. Now the negatives: the cottage we stayed in was very dated and our bathroom smelled of mildew. So much so that we opted to use the very “rustic” outdoor shower exclusively during our stay. The old pool area was uninspiring, uninviting and small. The first night we visited the bar and were served by a surly bartender a $39 (!) Margarita that tasted like it was a pre-mix. After this poor experience, we decided not to eat at the resort and are happy with that decision. Our primary dissatisfaction comes from having spent over $1000 for a 5-star experience and not getting a 5-star experience. This is not a hotel that is comparable to Four Seasons or Ritz, yet they charge exorbitant rates and fees on top of those rates. We enjoyed Sedona but would not recommend staying here unless they reduce rates substantially.
