We had a wonderful stay in the Pike Room. The room was spacious and comfortable with an expansive view of the lake. The location is ideal: on a quiet, secluded lake great for swimming with many options for boating and nearby hiking, but only a ten minute drive from the town of Saranac Lake with its restaurants and shops. Marjorie went out of her way to be helpful. Just note that the continental breakfast is quite light and that the kitchen has no stove, so it’s best to do some planning for meals.

We spent 3 nights with Marjorie , her husband and her son Doug while up in the area for a wedding. Marjorie has the perfect personality as an innkeeper. She cooks awesome breakfasts and her son Doug who is a schoolteacher serves you. Scrambled eggs weren’t in the menu one am and she just whipped them up for me. They have canoes and kayaks you use for free. Their lab is a sweet older dog who loves attention. We laughed and enjoyed her and Doug’s company so much felt like we were old friends by the end of 3 days! Stay here! You’ll love it!

Our room - Eagle - had everything we wanted or needed, including good binoculars! Certainly Marjorie had thought of everything. The guest kitchen was a very useful plus.
The place feels remote but is only three miles from Saranac Lake.
We had plenty of rain and cold - at the beginning of June - and it was still a lovely few days on Kiwassa Lake.

My husband and I had a very nice and relaxing 3 night stay at the Kiwassa B&B last week. The Cochran family took very good care of us and made us feel at home. The view from our Eagle room was probably the best we have ever had in all our years of traveling. The lake and mountain view, and the charming Adirondack room, spotlessly clean and complete with creaky wood floors, was our little hide away. The breakfasts were good and their lovely dog was a real country charmer who greeted us upon our arrival. Loved our stay and hope to return some day.

This This B&B was situated right on Lake Kiwassa. It's a beautiful lake with without many speed boats.
The owners were warm, friendly and extremely helpful regarding local activities. In additions they had kayaks and canoes available for use if we wanted to go out on lake.
The rooms were clean and comfortable and the breakfasts were very good. All needs regarding food were taken into consideration.

Kiwassa Bed and Breakfast is the perfect place to escape for a weekend, a week, or for a much longer stay. Although only minutes from downtown Saranac Lake, this piece of heaven at the end of the road is as private as can be. Staying in one of the four beautifully Adirondack appointed rooms in the main house truly transports you to the land of relaxation. We stayed in Bear - a large room featuring vaulted ceilings, two comfortable queen beds, a fireplace, 2 sitting areas, a large closet, and a private bath. Owner Marjorie’s decorating is charming, complete with a bookcase filled with books, and a most impressive polar bear pelt decorating the wall. A delicious breakfast is served each morning downstairs in the dining room, or on the adjacent patio facing beautiful Kiwassa Lake. There’s even a small kitchen available to the upstairs guests that has a fridge (with ice), microwave, sink, and fully stocked with plates, glasses, and much more. Canoes, kayaks, rowboats, etc., are all available to guests. Just sitting on the docks in the Adirondack chairs watching the lake is bliss. We will definitely back!

The Adirondacks are my happy place, and I visit every year. This was our third visit to the Kiwassa Lake B&B, and we plan to return again next summer. The location just can’t be beat, it is RIGHT on the lake, with all the beautiful views and water access that entails. After a week of spending time with family, my husband and I like to come here for peace and quiet and total relaxation. The rooms are thoughtfully laid out to offer maximum views and cross-breezes; the beds are comfortable; the rooms are pleasant, airy, and clean; and the evenings and nights are so peaceful and quiet that I always sleep well here. Marjorie and her son, Doug, are pleasant and friendly and we enjoy chatting with them. Marjorie is very accommodating and let my sister and her husband drop off their kayaks on the property a few days before they checked in. When I’m staying here, I hate to leave to go do things; I prefer to stay and enjoy reading and kayaking and just looking at the lake (beautiful sunset views, btw). I wish I were there right now!

In a gorgeous setting the potential magic of the scenery is blemished by the rundowns buildings and broken docks. It just looks tired. Friendly hosts but disappointed with the breakfast. Better to eat in town at The Blue Moon Cafe. Bed was not comfortable.

We decided to take a trip to the Adirondacks at the last minute because of an unexpected stretch of warm weather in October. The first night, we stayed in a busy hotel in Lake Placid, and it was fortunate they could not accommodate us for another night, because we found this beautiful little B&B available online. It was a little pricey, but may be worth it. The facility is like a “mini Adirondack lodge” with knotty pine, open beams, and local decor. There are only 4 rooms in the building, and it is right on the lake, with beautiful views. We stayed in the Moose room, which is large, with a view somewhat obstructed by a chimney. Pike and Eagle rooms have beautiful views, but are smaller. Bear room is very large, with a fireplace, and is in the back of the building with no view. There are seasonal cabins owned by the same people along the shore that are self contained. The dining and lobby areas are spacious and have beautiful views of the lake, but have limited availability, as it is a true B&B, and the owners live in that space. The upstairs, where the guest rooms are, has it’s own full kitchen, with coffee maker, and full fridge and microwave. Breakfast is served in the dining area. The food was good (one morning a Dutch apple pancake, one morning a frittata) and ample for me, but my husband wished it was more generous with more choices. The hosts Marjory and Cliff are welcoming, available, and helpful. They have lived in the area a long time, and know local attractions well. There are kayaks and canoes available, and it’s a pretty area to paddle around. Good hiking and the Town of Saranac Lake are close by. You will find good restaurants and shops in the old fashioned town. I’m happy we stayed here on our first trip to the ADK, and hope we get a chance to return some day.

My husband and I just returned from a two night stay in the Bear Room. The Cochrans were most welcoming and the B&B was very clean and nicely decorated. Each breakfast was delicious. We grew up in the Adirondacks and can tell you firsthand Kiwassa Lake is especially beautiful and quiet. The B&B was the ideal place for us to swim and kayak (kayaks and preservers available on site). Without hesitation we would love to return to this great place.
