We arrived later than expected but Les set us at ease with his warm welcome. Once we’d negotiated the front gate and been escorted into the property, our positive first impressions were confirmed by the clean, spacious apartment. We knew immediately Kernow fit the bill perfectly for our Christmas getaway - a launch pad for adventure and fun and a cool, comfortable place to return to for respite and relaxation. You, like us, must have booked accommodation where you infuriatingly can’t find an ice cube to save your life; and even if there was a knife capable of cutting into a tomato, the only serving bowl is made for cereal? Or perhaps you’ve experienced the frustration of not being able to wash a pan because the only cleaning implement is the size of a postage stamp? Or the ignominy of having to fill the kettle from the shower rose because it won’t fit under the kitchen tap? Let me assure you Kernow is NOT such a place! Thoughtfully and elegantly appointed, there’s nothing that left us wanting, inside or out. The complex is as vast and intriguing as its history suggests and we enjoyed exploring it, although missed the gymnasium (despite our best intentions)! Les and Vanessa were consummate hosts, unobtrusive yet accessible and amenable. We came for two nights, stayed for four and can’t wait to come back!

Loved the extra activities at the gym such as table tennis and pool. Beautiful swimming pool area with free drinks and wine. Their cleaning services are superb and they made sure we enjoyed our stay. It's my third time staying there and I definitely recommend for getaway trip.

An absolute gem of a place! My husband and I were travelling around QLD and randomly decided to stop in Charters Towers. A few google searches and we came across the Charters Towers apartments. Les booked us in and his welcome was impeccable. He even accommodated us for an additional night at the last minute. We got a garden view apartment -not only was the apartment spacious but very neat and tidy. A fully fledged kitchen and laundry were available in our apartment. I would definitely classify it as a 5 star instead of 4 star. He looked after us and ensured the room was topped up with all amenities. The amazing sunset, the random visits by the cats made the entire experience memorable. We would definitely come back again! Thank you Les. Cheers, Alexander and Lynn

We have stayed here on a number of occasions and have absolutely enjoyed every one of them. Kernow is our go to place for accommodation in Charters Towers. We have made visits to Charters Towers so that we could have a relaxing break at Kernow. Les & Vanessa are the most welcoming & friendly owners of any accommodation we have ever been to. The apartments (and we have tried almost all) are always very clean and comfortable with complementary welcome drinks by the pool & a large range of breakfast needs supplied. The grounds are huge with tennis courts, golf driving range,gym walking trail and more available. situated on the edge of town yet so quiet and relaxing.

Hospitality from owner / manager was first class. Complimentary drinks and continental breakfast was nice touch. Quiet location on edge of town but close to city centre and all the attractions. Would definitely recommend Kernow and hope to return.

Wonderful accommodation. Private, quiet and spacious with first class furniture and fittings. Lovely breakfast provided and only 5 minutes from shops and eateries. Our only regret is that we didn't book a longer stay. Excellent value for money.

The grounds are well maintained the rooms impeccable and small touches like free drinks your first night and menu choices delivered for your breakfast add to the experience. We were lucky enough to have Les, the co-owner take us on a tour of the facility and its history. If you’re traveling to Charter Towers do yourself a favor and spend a few extra dollars, you will not be disappointed.

Kernow is a hidden gem and a work in progress. What has been done is outstanding with more to be done before Vanessa and her partner can relax and enjoy the fruits of their endeavours. The property and Charters Towers desperately needed rain and fortunately for them and unfortunately for us it came down in bucket loads while we were there. We stayed in Suite 10 by the pool area and it was presented beautifully. Two master bedrooms complete with ensuite’s and a spacious, bright, modern eating and entertaining area that was first class. The original paintings on the walls and the interesting furnishings gave it a great feel. The well stocked kitchen area with quality utensils and glasses were put to good use when we decided to buy some food and dine in. Vanessa provided a wholesome and excellent breakfast to start the day. This is a property worth visiting and certainly more than an overnight stay.

Great place to stay for a night or even more. Set on a beautiful property, great view down the valley from the gym, huge gym so well laid out, rooms perfect, well decorated, so clean, lots of little extras. Would def return thx Vanessa for your hospitality nothing was missed, 110%

We stayed in a studio room on a short break and were extremely happy with the room and whole facility. The room is totally reburnished to modern standards and includes TV, mini fridge, split, reverse cycle air con and jug. The bathroom is small but prefect for two, a big plus is that water pressure is good and hot water comes online quickly. The room has a large sofa for reading or relaxing and the outside deck has two chairs and a small table for snacks and dinks to watch the sunset or just enjoy the outdoors. Storage space is limited and there are no cooking facilities or micro-wave but the room is suppled with tea, coffee and sugar with a tiny carton of milk, bring your own supply if you like lots of hot drinks. The ground coffee is delicious. There is a very comfortable pool area with bbq and drinks fridge and chairs and tables, no glass is allowed inside the area so plastic cups are advised. A big plus for us, we are in our 60's, was the fact that children under 18 are not catered for which makes the whole complex very peaceful and relaxing. Highly recommend.

The grounds are beautiful and we were greeted by the owner at the gate and told everything about the property. We were able to play pool, golf and there was a large gym and pool area too. A great spot to get away without having to stay in town. Highly recommend!

A fabulous and lovely surprise. Our accommodation in a terrace room was really comfortable and we loved the quality of the furnishings and the attention to detail, along with the complimentary pool drinks and facilities. We recommend this property 100%. Thank you for a lovely stay

We had a long drive on inland road from Atherton to Charters towers. Found this wonderful accomodation in Charters towers. They have ten deluxe units surrounding the pool. With large kitchen dining room lounge and deck which leads straight into the pool. They also provide eggs toast cereal and toast for in-house breakfast which is amazing. Nice touches like a stoked pool fridge for a daily drink at the pool. Staff very kind and helpful. Don’t miss staying there you won’t be disappointed. Also they have budget motel units but we did not look at them as our accomodation was far too good for the price they charged.

What a fantastic place to stay, comfort plus. Truly great facilities, great attention to detail and quality fittings. Charters towers is an interesting place to visit and to have a five star place to stay is a real bonus. Thank you for opportunity.

Vanessa is an excellent host. For various reasons, we haven't been able to stay here for a few years. Vanessa treated us like old friends and the apartment was extremely clean and comfortable. Nothing was too much trouble. We definitely recommend staying here, even if you're passing through. Fantastic 👌!

Kernow is a hidden secret of charters towers, much better than any standard hotel/motel. A very interesting renovation of a historical site that’s well worth experiencing. See it while some of the old buildings still exist if you can. A homely spacious apartment, well-equipped to high standard, very quiet and peaceful setting. The kitchen was stocked with many basic essentials including breakfast. The internet was generally fine for the majority of the time (evening time likely had more traffic).

Kernow at Charters Towers has been lovingly renovated to create unique and very comfortable accommodation. We stayed in the West Wing for a couple of nights. The owners are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. We look forward to returning
