We stayed here during a cloudy and often rainy week in early March. This of course is not the fault of the hotel. The weather was disappointing and as we could not get full use of the pools, it highlighted there’s not much else to do at the hotel apart from that. Due to this poor weather and having to be inside, the hotel would benefit from having indoor entertainment such as movies or quizzes as we spent a lot of afternoons watching movies in our room. Boring.
The hotel itself though is very nice though and check in was friendly and efficient. Our room was kept very clean and it was peaceful. The staff are very friendly. Body wash and soap are provided in the bathroom which is very nice and it had a great shower. I wouldn’t recommend the room we had though (2nd floor) as it looked out over a roof. The view was disappointing even though we could see the sea in the distance. I’d advise requesting a room on a high floor.
The buffet restaurant was efficiently run and offered good tasty food. The ambiance though was as expected, total chaos. There are restaurants relatively close by, outside the hotel, but due to the area they are more expensive than average and need to be booked in advance. There is also a Spanish restaurant at the hotel which we didn’t try as it was always empty. This also needs booking in advance.
The entertainment in the evenings was mostly very enjoyable. We had to try to get there early to get a decent seat out of the cold and rain though.
The guests are a mix of nationalities and were not overly friendly. We like to smile and say hello to our fellow guests but most did not engage. They were of the older age group on the week we were there.
We did make the most of our week in Tenerife (we rented a car) but I’m not sure I’d risk going again as the weather let us down.

Had a great relaxing break at the Riu Arecas. And it was so nice to be able to go down to the restaurant of an evening and not have to dress up like a dogs dinner.
The food was good with ample selection for both Breakfast & Dinner. And the large pot of coffee delivered to your table at breakfast was more than welcome.
I would like to add that the staff were all very good. friendly and helpful. Would
highly recommend.

We loved staying here. Hotel is beautiful, staff great, food great - probably a bit too great! I don't understand negative remarks about the food at all. Never heard such nonsense! The cleaners always did a great job in our room, and always seemed happy. So did the rest of the staff.
Our favourite place was the hotels own beach and swimming pool with beach bar. Absolutely beautiful! There were some steps down which may be a problem for those with mobility issues.
The Spanish restaurant made a lovely change. Very enjoyable.
The only few slight negatives would be that the swimming pool could have been a couple of degrees warmer. The bathroom towels could do with replacing and the bath towels could be larger. Also the sun loungers were a bit annoying as they couldn't go flat. The great thing is that there were always plenty of loungers. No fighting!
We would definitely return here.

What we thought was a really wonderful hotel after going there for several years and being a gold member of Riu Class, we were just a commodity. all they want is your custom and money and nothing more!
Our nightmare began when my husband took ill and was rushed into hospital with a brain tumor. I thought with the overwhelming nightmare of this, that all stops would be pulled out to make my life easier and bearable to manage. How wrong could I have been.
Firstly, my daughter wanted to fly in from the UK to support me during this difficult time. I was told that she was not able to stay in our room because THE RULES are that my husband's name was on the booking and they could not accommodate her in the room as TUI (our Travel Company) would not allow the name to be changed from my husband's to my daughter's name (albeit he was seriously ill in hospital and wasn't in the room)!! A simple name change couldn't be done and I was left to cope with this traumatic experience on my own!
I even approached the Manageress to see if I could extend my visit at the hotel whilst my husband was in intensive care in hospital and was told that she was not responsible for reservations - why is she there if she cannot do a simple request of extending my reservation during this traumatic time!!!
I was then told my TUI and RIU reservations that because it was the Christmas period there were no vacancies!!
This was a complete lie, the night before I had to vacate my room, I spoke to a couple who had just checked in from the UK and they told me they had only booked the night before and was given the option of two rooms?? I was utterly shocked to learn that in fact there was a room available. Since this incident my husband has only day to live!!!
Under no circumstances would I ever book into this hotel again. Went I needed compassion and help they didn't want to know.

It's in a great location, with access to the beach, (stairs to negotiate) a bus stop very close by and a supermarket across the road.
Two huge pools, plus the infinity pool in the sister hotel. Never a problem getting a sun bed.
I think the hotel room is one of the best I’ve come across for facilities; it seems that everything has been really well thought through. The only thing we found to be missing for our needs was an iron and board but we coped.
Didn’t ever make breakfast but dinner is buffet style which isn’t our preferred option but we found the food to be really good, hot and plentiful. No complaints. Sometimes there were no clean tables available but the staff are super-efficient and will rush to sort a table for you if they see you hovering. They work very hard.
You can also buy lunch and there is a poolside bar for drinks. We found the food and drink prices to be extremely competitive for a hotel.
We found the entertainment to be really good with a jolly atmosphere.
There is music every evening which starts at around 8.45 and ends at 10.30. Although the bar doesn’t close until 1am, once the live entertainment ends the place empties out in double quick time. We like a late drink so it would be nice to have some music playing afterwards, perhaps more people would stay.
Las Americas is only a short taxi ride away and so a few evenings we went there for a late night drink and entertainment.
The hotel is super clean.
The staff are all brilliant, very friendly. Shout out to the fabulous Ricardo and all his lovely team in the bar. Special thanks to the reception staff who sorted out the issue I had with our ground floor room. That was very much appreciated.
Rooms are cleaned to a high standard by the very friendly housekeeping team.
In summary, if you are looking for a fun zone hotel with pool music and activities during the day or around the pool or if you are looking for a late night hub this place is not for you.
We, however so appreciated the daytime peace and quiet and evening fun of this friendly adult only hotel.
We will be back!

Stayed at 3 other hotels in the Adeje area. Havnt returned to any of the others but our second visit to this one. For us the location is brilliant. The area to the rear of the hotel where there is an infinity bar overlooks the beach and is such a beautiful place to soak up some rays. Plus DelDuque beach is a short walk away. Another beautiful place. Shops, supermarkets, and restaurants are all a short walk away. La Caleta is a lovely place for a meal while eating the waves roll in. As far as the hotel itself is concerned, the rooms themselves are quite basic but very functional. Big bed, big walk in shower, we had a balcony looking over the sea and the pools. All kept very clean. All the staff are very very friendly and welcoming. Which is unusual in my experience but EVERYONE from the reception staff (especially Roberto) the cleaners, restaurant staff poolside couldn’t have been more helpful.
The reception area could be laid out better - not enough comfy chairs.
The usual sunbed reserving is quite sad but no different to any other hotel.
We did get a bit wound up by two very “entitled” women who took it upon themselves to reserve 4 sunbeds by the infinity pool for at least 4 days running! Two for the sun and two for the shade. Then other people were coming down looking for sunbeds when there were none available. They were oblivious and extremely selfish in my opinion. Overall though, a really fantastic hotel. Thank you.

The hotel is as described, albeit the rooms are dated and could do with being refurbished, service before the strike, good in general although lacking around the pools (we couldn’t work out if it was waiter service, they seemed to avoid eye contact to order round the pool, but insisted on delivering your drink if you ordered at the bar, very odd!)
Food before the strike was very good, lots of choice, Italian, Asian, salads & roasted meats, which changed every day.
Strikes, really marked the holiday for us, our last 2 days we were woken up at 8am (not early for most I know) to air horns, whistles, mega phones & firecrackers, which persisted through out the day around all parts of the hotel, it felt pretty hostile, although in fairness, all the strikers were no problem to pass just noisy. The strike appears to be in a dispute between a 4% vrs 6% pay rise island wide. Service during the strike was a bare minimum, reduced food services & options (no live cooking stations) paper plates, plastic cutlery and plastic cups. Very limited drinks options soft drinks and beer (although free, but it was not welcoming getting the drink) Staff in their own clothing. Not the end of the world, but not the same holiday. We were quite relieved to be going home late morning of the second day.
The people still at the hotel have our sympathy, in addition to the strikes they have witnessed, there is a Farra world (outdoor live music venue for the canaries, behind the hotel) event tonight.
On leaving the hotel they unsurprisingly didn’t ask us about our stay, there approach appeared to be pretend it’s not happening or maybe the staff checking us out would like the matters highlighted, depends on there position in the dispute I guess.
In short when there’s not a strike, a good hotel, with very good food & service. During a strike not good at all for us

Just returned from this fabulous hotel - we couldn’t have picked a better place to stay! We know the area from previous visits to Tenerife & decided on this hotel the next time we visited - it’s in a great location, quiet & within easy walking distance to Costa Adele, and it’s adult only which we prefer. Previous reviews suggest this hotel is chosen by a much more ‘senior’ age group to ourselves in general - yes it is, but we much prefer it this way, as it mean it’s quieter, which it was.
Our room was on the 3rd floor on the side of the hotel (annexed part) which was quiet & it overlooked the green grassed area and the mountains. It was spotlessly clean and extremely comfortable with a large double bed & tons of storage & hangers. The bathroom had a large walk in shower, which was incredibly powerful, plenty of loo roll and a very good hairdryer. The bedding consisted of sheets, though there was a huge, soft blanket available in the wardrobe to use. The air conditioning worked well and there was also a large ceiling fan - we did use these as the weather was mostly hot & sunny. I took my own shampoo/conditioner, but didn’t use them in the end since the hair & body wash & separate conditioner provided was of a high quality and made my longish hair soft and shiny.
House keeping staff were all very friendly and did an excellent job. Towels were changed if you placed them on the floor and the bedding was changed regularly if needed. The towels provided were in good order - not threadbare at all.
We found the food served both at breakfast & in the evenings excellent & plentiful. There was a vast choice which whilst some things stayed similar, there were new things every night. The soup was lovely, as were the vegetables, and choices of roast meats and fish. Everything was replenished quickly as it needed to be. There was opportunity to sit and eat in the daytime, but we tended to fill up at breakfast, then not eat until teatime. The restaurant areas were busy, but we never had a problem finding a seat.
We visited the Spanish Ole restaurant one evening - book as early as you can when you arrive as it gets busy. Again, the food was very good - there was a dish ready when you sat down, then a buffet starter, before your chosen main meal, and a buffet sweets section too.
All the staff were incredibly polite and friendly - everyone seemed happy to be working there which was great to see.
We aren’t usually fussed about evening entertainment, as we tend to go to bed early, but we did sit and have a drink - especially the cocktails, most evenings; it’s mainly singers, some being better than others.
The pools are excellent, not too cold - we were in everyday - even when it rained on one of the days. We had no issues finding a sun bed either during our stay. Towels are exchanged next to the outdoor bar area - both the pool men were jolly and helpful. Even the pool toilets were well maintained, in good order and spotlessly clean - this hasn’t always been the case with other hotels we’ve been to in the past.
Would we go back? Yes, without a doubt.

We were originally booked into Hovima adults only in Costa Adeje but the reviews were bad 👎 so we changed holiday to Riu Arecas and best choice we could of made👌 .
Staff are very polite and professional all staff including cleaners and they keep it immaculate the toilets in main reception are immaculate as are the rooms.
Food wise we were Hb and the choice was amazing always hot and plenty of choice for Breakfast and dinner, the drinks were very good priced too and loved the Evening entertainment and we seen it from our 4th floor room which was perfect 🥰.
Pool areas immaculate and no entertainment teams in your face but quiet and pool bar staff lovely 😊. The area is perfect for exploring and local bus just outside of hotel.
We are returning July 2025 for 3 weeks as we loved it so much and can not wait to see that fabulous view from our room we had last year fingers crossed 😀
See you soon Riu Arecas we highly recommend this hotel.

I have to say what a little gem this hotel is! Having read a recent review they must have stayed at a different hotel.
It’s our first time here and have to say for a four star hotel it is fabulous. The staff are lovely and the hotel is spotless. Yes okay like all hotels (believe me we stay in Tenerife 3/4 times a year and usually 5 star) all hotels have some wear and tear but it’s nothing like the last review suggests.
The food at breakfast is lovely. There is plenty of choice to suit all diets and the porridge is the best! Maybe not an English sausage…..why not try a tortilla instead after all you are in Spain!
The pool area and staff are lovely. If you don’t like concrete surrounded by lawn, there is a lovely area and infinity pool you can access by walking down a few steps. It’s sandy and no concrete insight! There’s a bar, spotlessly clean toilets, plenty of loungers and parasols.
The spar shop is two minutes across the road if you wish to purchase water and another supermarket and coffee shop opposite.
The rooms are spotless, the staff lovely. The drink on arrival yes is orange juice but again it’s 4 star! There is nothing wrong with that,
We happen to be here and friends are here also! They are returning guests and say the service and cleanliness is as it’s always been
We will be back……thank you Riu we will be sad to leave tomorrow

Sun loungers were absolutely rubbish so uncomfortable no cushions. They do not supply water you have to walk uphill to local Spar to buy water. Breakfast basic no English sausages just mini frankfurters. Evening food not much better if you eat fish guess its OK but I am allergic. Pool bar staff stand chatting every one had to go and order and wait for drinks. Seating area in lobby so uncomfortable. Evening entertainment rubbish. Cleaners a bit hit and miss. Some reception staff o.k. Evening bar staff were very friendly. On arrival all you get after travelling a long time is a small glass of orange. I don't get some of the reviews saying excellent Hotel they have obviously not stayed in anything better. Would I return definitely NOT

We have been coming back for years mainly because this is a value for money holiday, the staff are friendly and the food is good. However the rooms are starting to look a bit dated and the paviours around the top pools need replacing. The surface is worn and horrible with bare feet. (The Palace is just as worn on the paviours) We use the beach area but would not want to use the top area This year we had a ground floor room which had mould in the corners of the shower. No need for this. We didn’t complain at the time as you don’t want to spoil a holiday by complaining. Housekeeping just need to check. I would go back as the hotel is in a good area and we don’t go on holiday to sit in the room we go for the sunshine.

Food was good and whilst the buffet changed daily , it was however a bit of a variation on a theme. We requested a room with afternoon sun on the balcony and got one. Whilst it was close to the outside bar with evening entertainment, this finished at 10.30pm so no real issue.
We rented a car, essential to get around the island to seek out sunnier spots when the Adeje area was a bit cloudy, hotel parking was free and ample .
A couple of small gripes to mention . The hotel wanted around £3 per day to use the safe which we didn’t need as the most valuable listen we had was an electric toothbrush ! It also charged around €3 for a small bottle of water to have with dinner, we only bought this the first night. Looking around most people bought the overpriced water and after a quick calculation I reckon the hotel makes at least €250 per night on this ( or€100,000pa!)
