Nice place to stay and close to amenities
Great space, nice bungalows. Access to beach for sunset and the restaurant, Sunset, available at specific times with good food and alcohol available. You can snorkel at beach too. Office staff kind and accommodating. Would go back if able 😎
Good location, no amenities, below average

Good and polite stuff and manager. Rooms are ok. Bathroom in the average priced room don’t smell well which affects the room’s smell.
If you come around New Years $350 for a room is not justified. No character, no facilities or bed chairs to enjoy beach front.
They have a great location but they made no effort to make it nice or let people enjoy it.
Pool is tiny… and worn out
It’s worth $75 not $350.
If you have another choice I would no go to hibiscus … if you don’t, then make sure you have a car to go to other places since Hibiscus made no effort to make the beach front possible to enjoy.
Our AC did not work, next day they changed our room and upgraded us which was nice but they said ‘ its your fault, because you Americans are used to AC’
That when our room was frying in the 90’ heat all day and they had bo screens on windows and their fan was useless…
Our choice was either to open windows and get eaten by mosquitos or get boiled…
Restaurant dinner food is mediocre.
Italian next door is good as long as you make a reservation, otherwise they are arrogant if you don’t….

We stayed 9 nights in Bungalow 12 as a couple.
We enjoyed the location of the bungalow as it had a sea view and it was modern, one of the refurbished ones, with air/con. It's comfortable, although there's not much storage and it would be greatly improved if there were some hooks in the bathroom. The real benefit is the small kitchenette with the fridge, so we actually went to the supermarket and had a well-stocked cupboard/fridge to have our own breakfast everyday on our terrace.
The Reception area is small and a little bit run-down, the staff are very helpful and attentive. Note, there's no concierge service, it's DIY and the reception work hours are during the day only and start after most of the trips pick up. Basically, there's no help, if your tour doesn't arrive or you need help outside of regular hours.
There's a dichotomy with this hotel as it's listed as a 2Star, but in many ways the quality of the bungalow, the setting, location on the lagoon is much higher than that. Then you visit the pool, the tired/dirty sun beds, and the fact that there's no shade anywhere and you realise it's 2Star for the overall offering. You get what you pay for.
In our case, as we were staying for a while, we rented a car, bought our own parasol umbrella, sun bed (yes, we went to a gardening store) and made the best of it.
The Sunset Restaurant is a real bonus, the staff are very attentive and hard-working. The quality of the food was good, and the cocktails were a real treat. Much better than the bigger hotels that are 4/5Star.
Sunset: Each evening wonderful!
The hotel grounds (other than the pool) were immaculate and the cleaners have a fantastic work ethic, our room/bathroom was spotlessly cleaned everyday. Thank you Vanna and her aunty.
I think one of the main plus points, in our view, was that the bungalows are well-spaced out and you don't feel 'on top of each other'.
Our holiday was a wonderful relaxing break, and we would love to return again one day!

This is a cute little place with scattered bungalows on the beach. The owner had warned us when we checked in to lock our sliders when we were out and to bring in snorkel gear as people walking on the beach might take it. Never ever did we imagine that someone would enter our bungalow in the middle of the night while we sleeping in bed and steal money, jewelry, other items.
The next morning we were due to fly out early. I contacted the hotel several times after the theft but never heard a word back from them regarding this. BEWARE! I did file a police report and the gendarmes were surprised the hotel did not seem to care.

Check in was very easy. Everything from the management to the restaurant staff was phenomenal! Location was perfect for us. It is located halfway around the island from the airport. The grounds are very well maintained. Beautiful area for swimming and snorkeling. Saw plenty of fish and stingrays. The food at the restaurant was fantastic! There are other restaurants and shops within walking distance. We rented a car for two of our four days. Went to Belvidere Lookout and swam at Temae Beach. Wich is right beside the sofitel. It is a public beach. And it is beautiful! Snorkeling and swimming is great. Another day we spent the day at Cooks Bay. It was so beautiful. Sunsets at the hotel hibiscus are very romantic. Everything about this island is romantic. My wife and I not only fell in love with the island. But the people as well.

Nice stay at Hotel Hibiscus in Moorea
We stayed 4 nights in Moorea at Pension Hibiscus and we had a lovely time. I hightly raccomend this hotel, it is next to a wonderful beach, people are very kind, the restaurant has beautyful view and the bungalows and the garden are soooo nice!!!!
Friendly staff and great value for money

I did plenty of research before booking here and this hotel ticked some very important boxes for the price it charges.
For example, many comparable properties don’t have a swimming pool or air conditioned rooms and are not very close to shops and restaurants. Hotel Hibiscus is very close to a nice shopping area with restaurants and grocery stores that enable you to do some self-catering.
The staff is friendly and the small size of the establishment means service is personal and responsive.
Air conditioning is wonderful when it’s hot and humid and being able to swim in the late afternoon in the pool was very convenient.
Just remember to apply the sunscreen and mosquito repellant liberally when on Moorea!
Merci beaucoup Nathalie and staff!

Great location and beautiful views and nicely kept gardens. We had requested a room with aircon (which we got) but we hadn't realised at the time of booking that aircon rooms are only in a separate concrete building, not in a fare. Fares only have fans. So we were a little disappointed that this was not explained to us at the time of booking. However, the room was fine, the aircon worked well and the little balcony was cute. However the outdoor furniture needed a really good clean as it had mildewy marks all over it. Cleaning staff came daily and were very pleasant. Overall, we had a good stay but facilities were tired for the money that they charged.

Dusty at back of toilet in modernised bathroom but main room remains in the eighties. Kitchenette well stocked with dishes etc. No reception, you have to go to hotel next door. Just don’t.

We stayed at the Hotel Hibiscus for 4-nights in mid-May (C$238/night). The Hibiscus, located on the NW corner of Moorea Island, consisted of 25 thatched-roof bungalows among nicely maintained lawns, hibiscus shrubs and trees. All of the bungalows had a similar layout and were spaced and oriented so each was quite private. Ours, a lagoon-view unit, was spacious but well-worn & showing its age. Entry was through small kitchen (mini-fridge, stove-top, minimal cutlery, glasses, etc.) with the bathroom to the side (dual sinks on a small vanity, large shower with water pressure so low you almost huddle against the wall to get wet, very coarse towels). The bedroom, through a second door, had king & single bed & a chest of drawers & cabinet for storage. To the front through sliding glass doors was a large deck with plastic chairs & table, 2 lounging chairs and a 70 degree view of the lagoon. The room seemed dark & gloomy during the day despite the high, peaked ceilings because the only windows were at the front & back. There was an overhead fan, but no AC, and because the doors were not screened, they had to be kept closed from dusk to dawn due to mosquitoes, adding another layer of discomfort to the gloom.
The hotel had a restaurant & bar overlooking the beach (open for meals but closed most of the afternoon). There wasn't much of a beach in front – a bit of a pond & sandy area created by a rock and concrete wall – but the hotel was adjacent to a public beach with a nice sandy shore and wading area. There was snorkeling right off shore, but quite shallow and the visibility wasn't great – we found the best snorkeling on the island to be on the other side next to the Sofitel Hotel. The location was great for sunsets, though. Further back on the property was a small but well maintained pool – quite deep, so it didn't attract any children. Other amenities included laundry (1,000 francs per load) and a book exchange & use of the TV in the front office. The staff were friendly and helpful – everyone spoke at least some English, so language was not an issue. We had a rental car to more easily tour the island. It wasn't necessary to have one here, though, because amenities were nearby – the little mall 100 m to the left had 3 restaurants, a convenience store and tourist shops, with a 2nd convenience store a similar distance to the right, and the hotel offered tour bookings.
The Hibiscus was nicely situated on a sunset beach, had a good, reasonably priced restaurant, and offered reasonable bungalows. On the negative side, the bungalows would have been much more comfortable had the doors been screened, and I would have expected better towels and shower for the price.

The location of Hotel Hibiscus was perfect for beach walks, kayaking to three nearby motus (islets) and sunset viewing. There were also restaurants, two small grocery stores and gift shops within walking distance. Our garden bungalow was comfortable and clean. The bungalow did not have air-conditioning, and it was warm during the day, however we weren’t spending time inside during the day and in the evening it cooled off and along with the ceiling fan we slept comfortably. It was great to have a pool on site in addition to ocean swimming, and the on-site restaurant was convenient. We would definitely return to Hotel Hibiscus.

We loved our stay here. The staff was very friendly. Loved the thatch roof. They have good screened vents around the roof on all sides and a good ceiling fan. Was plenty cool all night and morning. Was a bit warm 2pm - 4pm, just step outside and it is cool. Would have been much better if there was a screen door on the "front door" and sliding glass door. If had screens over both, could have opened up the big doors and had great cool ventilation in the heat of the day. It was very quiet here except for 1 day in our 6 day stay when a flock of roosters ran through our grounds at 4am. Had 15 roosters crowing loudly from 4am thru dawn. I put in ear plugs and slept well. Other 5 days had 1 rooster crowing occasionally after 5:30am and was not loud. The restaurant there is quite good. There is a grocery store , shops, and other restaurants a 5 minute walk away. We bought eggs and ham and cooked breakfast in our room to avoid the $28 per person breakfast buffet. Note there is a $5 per day per towel charge for the beach towels. This was not disclosed until we checked out. Not a huge deal, I just did not expect this. We rented a car one day and Moorea is quite beautiful. If you rent a car June - August be sure to book it several days in advance. We booked ours 1 day in advance and to the last car on the island and it was not available until 11am. there are only 2 rental car agencies on the island. The beach next door at the public beach is very nice. You can snorkel right in front of the hotel with lots of beautiful fish. We got to snorkel with a humpback whale in August when we took a whale watching tour, and incredible experience. Room is a good size. We booked room #13 which is a beach view room. Plenty big for the 2 of us. We loved the lanai (patio). You will probably be the only guests that speak English here. In 2 weeks (including Bora Bora) we met 3 groups that were from England or America. Many of the Hibiscus employees speak English, but not all and there is a bit of a language barrier here and everywhere in French Polynesia. Not insurmountable, but you have to take a lot of time to be sure you are understood. Mooreea Fun Dive is a 5 minute walk away. There are an awesome scuba diving shop.
