We have been coming to Marbella to celebrate our wedding anniversary every year for a number of years. For the last 4 years we have come to Gran Melia Don Pepe and now, we wouldn't stay anywhere else. It is the perfect luxury retreat to enjoy a bit of pampering and some winter sun. Everything about the hotel is first class. The surroundings and facilities are luxurious. The staff are warm, welcoming and no matter who you speak to or deal with they are interested only in making sure everything is just perfect. We have never stayed on the Red Level which I am sure is lovely, however our room last time which was a sea view room on level 1 was just lovely. The breakfasts are fabulous and we love our leisurely start to the day in the breakfast room. We are home now and looking forward to booking our next visit very soon.

All (and even more) you can except from a palace!
We discovered, with a real pleasure, a very high quality hôtel.
Everything was perfect (the location, the landscape, the gardens and swimming pool, the decoration, the attentive and professional service ).
All you an expect from a palace is here.

We have just returned from Don Pepe after a 5 night stay for my 60th birthday. It was fabulous! The staff are professional and friendly. The hotel is immaculate and very comfortable.
There was complimentary wine on arrival and I was delighted to receive a cake and sparkling wine on my birthday, what a surprise, thank you.
The hotel location is fantastic and Marbella is still quite busy for the time of year. Many restaurants and bars are open which is not something you get in many Spanish resorts. I thought it might be a bit flashy for me but it really isn't. The dress code everywhere is very relaxed. I took a couple of skirts for the evening times but didn't wear them as the code seems to be trousers and puffa jackets.
We had a couple of beautiful , warm sunny days, so take layers, I was too hot in a jumper once the sun came out.
We stayed red level which was great for a light lunch, all that was needed after a wonderful breakfast. They served a good selection of drinks, especially the chardonnay
My only recommendation would be to have better lighting on the stairs down to the promenade. As we get older our night vision isn't so great and I found it quite challenging, as did the couple walking in front of us. But, that's the only gripe, everything else was great.
Thanks to everyone there for giving me my best ever birthday.

This iconic hotel in Marbella was a perfect base for two lovely weeks exploring this part of the beautiful Costa del Sol. Assiduously pleasant and accommodating staff, great location on the Paseo maritimo, and so many treats! Cava on ice, flowers, dessert wine and the hotel's own olive oil arrived unexpectedly. We had breakfast included, and went out for other meals. Local restaurants offered reasonably priced paella, seafood and other options, and the after dinner stroll by the sea was an enjoyable part of each day. January means no crowds, and for Canadians, the weather was wonderful. We could be outside most of the day, enjoying our own balcony or seating by the pool. The outdoor pool was cold, although some hardy guests did swim, but there's also a heated indoor pool.

Another wonderful pre-Christmas stay at the Don Pepe in Marbella. Able and Enrique went above and beyond to ensure our visit surpassed our expectations and made our stay so enjoyable and special.
December seems a great time to visit the Don Pepe whilst it might not be sun bathing hot, it is still warm enough to sit outside without a coat in the sunshine with a drink and watch the world go by. You cannot do this in the UK in December. The Christmas decorations at the hotel this year looked splendid. There was even an artificial skating ring in the hotel grounds. It always seems far more relaxed this time of the year compared to high season. A great time to visit.
Our room was bright and airy and offered fantastic views across the Mediterranean to Africa and Gibraltar which are really clear in the winter sunshine. Housekeeping was impeccable with fresh towels twice a day.
Once again thanks to Able and his team. We have already booked for December 2025 and will no doubt also have a Spring or Autumn break at the Don Pepe.

Loved it here. We were lucky enough to be here before the Christmas decorations were taken down and it was an experience in itself.
The staff were so helpful, the situation of the hotel, was excellent, lovely walk from the Boardwalk to old town and elsewhere.
The food here was excellent. So good we eat in, nearly every night.
Room very comfortable, with a spectacular view.
Only thing to note, there are some steps down to beach and boardwalk that would not suit everyone.

Fab location on the beach, great staff and very walkable to Marbella old town but 3 key issues with the hotel

the good: spotlessly clean; super maintainance; in April only 50% full so that was nice; staff really, really great; Marbella great, close to Marbella restaurants; on the beach
the not so good:
1.most annoying: as a 50+ adult I’ve just been told off for walking around the red level lounge barefoot. REALLY? many kids have done the same this week in the very same lounge - not stopped, nothing said
also I've just come from breakfast buffet - where an adult was barefoot the whole time - nothing said
Reason? glass Bottle might break i.e. litigation. ridiculous - the risk sits with me, treat me like an adult, please!
2. allowing smoking outside in the red level lounge horrible - wind blows the smoke through the entire lounge, polluting everyone
3. beds are quite hard - deffo had better beds in other 5 star hotels (although pillos are super!)
4.worst: toddlers. there were loads of toddlers including in the red level lounge. the red level lounge is not like a premium airport lounge i.e. moderate peace and relaxation and no kids.here in the Don Pepe they wander around, screaming and also at breakfast. a lot. not a relaxing experience. next time, for us, adults only to be seriously considered.
p.s. the older kids were totally fine but just a lot of toddlers using the red lounge as a playground
A final note if you are vegetarian - we originally chose half board but after the first night at the main restaurant (NO BUFFET, only a la carte) soon decided the VERY few veggie options and the lack of interest from the waiting staff in discussing veggie options that this WAS NOT going to work. we cancelled half board and walked into town every night. which was fine. if you are veggie / vegan do the same - don't rely on the hotel food for evening meal.

Like many others we found the decor, rooms and grounds very tasteful , immaculately clean ,and a very relaxing place.
Two things stand out. Firstly the staff who without exception were warm , friendly and very helpful. Secondly, the breakfasts which were amazing with huge choice ,a plethora of beautiful fruit ,and delicious omelettes to order.
Location is good for walks to the Old Town and Puerto Banus.
We didn’t stay on Red Level. Given our experience I wouldn’t say it was necessary.
We did however have a sea view room which definitely enhanced our stay.
We would definitely like to return.

This is a five star hotel so you expect high quality accommodation and good levels of service but the Don Pepe exceeds those standards in every possible way. It's location on the sea front within an easy stroll of the centre of Marbella is outstanding. We had a junior suite on the 7th floor which had amazing panoramic views from Marbella to Puerto Buenos with the hotels pristine grounds and pool adding to the view. The suite was excellent well sized beautifully maintained and oozing quality. The rest of the hotel was just as well maintained and beautifully presented with spacious bar, public areas and immaculate grounds. We were part of the red level experience which was a much larger indoor and outdoor facility than at others Melias and again beautifully decorated and well maintained. The level of service provided by the staff was of the highest quality wether in the red level lounge the bars, restaurants or public areas nothing was too much trouble and everyone was friendly and helpful. Lovely touches in the room and by the cleaning team added to the ambiance. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and the staff and hotel made it very special for us and left lovely messages and treats in our room. The food in the restaurants was also outstanding and deserving of the michellin mention it gets. Last but not least we also made use of the Audi experience that is available at the Don Pepe, and other Melia 5 star hotels, certainly worth it we took a spectacular drive through the mountains to Malaga in the luxury Audi e tron. All in all an amazing experience well done everyone at the Don Pepe you made our special occasion even more special.

First class hotel with first class facilities, we had a suite, room 424 that was excellent with an exceptional comfortable bed.
Plenty of seating areas and large balcony, large wardrobes with plenty of storage space.
The hotel is exceptionally clean including around the pool areas with very obliging staff.
