This is an outstanding hotel in a stunning setting. The hotel looks right over the falls and it is well worth paying for a falls view IMHO. The best thing is that when the park closes, as a hotel guest you still have access. So at 5pm onwards and first thing in the morning, you can walk along the falls and be alone. It is an overwhelming experience.
We stayed for 2 nights; the service was impeccable at every stage. We booked our tours and transfers through the hotel and the guide (Edgar) was great.
There are 2 restaurants - the Y is the more fine dining of the two, the other is more buffet style and best for families/kids.
Great breakfast too.
The rooms are good, not OTT, but very comfortable and also quiet.
A lovely pool and outdoor space.
Loved it!

Without doubt, one of the most exceptional hotels I’ve ever stayed in. From the personal welcome - seated, with welcome drinks and chilled towels - to the fact that our room was ready well before check-in time because they knew we’d had a long flight - to the attention to every detail while we were there, this is a place that does customer service to a standard rarely seen anywhere these days.
The hotel is like a massive house, and truly feels cosy. The room was acrually fairly basic but done in such a way that very comfortable was taken care of. Luxurious toiletries, a free mini-bar, a bed you struggle to leave because it’s so comfortable, a proper bath with a powerful shower, and so much more.
The poo is a highlight, the Y Restaurant is exceptional, the bar is beautiful to look at and the drinks are excellent. It an absolute stand out is the location, with the Falls on your doorstep. The hotel arranges a roast to the sunset at 6.30pm, with a glass of fizz for guests to sip while watching the sun drop behind the water. A truly unforgettable experience.

We came to Iguassu as the last destination of our journey to Brazil and stayed at Belmond hotel - it was amazing experience to stay inside the National Park with the possibility to admire the falls free of tourists before or after the opening hours. Built in Portuguese hazienda style with walls painted in faded pink color, hotel is nicely incorporated in Mata Atlantica, Atlantic forest. Dining experience was wonderful - one should definitely try their degustation dinner at Itaipu restaurant.
Visiting Argentinian side of the falls. Neither Visa nor MasterCard worked to pay for the entry tickets to the National Park on the Argentinian side and exchange office was still closed when we arrived. So, it was a good idea book a private tour - air conditioned car and bottles with cold water were very helpful and the guide, asked by concierge beforehand, had Argentinian pesos. Our stay and services, provided by the hotel left the best impressions.

We (@wolfestreettravel on Instagram and wolfestreettravel.com) stayed at Hotel das Cataratas for two nights during a month-long trip through South America. Definitely a perfect location to experience Iguazu Falls and also the perfect amount of time, we think. The hotel truly is a short stroll away from the falls and the path on the Brazil side of the falls / river that leads up river to multiple cataracts, which were incredible. Although the hotel itself was very nice, and we would stay there again if we were to return to the falls, it also was pretty old school and not the nicest Belmond of the collection, in our view. We would offer the same review of the dining - very nice, but not five-star rating nice. The bar was great, however, and the pool very spacious with plenty of loungers, which was great.

I don't normally splurge on a hotel like this, but it was so worth it! The hotel is lovely and the access to the falls cannot be beat. We enjoyed strolling along the falls path in the early evening and then again in the morning before the crowds arrived. Meals were good in the restaurants but the highlight was the Moon walk tour. If you are lucky enough to be staying during a full moon, do not miss the opportunity to do this.

Wow this has to be a serious contender for one of the best hotels set in such a stunning location.
We had a great morning visiting the Argentina side of the Iguazú waterfalls and then once we had done all the walks and the boat tour we got a taxi to the Belmond.
It’s located in the Brazilian side of Iguazu and has stunning views of the falls it’s like a theatre spectacle which completes your trip to Iguazu so you see it from both sides.
The room and bathroom was lovely with very elegant decoration.
We had a tasting menu in the Y restaurant - 12 courses with wine pairing it was delightful. We were very fortunate that we were there at a full moon so could access the falls in order to see the Lunar rainbow it was very spectacular and extremely rare. The next morning at sunrise we had another falls visit again this was a great experience as you see the sunlight lighting up the falls. This was only possible as we were staying in the hotel in the park.
We then went for Breakfast which was stunning complete with champagne it was honestly among the most memorable breakfasts I’ve ever had.
We then had a rest and made use of the spa and swimming pools before heading to our next adventure.

When you think of Belmond you think of luxury but our experience at this location left a lot to be desired and has unfortunately forced us to rethink our future bookings at this location and even other Belmond properties. The lack of any follow up from Guest Relations and Front Desk Management for over a week is alarming for such a brand. I will start with some positives and then go into negatives which unfortunately marred our overall experience and left a not so great impression for our birthday focused visit to this property.
Positives:
This goes without saying but there is no better location for access to the Iguazu falls than this hotel. The exclusive and direct access to the falls without crowds is the biggest selling point and if that is the most important factor then you do not need to look further. The overall food was another positive overall especially during the breakfast buffet where you have plenty of options to choose from. The dinner buffet was good as well so no issues there.
Negatives:
Our major issues started when we had some type of a rodent in our room in the night. We woke up with some noises constantly nibbling into a plastic box and what we saw was that probably a rodent had gotten in to our box of food on the table. We called the front desk at around 3am and they sent a couple of folks who looked around but found nothing. The crumbs of the plastic box that rodent chewed into and food crumbs were still on the table in the room. We understand that we are in a forest so its not uncommon that there will be animals but the attitude of staff blatantly suggesting that it can't be rodents when we showed them the plastic box pieces and food crumbs was very disappointing.
Next day during the checkout, we noticed a clear lack of coordination between the front desk and person at park entrance for taxi arrangements. We were told by hotel concierge a day before checkout that we can just tell the check in desk for taxi at the time of checkout and taxi will be waiting for us by the time shuttle reaches the park entrance. We waited for at least 15-20 minutes for a taxi after the shuttle dropped us off. To make matters worse the other guests were just hogging the taxi that arrived without any intervention by the person responsible at park entrance. When we raised this issue with the Belmond assistance at park entrance his response was that he can call check in and we can talk to them. This was unexpected and unwarranted response while we are still waiting for a taxi. We could have made our own arrangements but the concierge gave us the impression that the transfer was seamless which it was clearly not. We shared all these details with Guest Relations Manager who reached out to us on WhatsApp and were promised that Front Desk Manager will reach out to us but it has been over a week and we are yet to hear anything from anyone on these issues. This lack of coordination, miscommunication and complete lack of respect for hotel guests was very disappointing. Considering these issues and the rodent issue we will seriously be reconsidering our future travel plans at this and other Belmond properties.
