A luxurious boutique property with fantastic facilities and a million dollar view of scenic Bonifacio France. This is Easily a 5-star property with spacious villa suites, a great pool and bar area and modern conveniences, yet why only 3-stars you ask?
Being a seasonal property (they close at the end of October) means they have a young, inexperienced staff which is readily apparent from the first moment you arrive. They just aren’t skilled in dealing with they type of people who are paying 500€ per night for a hotel room.
Secondly the food and beverage service is sub-par. While there was a breakfast buffet included in our rate the food options while varied were institutional and hum drum; far below expectations for a luxurious French resort. Also the food available at the bar was disappointing. We ordered a charcuterie platter and also a bruschetta board to accompany some wine instead of taking another 25€ taxi trip (each way) into town for dinner. The meat looked like leftovers from breakfast with an off color. The bruschetta was essentially toast with some cherry tomatoes and herbs. It was dry and flavorless-such a missed opportunity both to enhance revenue and to reinforce the luxury brand they want to cultivate.
Bottom line-if you have a car and don’t mind dealing with the extreme parking challenges in Bonifacio , the food issues might not matter. In which case the property itself is a beautiful oasis of calm and peace.
Tips based on our experiences: But don’t ask them to do laundry as you won’t necessarily get it back the same day as the only person able to do it leaves at 3. Also don’t arrive before 4 as your room likely won’t be ready despite the emails they send asking for your arrival time, and there’s really no place to hang out unless it’s nice enough to get in the pool.
Sorry Cala di Greco, you have so much unrealized potential….

I strongly recommend this resort, everything was perfect and above expectation: the place, the atmosphere, the cure for details, the service, the cleaning, the forniture, the bed, the style, the breakfast, the pool restaurant, the pools, etc. Really, everything! I also highly appreciated the service provided by the reception which recommended, before our arrival and according to our preferences, which activities, beaches and restaurants could be best for us.
I strongly recommend Cala di Greco if you are looking for a wonderful, relaxing, isolated and exclusive place to stay in the south of Corsica.
Thank you to the whole team!

A very nice hotel overlooking Bonifacio. Very friendly staff, and a comfortable room. Nice breakfast and two pools. The walk into town is a bit challenging and requires trainers and a degree of fitness, especially on the way back in the dark.

JUST GO!! Everything about the Il Greco is superb. When you first arrive on the stunning grounds, you immediately smell the jasmine and notice all the colorful flowers and olive trees. Then you enter the hotel lobby and you know you are in for a treat! The staff is just wonderful and even the lovely owners of the hotel greet you--THANK YOU TO EVERYONE!
The hotel lobby is open and airy and the pool area is out of a movie. I usually do not care about a "pool", but it was the position of this gorgeous pool overlooking the view of the stunning town of Bonifacio in the distance that made you feel like you were in a dream. Bonifacio is a gorgeous town to explore so spend some time there! And the nearby beaches are turquoise and wonderful.
The room was fantastic with greatl natural light! Big, clean, and bonus local bath products too! We had a room with an outdoor patio and it was wonderful to sit out there and relax each morning and night--although you can sit around the hotel pool area too which again is stunning.
The BREAKFAST WAS OUTSTANDING. So many local products---delicious jams, breads, charcuterie, fruits, farm fresh eggs to order any style you want, and two different homemade cakes each day--thank you to the lovely people who spoiled us with them!
Finally, even though the hotel does not serve dinner you can get some wonderful charcuterie and appetizers with fabulous wine--which basically is like eating a light dinner. Make sure to book the jacuzzi too. We so would go back tomorrow if we could!

Gorgeous family run bed and breakfast hotel in a rustic setting. We stayed here for 11 nights in a 30sq meter room. It was very quiet with a small front garden accessed by a private gate before you get to the room door and a back patio with a small flower garden beyond. The room was very clean and comfortable with a large bathroom. TV English channels were limited to Bloomberg and CNBC which was disappointing.
Hotel staff were charming and very helpful. Set in a hill above Bonifacio it has great views from the 2 pools and the breakfast room of old Bonifacio. Breakfast was adequate with a variety of fruits, eggs, various breads, cakes, yoghurts, croissants, cold meats and cheese. Fresh squeezed orange or omelette on request. A different cheese choice would have been good as there was only one type throughout the stay. You can order drinks and limited snacks during the day.
Having 2 pools meant one was usually quiet which we liked and big enough to have a decent swim.
You need a car to get around from here. There is a path you can walk down to get to the town - 20-25 minute slow walk, wear walking shoes as it is rough stones. Otherwise a 10 minute drive to a car park although traffic can be bad during the day in high season. There is Tonnara sandy beach 10 minutes in the opposite direction. There are two beachfront restaurants there which are worth a visit.

Make Hotel Cala di Greco your home in Bonifacio, Corsica

“We put into that port, so well-known amongst sailors: where sheer double cliffs, with no gaps, encircle the harbor and two headlands squeeze the narrow entrance in their grasp.” “Homer, “Odyssey,” Chapter X.
During all our days of driving along the Corsican “carousel” that we developed trying not miss any of the main sites, we were falling deeper and deeper in love with the raw beauty of this island. But we left our hearts in Bonifacio. This stunning city presides over the most beautiful harbor in Corsica, arguably admired by Homer and described in his “Odyssey.” Was Homer the first Bonifacio tourist? Homer or not, Bonifacio is simply breathtaking. Spreading over the top of limestone cliffs, the city owes its jaw-dropping magnificence to the medieval fortress and upper town houses that look toward Sardinia on one side and over its picture-perfect harbor on the other.
According to historical records, Bonifacio as a city was born in 828 CE, when Marquis of Tuscany, named Bonifacio, was passing by that location returning from his African expedition. He decided to develop a fortified harbor town there and for almost three centuries the Pisans ruled the city. The Genoese came at the end of the 1100s and built their impressive fortress overlooking the sea. Whether the rulers were from Pisa or Genoa, the city lived by the two main industries: fishing and piracy. Even though by the end of the 1790s, Bonifacio, just like the rest of the island, fell under the French rule, it still feels more Italian than French, and is definitely different from the rest of Corsica.
For our first trip to Bonifacio we chose hotel Cala di Greco as our home. Less than 10 minutes driving from Marina will bring you into a diffirent world, but you really need to know how and where to look for it. Old stone walls and massive wooden gates have no sign and seem to belong to a medieval mansion. Inside the gates, a primeval Corsican landscape with a rusty fishing boat under the tree reminds you that this world is surrounded by the sea. Be prepared for a stark contrast, for soon the landscape of scrubs will change into a group of villas, each behind its white wall, each within its own secluded world, complete with an enclosed courtyard, a patio, and a terrace. The hotel defines elegance and refinement: we had a junior suite, tasteful, spacious and comfortable. Our bedroom opened into a small terrace where we liked to drink Corsican Rose with terrific cheese from a local farm. I think I can still feel the taste of both in my mouth.
The hotel’s pools are heated to almost 80 deg. F and are exceptionally beautiful. We especially liked the infinity pool with its breathtaking view of the city across the bay. That was a great location to enjoy the hotel’s wonderful breakfast. But we loved most to spend our late evenings there, breathing the sea air and absorbing the magical beauty in front of us as the sun was disappearing behind the horizon.
The entire staff was highly professional, attentive, and knowledgeable. We will recommend this hotel to all our friends and followers who might consider coming to Bonifacio.

They have thought of every last detail at this beautiful hotel and we had an amazing stay. The reception staff are extremely friendly and helpful (and speak English), also the maids and the gardeners we met too.
The breakfast is a must - we went to bed looking forward to the breakfast! Nicole's homemade cakes put a few pounds on but that didn't stop us eating them every morning.
The Infinity pool is exquisite, as is the surrounding pool area. All of the gardens are well kept and the rooms are extremely clean.
Having read previous reviews there seems to be some negative comments about the walk into town and I don't know why - it's a doddle! and only takes 10 minutes - easy peasy. If you're very, very unfit, or very unsteady on your feet or wearing heels then I can see how the walk down the slightly rocky path may cause you concern but otherwise it's a clear, stone path down to the harbour.
If you want to walk back up the path after dark then take a head torch like we did (or use the torch on your phone)
We ate a large lunch in town most days and then if need be had a charcuterie platter to share or some carpaccio back at the hotel later if we felt it was needed.
Food in the harbour and the town is very expensive for what you get so choose your restaurants carefully.

My partner and I decided to book this hotel to treat ourselves to some 'luxury' for the last couple of nights of our stay in Corsica, having completed an 8 day hike in the Mountains. It was soon apparent that the hefty price we were paying per night (almost 400 euros) was for the view overlooking the infinity pool to Bonifacio and not much else. The room was reasonable and spacious but not particularly special and had no view, breakfast was disappointingly un-included and we could not bring ourselves to pay 16 euros each for a limited selection of pastries. The room had a kettle and a small selection of teas (one English tea bag) but no milk and when I asked for some milk at reception we were then charged 2 euros for the pleasure! For the amount we were paying, you would expect 5* star service and fantastic facilities and to feel you were being treated rather than ripped off. We left this hotel with a poor taste in our mouths, feeling very disappointed that we had spent a lot of money on a sub par experience.

A great find in southern Corsica. We stayed 4 nights out of our 10 day driving trip around Corsica. The location is stunning. About the perfect distance from Bonifacio to give you easy access but also be very quiet and serene. The property is very well taken care of. The hotel is rated 4 star but the staff is 5 star all the way. From the lady at check in who wisks you away in a golf cart to see your room. To the manager who greets you every morning. Their attention to detail was the best. Also at check in I mentioned it was our anniversary that day and we came back one evening to a large free bottle of champagne as a gift. Thanks so much for the gift. This is a perfect place to use as a base to explore southern Corsica either by car or using the walking trail near the hotel to find some beautiful beaches and coves. I highly recommend this hotel and plan to return in the future.

The rooms are really lovely and this hotel would make an excellent base for exploring southern corsica. Couldn’t fault the rooms - spacious, modern and bright with great beds and showers. The landscaping around the property is magnificent and the pool and views gorgeous. It is a long way outside Bonifacio and there is no restaurant at the hotel so you will have to (and should) go into town for dinner which means either driving or walking as there are no taxis to speak of. Some of our group did get a taxi back from town (organised through the restaurant) and it cost them E50 for the 2km ride (but it was Bastille day). We enjoyed the walk both days (20 mins to the port and lower town, much more if you want upper town) but there’s plenty of places in the lower town for dinner eg L’An faim or quatre vents. The walk is best suited to the slightly intrepid traveller - it is a rocky bush path and although the hotel staff advised against it we found it perfectly doable in the dark with iPhone torches and sensible shoes. Check in was slightly chaotic - leave your bags in the car when you arrive at reception because you’ll be driving to your room. If I had any criticisms it would be that the outside furniture was uncomfortable and ..as always it seems... no conditioner! I would return though as this is a lovely hotel and Bonifacio a spectacular setting. Beware the overpriced restaurants like La Caravelle catering to the rich yachties!

The rooms at this hotel are more private villas than typical hotel rooms. They include a front gate, behind which there is a front courtyard and another courtyard at the rear with shade, seating and a low table. The more expensive rooms have a private plunge pool. The rooms are minimalist, well designed and comfortable.
There is a choice of 2 outdoor heated pools. One is close to the main pavilion and the hotel reception and has amazing views of nearby Bonifacio across the valley.
The staff are professional, courteous and knowledgeable. Their restaurant recommendations were all very good.
The hotel is 5 to 10 minutes drive from Bonifacio, which is busy and bustling during the high season. It’s good to be out of the fray but it is a lovely little holiday port town with many restaurant choices.
Cala Di Greco does not have a restaurant. Its food offerings are limited to a good buffet breakfast and a few snack-like dishes eg charcuterie and cheese plates. Similarly, if you like to have endless drinks and cocktails served to you while you lounge around the pool, this is not the place for you.
We really enjoyed the low key and tranquil ambiance of this hotel.

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights while visiting Bonafacio and the surrounding area. The staff and owners are welcoming and hospitable- they make you feel like you are part of their family. The hotel accommodations are fabulous and the view of the old town center is extraordinary. This hotel is located on the hillside opposite the old town which is a great location because it is more quiet and provides a more relaxing experience than the busy area in the port or old city. We walked each day, on a nice hiking path, into the old town to explore, shop, take boat excursions and hike the trails. I would stay here again and highly recommend it to all.

Decided to stay at Cala di Greco after extensive research on the web. We were debating staying more in the port/marina but our choice was perfect. View is unbelievable, our room had enough space and a beautiful terrasse with great furniture to enjoy the surroundings. A path through the woods get you in the port in 20 minutes. Need running shoes though. The windows all had electric blind shutters and curtains, making it pitch dark in the morning. The reception area pool is just breathtaking, reception staff more than friendly and helpful. Close to our room there was a second pool with a great patio. The back and forth between the hotel and the port was not an issue for us.

You can walk into town down a rocky path but it's a slog coming vac. To go out to dinner, you need to drive, and find a parking spot in one of several paid car parks. That was easy in June but may be more difficult in August.
All the staff are friendly but our check-in was a bit slow, and we had to ask again to remind them we were still waiting.
It is definitely a place to treat yourself, a romantic place and unforgettable.
