Stayed for 2 nights during a recent trip to Rome. The staff are all lovely and were extremely helpful before and during our visit.
The Hotel is looking onto Pantheon and benefits from great eateries surrounding it. Very central location for sight seeing. We walked to Vatican city/Colosseum from the hotel. There is a smart phone provided for use during your stay, which we used to navigate our way around. This enabled us to save our own phone for photographs without draining the battery on google maps. Brilliant addition to our stay.
Our room 305 was a corner junior suite with dual aspect Pantheon views. Very comfortable bed and pillows. There are very nice toiletries provided and the shower has good pressure. There was a mini fridge with a selection of drinks/snacks all reasonably priced.
Breakfast was great with a good choice and I must say the scrambled eggs were so good that I had them both days!
If we returned to Rome in the future Hotel Abruzzi would definitely be our choice of accommodation

One of the best located hotels in Rome with direct, close views of the Pantheon. This is about as centrally located as you can be in Rome .
From the moment of our arrival the staff are amongst the most friendly and helpful that I have experienced. We were checked in by the most wonderful receptionist Antonio , he couldn't have been more pleasant and super helpful. I want to pay special compliments to him - thank you once again Antonio and also to Ciro.
My husband and I were celebrating our 24th wedding anniversary and my husband’s birthday and I mentioned this when booking our stay. As a result, we were upgraded to a suite! It was fabulous. But it didn't stop there. We were presented with a bottle of prosecco and a card. We were completely overwhelmed. Our bed was extremely comfortable and the view from our room was spectacular . The room was spotless and well maintained.
We had a very special time in Rome that we'll never forget.
I loved staying here and would recommend it without hesitation.

Due to a vehicle breakdown we had to return to Rome to sort it out. This was a last minute booing at a good rate, breakfast included. Rooms are modern and the whole place is very clean. View of the Pantheon and although the square can be quite noisy the glazing is good. Can’t praise the staff enough, they helped us by translating and trying to find a garage to help, brilliant customer service. Would visit again and thoroughly recommend.

September 2024 - Third stay in 8 years and it never disappoints – we returned for a reason: we had an excellent first stay, the location and the view cannot be beat, the room (junior suite top floor, corner room) was perfect, and the staff fantastic.
It is currently ranked in the top 10% of all hotels in Rome – and, in our opinion, it has definitely earned its place.
It is a boutique hotel that is clean, bright, and modern (recently(ish) renovated), and, being centrally located, is within walking distance of everything. The bed is comfortable, and the bathroom is beautiful and spacious.
For a 3-star hotel, it is on the expensive side, but for us the room, service, location and view make it worth its price.
Note that there is no restaurant or bar/lounge on site … but the moment you step into Piazza della Rotonda you’ll have everything you need. Which brings us to the only opportunity for improvement we will note – breakfast is supposed to be included in the stay at a café in the square, however we did not take partake as it was not offered to us. That said, we were very happy to stop in at the famous La Casa del Caffe Tazza d’Oro for our morning coffee and croissant – just one minute away on foot!
This hotel is not for anyone with mobility challenges as access to the lift is on the second floor, and the stairs are quite steep and winding.
For our full review please see our previous post “The Icing on the Cake” which described our stay in 2016 and was a “hotel favourite” for some time.
Many thanks to Valentina, Manuel, Antonio, and Simone for another amazing stay.
Highly recommend.

Our favorite place to stay in Rome!
Our fourth time back to this great little boutique hotel! Magnificent views, fantastic neighborhood with lots of stores/restaurants, and best of all a GREAT staff. Very easy to walk around most of Rome's hotspots from this central location...

We stayed here one night and it’s a nice hotel with a cheerful staff. The room was great. Spacious and clean. We got a Pantheon view room which had 2 small windows with shutters. To see the Pantheon you had to open the window and release the shutters. But once open the view was magnificent. The only issue I had was the crowd around the hotel. Yes I know if you book a hotel next to the Pantheon there are going to be crowds. But it never stops. Not the hotels fault but we were continually woken up during the night by trucks driving by, garbage being picked up by garbage trucks and people screaming. Even some weird bird noise that I’m not sure what it was. Would I stay there again. Yes but I wouldn’t get a Pantheon view room and I’d bring my ear plugs.

Great stay at Hotel Abruzzi
Very nice hotel. The staff was exceptional and very helpful in making transportation arrangements. Manuel exceeded our expectations. Breakfast was included at a nice cafe very close. The location by the Pantheon was amazing. We booked a room that we could see the Pantheon out of our window.
Excellent Location, Very Rome-style Hotel

You can’t be any closer to the Pantheon than Hotel Abruzzi, it’s right in the square. My favorite time of day was early morning, when I could look at this amazing feat of engineering with no crowds and just a few birds circling the dome. It’s magic then. Once the crowds arrive, it’s Rome chaos at its finest, so if you find the crowds in Rome daunting, I’d recommend you stay in a different part of the city. I’m impressed by whatever Hotel Abruzzi has done to soundproof the rooms, because once inside, the noise of the crowd disappears, other than a few stray shouts of evening revellers.
We stayed in the Annex, which does not offer any views. You access the annex through a rather plain looking door, walk up the stairs to rooms, like staying in your own apartment. The hallway lights as you go. We stayed in Room 3 which was spacious, squeaky clean and very comfortable. There was no lift, which was fine for us as we try to take stairs often anyway, keeps those knees in shape! The valet takes the luggage to and from the room for you as well. The shower stalls are small but that is typical of Rome boutique hotels, space is limited, they do a good job of getting everything in there. I really appreciated all of the counter space in our bathroom. The bed was comfortable, I thought the pillows were hard. There was plenty of close space which is rare here, an unexpected surprise.
Every morning we’d pick up our breakfast voucher and walk around the corner to the cafe. The waiter was brusque but efficient. The offerings were ok, if breakfast wasn’t included I’d be happy to check out the numerous cafes in the area. I’d prefer that actually.
We found all of the staff to be very helpful and friendly. They arranged transfer for us from the airport which was excellent.
In terms of value, we found Hotel Abruzzi to be a great fit for our goals: to be in the heart of Rome, in a comfortable accommodation for less than $500 per night. Make no mistake, this is not a luxury 4 or 5 star hotel, so if you want that experience, there are some in the area but they come at a cost.

My fault. It fell for the rhetoric on their website. NOT comfortable. Bedroom tiny, minimal though clean, all white. Reception is a tiny closet and the lift is not working. Reception indifferent to anything like concierge requests. Towels rather thin, bed rock hard. This is not a hotel you want to do anything but sleep in. That said, it’s quiet, with good glass noise shut off windows to help you forget the crowds below. And it’s in the middle of things, by the Pantheon. Be careful: low prices are for the ANNEX. We paid over $500/night for a view of the Pantheon.

The reason for the three stars and not fewer is the lovely staff. Everyone was friendly, professional, and responsive.
I stayed at this hotel 30+ years ago when it was more like a hostel with tiny rooms and shared bathrooms. That was perfect for my budget back then. Based on the photos and reviews, I assumed they'd done a total makeover. But other than the high prices and in-room bathrooms, not a lot has changed.
There must be quite a bit of variability in room sizes based on others' reviews. If you stay, be sure you ask about the size of the room you'll be getting, because the bed could take up virtually all of the space, leaving almost no room for even a suitcase.
Beds and pillows are uncomfortably hard. Furniture and finishes are pretty spartan. Also, the elevator is getting a complete overhaul - not a quick fix. Be sure to ask, and if it's not operational when you book, I'd consider looking elsewhere. We only found out there was no elevator a week before, too late to change hotels. Bummer to climb 3 flights of stairs every time we went to our room.
The windows are surprisingly sound proof, which is terrific. But if you want fresh air, forget it, the square below is a din of noise from 9am to late into the night. The crowds fill the entire square. Next time I'd select a hotel that was on a side street and not on the square itself.
As another reviewer mentioned, the breakfast is off property at a nearby cafe. We liked the food and staff there, but it was a drag to have to leave the hotel, especially as it was pouring rain two of the mornings.

Great small hotel on the edge of the Piazza della Rotonda, so the location is very central to all the main sites. Our room was a good size and spotless. It had a king size bed in the main bedroom then a small lounge off it as well as a separate shower room. From the window you can see the beautiful Pantheon. Lots of people in the square but surprisingly quiet. Good restaurants nearby so no long walks back to the hotel in the evening! We would definitely stay here again. Thank you to the staff for a lovely stay.

This is a lovely hotel and without a doubt the cleanest hotel I have ever stayed at. It was immaculate!
The view is incredible, and the location is perfect for Rome. You are in the middle of everything with a stunning view of the Pantheon, it’s as good by night as by day.
The bed is comfortable and the hotel has excellent attention to detail and offerings - wine or water when you arrive, a concierge to help with moving belongings etc. there is also an Italian phone you can use during your stay, this makes life a lot easier and you don’t need to chase WiFi/signal.
The breakfast is fine (although the coffee was excellent) - you leave the hotel and go to a cafe round the corner with a voucher. You can have fruit/cornflakes/toast etc. a couple of things… they did forget to bring parts of our order a couple of times, we were rushing so didn’t chase to be fair, also the water in the toilets was never on when we were there to wash hands, also the eggs were very runny - to taste some days but not eatable for me one day. This might be fine for some but I guess I can gripe.
I rate this 5 stars but there are a few things that aren’t 5 star… despite the cleanliness bits of the room were a bit in need of repair - damage so to speak. Also, there was no lift when we stayed, not the end of the world but a bit annoying as the place isn’t cheap (hopefully walking 4 flights of stairs twice a day helps counteract the gelato)…
All in all though we were delighted with our time here and are just reviewing honestly. It isn’t perfect but the room was spacious, impeccably clean and with an amazing view right in the middle of Rome surrounded by food, drink, music and activities, so it doesn’t get much better really!

Nice hotel in a central location to walk to most everywhere you would want to visit as a tourist. We stayed in a nice newly refurbished junior suite. The included breakfasts were at a restaurant a short block away. They were very good. One bit of warning; the lowest level of the elevator is one flight up from the lobby. That wasn't a problem for us, but it may be for someone who won't/can't walk up a flight of stairs.

We had a lovely time during our stay. HIGHLIGHT The view of the Pantheon from the room is magnificent. The Albergo Abruzzi is at walking distance from all the monuments and places you would like to see, the room we had was spacious and comfortable. The breakfast was included and is in a restaurant nearby with an excellent food and service. The front desk staff were friendly, knowledgeable and attentive, welcome us with a bottle of Prosecco in the room and some biscuits. The free phone helped to get around with google. I definitely will go again and recommend it to my friends and family.

Good location in center of Rome, with view of Pantheon. Within walking distance to Historic Roman forum, Trevi fountain and many other sites
Rome is somewhat chaotic, but the hotel staff customer service was top notch. Fantastic, personal service rarely found nowadays.
OK, But wouldn't do it again

I don't think I would revisit this hotel. The location is central and incredibly convenient (provided you want the crowds in the piazza in front of the Pantheon). And, our room had an amazing view of the Pantheon. But, the hotel was somewhat disappointing. No mention that you have to climb a flight of stairs before the elevator is available (so not accessible for those with limited mobility). The hallway outside of our room smelled like smoke and/or mildew. The elevator was one of the slowest and scariest I've encountered in many travels. The shower was tiny and didn't drain properly. The staff were kind, though, and on the day before our departure they gave us an early breakfast to take away for our early morning flight.

Perfect Location, charming boutique hotel with personal knowledgeable staff
Beautifully renovated and tastefully decorated hotel in a perfect location for sightseeing by foot and finding nearby restaurants. The staff were courteous and helpful. The rooms were beautifully cleaned and made up each day. A good value in Rome
