One of the best beach front hotel on the east side of Kauai , Lydgate beach / state park , a favorite spot for kids and family with enclosed rock pond , playground and walking path within half a mile from the hotel . The hotel itself need some updates for the rooms and specially the old style door lock ( NO SAFE IN THE ROOM ) . There are plenty of food options in the area and Coconut Marketplace less than two miles away . I like to thx Cina , Amy and Bree for all the extra help during our stay .

It’s actually a very nice hotel

I was concerned after reading some of the recent reviews but can honestly say we had a great time. We usually stay at HGV properties but was booked. Sure the hotel could use a few updates (mainly new carpet in the hallways and paint/scuff mark/wear & tear kind of things). But our ocean-front room was clean, very quiet and spacious. (We stayed in the hotel not the villas) The food was excellent. Many spots to enjoy the pool and spectacular views. A quick walk across the lawn and you’re on the beach. And above all - a VERY friendly and helpful staff. Team couldn’t be more kind and resourceful from front desk to servers to the especially kind housekeeping staff. Our housekeeper was Nita and she greeted us each day with a sweet Aloha and helped with each request. We never had an issue with parking in the lot, but it did fill up in the evening. We were busy and didn’t book the onsite Fire Show. Ukulele and lei making classes looked popular. Restaurants onsite. Great central location with MANY nearby restaurants. Tip the rooms don’t have lanais but if you stay on the main floor you do have sliding glass doors and two patio chairs. We preferred to be up for a better view. We are picky so I wouldn’t give a positive review if it wasn’t true!

How is this a Hilton stay? I’m confused. The staff were not warm or welcoming. The halls and rooms were dark and MUSTY (I’m not joking it felt like a bad sauna). The bedding was rough and not comforting (sandpaper like). And the night before we leave we have to spend three hours doing our laundry because the washing machines provided by Hilton would fill up with water and not wash (it did this several times). The dryer was very poor and it took well over an hour for our clothes to become damp enough to hang. On top of all this the resort fees and parking make this place overpriced and expensive for a bad motel stay with a fancy name.

The staff were all wonderful. They should be complimented!! The property needs to be totally rebuilt from the ground up. It's so old and tired and the redone bathrooms just isn't enough. Dark musty hallways lead you to dark musty rooms. Patio doors can't be opened. Coffee in the lobby is whisked away precisely at 10 AM. Pools (yes there are 2 very small very old) have just a few chairs but a couple of couch sets which seems odd. The grounds are nice around the lobby but around the buildings sad grass does not invite you to hang around at all. The park land at the ocean is very busy and includes a lot of old hippies camping out. At 9:15, the maids were knocking incessantly on the door wanting to clean. When we refused they made us commit to being gone in 60 minutes. What? Breakfast was good but closed at 10 am precisely. It is closed most days except for special dinners Tues and Fri. Except not this Friday, just Tuesday...The poolside restaurant has good Hawaiian food but limited menu. Nice live music. You need a car. The hotel is positioned alone on the wrong side of the bridge to town which doesn't allow pedestrians. So you have to UBER it to get anywhere, to anything. Keep looking rather than booking this one. We wish we had. Let me say again, Bree and the other people on the front desk were outstanding!

This place very outdated. First room had no air conditioning ducts in the bedroom area. We were moved to an even older handicapped room. Guess it could be good for families but not my choice. VERY DISAPPOINTING. HAD I known it was this archaic when I booked, I would have chosen another place. Unfortunately, there’s nowhere else to go. It’s season. So will make the best of it. If you like anything post 1960… book elsewhere.

If it wasn’t for the location I would give 0 stars. When we checked in we were given a room infested with cockroaches. Absolutely disgusting. I went to let them know at the front desk and at first they acted like it wasn’t an issue and said they’d have the room “deep cleaned”. It wasn’t until I came back to the front desk with a dead cockroach I killed from inside the room when they finally decided to move us rooms. They also charged for maid service every day even thought the maids only cleaned our room 3 times in an 8 day stay. Also they don’t tell you this but they charge $25 a night for parking and there is very limited parking on premises and no other options to park for free nearby. There was a night when some of the people staying there were parking on the lawn under the trees because there was no other parking options. Also they ran multiple payments on our card without a clear heads up or what the charges were actually for. At the time of check out they had over $800 on hold for our credit card which is absolutely insane for a security deposit especially for a hotel infested with cockroaches. We are very disappointed and this is not the quality we associate with the Hilton brand…

Nice clean hotel with friendly staff and great location to see all the island has to offer. Celebrated our 35 anniversary and diamond members we were upgraded to an ocean view king room. It was fairly small but did have a window we could open to enjoy the fresh air. As others have mentioned we received $20 credit each day to spend wherever we wanted which was mostly at the tiki bar overlooking the ocean each evening. Location is perfect as it is next to a beach park for swimming, snorkeling and walking trail goes up and down the beach. They charge $25 per day to park but they have a generous parking area reserved for diamond members right next to most of the rooms. We loved the free coffee in the lobby as well. This hotel makes island experience easy by providing a cooler and fresh towels you can check out. The ice maker was on our floor as well as filtered water dispenser. Everything you need to explore the island was provided except the car. We loaded our cooler and grabbed snacks each morning and headed to a different beach or waterfall hike or Mountain View. My wife and I really enjoyed our stay and were always greeted with a smile from every staff member. Tip would be head out early before 7 to beat the traffic. Also several nice restaurants close by to check out. BV bourbon and ale house was our favorite but lemongrass grill seafood had great fresh fish dinner as well. Make sure to plan a day to explore Waimea canyon state park. Aloha

We stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn Kauai Wailua Bay for the last few days of our multi-island honeymoon trip. After checking in and making our way to our room, we were surprised to find a card, bottle of sparkling wine on ice, and chocolate covered strawberries for us. We popped the cork, poured a couple glasses, and headed out to our lanai to enjoy a drink and our strawberries. We had the perfect view of the ocean as we enjoyed our gift. Mamahune's Tiki Bar was maybe 100 feet from our lanai and we enjoyed a nice dinner there the following night. Our room and bathroom were clean, the bed was comfortable, the staff was helpful and friendly, and the hotel was in a great location to easily catch an Uber or Lyft to anyplace you wanted to go. We even got a chance to feed the koi in the pond one evening. This was a perfect place to spend a few relaxing days at the end of our trip.

This review is not so much about the hotel but more on the administrative side specifically RESERVATIONS. We booked a room here since May 2024. Our stay was booked Oct 21 to 25, 2024. We booked with a live person and not on line. Long story short, when we arrived we were told our reservation was cancelled. Shock and upset, we called the reservation and we were told that I did not confirm our reservation (which was already partially paid). It didn’t make sense to me why I have to confirm a CONFIRMATION. Plus the fact that if they did cancel it, why didn’t they send me a CANCELLATION NOTICE? That should be the right thing to do. Or leave me a message that if I don’t confirm that my reservation will be canceled. They did try to accommodate us by offering us to stay in KONA. I asked if they can pay for our flight and of course, they are not going to do that. The first representative ended up hanging up or disconnecting our call and we called again and spoke with another representative. After telling her our issue, there was no accommodation she could offer us. She did extend the reservation to be available for use til next year, DEC , 2025. Needless to say, we were STUCK in KAUAI with no place to stay and this is at 3 pm, Hawaii time.

First let me state the front desk staff, and restaurant staff were exceptional. The room was another story cockroaches, centipedes and musty old carpeting. After one night, we spoke with front desk who told us we couldn’t be moved as the hotel was over booked. We had used Hilton points and were told points would be refunded. Points can normally be refunded in a relative short time. The story changed with the hotel each time we made contact. “No problem we’ve submitted points” “It takes 30 days” “It takes 30 business days” On the fourth call to the Hilton Diamond line (no fault of Hilton Diamond staff) we received our points in mid October within minutes. They say (or hear they might be) doing some improvements later this year… Be weary.
