Tucked into tunnel mountain is the Hidden Ridge Resort, surrounded by the beauty of Banff and just a few minutes’ walk or shuttle to downtown. Hike, bike, dine or just soak in at the hot pools while you keep your love burning in this hideaway in the hills…a honeymoon in Canada is perfect when you spend it in Banff. The incredible location, proximity to great couples’ activities and the delightful town of Banff itself make the hidden ridge resort a great option for couples seeking real romance in the natural scenery of Alberta.
Honeymooners highly recommend a trip to Banff, especially staying at Hidden Ridge due to its spectacular mountain views and proximity to town. They appreciate the swift response from the management, particularly manager Brittany, in resolving any issues. The overall experience was positive, leading them to express their intentions of choosing the same place for future stays.

This hotel was booked relatively last-minute as a result of the Jasper wildfires. On the positive side, it’s a good option for a small group or family with a well-equipped kitchen. Also hot tub on-site if that’s your thing and great that the hotel included tickets to use local public transport instead of having to drive to local sights in downtown Banff. Also, a quiet location. However, we arrived late in the evening and stayed in 213 which needs refreshing and a good clean. Glitter from previous guests, stained walls and large cobwebs did not instil confidence in hygiene standards. Thank goodness we only had to stay one night.

I will start this review by saying the staff we encountered during our 20 minute visit were exceptional. It is absolutely nothing to do with them that I write this review. They were very friendly initially, and on check out 20 minutes after arrival were incredibly understanding and accommodating. I think the you tube video I watched when booking this was approximately at least 15 years old. Although the reception area was accurate, the "cabins" themselves are significantly oversold. We were issued cabin 205. Following a lovely check in we drove to the cabin. It was somewhat smaller than we had anticipated and the strong smell of bonfire was clear upon entry. The first thing I always check in a new place is how comfortable a bed is and the bathroom. The beds felt like they were a hammock, U shaped if you will. Soft and well used would be a kind definition. Above the bed was a whole host of cobwebs and not being a spider fan I was not overly keen on sleeping there. The bathroom was remiscent of a portacabin. Tiny plastic bath and toilet, where I could clean my teeth, shower and wee all at the same time. My other half and I after our mini exploration tour sat on the sofa in uncomfortable silence, both on our phones. He was looking at alternative places to stay. I was reading recent reviews. My thought was, providing the kitchen worked we could survive a night and find somewhere else after. Upon checking the kitchen we found that none of the hobs worked and one of the turn dials came off in my hand. Without a working kitchen and with everthing else, we decided to leave. Upon leaving and explaining this to reception - staff were brilliant and the resort did not charge us. I cannot fault the customer service and am very grateful for this. Although the Hidden Ridge Resort was not for us - we heard many families having a wonderful time by the pool - so maybe it is somewhere more suited to families. I would recommend an update or renovation. For the price - I would expect far more. For less money, we then stayed in a wonderful place in Canmore.

The property itself is beautiful on the outside; landscaping, flowers, and the lobby and pool area are lovely. But inside, our unit was worn and dated. It’s very dark even with all of the lights on and there was a big stain on the carpet. It seems to be an older building in need of repair. For example, the window molding was very cracked and old. There is no vanity space at all in the bathroom the bedroom is small with no place to put your suitcase. We were out and about all day and didn’t intend to spend much time in our room anyway, so the space served its purpose fine. The location is good - close to downtown.

We left two days early. Unit 206 was so dirty and dusty that I had a bad allergic reaction. Dust every- like it hadn’t been properly cleaned in over a year, other than surfaces. Stove and refrigerator didn’t work properly. Kitchen faucet leaked onto counter. Fan they gave us (because there is no ac and upstairs is HOT) was black with dust. All heat registers were covered with dust, the bedroom ceiling lamp looked like a haunted house. Pool was jam packed with people. Train really loud all night and early morning. Staff was nice and Pippa refunded our $$ for days not used but we had to find last minute accommodations. It is an old complex in major need of renovation. The picture of the place is really the lobby and laundry facility - not the 4-plex unit you are renting.

Let me tell you: this hotel used to be my favorite in Banff area. When it was 170 CAD per night :-) Not sure what happened with prices... They gone absolutely CRAZY. Cozy 3 star hotel for 675 CAD per night plus taxes (720 CAD per night)??? Really? To say this it is redivulous is to say nothing. I for sure will NEVER come back untill it get back to normal price again. or you Guys will stay out of business. With all utilities it has (pool sauna, fireplace) it is very modest hotel, not in a luxury range for sure. Best price, considering all should be MAXIMUM 250 per night. I hope I will be able to stay there again one day. But for now... I would better pay 1200 CAD to stay in Moraine lake lodge which is Truly luxury experience.
