This is our fifth stay at the Harbourview. There are many hotels to choose from in Charleston but we keep coming back to the Harbourview because of the location down by Waterfront Park, the cleanliness of the inn and quietness. I never hear neighbors above me or beside me. The rooms are large and well appointed. They even provide a sound machine which I really appreciate. Breakfast can be brought to your room or eaten on the top floor terrace, which is lovely. Everyone that works there is friendly and helpful. There is also a nightly wine and cheese reception and cookies and milk served later in the evening. We will always stay at the Harbourview when visiting Charleston.

Great location. Lovely, clean facility. Friendly staff happy to accommodate special needs.
We found Harbourview Inn to be the perfect place for our time in Charleston. In addition to the very nicely-appointed room, we enjoyed the close proximity to historic landmarks and great restaurants.
Staff members were attentive and graciously accommodated my special needs as a non-ambulatory guest.
100% satisfied with our stay!

From the moment we were greeted by the professional staff at the HarborView Inn, our experience was nothing less than perfect. We asked for a room on the harbor side and they accommodated our request. The room was spacious and well appointed and the harbor view was perfect. The HarborView Inn is in a great location -- we felt safe at all times, centrally located to the Charleston City Market, delicious restaurants, great shopping, and a lot of historic churches and other must-sees all within walking distance.
The welcome cheese/wine reception is delightful -- it is a way for guests to mingle with other guests and enjoy a delicious assorted display of meats, cheeses, crackers, nuts, fruit, etc., not to mention nice wine selections. We suggest making later dinner plans so one can enjoy the cheese/wine reception.
The continental breakfast is wonderful and a great start to your day. The choices are plentiful -- assorted quiches, baked items, fruit, cereals, juices, not to mention guests are able to order and enjoy mimosas and Bloody Mary's if one desires (these are at a very reasonable fee).
The HarborView Inn is the only place we stay in the beautiful city of Charleston.

This hotel is fantastic! I've had HarbourView Inn on my radar for a couple of years, but it is out of our price range. We planned to visit family prior to Christmas and were going to be home just the 2 of us Christmas day. So when I saw a black Friday special, we decided this was our chance to try this hotel out. We enjoyed our stay very much. Every staff member was exceptional! We loved the breakfast, 5:00 spread, and milk and cookies at 9. We also had an unexpected treat of Santa and Mrs. Clause; and especially loved the Charleston Carollers that came Christmas Eve as well as Christmas night. It made our stay extra special. Location is fantastic for walking the streets of downtown Charleston, as well as walking the battery and viewing the harbour. We would definitely recommend!

My wife and I love to visit Charleston and we made a December trip to see the city decked out for Christmas. This was our first time staying at HarbourView Inn and we were not disappointed. Every single staff person we met was friendly and helpful. The check in process was easy and our room was nice and comfortable. There is a large construction project going on across the street but we didn't have any issues with noise or traffic. The breakfast served in our room was a nice touch. If you want a nice place that is clean, comfy and friendly in downtown, this is a great choice.

Enjoyed our stay. We were upgraded to a room with a balcony and water view and unfortunately, and not the fault of the hotel, a construction site. Focused on the fountain and water which were lovely. Room was large and nicely appointed. I loved having breakfast delivered just not a fan of the choices. (Cereal, muffins hard boiled egg ect) I liked the location as it was easy to walk to all the best parts of Charleston. Staff was very nice.

We had been to the Harborview many years ago and loved every minute so we really were looking forward to another lovely stay there; unfortunately our very first interaction with whoever was at the front desk when we arrived late last Sunday afternoon left a lot to be desired. She barely cracked a smile, or offered a ‘welcome to the harborview’ — she merely asked for an ID, pointed to the credit card machine and handed us the room keys to 309. Very off-putting to say the least.
Room 309 was definitely not up to snuff. The water pressure in the shower was poor, but worse of all was the mattress. It needs to be replaced straightaway. It was so uncomfortable that neither of us slept very well — after a long drive from Virginia. The next morning, we went back to the front desk to ask if the mattress could be replaced. Thank goodness the lady at the front desk — Jodi — was more helpful than her colleague the day before. She moved us to room 403 with no problem. 403 had a much nicer view of the harbor, the water pressure was much better and, best of all, the mattress was much more comfortable than the previous nite’s.
After that rocky start, the rest of the week was pleasant and the staff that we encountered were all very personable and went out of their way to help if they could. Special mention goes to Jodi and Collin.

We paid top dollar ($1k per night) to stay in the king bedroom on the fourth floor facing the harbor. The view itself is stunning, but partially obscured by a new property across the street. We enjoyed the fireplace, but the other amenities in the room were quite ordinary. The bed was in need of repair and the bathroom amenities other than the linens are more typical of a Comfort Inn (e.g., postage sized bar soap and small tubed shampoos). There is almost no storage for clothing and the smallish TV is tucked in the corner on the armoire. There is no coffee station in the room and no bar on property. To be sure, they have a coffee station on the first floor and do offer a wine and cheese reception during the cocktail hour
in their small lobby. Breakfast is delivered to your room, to the fourth floor outdoor porch, or to a first floor dining area, but you have to choose what you want on the evening before by leaving a completed menu card on your room door knob. You can get quiche, cereals, and such, but don’t count on bacon and eggs or French toast. I’m not sure what the building was originally designed for but probably not a hotel. There is no service elevator so guests compete with meal carts and housekeeping carts all day long. We did not know when we booked in December that this was their big bridge run (a 10k race) and this might have explained the price. But even at one-third of what we paid, this would have been less than we would have expected.
