I couldn’t fault this hotel. The room was lovely with a view over the pool and beach and the bed was SO comfortable. There’s a huge variety of food and drink available, served by really friendly staff. We swam in the sea every morning, followed by a dip in the pool and then the hot tub! Swimming in the cave was an amazing experience and the cave massage was incredible. The local bus and ferry service are excellent and make it easy to explore the island. There was a very talented guitarist playing on Monday evening. I wouldn’t hesitate to return!

We came to Bermuda to ring in 2025 and Grotto Bay was the perfect location for our trip. There was a champagne toast in the evening, the staff was friendly and gracious, and there was a Polar Bear Plunge the next morning to ring in the new year!
We didn't take advantage of the shuttle to St. George's because friends gave us a ride, but we appreciate that the hotel had a shuttle available so guests could see the Onion Drop at midnight without having to worry about transportation.
We have stayed at Grotto Bay previously and always enjoyed the convenient location near the airport, but for this particular celebration it was especially fabulous.

So, with all the fees and taxes added in, we paid around $450 a night for our three night stay and while there are some positives, we don't believe that they are worth this kind of price. True, every place in Bermuda worth staying in will cost several hundred dollars, but we shouldn't have to put up with what we had to.
And I'm not talking about the fact that our room and many common areas needs some TLC. From paint chips to walls not meeting the floor flush to old furniture in need of replacement, we can excuse some of it because this place offers some unique features. You can get a spa treatment in a cave and better yet since it's free, you can go swimming in a beautiful cave without leaving g the property. Beware that the water temp is quite cold.
What I'm talking about is trash and dirty dishes strewn around the resort's common areas and worse yet was that the walls separating our room was so thin that you could hear everything (and I do mean everything) coming from the room next door. There was plenty of moaning and Halloween was 2 months ago.
Things like that are inexcusable when you are paying these prices. So while, there same some neat things about staying here, they simply aren't worth the high prices you are going to pay.

WOW is how we would describe this resort.
We're just back from the most amazing week at this beautiful hotel. The whole package was first class.
The rooms were so clean and well furnished. Good sized bathroom with an excellent shower plus some toiletries.
The housekeeping staff do a brilliant job.
Our room was an ocean view - and what a view!! Crystal clear waters and unspoiled scenery.
We were all inclusive which is excellent value for money. All the meals were first class with the evening meals freshly cooked to your choice.
Breakfast was a total delight with the amount of choice. The waiting staff were really nice and helpful.
The hotels location makes it really easy to explore the island as a complimentary bus pass covers the whole island and the bus stop is right outside the hotels front gate.
The Cathedral cave is part of the hotels grounds offering the unique opportunity to swim in the caves crystal waters. I swam in the cave and it was a surreal experience and one that I will never forget - truly amazing.
We loved Bermuda as the whole island is so clean and breathtakingly beautiful. The people are lovely, always smiling and eager to stop and chat.
Thankyou Grotto Bay and Bermuda for a wonderful holiday and hopefully we'll be back some day.

My wife and I were extremely excited for a couples spa treatment at Grotto Bay Beach Resort, but it turned out to be a deeply disappointing experience that left us feeling uncomfortable and upset.
The biggest issue was the complete lack of consideration when it came to assigning therapists. My wife specifically requested a female therapist when we booked the appointment, which was a non-negotiable for her comfort. To our surprise and discomfort, 30 minutes prior to the session starting, they had assigned a male therapist to massage my wife without even informing us beforehand.
When we brought this up, the staff acted dismissively and claimed there was an emergency with the female therapists available. Not only should this have been communicated to us in advance, but they showed no understanding of how this could be uncomfortable for some clients. This oversight completely ruined what was supposed to be a relaxing experience for both of us.
For a resort that advertises itself as a luxury destination, this was unacceptable. If you’re looking for a couples spa experience that prioritizes comfort, professionalism, and respect, I strongly recommend avoiding Grotto Bay Beach Resort.

Really enjoyed our time at Grotto Bay. But warning - if you have walking problems please avoid as it is on a hillside with lots of steps. It is scenic, with lots to do - the main pool, the beach, kayaking, tennis and more. The grotto with cave pool and atmospheric stalactites was interesting. We chose all inclusive so knew we had no more costs beyond that. The food was excellent. We enjoyed our favourite Pina Coladas. An incident occurred when we were hit by the tail of a hurricane so rain penetrated onto the floor in a few rooms including ours. The staff worked late to prepare other rooms for us so we could move quickly. It became more of an adventure than an inconvenience. Full marks to Rob the general manager and his crew. He checked we were OK the next day. We were given a week's bus pass with our all inclusive booking, so were able to explore the island by bus and ferry which is the way to do it. Lovely beaches, nice walks, crystal cave with stalagmites and stalactites at the top of the hill, aquarium/zoo, Naval dockyard. This was our 4th visit in the last 10 years. We hope to return.

Excellent hotel, good standard all round. Our room was excellent with sea view and a balcony, we are light sleepers but v quiet. The standard of food was high, obviously have talented chefs , and there was so much choice for a 7 day holiday, not enough time to try all the options available. We were on the all inclusive package, which was for us worth it, with unlimited drinks, and there seem to be food available at all times! Afternoon tea and cakes was an extra we did not expect. We found the free bus and ferry passes a great addition, and used them everyday to get to Hamilton and Royal dockyard, and even Coopers Island. Location was great for the Crystal caves (worth a visit) and Swizzle inn. The hotel had just opened the rooftop bar, which was a treat to use in the evening before dinner, offering tapas style food of a very high quality. We could not fault the hotel, and the Managers and staff were very engaging. We are v fussy travellers and would definitely recommend going.

Where do I start? Grotto Bay is one of the most beautiful resorts we’ve ever been to from the Plush landscaping, gorgeous beach, heated swimming pool, hot tub gym and of course I hate to even mention because I don’t want many people to know about it that awesome underground grotto cave where you can swim is one of the most awesome experiences we’ve ever had.
It’s perfectly located right next-door to the Swizzle inn and directly across the street, the world famousblue hole! The staff is super friendly. I have to give a special shout out and thank you to Rob the manager who just made our vacation the very best it could be he’s one of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet. The rooms were super clean. The sheets and bedding were brand new. They even had a place to charge the scooters and our electric cars for free right outside the room. I just have to say if you’re thinking about going to Bermuda and not staying at the grotto Bay resort, you’re making a big mistake!!!!! A1 job to the whole staff for making our vacation fabulous!!!! can’t wait to stay again!!!!!

Our stay at Grotto Bay was wonderful.
We stayed for 9 nights in September and were thrilled with the room, cleanliness, staff and grounds. The spa was great, I’ve never had a massage in a cave before but can’t wait to do it again now.
We also enjoyed swimming in Cathedral cave on the property, it was cold and you have to be careful on the stairs down but worth it. We snorkeled right from the beach to see coral, fish and a shipwreck.
We primarily used the bus/ferry to get around during our stay and found the central location very convenient. We could jump on the bus just outside the property for a quick ride to St. George’s or the other way to Hamilton and took the ferry to the dockyard from there. With several trips each way while we were there, we definitely got our money’s worth out of the passes.
The close proximity meant we could walk to Swizzle Inn, Crystal Caves, Bailey’s Ice cream and Blue Hole park (don’t wear white shoes for that last one).
I can’t wait to go back and would recommend this resort if you are visiting Bermuda.
Note: this is a big property so talk to them if you have mobility issues.
We stayed in the farthest building from the main one and politely said “no thank you” to help with our bags when we checked in. You bet we got help when we checked out. Lol
Other than the bags, it just meant a few extra steps for us during our stay.

This is the do it yourself
Hotel. I think because it’s an all inclusive optimal, the service goes by the wayside. The beach bar had a server that was down right cranky and rude. No greeting no thank you in fact you couldn’t tell if he even head you when you placed your order as he never acknowledged it. He was an older gentleman man the other bartenders were very nice however. The severs at the grill were very accommodating and nice though.
The front desk personnel leave much to be desired. I know management will say I’m sorry we had such a disappointing time, wish we knew etc but they did know as we did complain. The check in time is 3 pm. We arrived at 11am. They told us we should t check in until 3. I asked if they could call me if the room was ready sooner as we would like to change and enjoy the beach etc. she said no mama we don’t have phones to call you with. Your room will be ready at 3 like I said that’s check in time if it’s ready before we wil email you. We Said we wanted to change and go to the beach - she said there’s a restaurant you can relax at near the beach until your room is ready So we kept checking our email but nothing. At 2 pm we checked back. She said and I quote” like I told you several times before, check-in is at three! “ we said there’s only so long we can sit on the beach and our clothing or at the restaurant and thought it’s an hour away. We would check back and she said no nothing is ready. Then again at exactly 3 PM we went back to check if our room was ready and lo and behold it was. We were located at the second the furthest building. The 400 rooms the rooms are quite small and even though they have been renovated, they are still in need of more renovation. The floor is a plastic looking floor that I don’t understand how it can be washed because it literally looks like a nylon floor with lines going through it. My feet were filthy from walking without shoes. This Prompted me to never take off my shoes while in my room at all. Coincidentally we met several couples who checked in the day before us and the same day we did. They all got their rooms upon check-in. Some people checked in at 10 AM 11 AM and 12 pm. They all got their rooms before the 3 PM check in. I said maybe they were just busy today and one couple said they come all the time and they’ve never waited until 3 PM. It leads us to believe that the girl at the front desk just did not like us. I don’t know why we couldn’t have been nicer nut she was nasty from the moment we said good morning.
If you are a person that has mobility issues can’t walk far distance. This is definitely not the hotel for you. There is a lot of pills, a lot of steps and a lot of walking, especially to get down to the beach from the main lobby. I didn’t mind it but one person in my party has a bad back and cannot maneuver hills and steps so easily. . This was challenging every single day for her
The beach is not a very wide beach, but it is sufficient. My only complaint there is that there is absolutely no bar service on the beach and there is no beach chair service either. This presents a problem, especially when you have guests going into the ocean water to fish out tables and chairs that have been left there from the day before. This is because there’s no one there cleaning up the chairs and setting them up again for the next day . The towel situation is real - they definitely run out of towels and then you have to wait for them to be replenished.
If you’re looking for a full service hotel, this is not for you. We had to drag our chairs, get umbrellas and search for tables every single day on the beach. There’s no one there to assist you. Although one day, there was a young gentleman who did help us, but that was just one day and we never saw him again.
The restaurants weren’t bad and the servers work very hard. We only ate lunch and breakfast though. Only one restaurant serves breakfast in the morning and that’s the one off the lobby. That ends at 11 AM and then there’s nothing available for a full hour. Then the beach restaurant opens at 12. So if you miss breakfast or just don’t want breakfast and go down to the beach and want some water- There’s nowhere to get it. we went down early every morning to sit at the beach at 10 o’clock and if we didn’t bring water with us there’s nowhere to get any except going all the way back up to the restaurant and you better get there before 11. This hotel is not my idea for full service hotel because service is not a priority it seems. We we been to Bermuda many times before and heard good things about this hotel. that’s why we decided to stay. We did not opt into the inclusive because we like to go to the beautiful restaurants throughout the island. They say you get what you pay for and that is definitely a true Statement. We will definitely return to Bermuda, but we will never stay at this hotel again. We like to stay in hotels where the customers are appreciated, greeted kindly and taken care of.

Just returned home from Bermuda. Stayed at grotto bay. Reviews really fooled us. We arrived around 12:00 and were told we couldn’t not check in till 3. The girl who checked us in was very cold and adamant that we wouldn’t get in till 3. She never told us there was a changing room so we can change to bathing suits while we waited. The room we finally got at exactly 3 was at the far end way down the hill. If I have bad knees or bad back this place is not for you. There is a lot of walking up and down. There is about 3 levels of long steps down and back up to beach and pool with no where to rest. If you go to the pool or beach don’t expect to get anything to drink or eat till exactly 12:00. They have a restaurant and bar but doesn’t open till noon. They have a Gatorade cooler with water. Really!!! Beach is very narrow with 3 man made levels into the rocks. We didn’t do inclusive which they offer so I can’t say hows the food is. Inclusive this does not include room service. We did order coffee, muffin and a fruit bowl $47. Rooms were very sticky and humid even tho Ac was working everything was moist. Called down to front desk for a bar of soap and towels but no one ever showed up. Rooms are offered as ocean view or oceanfront. There is no ocean it’s a bay. Grotto bay is in the bay. We will be returning to beautiful Bermuda but not returning to grotto bay. All other reviews people loved it I guess they are use to sublime resorts.

This is an interesting review as my wife and I actually didn’t have the opportunity to vacation at GB.
By way of explanation, my wife and I have had the privilege of visiting Bermuda at least 12 times, including our honeymoon.
For our last 2 visits, we had the unique opportunity to stay at GB.
Several months ago, we scheduled another vacation at GB for the last week in September.
I was constantly in touch with Jonee in reservations concerning our trip. Unfortunately, several weeks ago, my wife developed a serious medical issue. We kept hoping that we could keep our reservation as originally planned.
However, my wife’s medical condition did not improve and, as of Monday of this week, my wife’s orthopedic doctor clearly prohibited her from traveling
As a result, we reluctantly had to cancel our reservation and trip to GB. However, I am pleased to report that Jonee and Rob the GM, were extremely gracious and understanding about our situation.
In our opinion, this is indeed an indication of how GB treats its guests and in indeed an example of Bermudian culture.
Again, thanks to Jonee and Rob!!!
Jeff Beekman
PS we will return to GB for many more vacations!!!!
