We return each year to Garrya Tongsai Bay which is testament to this beautiful hotel, but more importantly the wonderful staff. From the moment you arrive the service is exemplary, and always with a smile. As always it was so good to see Mark and the rest of the long term staff keeping the “Tongsai dream alive” and making our stay so very special. It is because of them that we choose to return each year, as they are absolutely amazing and a true credit to the hotel. We regard them as our special Thailand friends as we have known them for many years. Set in a stunning location with a private beach, the hotel is truly back to nature. Beautiful suites with excellent room and valet services. The bar and restaurant settings are simply the best, all serving the most delicious food ever and with special themed nights…ten out of ten! The beach and pool facilities are wonderful, as is the service provided. You can fully understand why there are so many guests who return each year. Thank you so much Mark, Manuel and the wonderful Garrya Tongsai Team for making our holiday so special…see you next year we can’t wait! Steve and Susie Holmes xxx

Absolutely amazing in every way. This hotel & its staff made our 2 week holiday to Koh Samui a very special time. From the moment we got here, even check in was lovely with a special blessing. The staff are wonderful, managers are always around to chat, ensure things are ok, offering places to visit, restaurants to go to etc. Breakfast is stunning, the 3 restaurants tasty but a special mention to Evol. What a fabulous meal we had there. One to remember. The hotel WhatsApp worked brilliantly so a taxi back to the hotel from wherever we were, was only a text away. The rooms were spacious and immaculate. We did use the buggies a lot and they were extremely prompt-absolutely no hanging around. The hotel is private, quiet & beautifully stunning. If you’re thinking of booking here, don’t think-just book it! You won’t regret it. Thank you Mark, Manuel & all your amazing staff.

Wow, another perfect stay at Garrya Tongsai Bay!♥️ This was our fifth visit and we are already planning our return for next year. It’s difficult to summarise how exquisite this place is - the location and beautiful grounds, where sustainability and nature are at the heart of everything that the hotel stands for. The delicious and creative food offerings, across all the restaurants, but I think what makes Garrya Tongsai Bay so very special and unique are the wonderful people, across ALL departments. This is testament to the fantastic leadership of Mark and Manuel. It is lovely to see the same faces year on year and the people we have got to know, who we now consider our friends - Hiro, Tang, Pu, Nok, Peah to name but a few… Thank you all for making our stay so very special. Beautiful. Stunning. Impeccable. Magical. These are just a few words that come to mind when trying to describe this amazing resort. Prior to arriving, we had stayed at a 5 star resort in Krabi, but there is no comparison to Garrya Tongsai Bay Samui. From the incredibly attentive and friendly staff, to the stunning views no matter where you are standing, to the rooms that are literally better than the online photos - I can without a doubt say this is by far my all time favorite resort I have ever stayed at! I was so sad to leave, I cried. It was everything and more that I could have ever dreamed of! ✨ We cannot wait to come back to Koh Samui to stay again!!

Fantastic stay for a few days in Koh Samui. Excellent location near some incredible breaches and amenities at Fisherman’s village. Great breakfast options every day and the staff have been so friendly and helpful throughout the whole trip.

I can’t say enough about this property. It is absolutely stunning. We loved our room. We love the staff, the food, the activities, the events, all of the thoughtful touches and details throughout this property. We only stayed eight days, but I wish we could’ve stayed longer. Highly recommend the massages. We also loved the Thai dance show and the seafood barbecue on the beach with a fire show. We took part in fruit carving and learned how to make five courses for Thai cooking class. We made so many precious memories here we could relax and have fun and enjoy everything about Thai culture on this one property. We literally did not leave for eight days. There were so many fun things to do. I highly recommend this property and I can’t wait for us to come back again someday and definitely stay much much longer.

Perfection ! Location, facilities and staff ! An amazing resort, a dream location, with 5 star service from the staff. We returned for our 25th anniversary, and were treated like royalty. From the choice of two pools, your own beach, top quality food and great activities, it ticks all the boxes a 5 star resort should. The rooms vary , but all would offer amazing views. We stayed in a sea view suite. Very private and amazing. Location , whilst on its own, it remains convenient to the fantastic Cheong Mon beach and town, whilst fishermans village and Chaweng are both a 15 min taxi away . The resort sells itself, but it’s the staff that will make you want to return !

If you want to be treated like royalty this is the place. Gorgeous place and people. Attention to detail is excellent. The accommodation, facilities and access to water sports is great. Sad to leave. I would like to thank every member of staff for doing everything with a smile.

Our stay at the hotel was absolutely amazing! We celebrated our honeymoon, and it couldn’t have been more perfect. The staff was the kindest I’ve ever encountered, and I’ve been to many five-star hotels. Their warmth and attention to detail truly made our experience special. Breakfast was outstanding—everything was fresh and well-prepared, with daily specials and juices squeezed right in front of us. Our room was pure luxury and thoughtful treats delivered daily. The pool and beach were equally fantastic, offering a perfect mix of relaxation and beauty. Although the hotel is a bit old and we had a bathroom issue that took some time to fix, the staff was incredibly helpful, responding quickly and even offering to move us to another room. In short, this was the perfect honeymoon stay, and we couldn’t have asked for more!

My husband and I have never travelled to the Far East, making our honeymoon even more special. As a couple we both like to travel, and we especially enjoy luxury travel where we can, and are fortunate enough to be able. We were at The Garrya Tongsai for two weeks in February. We found the hotel, location, staff, food, spa - in-fact pretty much everything(!) to be exceptional. This trip has given us a taste for the Far East, and allowed us to discover the opportunities around the region for travel - of which there are many. As a busy couple we both enjoy vacations that include much relaxation, exploring, fitness, reading and local culture. The Garrya Tongsai allowed us to enjoy all of these things and so much more…. I took two hours one day to walk the entire hotel & discovered wonderful beauty. I love to walk the perimeter of hotels, makes me feel like I’ve truly lived it all! Try it….. The Spa We indulged, and throughly enjoyed, the hotel spa and treatments. The setting was bliss - by the ocean and also in their treatment rooms. The staff couldn’t do enough to ensure our “time out” was relaxing. We had two treatments, one on beach front and other in their relaxing woodland rooms. The hot stone massage I had was the best I have had in the world. The Gym As a professional in the well-being industry - and a self-confessed fitness addict(!) I love a 24/7 gym when we travel (although 24/7 isn’t always an option!). The Garrya however, was 24/7 but didn’t have the best facilities to exercise. We did speak to the hotel manager, Mark, about the gym* - as we felt this area needed much better ventilation/ air conditioning and updated equipment/ mats. It’s a relatively small space and when we were there it was in regular use in the mornings, and super hot! The area was well laid out in that sense with the equipment they had, but it didn’t reflect the hotel, and I hope next time to see a change here. It won’t stop me going as I’m highly motivated to exercise (I’m addicted to it!), but I imagine it would not motivate some - and with my wellbeing hat on we should all encourage exercise! *I loved the hotel so much I would be happy to contribute further to any planning of this area! The Food We ate in all three restaurants, but particularly liked Fish Tales and Rhoy Rhoy. Breakfast was exceptional, and we liked the Thai buffet and the barbecue dinners. The service at every restaurant was exceptional. Every person working in this area was happy, we loved them all - especially Jah, and seeing Pu every morning making fresh cold press juices was more than uplifting! We would love to see her in our kitchen each morning, she is a brilliant wake up, “chop chop” as she would say, was a breath of fresh air 🫶🏼 The Watersports. You can canoe, paddle-board or sail. We canoed and I paddleboarded. Was great to have these available. Staff all very friendly and deserving of a mention. This team ensure sun-beds and the area around is clean and well-maintained. The Staff Every single member of staff was delightful, friendly, and nothing was too much trouble. The relaxed way of life was something we found inspiring. The receptionists were also super knowledgeable and deserving of a mention - attentive on check in and check out as you’d expect when visiting 5*. We would like to say thank you to all the staff, especially Peng, Mark, Jah, Joy and the lady who made the juices every morning, Pu. The Hotel Rooms Some of the rooms at the hotel would not suit those unable to walk far. There are buggies freely available to take you wherever you wish, but even the door to door service does not help navigate some steps to some of the accommodations. Therefore the poolside rooms would be more suited for those with any mobility concerns. Our room was 212, overlooking the ocean. It was a beautiful room. We would definitely stay again in 212. The bath was on the balcony - an end of day treat. Our housekeeper ensured we had crystals and lovely bath oil replenished each day. The Housekeeping The unsung heroes of any hotel. Our housekeeper, Pink, was lovely. They really deserve mentions. Some of our friendships over our years of travel have been with housekeeping - and very humbling. The area We ventured out of the hotel on several occasions. Our recommendations would be for the Anthong Marine / Nature Park (we did the VIP trip), Fisherman’s market is a must (but very busy!) and the Choenmong beach next door - a short walk & where we had several dinners - make sure you take mosquito spray. We went to The Elephant Jungle Sanctuary, and liked the fact the rescued elephants were now being cared for in a humane and ethical way. We felt like we were giving them a spa day, and not the other way around, they weren’t performing for us. It felt good to contribute to their peace and future of this conversation. We had several massages outside of the hotel, and our personal choice was to visit the better set-up venues at the Fisherman’s Village overlooking the ocean. The Anthong Marine / Nature Park took us to 4 beautiful islands where we could snorkel, eat, rest and explore. We were lucky enough to see two whales. We visited these islands by speedboat on the calmest of days, the sea was like glass, a real treat to be in a speed boat. The reason we chose the VIP trip was simply down to numbers of people. The non VIP trip had significantly more people on it - well worth saving up your pennies for this excursion. We visited Wat Plai Laem, one of the temples. I am close to my spiritual beliefs, but the day we visited - and although we loved the spectacular - we didn’t come away feeling inspired to go again. I realise that temples need to be commercial to exist and making money is essential to do so, but somehow it didn’t feel they were doing this in a way that suited my energy/ or felt spiritual. We liked to see the fish in the lake around the temples. But for us, we found more spirituality in the natural beauty of the island, but definitely think the temples are worth a visit - they are spectacular. We also note we went on a rainy day which didn’t help. We didn’t go to the waterfalls as told elephants are tied up/ performing here. I did not want to see that! We also recommend Krua Thai Restaurant in the Choenmong beach area. We went twice and thoroughly enjoyed the restaurant and authentic vibe - take mosquito spray, they also have available. Talking about Choeomong - we enjoyed the beach at night. It was beautiful and had lovely restaurants and bars to enjoy. There were lots of other places we enjoyed included PK Samui Cafe - a gem we found on our walk to Wat Plai Laem. I could go on and on. Basically I loved Koh Samui, and will return and expand my knowledge.

Everyone on the staff, from our wedding assistant Miley and organizer Ann to the general manager Manuel, went the extra mile to make this experience truly special for us. Plus, every staff member was so friendly and always ready to help. It truly felt magical. Do yourself a favour, stop browsing and just book this hotel. It is absolutely wonderful - we had the hillside villa with the pool and it was stunning, tucked away and private with the most amazing hot tub/bath and pool with a sea view. The whole place is nestled amongst nature, the beach is beautiful and quiet and you really get the sense of blending in with the natural environment. The facilities - spa, both pools, gym - were excellent, never too crowded and really well maintained. The restaurants were good quality - shout out to breakfast buffet in particular. Sure, the food and the spa are more expensive than going out to eat locally but nothing crazy. We were able to leave the resort and head to the nearby towns / villages easily using Grab/local taxis. Really what makes this place special though is the staff. From the warm welcome through to lots of little, personal touches throughout our stay, we felt well looked after. All of the staff were wonderful but special shootout to Kookin, Noey, Pang and the gentleman who does the Muay Thai classes (one of the best things we did in our whole trip) for really putting a smile on our face. Can't wait to come back again.

This hotel is a definite 5 star accommodation in a beautiful setting and the facilities and service are second to none. The staff were always courteous and respectful. Nothing was too much trouble and their attention to detail was exceptional in ensuring that our stay was perfect.

Our 15th trip which probably says it all ! Tranquil gardens full of birdsong and butterflies- excellent food and staff that are always smiling and happy to serve you. Mark Harrison has been a brilliant manager here for many years and doing a wonderful job - a special place !

As soon as you enter Garrya you feel as if you have arrived in Paradise! The surroundings are lush & green, the staff are incredibly helpful and welcoming and the room we booked was stunning, overlooking the bay... You can do various activities at the hotel from yoga, an early morning nature reserve walk and a Thai boxing class... shout out to the teacher M for making these so much fun! On a Tuesday evening there is BBQ night which is well worth a visit. The food is incredible and there is an amazing show on the beach to watch! We were here for eight nights and we did not want to leave. The staff make this hotel, they are so friendly and go out of their way to assist... I loved the special touches, nice biscuits in our room, fruit every day and water bottles. Plus you have complimentary water and fruit when you are relaxing on the beach, even when you leave they bring over some nice treats at breakfast and a vase of flowers! Oh and just to say how incredible the massages are at the spa! thank you ladies! The only downside is you have to leave and come home!! I am hoping one day I can come again! Weve just been dragged away from 9 glorious days at the Garrya Tongsai Bay. It was hard to leave this beautiful hotel and the 33 degree heat and return to 3 degrees in the UK. We travelled round the world in 1995 and as it was our 25th wedding anniversary we wanted to return to our favourite place of our travels to celebrate which had to be Thailand. We also wanted to stay somewhere that was reminiscent of the old Thailand we remembered and somewhere that hadn't been spoilt or over developed as so many places have. After much research we chose the Tongsai Bay as it captured everything we were looking for. From the moment we arrived the hotel staff made us feel so welcome and we knew as were handed the cold towels and cooling drink overlooking the private beach we had definitely made the right choice. Our room was a sea view suite which had plenty of room, large balcony with a bath and an amazing view over the beach. We were half board and ate in all the hotels restaurant's, our favourite was Fishtails which is right on the beach, the food was exceptional in the quality and presentation combined with a warm gentle breeze and sound of the waves it doesn't get much better. The beach barbecue was one of the highlights with a great selection of lobster, prawns and steak straight from the BBQ. We went into Fisherman's Village to eat one night but found the food better at the hotel and a much more relaxed environment. The staff are all amazing, always smiling and have time for you, this stems right from the top with Mark the General Manager who's always visible and mingling with the hotel guests which is a good sign of a quality well run hotel. A quick mention to the lovely juice lady who made us smile each morning with her special happy juices which were an amazing start to each day combined with a great selection for breakfast. Also to Jah who looked after us many times at Fishtails. The hotel never felt busy due to the clever design and layout, we particularly enjoyed the half moon pool and sunbeds below this pool on the beach for extra privacy and relaxation. The Spa was also a cool haven of tranquillity within the jungle setting with great treatments and massages. Having previously worked in luxury travel I have been fortunate enough to stay in some of the top hotels in the world and The Tongsai Bay is definitely up there with the best of them. If you want to experience true Thai hospitality and escape to a beautiful private oasis of calm in this hectic world then choose the Tongsai Bay Hotel you wont be disappointed. PS try to visit the national marine park on a day trip its stunning! We will be back as soon as possible !!

What a wonderful place! Set in beautifully kept natural gardens on a sloping hill side down to a private secluded bay with granular sandy beach and big family pool area with plentiful sun loungers and complimentary watersports. We had a sea view villa, which was spacious, well equipped with lovely big comfy bed and outside space with sun loungers. Sweets or biscuits were delivered to our villa every afternoon. We loved the quiet crescent shaped 2nd pool further up the hill for adults. Pool towels and iced mineral water were always available and the personnel brought us home made fruit ice lollies, fruit juice and iced face towels. We had fabulous buffet style breakfasts every morning with such a huge selection to suit everyone. The highlight was definitely Pu's fruit station with freshly made fruit juice concoctions made for you on the spot. We looked forward to seeing Pu's fun and super friendly welcome every morning! All the staff without exception were so friendly and efficient but we have to give a special shout out to Obb who made our stay extra special. We had some fantastic meals too in 2 of the 3 onsite restaurants, one set up high on the hill with far reaching views over the bay, and one right on the beach. There were also 2 evenings with Thai dancers and buffet dinner, and fire dancers on the beach plus Thai BBQ which were really enjoyable. There are a lot of steps but in house buggies can wizz you around from room to reception or restaurants. We loved it and we are already planning our return!

We again very much enjoyed our stay at this superb hotel. Our villa was very comfortable and our room maid took very good care of us. Indeed, our room maid was undoubtably the best we have had over our stays at this hotel. We ate in Rhoy Rhoy and Fish Tales and again found the food to be of a very high standard. Because we stay for longer than most, we did find the menu choices to be a little restrictive after a while though the chefs offered, and did provide, alternatives to the menu dishes when requested. Breakfast was excellent with super fruits and very good egg dishes as well as a good selection of cheeses, cold cuts and pastries available. As many reviewers have identified it is the staff that turn this resort from a good hotel into an exceptional one. We were always very well looked after; the beach staff were quick to provide towels and water as and when needed, restaurant and bar staffs always went the extra mile to ensure we enjoyed our bar and dining experiences, buggies with good and helpful drivers arrived quickly when requested, security staff were invariably polite and always offered assistance as and when needed, the well-kept grounds and abundance of wild life ably demonstrate the skill of the grounds maintenance staff, reception staff were very good indeed and quick to resolve the odd minor issue that arose, the hotel taxi service was excellent with good and careful drivers and modern and clean vehicles at a reasonable price. All teams need able leaders if they are to deliver excellence consistently and the management team at Tongsai Bay succeed in delivering a consistent very high level of customer service. Area managers were very visible and keen to interact with guests and we noted hotel senior managers were quick to help their staff as and where needed including clearing tables in Fish Tales during busy times. One negative we encountered was the many emails and WhatsApp message sent to us prior to our arrival purporting to be check in related but also requested information which, in our view, came close to privacy invasions and were of a sales related focus. These emails etc are a nuisance and need to be minimised and focussed more directly on check in where guests have not otherwise advised the hotel of arrival information. To sum, Garrya Tongsai Bay is a very special hotel with exceptional staff who consistently go that extra mile. We very much enjoyed our stay at the hotel to such an extent that we have already booked a stay for next year. Thank you, Garrya Tongsai Bay.

The resort was amazing! The resort was an open-air concept, so you were able to enjoy the beauty of this tropical oasis. They also had plenty of fans if you needed. The room was perfect, clean, and large, with an air conditioner inside and a large outdoor covered patio with a perfect view of the pool and ocean. The staff were attentive and always available day and night to assist with your needs and answer questions. The breakfast buffet was great, a large variety for everyone's taste, including authentic Thai food. There were chefs to cook eggs to order just how you like them and the most amazing fresh fruit and juice, and they also had a smoothie bar. In the evening, they had a different theme night with entertainment. We suggest you utilize the free resort transportation to the local town to experience the culture or book excursions. We also chose to rent a car to explore on our own, we felt safe at all times everywhere we went. We saw many amazing things. The staff (Nooy) was very helpful in giving suggestions and helpful tips. We were very impressed; the staff spoke English very well. We highly recommend this resort. Attentive staff, tranquil tropical grounds, comfortable rooms

Great to be back at Garrya Tongsai Bay for our twentieth visit and another great stay. As in previous years we stayed in one of the special villas (Nang Gong) which was as amazing as ever with its spectacular views and wonderful terrace - not to mention two pools! We ate at all three restaurants, Fish Tales, Evol and Rhoy Rhoy, each offering very different dining experiences - the food really is high quality, thanks to Chef Eak and his team - in our opinion probably the best on the island. Housekeeping is often overlooked in these reviews but we would like to thank Kaew for being so wonderful and for looking after us so well! As always our Spa treatments were perfect every time, thanks to Fern, Soi and Pang. It is always such to pleasure to return to Garrya Tongsai Bay (prev. The Tongsai Bay). It’s sprit, its soul, its wonderful people and the most perfect blend of luxury with a true respect for nature gives it a uniqueness in Samui!! This has kept us returning annually for the past 20 years. However, we have noticed more recently, it is starting to lose some of this special charm due to a more commercial, impersonal approach with lots of direct upselling for products and services. Even the many upsell auto-emails ("check-in") before our arrival made us feel like numbers rather than the loyal repeat guests that we are. Changes and moving with the times are essential of course, but surely should strive to improve on the past rather than downgrade the guest experience; it would be a shame if this trend continues at this unique and special resort. We're keeping our fingers crossed! Finally a big shout out to the many long-term staff members who make our stay so memorable and who are a big reason why we keep returning, including Mark, Tang, Su, Joy and Pu. Thank you!!
