Nice property, good location. Beautiful pool and access to swim in bay but no beach. This property needs help with customer service. Many issues during our week that were met with smiles and promises to help that were never followed up on. Example: when we booked we were told we'd have to move units after two nights to get us our week. We agreed after being told it would be simple. On day of move, we were treated as check outs needing to vacate by 11 and new room not ready until 3! Spoke to three people to beg to not be homeless for the day - smiles, but nothing. WE WERE NOT CHECK OUTS and I can't see why they could work an early cleaning on the new unit and a late cleaning on the vacated to keep us comfortable. I asked to talk to management about this - have given them over a week after leaving and no one has ever contacted me. There were other issues - want to make this short and sweet: we would not return and you should think twice about booking here.

Location of the resort was so convenient to walk into the shops and restaurants of Cruz Bay and not have to worry about parking. We had an ocean side view which had the most amazing sunset views from our deck. The pool and hot tub area/deck was wonderful with sunset...

Location of the resort was so convenient to walk into the shops and restaurants of Cruz Bay and not have to worry about parking. We had an ocean side view which had the most amazing sunset views from our deck. The pool and hot tub area/deck was wonderful with sunset views as well and the grounds were well maintained and quiet. Staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. We ate one night in Ocean 362 and it was the best meal of our trip with the best views as well.

We loved our stay at Gallows Point back in October 2018. The accommodations we had were very original to the Caribbean with beautiful windows and doors inviting the outside to you and having a balcony with seating to enjoy the mountains, ocean, and sunshine. The views are simply amazing and the location is excellent! Our room was two floors with a kitchen and living area downstairs and bed with bathroom suite upstairs. Nice, open feel with ceiling fans and high ceilings to embrace the tropical feel throughout. Having access to snorkel just steps away is so appreciated and also super extra convenient (this to me, is one of the best features of the resort)! Excellent vibe and awesome location on Cruz Bay. St. John really has the exceptional and picturesque beaches, ocean, and island views. Gallows Point holds a special place in my heart. We experienced a pristine island, extraordinarily gorgeous beaches, beautiful sunsets and sunrises, amazing food very nearby at our favorite restaurant just up the street, a vibrant island with beautiful people, and this resort. This was one of my most memorable and favorite trips and St. John's is one of my top favorite destinations.

Gallows Point is tired - period. As with many other properties on the USVIs, the staff is very good and tries hard to please. The landscaping is well maintained. The condos, not so much. Because it is located on a rise with few surrounding hills, I hoped we would have a refreshing breeze despite being on the leeward side of the island. Nope. The view of St. Thomas is spectacular from the property, but the mid-day and late afternoon heat make it difficult to enjoy it until the heat fades as the sun sets. Can’t do much about the heat and lack of breeze, but the property needs updating. It is closed for the month of August for renovations, so perhaps it will reopen better than it was in July.

We very much enjoyed our recent stay at Gallows Point.  We've stayed at a variety of properties across the Caribbean over the past 30 years, favoring such small "boutique" resorts (like Mt. Cinnamon on Grenada, Ti Kaye on St. Lucia), and Gallows Point was the best we've found so far....

We very much enjoyed our recent stay at Gallows Point.  We've stayed at a variety of properties across the Caribbean over the past 30 years, favoring such small "boutique" resorts (like Mt. Cinnamon on Grenada, Ti Kaye on St. Lucia), and Gallows Point was the best we've found so far.  It is quiet and refined, and met or exceeded all expectations. Here are the things we liked best: - The location is unbeatable, in three ways.  First, the waterfront property affords stunning views, at least from the ocean-facing units.  We spent much time just lazing on our patio. The sunset views over St Thomas were gorgeous.  Second, Cruz Bay and all its restaurants and shops are a short (less the one half mile) walk away.  This has hidden advantage of not requiring finding parking in Cruz Bay, which is impossible.  Third, snorkeling/swimming---albeit rough at times---is just outside your door. - Our suite, 7A, was exceptional. It is spacious, well-appointed with rich wood cabinets/trim/windows, is tastefully decorated, and has comfortable furniture.  Better, everything was in prime working order, and best, it was exceptionally clean!   - The landscaping is lovely. - The pool is nice. - The front desk and bell service was professional, cordial, and well run.   - The on-site store is well stocked, offering a better selection than many arger properties. Our only complaint is that the compressor for the AC unit is just outside the bedroom's jalousie windows, and "buzzed", as compressors do.  It was a bit of a challenge for a light sleeper.  If you are one, bring your earplugs or white noise generator and you'll be fine.

Staying in Cruz Bay at Wharfside Village (very nice, will give a positive review.). Called Gallows Point to ask if my wife and I could stroll up for a drink in their bar, got a long windy speech about how they normally don’t allow that, but they happen to have some open tables this evening, and might make an exception, but I needed to understand that they really are making a very special accommodation to accept our patronage,. Circular repetitive conversation until I just gave up. Strange way to run a hospitality business.

This is docJCM again. Back at Gallows Point after at least 6 visits in last 12 years. I have not won the 100 million lottery yet, but I still hope to. Still best place to stay in Cruz Bay. Beautiful views, easy walk to town. We will be back in the future.

My husband and I are eagerly anticipating our return to Gallows, prompting me to share our exceptional experience from our first visit in August 2022. This property has rightfully earned its numerous 5-star reviews. The beautifully maintained grounds are conveniently located within walking distance of Cruz Bay, and the staff is courteous and professional, striking the perfect balance between attentiveness and respect for guest privacy. The accommodations at Gallows are comfortable and well-equipped, providing a homely feel that is more akin to a condo than a resort, which we found refreshing. The thoughtful amenities such as the small food store, car rental, laundry facilities, filtered water, coolers, and chairs are an amazing touch and cuts back on the need for additional rentals and taxis. Our visit during the off-season gave us the delightful impression of having the entire place to ourselves, with minimal encounters with other guests over our 5-day stay. We initially considered a different, more budget-friendly property for our upcoming visit in March 2024. However, we quickly realized that the value offered by Gallows justifies its premium price. No other accommodation on STJ combines the comprehensive amenities of Gallows with the convenience of proximity to Cruz Bay. Our stay at the Westin with our toddlers in August 2023, while enjoyable, simply didn't compareWe found ourselves gazing longingly at Gallows in the distance, yearning to return. I am confident that no other place could provide the same exceptional experience. The owner of a number of the units, Richard from Suite St. John, was easy to work with and I felt he went above and beyond to accommodate us as return guests.

We visited Gallows Point in July 2023. We absolutely loved the resort. The understated décor and attitude of the hotel is quintessential St. John. And the convenience and location of the hotel are perfect. This was our 8th visit to the island--we have stayed at The Westin, multiple houses/villas, and now Gallows. As one considers staying at Gallows, I do think it is important to understand the type of vacation that St. John and Gallows offers. Unlike the Ritz, St. Regis, Four Seasons, Rosewood, and other luxury brand hotels, St. John and Gallows is more eco and naturally focused. In order to enjoy the beaches, which are arguably some of the best in the world--and probably the nicest on the east coast--effort is required. Unlike some of the aforementioned hotel chains, St. John and Gallows required one to drive--and often times hike--to a beach. There is no white glove service. No gold carts to take you around. Sure, some of the hotel decor is worn but that is St. John. The allure of the island and the resort is the simplicity of it all...your vacation is what you make of it. We would come back to Gallows in a heart beat. We loved being able to spend all day at a beach, come back and enjoy the Gallows pool, and then get cleaned up and walk into town for dinner. Gallows makes St. John easy with its location, having a car rental service onsite, providing beach chairs and coolers, filtered water, a small convenient store on site, and even laundry services. I will say that we did not think the resort is ideal for families. The overall vibe was more adults-only.

We picked St. John USVI for a week away in order to try something different. We have been to many islands and some like Providenciales almost annually. The island is more lush and beautiful because most of it is a protected national park. In many ways like Hawaii. The town is more laid back and rustic than what you find on Grand Cayman or Provo. The stay at Gallows point was great. There are a few ways to secure a room here. We dealt directly with one of the owners Richard Matheny who was wonderful. We staying on unit 15D which may be the best building on the property as it has both a sunset and harbor view. The building is closest also to the very quiet beautiful pool. This unit has a balcony right over the sea. The kitchen was among the most well equipped I have experienced. The staff were helpful and rooms well cared for. You can walk to town in like 5 minutes down a small hill and you feel very safe. We were able to secure a Jeep at the resort (if driving you need a Jeep). The store on property really has everything you could need w long hours. The property was very quiet and there was rarely more than one or two other couples at the pool. The snorkeling right off their dock was the best I experienced on the whole island. The views are just amazing thanks to the scores of other islands you can see from the resort and the hilly nature of the islands. The restaurant on property may be the best on the island and definitely has the best view. They do not serve breakfast or lunch however. The only way the beat this place would be to rent one of the private villas or to rent a catamaran on this island. I have been to Provo, Grand Cayman, and Hawaii many times and the beaches on this island beat two of the three.

Overall Gallows Point is definitely a place I would return to in St. Johns. The view from the rooms is unbelievable and the short walk into town makes it super accessible to go in and eat, shop, and check out the area. The food at the on-site restaurant was very good and we had amazing food at every restaurant in town from breakfast to dinner. The rooms were very comfy, loved the balcony to sit out on and read, and the pool area was fabulous. It is never crowded and you can always find a spot with again amazing views. I would have given it 5 stars if it had had more food/drink options available. Things to know before you go: 1) the restaurant is only open for dinner (and closed on Tuesday). No breakfast or lunch is served at the resort. You can order in groceries from the on-site store so you can make meals in your kitchen and my understanding is you can order ahead so food is there when you arrive. I would have done so if I had known. We usually walked into town to eat -- but it was a convenient a few days to have food in room and just make a meal there and go back to hang at the pool or if we wanted a quick breakfast. 2) Also there is no pool bar -- so BYOB. The onsite store sold soda, alcohol and food. Our room was close to the pool so easy to go back and make a beverage to sip at the pool -- but again wish I had known before I arrived. 3) The accommodations are nice but each unit is different as they are owned by individuals and rented out by Gallows. Therefore some units are more modern or up to date than others depending on the owner. Ours was fine but felt a bit dated. 4) Next time I go back, I will research and make some dinner reservations ahead of time. It wasn't terribly hard to find a place to eat but some of the nicer restaurants book up and you need to wait a day or two or take a very late reservation if you don't prepare ahead. Highly recommend Morgan's Mango and The Terrace.

Stayed here for a week in March and loved it. We had an ocean-view upper condo, which was breezy and convenient to everything. Impressed by the quiet at night, especially since we were near the restaurant. Everything shut down by 10:00, making for a peaceful sleep, with only the sound of the waves. We rented a car and snorkle gear from the resort without any problems. Staff were all very friendly, except for one front desk individual, but didn't let that spoil our stay. Enjoyed our 5-min walk into town each evening for dinner. Had wi-fi problems at first, but staff fixed the issue as soon as we brought it to their attention. Beautiful, clean, well-run place!

Beautiful resort. Rooms are very nice and large. Upper units are lofts; lower units are 1BR. All units have a full kitchen. The rooms are upscale but have a comfy, cottage-like feel, with large doors that open to balconies with magnificent views. The property is nicely kept and the new pool is wonderful---with water views. There is access to the water for swimming and good snorkeling. A short 5 minute walk to town makes this the perfect location on the island. One complaint---service can be slow. Also, saw people smoking on their deck and kids feeding iguanas.

This is our fourth stay on St. John and it was a wonderful! The sunset view of St. Thomas USVI from our room was simply amazing. The staff are professional and friendly, the grounds are nicely landscaped, the second floor villa room was clean and comfortable and we enjoyed having a small kitchen to make breakfast and dinner one night. The resort is a short walk to town, which made it convenient to catch a taxi to the North shore beaches. We were also within hiking distance to Solomon and Honeymoon Beach along a park trail.
