We had a wonderful time at Evolve Back and a special thanks to Thelma and her team and our ranger / guide Fagasa. They made our stay an amazing experience. Fagase did what we expected and showed us the area (and wild dogs) telling wonderful stories from which we learned a lot. The food, the service, our star-bed, it was great.. Really wonderful experience. Our stay was very private, intimate and exclusive, with the best service we have ever had. Everyone, from the manager, to the guide, the searcher and the full staff were always next level in the details and service provided. The rooms are incredible, ample and very nice...

Really wonderful experience. Our stay was very private, intimate and exclusive, with the best service we have ever had. Everyone, from the manager, to the guide, the searcher and the full staff were always next level in the details and service provided. The rooms are incredible, ample and very nice decorated. They all count with two showers and two beds depending if you want to take a shower/sleep outside or inside each day. The place is very remote and magical, and we could even hear the lions during the night. The meals prepared by the team variated every day and were delicious, and each night the dinner was served in a different location. They succeeded in making every day unique. We stayed during our Honeymoon in other luxury lodges in Botswana but this one was by far the best, not only because of the rooms but the quality of the experience, and the people. I would highly recommend visiting them well before any other option.

This was our fifth travel to Africa, and the second to Botswana. I was expecting that our staying at Evolve Back Kalahari would be the cherry on top of the cake so we left it for the end, before our journey back home (Portugal). At the end of the third week, after landing in Cap Town and traveling in Namibia, Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe), Savute and the Okavango Delta we finally got to Evolve Back. There we really had a perfect ending. Starting, on our arrival, with the free upgrading to sky-luxe tent. Thelma (the manager) and all the staff made our staying unforgettable. The meals, prepared by the Chefs, were excellent. The wine offer to go with every meal was wide and top-notch. Our guide Fagasa was excellent and always trying to teach us about what we were seeing and at the same time showing is knowledge and love for wildlife and the Kalahari. Xiikae (Joey for us, to make it easier), a bushman, was a marvelous tracker. I don't know how he saw a chameleon on top of a tree at night without a flashlight!!! The journey on foot with the resident San People, and their kindness in showing how they used to live was unbelievable. We stayed for two days but I wished we had time to stay there at least two more days. We already miss it and hope to get there in the future. Kalahary and Evolve Back are both incredible gems of Botswana. It was really the cherry on top of the cake!!!

Cannot recommend this place more highly. The staff were really and helpful especially the guides. The food is excellent and the rooms immaculate. We had one with a sky terrace with a sofa you could sit and watch the sun go down and stars come out. Or even sleep under the stars. Much less busy than some of the bigger game reserves where you have half a dozen land rovers hovering around the same animals. go and visit and enjoy

As part of our Safari travel in Botswana in August 2024 we spent two nights in the Evolve Back Gham Dao Lodge just north of the Kalahari Game Reserve in the center of the country. The game drives and our stay in the lodge were beyond expectation. The game drives in the park with a size of over 100 square kilometers and round about 7 waterholes gave an excellent insight how game lives, hunts and survives in an area where the average rainfall per year is no more than 300mm. During our stay we were taken around by the same guide and (trail) tracker giving us the opportunity to get to know each other a bit better. The tracker was a bushmen who grew up in the area and was an outstanding trail-tracker guiding us to a.o. a leapord strolling quietly in the darkness. The accommodation was very comfortable and we spent the (cold) night in a a sky bed on a safe elevated platform, watching the full moon, which was quite an experience. The 3 course dinner could easily compete with a the quality of a top restaurant in the Netherland; it was served on two different spots in the park, sitting around a camp fire. Guide, tracker and manager joint us during dinner and we discuused various topics ranging from chitchat to politics and history and current living conditions of the bushmen who used to live here. Also staff working in the lodge was very attentative. All-in all a place we highly recommend if you want to combine luxury with the beauty of nature in a desert like environment. Sofia and Jan

Our recent safari at Evolve Back Kalahari was truly amazing. This private reserve benefits from using traditional Bushman techniques for wildlife tracking, making of every sighting a unique experience. Our guide, Zizie, and our tracker, Xhama, shared their deep knowledge of nature, making our journey truly engaging. Zizie and Xhama also introduced us to the San Bushman way of living, adding a fascinating cultural layer to our trip. This immersion gave us a deep appreciation for the region’s heritage and we were able to interact directly with the bushman. I can honestly say, it has been the safari of our lives and one of the most amazing experiences we have ever had. Evolve Back Kalahari’s hospitality is TOP. The lodge combines luxury with the natural environment beautifully, with spacious, comfortable rooms. The staff’s warmth and dedication were evident from the start, and the food was a delightful mix of local and international cuisine. We can not wait to go back soon!!!

We ended our safari at Evolve Back. We had been to three camps with twice a day game drives and chasing hunting packs. Evolve Back is unique. The beauty of Evolve Back is the Southern Hemisphere Sky. I miss seeing the stars since we live in the city where the ambient light masks the beauty of the night sky. This lodge is specifically designed to give the guest the full view of the night sky. Each of the guest rooms is set far apart. This design prevents noise and light pollution(other than animal sounds.) Every stunningly beautiful “cabin” has its own “tree house.” It has a bed in the treehouse and you can sleep under the stars. What a treat! The lodge has an excellent staff of friendly welcoming people lead by Atomic. The chefs are first rate. We had a cookout in the Bush after visiting with the San. Evolve Back offers a full spa. We had massages and their masseuse is excellent. We ended our safari there and if I had it to do over again I would focus on the SKY and the San. Zizie our guide, knows the sky and standing in the pitch black of the air strip with the animals kept at bay by Xama and his light is an experience. We studied the Southern Cross, Scorpious and the Milky Way. It’s a sensory heightening experience to be out of the truck (standing next to it) and looking up into the sky with Zizie and the wildebeasts. When we heard the lions roar we got back into the truck fast! The lion was some distance off but we moved quickly nonetheless. I think I would focus my attention on hanging out in the lodge, seeing Kudu, zebras, impala at the watering hole and the resident honey badger that comes in the evening, eating, getting a massage, resting and save myself to view the night sky. Evolve Back was the only place on our safari specifically designed to safely enjoy the sky.
