Hiking & food - both outstanding!
The setting is so much nicer that in town Gatlinburg - a 30 minute to an hour stroll on the grounds is very relaxing & the national park is just 5 minutes away. Make reservations for dinner when you book your stay -the food is great & they can book up.
Super clean. No signs of wear and tear. The mesmerizing view of Mt. Le Conte from the rocking chairs was worth the stay ! Plenty of areas inside and out to find your peaceful place. We were disappointed in the evening meal entrees. Though quantity was more than ample, our...

Plenty of areas inside and out to find your peaceful place. We were disappointed in the evening meal entrees. Though quantity was more than ample, our tuna and prime rib were both overcooked, dry and tough.
Loved the labyrinth. Staff were consistently attentive and engaging. Would stay again, but might take a supper or two in town.

Such a great, relaxing atmosphere out of the hustle and bustle. Food and service is outstanding. It was cozy to see the snow outside. My two takeaways are, food was always hot and the staff were so friendly. This was our second trip here and have another one planned.

We had a very nice and comfortable stay. Good location on the Artist Loop.
Two things to consider: there wasn’t a walk in shower. There was a beautiful jet tub but could be challenging for some to get in and out of.
Secondly, the tip charge for staff is automatically added on to the bill. This should have been transparent on the website or in the information you are given as we did not expect an amount to be charged without our knowledge. We did plan on tipping on our own of course.

It is absolutely a treat to stay at The Buckhorn Inn. From the owners to all of the staff, wonderful service is the rule of the day. You will always feel special there. The accommodations range from 5 rooms and 4 suites in the inn, 7 cottages, and 3 houses. My husband and I have stayed in 2 of the regular rooms, 3 of the suites, and all 7 of the cottages. All of them are comfortable and beautifully decorated with gorgeous views of mountains or scenes in nature. When we stayed in one of the suites, a male cardinal sang to us from his perch in a nearby tree every day of our stay. Breakfast is included with a reservation, and we always add the dinner for our stay; both meals are gourmet delights. We have been enjoying this marvelous destination several times a year for 13 years. You, too, will be a repeat visitor if you go that first time.

The Buckhorn Inn exceeded all of our expectations! My husband and I chose the Great Smoky Mountains for our vacation this autumn after passing on it for our honeymoon last year. We knew we wanted to stay somewhere convenient to all the best hikes but away from the hustle and bustle of the Gatlinburg strip. The Buckhorn Inn turned out to be the best accommodation we could have asked for! The service, the food, the atmosphere, the location, and the views are all worth it! My husband said the best part of the whole trip was the complimentary breakfast at the inn. Our room was beautiful and comfortable with a plush king bed and plenty of space. We stayed in Traditional room 4. It is also worth mentioning the timing of our trip. We went September 28th through Octover 4th. Too soon for the peak fall foliage but just right to miss the crowds (seriously - there were no lines for anything at Dollywood). This also happened to be the week after Hurricane Helene wreaked havoc through eastern Tennessee and western North Carolina. We were hesitant to go as the National Park Service warned visitors to reschedule. We called the inn before leaving our home and they assured us the inn did not suffer any significant damage as the storm skirted Gatlinburg. Of course they advised us to contact local authorities to ensure our route would be safe. After doing our research, we felt comfortable going ahead with our trip. Parts of the national park were closed for several days but we never ran out of things to do! Even a couple days on the grounds of the inn would've suited us just fine. It is a truly beautiful retreat and we can't wait to go back!

This property has glowing reviews, absolutely my husband and I were very excited to be going. We booked 10 months prior to arriving. But then Hurricane Helene caused havoc in the USA. A 100 year phenomenon when it comes to hurricanes. YES, the hurricane was not to hit Gatlinburg, but major rain, flooding and tornado watches were in effect. We were driving an economy rental car. We called the owner, she said she was unaware of the storm, said we were over acting, said she had lived there 25 years ago and no flooding there. She would not work with us. We chose the safe route and did not go. We reached out requesting a refund, as we had to know pay 4 nights somewhere else do to this storm. She ignored our calls and put through all the money, including the taxes?!? Seriously! She is a piece of work. As I read back through her reviews, she has other similar ones. If you end up there she likely has a beautiful place, but in any rare emergency situation, her actions appear heartless and only out for the dollar in her bank account. I can’t support a business like this.

The Buckhorn Inn has become our “go-to” when visiting the Smoky Mountains from our home in Atlanta. The setting is private and peaceful with great mountain views. The rooms are charming, clean and comfortable but I think it’s the friendly staff and unique dining options that makes the Inn so special. A full, sit-down, “from the menu” breakfast is included in the room rate and an elegant 3-course dinner is served for only $40 per person. The staff graciously accommodates special requests and dietary substitutions. We have always enjoyed visiting the Smokies but now we specifically look forward to visiting the Buckhorn Inn. Note: The location is very convenient to the Greenbrier and the Sugarlands entrances to the National Park.
