We enjoyed our stay. Loved the overall vibe and met a lot of nice people. The Italian food was amazing and we haven't stopped talking about it even weeks later. Staff were great except the snotty girls working in the casino that never talk to you but stare at you and talk about you to one another. We will return for sure. I have a few complaints. Beach towels were hard to get every day. Constantly ran out. Absolutely hated not being able to make dinner reservations and waiting an hour every time you're ready to eat. So annoying and unprofessional for an upper class resort. The steak we ordered at the steak house was garbage. All fat, gross. Thank God they had the Italian though, I'll probably return just for that lol

Thuscwas ny 2nd tine here...Our room had electrical issues our light on the back porch didn't work and they had to come fix it. Our Jacuzzi tub also didn't work? And they had to come fix it, we had a swim out room that was absolutely beautiful. One of us got sick. I called housekeeping, and when they came, I showed them what needed clean, they did not do it. That was very upsetting. There were some spring breakers on the resort. They were quickly handled when they got rowdy. But other than that, it was beautiful, the food was amazing. They do rush you at the hibachi restaurant and I do not think that is very kind when you consider. There's a lot of older people that go there, too. The drinks were strong. I will say this even when you tip. Well, they don't always come back to you. It's very disheartening. There was someone missing in the dominican republic at that time period so it was kind of scary out there, but we walked up the beach to get massages, and it was very nice. The beach was clean

We had a great experience at this hotel. It was our first time in the Dominican Republic. All the staff were super friendly and all seemed so happy in their jobs. Our room was very spacious with an enormous comfy bed. The resort was very clean. I think I only saw 2 bugs in the whole 10 days we were there! The food in the buffet restaurant was excellent. The only complaint was if you wanted a drink other than coffee from a jug, the wait was too long. Also the banquet seating is very low unless you’re over 6ft! We enjoyed most of the individual restaurants especially the French one where you can have a beautifully cooked fillet steak. It was also great to have the choice of walking to the Dreams resort next door where there are also some good restaurants. The entertainment was pretty good . Live musicians in the Wink bar. Group Dance lessons were fun! Also live music by the pool. The pool could get noisy at times (sometimes just down to loud Americans!) but there were quieter options to be had. I was disappointed not to have cushions on the sun beds. It’s usually a given in a 5 star hotel and they were not very comfortable. The beach was stunning, crystal clear water, just beautiful. All in all a great holiday.

Pleased to report back after our first all-inclusive experience that these folks crushed it. We had no idea what to expect and tbh based on a lot of all-inclusive scammy properties out there, we were rather apprehensive - thrilled to say that was completely unwarranted. I even noted before our stay that many 5-star reviews were from new users, which made me wonder whether they were fake -to the contrary, seems that this property is actually just great enough to convince folks to write their first review.
The crown jewel at this property is the staff. Every single person with whom we interacted was laser - focused on improving our stay in any way they could.
Globalist recognition is off the charts here. Our concierge/butler Jesus managed to find us everywhere and was so kind about making reservations, figuring out what we needed or wanted at any moment, and making things happen for us.
The food/alcohol was much better than what we expected from an all-inclusive.
Tip: hibachi grill is slammed but worth it, make resos ASAP. Only minor complaints are here, grill was understaffed and tough to get drinks quickly unless you stick to house wine (not the server's fault, who was hustling a lot but was assigned too much stuff for too many people).
It is true that the rooms and property overall are dated; however they are well-maintained and meticulously clean, so perfectly serviceable in our view.
There are some marketing folks pitching something (time share?) after you check in, which was unappreciated and best ignored, but in the grand scheme a minor inconvenience.
Overall excellent property, we will be back.

The best part of the stay was the staff, most were incredibly nice, happy and helpful. However, the resort itself was not nice. Day one room one, we just got in after not being able to sleep for 24 hours and we were put right next to a pool party that was booming. The sheets were dirty and so was the floor. We called the concierge who came and took pictures of dirty sheets and floors, and then they moved us to the Xhale club area. Room was fine except the door locked. Didn’t work properly from the start so at 11 o’clock at night when we wanted to go to sleep, we couldn’t lock the door and had to wait for them to come and try to fix. Of course, not only could they not fix it They were unable to access it themselves meaning we had to be here if we wanted housekeeping or any other service because they could not get in. This included their management. So room number 3 ! Room was fine, except it was impossible to get housekeeping to fill the body wash in the shower, we were forever asking for body wash, and they just kept bringing us bars of soap, clearly a breakdown in language. Assistant manager got involved who was very nice and they eventually moved us to a double room suite with an ocean view. This room was much nicer, although not to the standard it should be. Value for money is definitely not worth it if you pay for this. Again, more problems, body soap and shower was almost always empty despite asking many times for them to fill it. We took plenty of pictures and sent it to the concierge. The other issue is we kept having to ask for coffee every single day, it seems to be a chore to get what you need at this resort. The food was terrible at best, we opted to go next-door to the dreams resort where food was better but not great. There were days that the buffet was great and days where it was terrible. There is also a marketing ploy to try and get you to sign up for Their vacation club which no one likes to deal with especially for their measly $100 gift. Fortunately, we were able to avoid it after having nothing but problem after problem.. They did make us sign every single time we moved rooms to say we wouldn’t sue them which we found to be very odd, and not once did they give us a copy of what we signed. The worst part was probably the crappy excursions that are not worth the money, although I’m sure some people enjoy them. If you are well traveled don’t be fooled, hey are awful. Stick with the Excellence or other resorts that are well known. The attached picture is of a steak from their $300 romantic on the beach dinner. Unfortunately, it rained the night we were supposed to do it however, the place they put us was not romantic, and the food was quite honestly worse than the buffet. As you can see my steak was nothing but fat. Fat adds flavor but not in the DR.

We had an absolutely amazing week at Breathless!! This was our first time visiting Punta Cana and we definitely come back. Our concierge Emilo went above and beyond to make sure we were happy and had what we needed. We enjoyed getting to know him over the week! Jennifer was our favorite pool server. That girl works hard all day to make sure everyone is happy! Chris Brown on the entertainment team kept us laughing all week!
We upgraded to xhale and would absolutely recommend that to just about everyone. The upgraded liquor made it worth every penny. Every morning we stopped by the Xhale lounge for top shelf drinks and shots of espresso. The drinks at the lounge are 1000% better than at the pool or other bars. We liked our swim out room but not sure we would book it again as we didn’t use it much. We loved all the activities and entertainment. Honestly all the shows were very good and the live music poolside had us dancing in the pool! Food was mostly impressive, better than I anticipated.
I would recommend this resort for anyone looking for a lively resort, with endless things to do. There is definitely a party vibe but it’s not chaotic. It was perfect for us! We really enjoyed having access to Dreams Onyx and went over for a few meals and hit up the water slides a few times. There is not much else outside of the resort in this area so excursions are somewhat limited. We took a taxi to Macao beach and had a great day!
We will most definitely return to this resort! We had an amazing time!!

Looks Fancy, Feels Ghetto – Bad Food, Weak Vibe, and a Busted Beach

My wife and I recently stayed at Breathless Punta Cana to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We got married in Punta Cana years ago and wanted to come back for a fun, full-circle kind of trip. Unfortunately, this wasn’t the high-end, adults-only experience we expected. It fell short in a lot of ways.
Check-In & Concierge
We booked the Xhale Club, and check-in was smooth. Our concierge, Joel, was great. He was very responsive over WhatsApp, helped us with a few reservations, and checked in with us daily. That part of the service felt polished and appreciated.
Food Quality
The food at Breathless is honestly some of the worst I’ve had at a resort. Most of the restaurants served bland, low-quality meals. Room service had maybe five items total (we tried the pizza—tasted like cardboard). The only reliable food was the Barefoot Grill by the pool, serving burgers and fries.
We finally discovered later that Xhale Club guests can eat at Dreams Onyx next door. Total game-changer. We had two great dinners there. The Blue Water Grill and Capers (Italian) were both excellent. The food there was miles ahead of Breathless.
Drinks & Xhale Bar
Xhale Club includes premium liquor, but seems like there’s no real enforcement. Anyone can just walk into Xhale Club and help themselves, even if they didn’t pay for the upgrade. There’s no wristband or ID check, so it felt like we paid for something others got for free.
Pool Parties & Nightlife
The “party pool” kicks off in the afternoon with a DJ, except there’s no real DJ, just a guy standing there on his phone pressing play on a playlist. Not much energy. Worse, the main bar at the party pool had a terrible smell, which made it hard to relax or hang out there.
The Endzone nightclub was a huge letdown. No DJ again, just the same old playlist with cringe songs like the Wobble and YMCA. It felt more like a high school dance than a luxury club. Most of the crowd was barely 18 (many likely came over from the family resort next door), and the whole vibe felt rowdy and trashy, not classy or upscale.
The Overall Crowd
This was a big one for us. The overall crowd at Breathless leaned more ghetto and low-class than what you’d expect at a luxury resort. We’re all for a good party, but we like it balanced with quality and good energy and this wasn’t it. It felt more like a cheap spring break scene.
The Beach? Forget It.
The beach was unusable. Covered in thick, smelly seaweed. They had tractors trying to clear it, but it was nonstop. No one was on the beach because it reeked. We were told this is common in summer months, but it was still disappointing. When you book a Caribbean trip, you expect to enjoy the beach.
Water Warning – Important!
Use bottled water to brush your teeth. They don’t tell you this when you check in, but the tap water can cause traveler’s diarrhea. Friends warned us before the trip, and when we asked, the front desk casually confirmed it. This should be made clear to every guest upon arrival.
Staff & Energy
Besides a few awesome team members (shoutout to Murphy, Felipe, and Juan Carlos at the Xhale Bar), most staff seemed pretty checked out. No energy, no smiles, just not engaged or friendly. Definitely not the 5-star service we’ve experienced at other all-inclusives.
Timeshare Pressure
After check-in, they send you a letter telling you to pick up “resort coupons.” In reality, it’s just a setup to push you into a timeshare-style presentation. Say no, and they’ll keep bugging you. Say no enough times, and they get noticeably rude. Not how you want to spend your vacation.
Final Verdict
The resort looks high-end, but the experience doesn’t match. Between the bad food, beach conditions, disappointing crowd, and lack of true service, it’s not a place we’d return to. The best part of our stay was eating at Dreams Onyx, which only made us wish we had stayed there instead.
Save yourself the frustration and book Dreams Onyx next door or try another resort instead. You’ll get better food, a better vibe, and a way more enjoyable stay

The weather was beautiful, but just be careful about the resort you stay in. I stayed at Breathless Punta Cana, the rooms were not the cleanest and that outdoor hot tub was just nasty. The little lazy river (they call a swim out) was laughable. Two of my biggest gripes were they constantly played music with the n word blaring. Forget about the tv service as the tv’s did not work the entire time we were there. Just overall a disappointment and will be careful where I vacation the next time.
