We stayed in February and had a junior suite with a tropical view. My friends had a swim up pool room which was nice to have, but I didn't feel that I missed out on anything by not renting a swim up pool room. We also flew on Frontier Airlines, and I was very impressed with the fight and service. Our room was clean and had everything we needed. There were some issues with the TV's in our group and others, but we finally got all our TV's working. This resort is really big so there will be long walks but it's great exercise. The swim up pool areas are very nice, especially if you want a quieter swim space and less people. If you end up with a room that is poolside, be aware it is very loud. The music at the main pool is ok for a day but day after day of the same music gets a little tiring. Getting to the beach is a nice walk and the beach is fantastic! We did Zumba, participated in other beach activities. Be aware there is alot of coral in the water and it can be painful to step on. I should have brought water shoes. I do feel some upgrades definitely need to happen but overall, we had a great time and we would go back. This resort is adults only and there was a wide age range.
Great food! Fun & Sun, pools, beach, access to Dreams, bottle water, sodas, beer in the fridge daily. This trip was definitely worth the money.

Victor gave "super magnifico" service to our Canadian family sitting at the corner of the bar. From the very first moment, he was incredibly attentive, friendly, and genuinely caring.
Thank you, Victor, for the ice-cold Heinekens and all those fantastic cocktails you crafted with such passion. Thanks to you, we discovered an absolute favorite: the gin and tonic with pepino (cucumber) — refreshing and delicious!
You truly made our evenings special and memorable. Exceptional service, great energy, and a big smile every time. Bravo, Victor! We’ll definitely be back. 🍹🇨🇦✨

Overall, the experience at Breathless was good, with a few hiccups. We'd booked an Xhale club pool view junior suite, however there was no pool view only a view of the various roof pathways that line the pool areas, we'd not noticed this until we were all moved and settled. Paying for a pool view and not getting it was a big disappointment. Otherwise the Xhale club package is a good investment as you receive access to Xhale club lounge/bar, pool and preferred beach, chair, and drink beach service. Breathless overall provides daily activities at all pools and nightlife. All restaurants were 1st rate with food selections, and service, additionally the ability for dinner/refreshment at Onyx (next door property) is a big plus! Our concierge, Joel was attentive and did all he could to make our stay delightful. Some things to consider: Excursions are more efficient (and less expensive) to book in advance through Trip Advisor. Onsite at Breathless: people save their lounge chairs poolside or beach lounges early in the day (we learned this after day 1); there a multitudes of beach vendors walking and asking if you're interested in their wares, they are respectful - but oh boy, too many!!!

Breathless Punta Cana is an amazing resort! The staff are very friendly and helpful. With the variety of activities there is always something to do. If you are looking for a more relaxing experience the beach is amazing and even though I didn't use the spa heard nothing but great things.

For those wanting a quick assessment of Breathless Punta Cana, we can say it is great! We went for 11 nights and had a wonderful time. The staff were great, the food was delicious and plentiful, the grounds are beautiful and very well maintained. Everything is very clean. Nightly entertainment was very good, but only had a 7 night cycle, so if you stay longer, expect repeat shows. Having access to Dreams Onyx next door is a nice perk too. If you want the nitty gritty details (and especially if you are Management reading this) Read on!
We have been coming to Punta Cana since 2019 and have tried different resorts in that time. We have stayed at Excellence properties, Grand Palladium and Serenade Adults All Suites the last 2 years. For a number of reasons we were looking for a new place to stay. Excellence is no longer in our price point and Grand Palladium wasn’t just what we were looking for. Serenade All Suites (adults only) was brand new when we went the first time. We had a very nice time there but as a new resort, they were still working out kinks. We posted a very detailed review and a number of things were acted upon (better lighting in Stairwells, handrails to get into and out of the pool, and improved house wines. However, a number of issues persisted. You had to make reservations at a La Carte restuarants and the App often didn’t work, or if it did, you might arrive at the restaurant for your reservation to find it closed. While reviews for the resort continued to be consistently good, we decided to try a new resort this year. We chose Breathless Punta Cana, and we’re very glad we did. While we weren’t planning to, at the time of booking, only rooms in the “Exhale Club” category were left, so we booked one of those.
Upon arrival we were greeted with refreshing cold towels and Prosecco. Our bags were tagged and we were promptly shuttled to the Exhale Club lounge on the West side of the resort for check in. Check in went smoothly, but we did have to endure a sales pitch to try to upgrade our room which we declined. Once checked in, we were met by our guest services ambassador (our term, the resort called him a “Butler” which he clearly wasn’t). Alexander took us to our room, and gave us a quick tour, showed us how everything in the room worked, and explained the extra/unique privileges that came with our Exhale Club room (2 separate lounges, dedicated area//bar on the beach, a la carte restaurants for breakfast and lunch). He also gave us his contact info so that we could keep in touch with him and he would message us daily or look for us in person to check in and see how our time was.
We went for a quick explore of the (quite large) resort grounds to get a lay of the land and figure out where everything was. There are two large Pools; each one with it’s own swim up and walk up bar; the pool closer to the lobby was clearly identified as the “Party” pool and had music thumping from 10 am to 7 pm. The pool closer to the beach was more relaxed but also had music playing, and hosted activities (volleyball, aquafit sessions) daily. The beach was the quiet(er) zone. No music except for 1 hour of Yoga on the beach in the morning, just the sound of the surf. There were lots of loungers and Palapas available on the beach and at the pool. We never had an issue getting one we wanted, although despite there being a “no reserving loungers” policy, it clearly wasn’t enforced, so if you wanted a specific spot on the beach or by the pool you had to get your towels and beach bag on them early in the morning.
Restaurants: There are 7 a La Carte restaurants (Italian, French, Culinaria (Continental), Silk City (Asian) The Strip (steak house), Soffrito (latin) and Kibbeh (Mediterranean). The latter two restaurants were closed (? For renovations?, we didn’t actually see any kind of activity in either spot) which was a bit disappointing. There is also Spoon the main buffet and The Nook (Coffee and pastry shop). There is also 24 hr room service. The food is amazingly fresh, the buffet offers a great variety of healthy choices for those who are wanting to avoid a heavy meal. The Spoon Buffet operates at breakfast, lunch and dinner and was great. Breakfast features all you could really want, cooked to order egg/omelette bar, fresh bread, rolls, bagels, cereals (hot and cold), bacon, sausages, freshly made waffles and pancakes, pastries, salads, cheeses, cold meats, and fresh fruit etc. Mimosas, or any other kind of drink of course.. At lunch and dinner, the buffet again featured all you could want. Cooked to order Pasta, Pizza bar; Seafood, including freshly grilled to order fish, a stir fry station, Burger (beef and chicken) bar, hot dogs, every kind of side/vegetable you could want, salad bar, and hot and cold desserts. On Tuesdays at dinner, they featured a Mexican theme. The food was amazing, we opted to go there for dinner both Tuesdays that we were there. For Exhale club members, breakfast buffet and a al carte lunch was available at The Strip which is closer to the beach and the Exhale Club rooms. We ate most of our breakfasts there, and lunch a few times. The most popular spot for lunch however was the Barefoot Grill, which is located by the beach. Here you could get, freshly made pizza, grilled chicken, burgers, chicken burgers (my personal favourite), fries, hot dogs, made to order Panini’s, salads, Nachos, and Ice Cream.
We ate at all of the a la carte restaurants (except for Kibbeh and Soffrito that were closed) at Breathless and Coquette (French) twice. The food at all of them was fresh, beautifully presented with generous portion sizes and arrived promptly and nice and hot. The nice perk of staying at Breathless, is that you have reciprocal privileges at the Dreams Onyx Resort next door which is family friendly. Alexander, our guest service ambassador and a number of other staff recommended we try the Italian and Steakhouse restaurants at Dreams which we did. Both were excellent, but we couldn’t say they were superior to their counterparts at Breathless. We liked the “no reservations’ approach at Breathless (and Dreams Onyx) a la carte restaurants; mostly because we had issues with ‘reservation systems’ at other resorts we have stayed at. About 50% of the time, we were seated as soon as we arrived. The other times we were given a pager and had to wait between 15-45 minutes to be seated. The staff had a drink in your hands within minutes making the wait more bearable. Part of the issue with wait times might have been the timing of our trip, or a new travel trend. We were an adult couple, and while there were a lot of other ‘couples’ at Breathless, there were also a surprising number of folk traveling in groups. We saw at least 2 groups of young ladies that were on a Bachelorette Trip and 1 group of young gentlemen that were on a Bachelor party trip; but encountered lots of other people that were traveling as groups of 4-14 people. I think this posed a bit of logistic issues for staff at restaurants when these groups would show up and all want to be seated together. It also resulted in some very unpleasant moments when the ‘spokesperson’ for a group would get verbally abusive with the hostess for telling them that they would have to wait for their group of 12 to be seated. There’s zero excuse for this type of behaviour in our opinion. We reported incidents like these to resort/restaurant managers or through Alexander our guest service ambassador. Hopefully, management was/is supportive of their staff, and can initiate a zero tolerance policy for abuse of their staff (up to and including blacklisting/banning guests from returning). The one thing I in particular noticed that was different at Breathless than at previous resorts is that no ask or offering was made to purchase a bottle of wine with your dinner. In this digital age, menus come via QR code to your phone, which is fine. There is a small button on the menu page for wines, but it’s easy to miss, and we were never asked by a waiter if we would like to purchase a bottle of wine other than what was offered as house wine. In our entire stay, we didn’t notice anyone with a bottle of (purchased wine) on their table. To management: that is lost revenue. Also to management; as a wine enthusiast/collector of 32+ years, to be blunt the “House” wines (red and white) are NOT GOOD. They have not been good at any resort, so don’t feel bad. My suggestion, dump your current house wines, look at the Cono Sur range of products and/or Casillero del Diablo range of products from Chile. With volume buying, you will likely pay less than $1 more/bottle than currently and will get a much superior wine and happier guests!
Bars: The bars and bartenders are great. Service is quick and the drinks/pours are generous. As Exhale Club guests, we also had access to two Exhale Club lounges that offered premium drinks/spirits. There is an Exhale Club bar on the beach and there is a Exhale club Bar (Abyss) on the far west side of the resort, by the quiet Exhale Club pool. There are plenty of poolside and beach servers to bring you a drink. The service from these folks is excellent.
Entertainment. There was live entertainment at the main lobby bar (Wink) every evening, and some type of show in the Central plaza every night. As mentioned earlier, the shows repeat on a 7 day cycle, so if you’re there more than 7 days the shows will repeat. You can also go over to the shows at Dreams Onyx but we ended up not doing that.
Property/Rooms: As mentioned, the property is beautiful, and the rooms are large and comfortable with nice balconies. The in room safe is pretty standard these days, the mini bar fridge was well stocked, and we were able to personalize the contents. Not sure if this personalization is an Exhale Club room perk or not, but we did opt to change up the bar fridge contents and our requests were met.
Safety: The resort is remarkably clean, the tiled paths and pool decks are scrubbed daily. Just be aware of wet tiles and wear gripped sandals. There were uniformed security personnel on the beach. Like every resort in the Dominican, you will be approached by vendors selling excursions, sunglasses, crafts, cigars, photo ops with a parrot, monkey or Iguana, or massages. There is a spa on site, but it’s quite pricey. We spoke with a lot of folks who walked west along the beach past the next resort (Secrets/Tides) to a small beachfront shopping area (JC Penny LOL) where they got a 1 hr massage for $50 USD and said the massages were awesome.
The beach is large (Property sits on a bit of a point) with beautiful sand. A few more Palapas wouldn’t hurt, but we didn’t have an issue finding a place to lounge either on the beach or poolside. In previous years we encountered a lot of Sea Grass (Not seaweed) which comes in cyclical waves, and is ecologically important for marine life, but it’s still not pleasant to look at or wade through into the ocean. There was much much less of it this year and staff did a great job keeping the beach clean of it. The entire Dominican Coastline is public property so you can walk the beach for miles/as far as you want with no issue whatsoever. You will encounter vendors along the way wanting to sell you things but we found them to be quite pleasant, and if your say "no thank you" they will leave you alone.
.
Activities: The staff provided a daily range of fun things to do. Yoga, water aerobics, Meringue/Salsa dance lessons poolside, beach and pool volleyball. The aerobics and beach volleyball seemed to be particularly popular.
There is WiFi throughout the property. Not super fast, but not terrible.
The Staff: The Staff at the resort are great! Every one of them is trying their very best to make your stay enjoyable and (pleasantly) memorable. Being an established resort, staff are well seasoned/experienced. As mentioned earlier, while not a common occurrence, we did notice some guests being rude/abusive to staff which there really needs to be zero tolerance for in our opinion.
Special shout outs to: Alexander our guest services ambassador/concierge, Yasmelleiny & Maribi at The Nook café; Yoveidi our hostess at The Strip and Coquette restaurants. Waiters Eziekiel at The Strip and Joanny at Coquette and Osmarlyn the bellman who looked after our bags.
We look forward to seeing you all next year!

While I can’t profess perfection, I would return. Biggest problem: lack of hot water around dinner time 2 of 5 days. No one else in our large group had the same problem. I also didn’t love the pillows… Too thick and only two per bed. Rooms also felt humid despite it not being humid outside. Lastly, you will hear late night noise in the hallways which happens once a night.
We came for a wedding and it was lovely. Water Zumba was a blast. The buffet was one of the best I’ve went to. 5 stars for variety, 4 stars for quality. I honestly can’t cheer the buffet enough. They had EVERYTHING! Definitely prefer it to Moon Palace Grand and Beaches Turks. That said, the à la carte italian restaurant was slow and served small portions. hibachi was fun but very loud. And very quick. They need you in and out to move on to next guests.
Sure, chairs looked taken by 10am BUT we always found something. And often in shade. Our favorite poolside spot was in the second pool closest to the beach off to the left under the bridge. The party pool definitely has energy if that’s what you want. Plenty of swim-up pools that are wonderful as well for a more quiet soak.
Favorite lunch spot… the taco truck by the gym over at Dreams. Speaking of Dreams Onyx (the family friendly sister hotel), they have a fun lazy river with slides that dump into pool. Swim up bar. Highly recommend for families and for a change of pace from Breathless.
Overall, I really enjoyed our stay. Beautiful landscaping. Loads of chairs everywhere to sit and relax. Hit the gym. Good food. Check schedule ahead. They had a white party one night and a neon glow party another. The staff is good about getting folks involved.
Plan to drink el Presidente if you want beer. They have very little else. Recommended drink: Miami vice.
Enjoy!

The hotel is beautiful. The beach is nice and the pools were fun. One pool was more of a party vibe but there was plenty of room to get away from the crowd. Our room was close to the night entertainment so we had to listen to bass thumping until about midnight but it’s something we expected.

visited Feb 2026 with my husband and kids 18 and 21. we booked xhale. arrived at breathless and they drove us via golf cart to the xhale check in, but they had our kids in building 2 and us in building 4, dropped us first and just drove off with the kids with little explanation. ideally we would have been in the same building at least and we asked about moving which of course was going to be into a more expensive room category. we stayed with our original room and made it work for the week. both rooms were nice, cleaned well every day, spacious, nothing fancy but comfortable beds and the AC worked well. no issues with hot water. the balcony door was extremely hard to open and close. safe worked as expected, mini fridge stocked each day with our requests and a note. we tipped the mini fridge and housekeeping staff daily. Spoon was easily the most underwhelming buffet we have ever been to at an AI, been travelling for a dozen years. Small and not a great selection of anything. French, Culinaria and Strip grill all good with French being the best. I've heard that butlers make reservations for dinner and have experienced that at every other resort we've been to, not here apparently, although I see others had better luck with their butler. Ours said no reservations, first come first served. we had luck and we're seated quickly some nights and others we had to wait. just wasn't what I expected. speaking of butlers, ours did send us a message each day with the activities and restaurant options, but I can access that on the app myself. I've read other reviews where butlers are making dinner reservations and reserving chairs at the pool, etc. I guess we just didn't luck out with that. xhale breakfast was lovely and one of the selling points for me. I have no desire to eat at the main lobby indoors for breakfast when I can enjoy my mimosa and see the ocean and feel the breeze. the xhale buffet was all you could want for breakfast. we also went there for lunch a couple of times between the barefoot grill and both perfectly good. we are early risers and were out by 730/8am so had no trouble getting a chair at the pool then. later might have been an issue. beach always had plenty of chairs. pools nice although we primarily stayed in the main pool and avoided the party pool. wow. if you had a room facing that pool good luck. way too loud and not good music. even if you're into that scene you couldn't have had a conversation with anyone 2.feet in front of you. the main pool got a bit rowdy near the bar but there was plenty of room for everyone as the pool is large. the xhale pools are super quiet if that's your desire, just hard to get a drink as not a lot of servers there. Towels plentiful all day long. the xhale lounge is useless for me as I was expecting it to have small snacks and sweets like the nook offered. we've been to Dreams, Secrets and Royalton resorts and have been in whatever their upgrade is and they have all had a huge selection of food to offer. would have been nice to grab something on your way up to the room before dinner or a small quick nibble instead of a big lunch and not have to walk all the way to the nook. we only went there in the morning for a specialty coffee and it was always good. beach was beautiful and no sargassum. walked in both directions for quite a distance. Tropical Treasures down the beach to the left is the place to go for a massage. excellent and at a fraction of the cost of the spa. We've never visited the same resort twice in all of our travels as we like to try new places, different countries but I don't know if I would recommend this because of the few shortfalls we encountered only because we have had better experiences elsewhere. Good, but not great.

We had an incredible stay at Breathless Punta Cana and a huge part of that was the amazing staff who went above and beyond every single day.
Gricelda – Personal Butler / Concierge
From the moment we arrived, Gricelda made the entire trip effortless. She checked in daily, handled every reservation quickly, secured great beach chairs each morning, and took care of all our requests without us ever needing to worry about logistics. Communication was constant and proactive — we never had to chase anything down. She anticipated needs before we even asked and always followed through. Because of her, we were able to truly relax and enjoy the vacation stress-free. Gricelda is organized, kind, and incredibly attentive. She genuinely elevated our experience and is one of the best butlers we’ve ever had at a resort.
Gregory – Food Concierge
Gregory was exceptional, especially with my gluten-free needs. He met us daily for meals, coordinated directly with the chefs, and made sure I could eat safely without stress. He even brought dessert directly to my table so I always had a safe option ready. This level of attention removed all anxiety around dining and let me actually enjoy the restaurants. His consistency and care made a huge difference in our trip.
Felix – Poolside Bar
Felix made the pool atmosphere fun and welcoming every day. He was fast, friendly, remembered our drinks, and always greeted us with a smile. Service never slowed down even when busy, and he consistently checked back to make sure we were taken care of. He added a lot of personality and energy to our afternoons and was one of our favorite people to see during the trip.
Overall, these team members made our vacation special and memorable. We would absolutely return because of the level of service they provided.
Upgrading to the Xhale Club at Breathless Punta Cana was worth every single penny.
We debated the upgrade before arriving, and after experiencing it, we would do it again without hesitation. The added level of service, attention, and exclusivity truly elevated our entire trip from great to exceptional.
The dedicated butler support alone made a huge difference. Having someone handle reservations, beach chair setup, daily check-ins, and special requests allowed us to fully relax instead of planning logistics. The Xhale Club lounge access was another major perk — it provided a quieter space, personalized assistance, and a more elevated experience overall.
What really made the upgrade shine was the personalized attention. From priority restaurant reservations to thoughtful touches throughout the stay, we consistently felt taken care of. It wasn’t just about upgraded amenities — it was about feeling like valued guests.
If you’re considering whether the Xhale Club is worth it, especially for a longer stay, special occasion, or if you appreciate attentive service, the answer is absolutely yes. It enhanced the comfort, convenience, and overall enjoyment of our vacation in a way that made the upgrade feel like an investment in a stress-free experience.
We would book Xhale again without question.

From upgrading our cabana to switching our reservations last-minute, he met every one of our requests with kindness and initiative. You can even snorkel from the beach and see so much sea life! This coupled with the attentive staff that were simultaneously kind and understanding for requests, they made this experience a truly one of a kind one. This is a resort that I would be proud to return to. I suppose our only issue was the random beeping from the air conditioning in our room (4133) that would occur from time to time, but this is more-so an issue for maintenance and was truly out of the staffs control upon our arrival. There is also a chance that we were doing something wrong with the AC that caused this, so this issue doesn't affect our experience in the slightest.
