The only thing I wish I could change would be the sunbeds around the pool seem to fill up by 07.30. Which is frustrating. Other than that it is perfect.

Return visit to a wonderful place and this time it has been even better than before. The hotel has a wonderful location, our sea facing room is spacious and well equipped, the food is so much better than usual all inclusive meals but the best feature of the hotel is its amazing staff. Nothing is too much trouble, they are all so friendly and frequently checking that the holiday is good and whether there is anything else they can do to help. Special mention goes to Rakesh the guest relations manager for arranging our room change (we wanted the same room as our previous visit) and Nicoletta who organised it. Ram has made sure the room is always well serviced and has amazed us with his towel creations, especially the dog, whilst in the restaurant Ben has waited on us like royalty and excellently anticipated all our needs each evening at dinner with Sheila looking after us at breakfast. We had a romantic meal at La Plage beach restaurant for our anniversary where Vishal looked after us and also a special breakfast well served by Govenden. There are also so many more staff who have been attentive but too many to mention by name. The piece de resistance though was an incredible meal cooked by Raghoobar and served especially for us at the chefs table in the kitchen - a meal worthy of Michelin stars and an unforgettable experience. As returning guests we have been made to feel extra special and it's difficult to know how they could improve on it for a future visit but I feel confident they somehow will and look forward to returning again.

A fabulous holiday with excellent staff ..
We were upgraded on arrival by Nicolette to a much nicer room .. that was wonderful .. food and drinks excellent .. we ate in the Italian restaurant Dolce Vita most evenings and lunched at La Plage restaurant ( on the beach ) . The main restaurant Indigo was fantastic for curries but had no air conditioning and was so hot that we preferred the a la carte restaurants.
Our favourite place to drink was the H and H bar with Simah who was the barman .. he was AMAZING and was so efficient, friendly and could make any cocktail that you wanted and we never had to ask for refills as he had already anticipated this and the next drink was ready and waiting . He is an absolute star and Ambre you need to recognise what a star he is .
All in all an amazing hotel and Mauritius is a wonderful place to visit and holiday .

Nice hotel very clean, every single staff member is lovely and very friendly, big massive shout out to a few a few staff members I’m so sorry I forgot there names but they was great including the hotel cleaners absolutely love everyone here. The entertainment isn’t the best but it’s ok. It would have been nice to have a games room or a pool table in the H&H lounge although there is a tennis court and a table tennis table and a gym. Having said that the food it absolutely tasty and fresh all restaurants was amazing, thank you guys

We had a great time here, over a four week period. Large garden room at one end of the resort (room 533). I liked that we were on the second floor. Room was very clean.
Sometimes they had a very odd way of making the bed with bottom sheet often not reaching the end of the bed by a good 20-30cm
However when in paradise, there's not many bad things
Loved Dolce Vita, big thanks to Natasha, who is lovely and was a great help every day there. Kunal, Kenny(very friendly and happy guy with a great sense of banter) and (Roop who just started there) are also worth a big mention.
We will definitely choose this restaurant.
Seafood/Lobster night was good, but if you don't have a large appetite, then would only do it once. Service there was also very efficient
Thought the house white (chantourin/blanc) a bit sharp and cheap, would have liked more choices on an all inclusive
There were very few (almost none, on our side of the resort as all the ground floor rooms with sea view removed them to their terraces, would also say that many of them were old and sagging. Those sun beds around the pool were very comfortable but tough to get after 7.30am
Main bar in early evening we thought although not busy (1830-1930) had very slow service and on a few days I ended up going to the bar to order.
Indigo had a good selection every day. The interior is very
much a bit like the school canteen for seating, so we always opted for the outside seating-Ben was great at looking after us there
If you wish to do Scuba Diving there's a great team at Dive Passion with over 40 years of experience between the 2 guys that run it (ben and Michell), Look at the sea, turn left and walk 800-900m. (there is another Padi place slightly closer, but we did not use them)
Some very good live entertainment most nights.
Prem on the beach serving drinks was brilliant
The gym team were very friendly, and looked after us very well
Have to say the team of gardeners who keep the place neat and beautiful should get a mention.
If you want cheaper taxis/trips then look at the sea turn left and walk just beyond the resort, they are all parked there
Enjoyed it so much we have booked a return for 2026 January/Feb for 4 weeks using BA

The staff were great. The facilities were good. The food and drinks ranged between fine and excellent! The rooms were spacious and clean although a bit tired around the edges, the air con in room was very good and much needed.
There were plenty of sunbeds and different areas depending on volume, shade, and whatever else you wanted.
The free water activities were a nice touch. There was table tennis, boules, and a few other games near the beach bar.
Please remember this is a 4star hotel not a 5. But I cannot fault it, it ticked all the boxes for the price we paid and was a thoroughly enjoyable holiday.
I will definitely return and would recommend it to others.

Just had a fantastic 2 weeks at the Ambre. A big thank you to all the staff who were so attentive, friendly and welcoming and made this holiday so special.
Loved the variety of food and especially enjoyed the seafood nights which were worth paying the extra for, especially for the lobster.
Our room was lovely, spotless and the fridge well stocked. We took advantage of the complimentary golf and free transfers ( charge only for buggies). The course was amazing but bring plenty of balls as you'll lose a few.
My partner required urgently medical attention while we there and the porters really looked after us, assisting with transfers around the hotel and organising transport to the medical facility. Also a big thank you to Soobash for looking after us and Wendy for checking we were OK.
We'll definitely be back!

Ambre is an all inclusive resort on a tropical island. If you are expecting 5 star luxury in terms of room, then don't go!
However at Ambre the location, the weather, the view, the facilities, the food are all 5 star - the service from most staff members is beyond that. I could write pages - it was our first time, but most certainly will not be our last, I am hoping we can go again next year - 'hot' weather in February when so cold at home is worth it on its own.
Make sure you go on the 5 Islands trip ! you will never get more value for money spent ! I personally recommend McCloud (Apollon tours) he is a gentleman and his boys Roddy & Dylan (Bob) are fabulous hosts and so much fun. (Many reviews mention Chris - he is pushy and underhand with his sales but you make your own choice at the end of the day, all trips visit the same places, but I know who I will go again with when we get back).
Food - where do I start - The Indigo is superb, Indian night was like being at home getting a takeaway ! Dolce Vita for lunch and dinner - staff amazing, setting amazing, food amazing and sorry I can't comment on the beach restaurant as we had so much fun at the others we never got there !
Drink - yep - lots of it, good quality and table, subbed, anywhere you were service.
Some shout outs for the staff that made our time memorable - Anisha - looked out for us for a table every night and went the extra mile on my birthday with decorations and cake ! Ras, Sanjiv, Roop, Desire, Pascal thank you. Promila - I will be in touch when we come back for a shirt ! Sebastian our pool side waiter, you were fantastic with the drinks service not just us but everyone in our area - I wish all the very best. there are many more that could be mentioned but I must finish with Viven the duty manager, helpful, attentive, professional, has an amazing team - gifts for all the staff on valentines day was a great touch. Thank you all ...until next time.

Rooms very tired and dated and in need of renovation. There is a blind in the bedroom that is constantly down…look behind it at your peril - it was filthy!
Toilet with separate bathroom tired and dated. Shower very difficult to regulate as leaking from the button to switch to overhead shower.
Our room was in the 600’s and most mornings woken by a reversing lorry beeping.
The food in indigo is seriously below par. There is a serious issue with flies - yes it is an open restaurant. But measures are not taken to prevent. Tables and placemats are wiped with a cloth only. No anti bacterial sprays are used. Food remnants are on the placemats attracting the flies. Flies landing on all uncovered food. Slow service for drinks, by the time they arrive your meal has finished.
Not once during our stay did we observe any fogging. I am an early riser, so was at the pool for 6am!
Again, the beach restaurant is plagued by flies landing on the food. After eating at the beach restaurant one of us became unwell with upset stomach/food poisoning. Resulting in losing 5 days of our holiday. This was reported to management, but only really acknowledged at checkout when we extended our room. Our feedback acknowledgement stated they were only made of the illness when requesting a late check out - this not the case! I had discussed with at least 2 managers!
Service at the bar was very slow, staff members too busy talking amongst themselves than serve the paying guest.
The sunbeds at the pool are so uncomfortable. They are in desperate need of cushioning. There was a light hanging out the pool which was concerning. You need to be at the pool by 8:30 to get a sunbed. There are lots of plastic chairs unused during the day on the patio area, that could be utilised for sunbeds. The chairs at the bar area could also do with cushioning. I understand that people may be wet from the pool, so bring them out in the evening.
Overall our experience at Ambre was very disappointing.

This was our third time at Ambre and this time we got married there too.
It has always been a wonderful place to come and relax with beautiful views and the fantastic Mauritian weather.
The hotel has everything you need to unwind and enjoy your time there. This is only made better by the ever-friendly and helpful staff that work there.
Particular mention must go to Alina, who co-ordinated our wedding, helped by the ever-smiling Samantha. It made it the perfect day for us both that we will never forget.
All the staff are great and apologies for not remembering everyone's name, but special mention must go to Karishma on reception, who helped book all the husband's golf trips to Ile aux Cerfs, Nikhil at the Ti-bar, Selven on the beach team, Anil, Heman and Deena amongst others helped make our stay absolutely wonderful from start to finish.
It is a place we would totally recommend, shown by the fact we have been 3 times and hopefully we can come back again and again.
Hubby says Ile aux Cerfs golf is like playing millionaire's golf, course wasn't crowded but was in fantastic condition and the views make it an experience that shouldn't be missed if you play. Take plenty of balls though!

Very friendly and helpful staff
Excellent location on the East Coast
Nice beach but could do with clearing flotsum and jetsum around the high tide area.
Rooms are comfortable.
The restaurants are good especially the Dolce Vita and the Plage.
All the staff are friendly and attentive
One of the best holidays we have had, the whole experience was very good and the staff were excellent, nothing was too much trouble. Good location, wonderful bay and bathing. From arrival to departure we had a lovely time, good choice of food and drink.
Wonderful relaxing time 2 weeks fantastic climate, amazing beach and great location. Ambre staff super friendly.
Excellent location at beautiful Belle Mare beach. Ambre ( second time here) provides all you need for a super relaxing time. All inclusive worth the money as it also includes water sports and golf at beautiful ILE AUX CERF ( Bernhard Langer Design) .

My wife and I visited this holiday resort on the 25th of February 2025 to celebrate our our wedding anniversary. I must say the hotel and all the staff went out of their way to support us to make our holiday a memorable and a pleasurable one. There was so much choice for food Whether it was for breakfast lunch or dinner there was plenty and plenty of choice for vegetarians especially if you liked your spicy curries and Indian bread. There was so much choice for pasta pizzas and sandwiches and salads to choose from. It’s a very relaxed environment and the Mauritian hospitality is Five star. Nothing was a problem. We want to mention Deena Brenda Sheilagh Nicolette balram and Vishnu. They all were outstanding.

We have had a wonderful 10 day stay at the Ambre. From the moment we arrived we had a friendly and personalised service. The rooms are large with everything you need including a huge comfortable bed, slippers and a minibar which was replenished daily. There was a great choice of good quality food available in the buffet restaurant and for lunch, the a la carte restaurant was superb and included in the AI tariff. The waiting staff were all efficient and friendly, in particular, Arvin, Ackian and Sheila gave outstanding service. The bar staff were attentive and helpful at both the bar and on the beach, in particular, Koshia went the extra mile by getting me a special drink on the beach. The lady who organises taxi's for the hotel was extremely helpful and efficient. The beach is stunning and definitely the best location in the area. We would love to return.

Am writing this on our last day on our honeymoon at this amazing resort. It’s very hard to find any fault with this holiday. The staff are very welcoming and kind. If you are on honeymoon do bring your wedding certificate as the hotel will offer you a fantastic free evening meal by the beach and breakfast in bed. The food is amazing with a broad range available. Please be sure to book ‘la dolce vita’ Italian restaurant at some point for an evening meal.
Also if you are considering excursions visit leena at the taxi desk as she offered far better rates than the reps and the guys selling on the beach.
The sports bar is great to watch any sport you wish and hopefully you’ll be lucky enough to be served by Silhan who remembers your drink all holiday, I’ve no idea how he does it.
If you prefer a beach holiday be sure to get your towels down around 7.30am otherwise you won’t get any shade.By far the best waiter is Jay (photo attached), he’s a great guy who also remembers what you drink all holiday.
Its worth using the free equipment on the beach as the resort has six turtles in the bay.
If you want the better rooms it’s probably best to ask for rooms in the 100’s as they are close to the beach and main area.
The only negatives are that the rooms could be modernised a little and the system of checking out if you have an evening flight could be improved because if you don’t negotiate a deal you either have to have a group room or you can only extend to 4pm at a cost of around £100.
But otherwise an amazing holiday and would thoroughly recommend a stay here

We came to Ambre to celebrate my birthday and a bit of relaxation and it didn't disappoint, in fact we would say it is the best all inclusive we've been to.
The infinity pool and view of the sea is absolutely mesmerising and we happily just stared out from our sunbed most days.
From the moment we arrived at 3am due to a flight delay, the staff couldn't do enough for us, they were so attentive and pleased to help.
Special mention goes to shubhan in the indigo restaurant who was fabulous, friendly, helpful, kind, and even arranged a birthday cake for my birthday and arranged for my husband to have gluten free pancakes every morning freshly made. In his words "you've paid the same as everyone else, so you should be able to eat what you want, let me know what and I'll arrange it".
Sheila in the indigo kitchen for making the delicious pancakes.
Raol (I think) and Dan in the Dolce restaurant who again were so attentive and helpful especially in terms of gluten free food.
Bar staff kept us hydrated well and we loved the 3pm popsicle treat!
Having the water activities, and free, was an additional bonus though we only got time to try the pedal boat and glass bottom boat tour as we were too busy chilling.
Massage was fabulous, the taxi lady was very helpful.
We were missing the place before we'd even got to the airport and we will definitely be back!

Very limited drinks and the food was not good at all.
The manager approached us and requested us to review our comment and rewrite something nice !
He even gave us an invitation thus they could get a chance to provide better service!!
Later when we called him he spoke very rudely and arrogantly to us.
I would never recommend that hotel ever.

Absolutely loved our holiday here.
We had a warm welcome from a lovely member of staff. I forget her name but maybe Vanessa. We were given a delicious cocktail whilst seated looking out over the pool and ocean. We had arrived early morning so we were invited to have our breakfast first. Then Rose took over and showed us to our room which was available ahead of time. Speaking to other guests, if the hotel can get you into your room ahead of time, they regularly do this; much appreciated after a long journey. Rose remembered our names and regularly asked how our holiday was going.
The hotel grounds are absolutely breathtaking.
The beach is beautiful soft white sand and the sea is warm as bath water and very clear. I enjoyed swimming in the ocean with my husband at least twice a day.
The pool area is also beautiful and clean and is close to the beach, giving you amazing views. Pool nice and warm. We only had a difficulty finding a sunbed where we wanted on one day which was Mauritius Independence Day. Every other day we found a well located sunbed around the pool or looking out to the sea near the bar area. We didn’t have to get up early for this. Usually it was around 9-9.30am.
The bar staff work hard to take your order at the sunbed and deliver them with a smile. Special mention to Kushal who worked extra hard and served most of our drinks - he was a grafter and was a lovely friendly guy.
We visited H and H bar a few times, the drinks were flowing there and your glass was always topped up or a new drink arrived in front of you without need to order. Special mention to the guy in the picture who made me special cocktails on my birthday; beautiful fruits cut into intricate designs were placed on the side of the glass and he made a mist filled bubble on top of some of them; it was very entertaining and it made my birthday.
The food was good, I enjoyed lots of fish dishes and healthy salads. If you like lamb and fish you will be happy. Unfortunately my husband doesn’t eat fish or lamb and sometimes struggled to find something suitable. I enjoyed fresh fruit, yogurt and cereals mostly for breakfast but you can get omelette freshly made and there was plenty of other dishes you can choose from. We ate in the Italian restaurant twice where the service was exceptional but the food a bit hit and miss.
Our room was large and had everything we needed, it was kept clean daily and we were more than happy with it. The view was of beautiful gardens with the sea in the distance. Wardrobe space was plenty. The shower was a good shower with good pressure and consistent temperature. Don’t expect modern newly refurbished rooms but anyway the place is so lovely that you won’t be spending much time in it.
Expect to be asked your room number every time you order. I think the hotel would greatly benefit from all inclusive bands because I got the room number the wrong way round after a couple of rum and cokes and my husband was asked to attend reception as they weren’t sure we had all inclusive status due to wrong room number. Cue mega anxiety moment by the pool for me, which wasn’t pleasant. Yes my fault but would be avoided if you had band system.
We went kayaking on the sea which was included and also went on the glass bottom boat, also included, there were other activities which we could have also enjoyed without charge
Recommend going on the five island catamaran tour organised by Chris which costs around £70 per person. Great food served, beer and rum flowing and you visit a waterfall, go snorkelling, swimming, see five islands and we also saw dolphins. Take fruit for the monkeys, don’t take croissants, I think Chris was having a laugh telling me to take those!
Highly recommend this Hotel.
All staff are warm and friendly and helpful and give excellent service with a smile.

We had our best time at Ambre, and this was our 1st international visit.
The bedrooms were a little less the 4 star, could not do my hair in the bathroom, because the plugs were not working in the bathroom.
The hotel, is beautiful and the service is top of the game.
The staff is friendly, those that can speak English 👌🏾, others they try.
A great return visit to a favourite hotel

We had visited the Ambre Mauritius 9 years ago, loved it then and visited all the usual "sights" but wanted to return to explore nature and hike, especially in the Black River Gorge. We really enjoyed Ambre the last time - it has such a lovely atmosphere, it's relaxing, in beautiful surroundings and the staff are amazing. We really enjoyed being able to eat outside (except when it rained!) and the variety of dishes available. The waiting staff in the main restaurant were fabulous, especially Sheila, Anishka and Ackash, and the food was plentiful and varied. We didn't visit the Italian restaurant due to dietary restraints, but to all accounts, it was excellent (and this came from some French visitors, known for appreciating good food!). We were invited to a special meal in La Plage - the menu suggested wasn't suitable due to the afore-mentioned dietary restraints, but when we arrived, expecting to eat from the basic menu, we were presented with special choices, the waiter going through the menu in great detail to ensure the food was suitable and, boy, was it delicious! We have never been treated with such consideration, especially from the main waiter - and the food was truly delicious.
Otherwise, we must praise all the staff in reception who were really helpful, especially Nicoletta, our cleaner Nirmala, and the lady who books the taxis who was really thorough - you were all totally amenable and professional throughout, as were the bar staff - whose mocktails were excellent! We also must praise the guides and taxi drivers we had for our excursions, especially those to the Tamarind waterfalls and the Black River Gorge.
Ambre may be remote, but you can make your holiday what you would like it to be from such a lovely relaxing base. The daytime vibe is total relaxation, everyone was respectful and friendly, the beach is beautiful for relaxing walks, and the evening entertainment was really very good. You all made our last really long-haul holiday something to remember - thank you.

A holiday at this establishment is a must. Total relaxation and great hospitality. Everything is so clean and tidy, with views to die for. The staff really make the place it is, cannot do enough for you. Thank you Natasha for everything you did for us. Will be back.

It is difficult to find fault with Ambre ,so why look when all said and done there is no need. There are several minor things to be aware of.
The hotel is remote and there is nothing local to walk to that is of interest. If you want to go out and explore each day then you can, but you will need to rent the bicycles that the hotel provides FOC or get taxis which are quite expensive. The hotel has kayaks , pedaloes and snorkels all FOC if you want to explore the crystal clear ocean. The beach is special with coral reefs just 100m out to sea. It would be wise to wear sea shoes in the sea as there are urchins and the rare stone fish lurking. There is a glass bottom boat that goes out several times day to view the coral reefs which is also FOC . If water skiing or being towed on a bouncy inflatable is your scene then that is available, but chargeable.
We expected that Mauritius to be a cheap country to visit but it is not. A taxi to the capital (1 hour away ) will cost around £100. We booked a driver and car for a day for £100 and he took us to several interesting parts of the island inc Port Louis. Really good value. Even better value is the 5-island boat trip. Costs about £80 pp and includes transfer from the hotel to the boats, several snorkel swims, BBQ lunch, as much rum as you can drink and meeting wild macaque monkeys plus more.
The hotel is a little tired but not that is so noticeable. Tourism is a major feature of the economy in Mauritius and is still recovering ground that was lost during the pandemic hence major refurbs are yet to be completed. The hotel is spotlessly clean and so much effort goes into keeping the pool, grounds and beach tidy. The beds are the most comfortable I have slept in on any holiday
The food is good . The quality excellent and there is plenty to choose from but a little less than at other hotels in different countries. There are 3 restaurants one of which is virtually on the beach. Scoring each meal out of 5; Indigo restaurant which is the main one -breakfast 4, lunch 3 , dinner 4. The Dolce Vita restaurant is a 5 for both lunch and dinner (no breakfast here). Lunch at the beach restaurant is a 4, we didn’t eat there for dinner as it just serves seafood, lobster etc which is chargeable and expensive (£70 pp) .
Good activities if you want during the day and fine musical acts at night. No loud music around the pool during the day. There are 4 bars and are all well serviced.
The highlight for us is the Mauritian people . The staff at the Ambre are incredible. We were asked to nominate 1 member of staff who made a difference to our holiday. We wanted to say all the staff because they did but noted Rati as she was better than excellent with service in the restaurant.
If this hotel is on your shortlist you will not be disappointed if it becomes your choice. It is special in all respects.

We have just returned from a 11 night holiday at Ambre. After a very stressful week in the run up to the holiday and having Air Mauritius cancel our return flight (the day before we flew out) the staff at Ambre made it all worth while....especially Rose who delt with our problems. Initially we had 10 nights booked by Hays travel in York through Tui but because our return flight had been cancelled Tui wanted to cancel the whole holiday.....thanks to the brilliant team at Hays travel York they said thats not happening and made sure our anniversary was special and rang Air Mauritius to organise a return flight ...this turned out to be 1 extra night of which we might have to pay for...no problem....Rose made sure all was well and invited us to have some food but due to the flight time and the stress we didn't....all we wanted to do was get changed and chill.....this we did and headed for the pool. As checking was 2pm it gave us plenty of time to unwind and soak up the glorious sun 28 deg perfect. 2pm came and Rose showed us to our room which was supposed to be a garden view..no we had been upgraded to a ground floor sea view which was spacious and equipped with air-conditioning a nice big Samsung smart tv stocked fridge and a nice big super king bed.
There is 3 restaurants giving a good choice of foods ...the buffet has themed nights which offers a different choice every day and there's an Italian and a sea front restaurant offering a good selection of foods. As we was all inclusive we had access to water sports ie kayak..pedlos..balance boarding snorkeling even a glass bottom boat ....
The beaches are great although 1 needed jelly shoes as There is a lot of broken coral the other is shallow to waist height and warm with lots of fish around from minows to about a foot long ...flounders and one or two trumpet fish...o and if you lucky you might see a few small turtles.
During the day you have people walking around selling items including jewellery .. clothing and hats ...these guys don't pester you like in Tenerife they are very polite and curtious...also there is excursion sales men selling day trips and very curtious and helpful....we used Chris for a 5 island tour on a speed boat...definitely well worth the money seeing Dolphins and Turtles and there's plenty of rum given out ..our captain was Kenny and it was his birthday so extra rum flowed to the extent my wife fell into his arms when getting off the boat 🤦♂️
Over all the holiday was what we had dreamed of for our wedding anniversary ...we had a special meal on the beach to celebrate it which was brilliant
We will definitely go back as soon as possible
We would like to give a special mention to the following for making our holiday so special
All the staff are brilliant and have a smile on their face all the time but Rose in reception ...Wendy.. Anesia and Sheila in the buffet ...Siham in the sports bar and a massive big thanks to Jay on the beach who looked after us all the time we was there serving nice cool drinks
A very special 40th Anniversary...thank you Ambre

This is our first time in Mauritius and at the Ambre . I'll tell you what it's really like instead of the ones where people look for any negatives. The Hotel is great . It's is as clean as any others I have been in around the world. You do get worried when you book a hotel as you are not sure how' it's going to be but you won't be disappointed here.We are All inclusive and the food and drinks are great . My advice is go All inclusive. The choice is varied . The staff are great too. They are so pleasant and helpful. The beach and Sea are some of the best I've seen. We went to Bali last year and the sea was full of litter . Mauritius is a world away from that . The room we had was clean and perfect for our stay .
If there is a negative it is the arrogance and rudeness of individuals staying here . They really need to go home and have a reality check. It's embarrassing.
Anyway, keep doing what you are doing Ambre and staff . Thanks for a great holiday .

Rarely write a review as people have such varied expectations when away however thought I’d take a moment to rate Ambre.
Spent 12 nights here and can honestly say it’s the most beautiful setting. White sand, crystal clear, warm water. Loads of sun-beds on beach and always plenty free any time of the day. Can’t comment on the pool as we didn’t go there but it did look quite busy.
Upgraded to a sea view room which was huge, kept very clean but could do with a bit of updating. I would suggest asking for a ground floor room as many on the first floor don’t have balconies. We arrived at hotel around 10am and were told the room wasn’t available until 14.00 so be prepared for a four hour wait to freshen up.
Found the staff to be very helpful but they need more. TI beach bar was basically manned by one person making drinks for people on beach as well as at the bar so did take a while to get anything.
The big let down was the food at Indigo restaurant. Very repetitive, poor choice, and the fresh meat and fish cooked in front if you was dry, tough and almost inedible. This then appeared in the many curries on the following day. I do like curry and they were very nice but not for lunch and dinner for 12 days. Again, more staff needed. Took a long time to order drinks and by the time they arrived we were halfway thru our meal.
Italian restaurant was nice, didn’t try the beachfront restaurant as we were told some people became poorly after the lobster night.
Did we enjoy our stay at Ambre, yes.
Would we recommend to friends, no.

Thanks to Mr Kunal in Dolce Vita Restaurant that made my wife's and my birthday, a very special evening by dining by the beachside. Like us if you go All inclusive then the boards and glass bottom boat trips are free. Amazing to see the turtles and exotic fish.
Staff are fantastic and nothing is too much, and local ppl are lovely and friendly. We hired a car for 4 days and got to see some amazing places. Wonderful views from our sea front rooms… bathing in the turquoise Indian ocean, only a few steps from your room is a dream. had a brilliant holiday thats to staff.

We have just returned from a 12 day stay, celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary, at Ambre hotel, Belle Mare. Overall we would rate our stay a 4 out of 5.
We loved: the location, the beach, swimming pool, a-la carte restaurants, entertainment team, water activities, attentive and very welcoming staff, massages at the spa
We were disappointed with: food at the buffet restaurant, outdated rooms, All inclusive doesn't mean everything is included (there are lots of supplement charges for drinks and food), not enough sun beds around the pool
We absolutely loved the setting, the sea was crystal clear and the beach was stunning (10/10). There were plenty of sun loungers on the beach front, but not many around the pool. Towels could be exchanged numerous times during the day, which was good. There were 2 bars within walking distance for drinks. There were also waiters walking around and serving drinks straight to the sun beds. The choice of drinks overall was quite good, but it was frustrating that on an All Inclusive package there were lots of drinks that were at a supplement charge. The bar staff overall were very attentive and friendly.
The food on offer was very mixed. The Indigo buffet restaurant was extremely disappointing with the range of food being very limited, especially at breakfast. There were very few salad/fruit options and the food on the whole was repetitive. There were two A la carte restaurants on site, La Dolce Vita - Italian, and la Plage - beach restaurant Mauritian cuisine. The food at the a la cartes was amazing and we ended up eating here every single day for lunch and dinner. There was a good of choice of meat, fish, veg dishes. Again it was a shame, as part of All Inclusive package, there were lots of dishes that incurred a supplement charge. We did opt for the upgraded options on several occasions and the food was delicious. The drinks were limited, especially the wine, which was disappointing. We did pay extra one night for a non-house red wine and it was a lot better.
We paid extra for a Deluxe sea view room but were disappointed with the room. The pictures on both Tui website and the hotel website are outdated and not a true reflection of what the rooms actually look like. The room was very tired and is in need of a serious refurbishment. We were originally checked into a ground floor room, which was very spacious but very dark and very outdated. We ended up changing rooms to second floor and this was a lot brighter, but again, nothing like the pictures on the website. The room was cleaned daily and the mini fridge was restocked daily with water, some soft drinks, beers and Kit Kats.
During our stay, we tried all the water activities on offer. Snorkelling was by far the best experience and would 100% recommend. The coral reefs were absolutely breathtaking and the variety of fish was beautiful. We also went on the 5 Island Speed Boat Tour, which cost 4,000 rupees per person and would 1000% recommend this tour.
We also had massages on the second day and we would 100% recommend the couples massage was just what we needed after our long flights.
ALL the staff at the hotel were all amazing and very helpful and attentive. They made the effort to learn our names and remember our drink orders, at bars and restaurants. The entertainment team was also very friendly and made everyone feel welcome, especially during the volleyball games. The staff at reception were also brilliant and very helpful. We were very grateful to receive a special dinner at La Plage for our anniversary as well as breakfast the following day in our room. The food was absolutely delicious and made the occasion very special and memorable.
We really enjoyed our first visit to Mauritius, had a lovely holiday and will definitely return in the future to explore the rest of the island.

Well what an amazing holiday my wife and I have had at the Ambre hotel in Mauritius,
We are both in our mid 60s and from the moment we arrived we were treated as if we had know the staff for years.
We have never been to a resort hotel were the staff are so welcoming and friendly,
The hotel is stunning, the only things I can say on a slight negative point, is the rooms do need a some what update, and the situation when you order any drinks etc on the all inclusive, they always ask for your room number, so if anyone is on half board and can hear you, there is the possibility of them using your room number to obtain additions for free against your room, as was the case when we checked out but this was identified, and was sorted immediately, so as a point to the hotel management, I think this should be looked into and come up with a more feasible way of preventing this.
we stayed in room 310 from 7th April for 10 nights.
Other than that we can not fault this hotel and its location, and amenities, and all the staff.
The restaurant staff, bar staff, gardeners are all so pleasant, in fact there was no one who never said hello as you passed them, and everyone had a smile.
We would like to thank a few staff members who went over board to make our stay so special.
Sheila, Kenny, Wendy, Deen, Visambal, Doobhas, and Kushall the amazing bar man who makes roses from napkins and puts on a straw for your wife's drinks.
Once again to all at Ambre, THANK YOU.

Our room was perfect for what we needed it for: great air con, nice big shower and bed and big wardrobe space. We found the food to be lovely. The buffet was fine but the food in the two restaurants was really good. Sheila helped us arrange to go to the seafood cook on the beach and that was incredible. Overall we couldn't fault our time at the Ambre.

Special shoutout to Natasha sister at Dolce Vita—she was so lovely and attentive and made every meal feel special. Also had the best time at Ti Bar thanks to Jay, Niteesh, and Calee—super friendly, great cocktails, and always a fun atmosphere.
One of the best parts was the free water activities—we went snorkelling, paddleboarding, and even tried out the glass-bottom boat. So much fun and a great bonus!
Couldn’t have asked for a better place to celebrate our honeymoon. We can’t wait to comeback someday!

This hotel/resort is amazing, despite being a fairly large hotel it manages to retain a small hotel vibe. It may be a 4 star resort but the service is definitely 5 star. We have been to many 5 star all inclusive’s before and the food and service at Amber beat them all. We walked an hour each way along the beach and within those two hours Ambre had the best beach. All the staff were amazing so it’s difficult to single out one particular person but Veena our housekeeper did a lovely job with our room. It is worth mentioning Dolce Vita and The Plage, both being amazing restaurants included on site and unlike many places you can eat at as often as you like as long as you book beforehand. The buffet food is also very good and the staff at all three restaurants go above and beyond. There are turtles just off the beach in front of the boat house, we tried paddle boarding for the first time (at no extra cost), and the turtle swam right under our boards. The 5 Islands boat trip is definitely worth the money, we went with Papas Dream, you can book with Chris who wanders the beach and pool areas. We don’t usually go back to the same place twice as there is still so much of the world to see but we would definitely make an exception for Ambre.
If I had to pick one thing to nitpick about, it would be the cost of any extras all being 4000 rupees about £80. One lobster meal is 4000 rupees, in the UK you could get 2 for that but maybe it’s not as easy to get there.

Big shout out to Akhilesh the chef who actually cooked me some green beans when they had ran out and brought them to my table! I didn’t even ask, he just did it!
The resort is beautiful and lots of stunning birds to be seen. But not forgetting “Scruffy” the sparrow who would make appearances several times a day from out of his bush by the pool.
Dolce Vita Italian restaurant is lovely and you can just walk in at lunch time. The food is superb and the service is excellent. Highly recommended.
Definitely think you should do the Five Island trip. It’s great!
If you want to spend time in paradise with lots of wildlife and stunning views, you should pay Ambre a visit.

As vegetarians, we were initially a little concerned about food options, but the team made sure we had a special experience every single day. They prepared different vegetarian dishes daily, each one more delicious than the last — it truly felt like a personalized culinary journey!
Everyone at the resort was incredibly welcoming and made us feel right at home. A special thank you to Suvidha Ma’am at the reception for her warmth and support, Ben at Indigo for treating us like family and making us feel completely at home, Chef Rupesh for the mouthwatering meals he personally curated for us, and Harsh and Javed at the reception for always being so helpful and making our stay even more comfortable.
Thanks to all of them, our stay was nothing short of amazing. Highly recommend Ambre Resort to anyone looking for a caring, personalised, and unforgettable holiday experience!

Gorgeous hotel and hospitality
A lovely welcome to the Ambre Resort from Nicoletta, we felt right at home. She showed us all the amenities and explained everything in detail. Love the hotel and the facilities, especially the pool. Highly recommended if you ever visit Mauritius!
A nice resort with a great sea and beach area. The food for breakfast in Indigo was good but we felt that the fruit selection could have been better. However, we found the evening meal average and bland in Indigo. We preferred to eat in Dolce Vita and La Plage...
A nice resort with a great sea and beach area. The food for breakfast in Indigo was good but we felt that the fruit selection could have been better. However, we found the evening meal average and bland in Indigo. We preferred to eat in Dolce Vita and La Plage where the food was much better. Thanks to Atish, Angie and Saelm for looking after us on the beach, in the restaurant and keeping our room clean, tidy and well stocked.
The free watersports were great and we made use of the pedalo and snorkelling trip. If you’re lucky you will see one of the turtles in the sea.

Stunning location right on the beach, all the staff work so incredibly hard and they all provide excellent service. Food was great we recommend the Italian on site (Dolce Vita) as it was beautiful views, lush food for both lunch and dinner. I complimented Shalinee (waitress) on a hair clip and she went out of her way on her day off to get me one!
Can't thank all the staff enough, especially the chefs in the blazing hot kitchens that produce wonderful food everyday. It's a shame other guests don't seem to appreciate as much, they are incredibly hard working making everyone's holiday the best it can be so a HUGE THANK YOU from us x we would definitely come back again. We also highly recommend the 5 island tour.....go with Chris (you'll see him on the beach!)

Honestly. This place is phenomenal. The view the second you walk in is breathtaking. Sets a very high standard that is exceeded in every aspect. The staff are so friendly, there is nothing that is too much trouble. The beach is stunning, the food is absolutely amazing (I don’t fit in my clothes anymore)! The drinks are great, I honestly cannot recommend this place enough. We are already planning our next visit! Me and my friend celebrated our birthdays while here and we got a cake at dinner! Didn’t expect it!! The sports bar shows the games you want, the TI bar is relaxed and great for after dinner drinks by the water. Just amazing. Absolutely amazing! Thank you to all the staff! Love Samantha, Liam, Matt and Alicia. See you next year!!!
