While we were in town for a wedding, the temps were in the single digits and we opted to spend more time in this nice warm hotel instead of going out sightseeing. The hotel is lovely, the rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the staff is friendly, pleasant and helpful. We ate in each of the restaurants and all food was delicious. The bed was also very comfortable. We enjoyed the decor and everything throughout the hotel was very clean. The parking charge was more reasonable than other downtown hotels I looked at and we were able to park in a garage rather than outside.
There are two things that you will want to be aware of when deciding to book this hotel. First, as others have noted, the bathroom is very small with an almost child sized toilet because that is all that would fit in the space. This hotel was built in the 1920's and the bathrooms were not as large as they are now. Second, the neighborhood is not one you will want to walk around in after dark, but it IS downtown and they have a homeless problem as many cities do.
Overall this was a comfortable and very pleasant place to stay and we would definitely stay there again if we find ourselves in Milwaukee.

The hotel itself was decent and the staff we encountered in person was very nice. However, we were charged for parking without disclosure or authorization. Parking was never disclosed in our booking confirmation, by the staff when we obtained a parking permit for the onsite garage, or upon checkout. We never had any reason to believe it was anything other than complimentary or included in our stay, especially since the hotel provides free parking for restaurant guests. We only became aware there was a parking fee when it showed up on our credit card statement. $40 for 2 nights! We probably would have been better off parking on the street.
Moreover, when I called to find out what this charge was, the woman working the front desk was incredibly rude and started yelling over me. We ended up having to dispute it with our credit card company.
I don't mind paying for something if I am aware of it. However, for everything to suggest parking was complimentary and then be charged for it without knowing is so deceptive. So much that I will not stay there again, nor will I be staying at any Wyndham hotels in the future given this and how this was handled. Despicable.

DON'T STAY AT THIS HOTEL FOR THE FREE FAIR SHUTTLE!!

My husband and I stayed here Saturday, August 10th, because we were going to Wisconsin State Fair. After arriving and checking in, which took a while even though I checked in online and was told just to pick up the key at the front desk, I still had to wait in line to get the key. So, what is the purpose of pre-check in?? The hotel is obviously very old. It has been renovated, but you can't take the old out of it. Let's just say it was pretty unique. The lobby area smelled weird. I couldn't put my finger on exactly what the smell was, but it was very unpleasant. There were a bunch of people in the lobby when we checked in and then I found out why. They only had one of two VERY OLD and VERY SMALL elevators working, so AFTER waiting 15 minutes, we eventually had to take the stairs to the third floor, which was not great because I'm over 60 and I have a bad knee.
Our room reeked of cigarette smoke. The smell was awful. The bathroom was teeny tiny, and closing the door it came within an inch of the toilet. The bathroom only had about a half a roll of toilet paper in it. Period. No other rolls were anywhere to be found. How does that happen? Even though the room appeared to be clean, the lack of amenities and the permeating smell of cigarette smoke put me off completely.
The MAIN reason we chose this hotel was because of their free shuttle. We waited for it around 30 minutes, and it never showed up. There were at least 20 people in line ahead of us, and they were all going to the brewers game which meant the shuttle really wasnt available to take us to the fair. When I called the shuttle the first time from our room after we checked in, the driver mumbled something about being in a car and then hung up on me. Unfortunately, in order to take the shuttle you have to call the number for the guy who is driving the shuttle. Now, does that make sense in the grand scheme of things? The answer is a resounding NO! Should the shuttle driver have to drive and set up rides? Again, I would have to say no. We went to the front desk, hoping they could help, and the only thing they said was that we have to speak with the shuttle guy directly. Which was impossible because he kept hanging up on me. We finally had to get an uber to the state fair which defeated the purpose of us staying in that particular hotel. We could have stayed in a much closer, much more modern hotel with a free breakfast, if we had to call an uber for a ride anyway.
Same thing when we were leaving the fair. I called the shuttle 3 times and 3 times he answered the phone and hung up on me. So, yep had to take an uber back to the hotel. And what was sitting in their parking lot?? The shuttle!! And no, it wasn't after hours. Don't say you have a free shuttle to the State Fair and back, if in reality, you cannot provide that service. It truly ruined our day scrambling around and taking ubers, because of the lack of that service.
This hotel was pretty exspensive but I figured we would save time and money taking the free shuttles, which obviously never happened. I wouldn't stay here again for numerous reasons other than the lack of shuttle service. The hotel is located in a pretty sketchy area. Add in the lack of free breakfast, no real amenities, the smoke smell in the room and the promise of a free shuttle that just never showed up and it was not a pleasant experience at all.
Take my advice, do more research than I did and stay at a different hotel. 《SIDE NOTE: ROOM SERVICE WAS ACTUALLY NOT TOO BAD. But very exspensive. These few items totalled over $60 and the 2 drinks in the bar cost $19.00.》
