We booked through Air Canada Vacations and got the standard room. While we expected it to be very small and simple, the room is not like their website photos. Broken and dirty furnishings and walls. Chipped tiles and door on mini fridge broken. There is also no housekeeping every 3 days, despite what they tell you. Our garbage bin overflowed and pile of dirty towels accumulated. Had to request toilet paper from front desk. On the plus side - we ate at the restaurant once and it was quite good. The resort grounds are also beautiful and very well kept. The villas may be nicer than the basic rooms.

We stayed 7 days at this little gem of a place. We booked a 1 bedroom apartment unit on the 2nd floor. This is an older hotel with lots of great character. The rooms are very clean and the bed was very comfortable. These rooms have adjoining rooms for larger family use. These rooms are very quiet. The breakfast is pricey and the food for dinner and lunch are very limited. The staff are very helpful and respectful. They have nightly entertainment with is done by 9 pm. The entertainment is very enjoyable and not loud. The nightly water show is so fun to watch and is different each night. This hotel is situated in in between Willemstaat and mambo beach, which is very convenient. The hotel offers free shuttle to both places every day. You can also book a car for a time as well as tours.

Probably one of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had. Stayed for 5 nights with my girlfriend and we were so disappointed with the hotel we ended up checking out one day early and staying someplace else.
First, what they called a deluxe room had no natural light because they spray paint the windows as a way to provide privacy since the "deluxe" rooms are on the ground floor. The room with the lights on were so dark we had to request a lamp just to be able to see what we were doing.
Our queen-sized bed was just two twins pushed together, which for a couple that likes to cuddle proved troublesome as the beds separated during the evening.
The Wi-Fi for our room didn't work nor did the safe.
I will say the staff was very helpful in fixing all of the above issues, until one of the servers from the restaurant prank called our room to tell us "There was a woman named Fabiana waiting for us in the lobby" The woman in question, turned out to be the alter ego of the server who called our room.
The restaurant itself is a joke, even without the above incident happening. Our first night we decided to eat there and waited over an hour for our entrees, even though we were only one of 3 tables eating there at the time. Drinks also took forever and were poorly made; food was decent at best but not worth the wait or the price.
Pool is ok but a lot of the chairs were broken, and no one cleans up during the evening, so we arrived in the morning to trash still under the chairs and on the tables. There is no food/beverage service until later in the afternoon. One day while lounging there were two young males rough housing at the pool, screaming, running and splashing around. Besides being unsafe it was pretty disruptive to everyone around and no one from the hotel asked them to stop or quiet down.
The hotel we ended up checking in to, Avila was far superior and we were so happy to have made the switch.

Very clean, staff friendly, Sunil (tour advisor) gave us great advice to navigate around the island and to chose fantastic activities. Perfect resort if you're looking for a quiet place to explore the island. I would not recommend if you're looking for activities at the resort.
Luxury and security at a affordable price

I have stayed at Acoya on several occasions. I like that there are several choices of rooms to choose from. I prefer the 1 or 2 room apartments because they have a balcony with a nice view. I like the fact that there is a different activity every evening and that access to the community is guarded by security.
