1 Hotel Hanalei Bay

My husband and I recently had the most magnificent stay at 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay! Our incredible experience was primarily made possible due to the amazing service of Lisa Hanson, our concierge. She helped plan our trip and took care of our reservations. Lisa demonstrates genuine kindness, joy, and professionalism. She is always cheerful and ready to provide top notch attention and service. Our room had a spectacular view of the gorgeous Hanalei Bay, coastline and ocean beyond. It was perfect for viewing the beautiful sunsets. Our entire stay was magical! We will definitely return and have Lisa Hanson do the planning our trip again. Exceptional!!!

The service, despite being friendly, was a tad unorganized and slow at times, but the view is absolutely priceless and made up for it. The resort fee feels like a strong value given the quality of the fitness center and slate of wellness activities, but parking is an extra cost. The beach amounts to a mostly private alcove in Hanalei bay (one of the most beautiful places on earth) and has plenty of included plush loungers. I’d avoid dining on property unless you have included credits - it was very overpriced and inferior to much cheaper options in nearby Hanalei.

Transformational renovation of the former St Regis. However, the 1 Hotel is not a traditional luxury hotel. Their target demographic appears to be a younger (or those trying to be) clientele who live a "sustainable, mindful, whole food" lifestyle (but interestingly alcohol consumption is excluded). Our Studio Suite was attractively designed and decorated with a full width window of a classicly beautiful view of the ocean and mountain peaks (from the bathroom shower, too). Pros: excellent quality linens, towels, and amenities; spacious sitting area with comfortable sofa; nightly turndown. Cons: dressing/closet area has poor lighting; television is not easy to see from the bed. Our wedding anniversary was acknowledged with a small cake We enjoyed our 3 night stay, but probably wouldn't return

The views were spectacular and the room was very comfortable. The beach and pool area are beautiful and relaxing. The bar has expensive drinks, but the views make up for it and are amazing, especially at sunset. However, the food at the restaurant did not feel five stars, especially considering the prices. For what you pay for the quality should be better. Overall, it's a beautiful property with great scenery!

We come to Hawaii every year and this year decided to spend our time in Hanalei, where previously we’ve just done day trips and opted to stay at 1 Hotel I had high expectations given the price tag and we were not let down. The views from our room and the beach were STUNNING. We enjoyed breakfast and coffee everyday at Neighbor’s. We ate lunch beachside every day ordering off the pool menu (the ahi sandwich and shrimp tacos were our favorites!). Service from all employees was great! The hotel or pool never felt crowded. We enjoyed the cushions on the pool and beach chairs but I do wish the beach chair cushions somehow could be protected from the overnight moisture as they were always soaked in the morning. One other touch that would be nice that’s often done at other luxury resorts is morning and afternoon “snacks” by the beach/pool staff (things like fruit skewers etc). Those are very minor and again we otherwise had a great time and will certainly be back! Kelsey

This hotel is such a special place. If you are lucky enough to stay here even once in your lifetime, count your blessings. The scenery and location are picture postcard perfect. The hotel is large but never feels overly crowded even during peak travel seasons. The bar and restaurant settings are second to none. The staff, for the most part, are very friendly and well trained. I appreciated the convenience of booking services and reservations via the 1 Hotel app. Our mid tier room cost $4000/night when including all taxes and fees. At prices like that, service expectations are very high. On that note, there were a couple of disappointments: 1. Housekeeping services in our room were spotty. Dirty washcloths were removed and not replaced each night of our stay, necessitating a call for more. Dirty glasses were also not collected nor rinsed and returned to their correct location. The hotel is very focused on sustainability, which I support, but this felt more like a lack of attention to detail. Bathroom toiletries were also not straightened up when the room was serviced Overall, an opportunity for improvement. 2. The beach seating situation is my largest complaint. There are about 65 beach beds on the shore. About 20 are available for complimentary guest use. The other 45 have to be paid for at eye watering rates each day for daily use. The 25 complimentary beds go quickly leaving guests with no other option than to either sit on a towel in the sand while the remaining 40 beds sit mostly empty or fork out a minimum of $400/day if you want a real place to sit. Again, at $4000/night, a beach chair to sit on is an absolute minimum service expectation. 3. Breakfast- we booked through Chase travel so daily breakfast for 2 was included. Keep in mind that if you have to pay for breakfast, the only option in the restaurant is the buffet which costs $75/person including taxes and gratuity. This was my second stay at One Hotel Kaua’i but I’m not sure if I will return.

Excellent stay. The setting is absolutely beautiful. From our intro with Matt to our check in with Dayna we could tell we were in good hands. Every staff member went out of their way to make for a wonderful visit. Despite the hotel being at high capacity over the holiday week it never felt too crowded. We had such a nice time we ended up extending our stay . Thank you to all the hotel team members!
