Our time in Fiji was GLORIOUS! Likuliku Lagoon Resort delivered beyond expectations - amazing people, amazing place, amazing memories. The biodiversity is astounding (and yet still a fraction of what once was). Likuliku is a Fijian-owned resort that leases from and works in partnership with the 2 villages on Malolo Island. They lease resort land from the village, 3% of profits goes to the village, right-of first refusal employment and meaningful employment leads to an exceptional employee and guest experience. The resort's conservation fund partners with global orgs on mangrove, dry forest, coral and species restoration efforts. They contribute to local education and food security initiatives. AND they deliver a 5-star resort experience that's among the best I've ever had. This is what win-win, responsible tourism can look like. protip:
we loved our over-the-water bure (room). Can't recommend Likuliku highly enough!

If you take the ferry it is a very long travel day. It takes two hours by ferry to get there. You have to wait for ferry that leaves at 9:30 am and our plane landed at 4:30 am.
Good new is once you get there your room will be ready. Our room was ready at 12 noon
Food.
In order to eat dinner here you are required to go to main dining room to eat. There is no room service option. There is no casual dining option. To have dinner you will have to sit through a two hour, 4 course meal. The food menu is very exotic and both my husband and I did not like the food. Dinner ranged from not edible to edible, nothing was good. I am not a picky eater but I hated the food.
The best food is at pool area for lunch. The pool food was good but not available for dinner. Service was always very slow but that is a Fiji thing everywhere. I think they should have a room service option of the pool menu. If they had the pool menu for room service, I would've been happy to have that as an option rather than going to the main dining room.
They do not include soft drinks or more than one water per day. If you need more than one water a day you will pay for it. I strongly recommend you bring a refillable water container. They will refill your water at the restaurant with ice and water if you ask.
Bugs:
I've never been so bitten by mosquitoes as I was by this resort. Even with my best efforts of bug spray, I still got bitten at night in our room. I have 15 bites on my face!!! I got them while I was sleeping. In the rooms, they should light mosquito coils at night and have netting for the beds, but they do not.
Activities
I did very much enjoy the two hours snorkel excursion per day. The excursion is an extra charge, but it's not that much and I felt it was very worth it. I highly recommend it. The house reef is also nice to snorkel at.
Spa
I did get a massage at spa. My massage was nice nothing really special there, but it was nice and I felt it was fairly priced.
The resort is spectacularly gorgeous being on a private island. It is very quiet and very secluded. I did like our room. I thought it was beautiful.
The main reason I did not like this resort is because the over abundance of mosquitoes that bit me within an inch of my life and the fact, my husband and I both hated the food.
I was grateful we were only staying there for three days because I was truly ready to leave.
The other resort were staying in Fiji isn't even all inclusive and they do give you all the water you want as well as free soft drinks in your mini fridge with no extra charge.
Keep in mind that if you book this resort that you are stuck on a private island with no other food options and nowhere to go. If you don't like it, you're stuck. I was grateful we only stayed there for three days.
If I stayed there for more than that, I would've been extremely unhappy.
A lot of people in the reviews rave about the food, I don't understand it. I found it horrible.
You may want to bring cash with you in Fiji dollars because they charge a 2.5 surcharge on your credit card to use a credit card at this resort.

Underdelivers against any standard - purely disappointing

Likuliku is being portrayed as a luxury resort and an exclusive experience, but lacked any of that from start to finish. In terms of value for money the worst place we have ever stayed at globally (we spend c60-80 days on average per year in hotels across all continents). We stayed for 6 nights at Likuliku and the location on a small island is pristine and looks like paradise upon arrival. The Likuliku team made a real effort to please whenever something did not work and we had to complain, but trying hard is not good enough - they mostly failed to achieve an internationally acceptable standard (let alone a 5 star standard). The service is the slowest anywhere in the world, nothing is proactive, and it takes 1 hour to get a meal on average. Quality of meals at breakfast, lunch and dinner is poor, for instance the “juices” are pure sugar waters for obese people, so they can upsell their freshly squeezed juices for an additional FJD25 each instead. Rooms are not properly cleaned at all and we had multiple bed bugs on two different sets of mattresses which we had to point out.
Moreover, this is marketed as a beach resort, but there is no opportunity to lie by the beach. We asked for an umbrella to spend some time by the beach, but it was not made possible. Repeated pattern is that whenever you ask for something and they don’t have a quick fix they just go silent and ignore the request without any further notice.
We are respectful that the resort is all Fijian owned, and we are very open to things working differently and embrace the local culture wherever we go. But when you charge 5-star rates you need to compare yourself to that standard. And we are not comparing this only to the premium resorts in the world but across categories: for instance we stayed at the Four Seasons in Bora Bora last year which is 4x more expensive, and are now in the Sheraton Fiji Golf Resort which is a fourth of the Likuliku room prices; but Likuliku fails against any comparable.
After all we would expect Likuliku to excel at promoting their culture better than most, but the abyss is reached when they accept that their customers get completely wasted at the pool, abuse other travelers with vulgar language and signals, but continue to serve these customers alcohol without stepping in appropriately. So even at culture they measure very poorly. Needless to say, we cannot recommend Likuliku to anyone and we are just incredulous how this place can review so well on Tripadvisor.

Bula! After much research prior to our first trip to Fiji, hubby and I chose Likuliku as the place to go - this resort is unparalleled in beauty, luxury, cuisine, and service.
The Bures are huge - the air conditioning worked great -- and the website photos just give a hint of the quiet Fijian luxury you'll experience. We had complimentary ice and cookies delivered to our room every afternoon, and our mini-bar was stocked with our purchased drinks and complimentary water. We could walk right into the ocean for a snorkel - I'm really glad the over-water Bures were sold out. Bure #46 with our ocean-front plunge pool and outdoor canopy day bed was perfect for us!
We took the 15-minute helicopter flight to the resort from the airport - super glad because the pilot gave us a mini-tour along the way, pointing out famous islands and surf breaks along the way. We were met at the helipad by a staff member with a golf cart and were greeted at the lobby by FIjiian singers welcoming us Home! It was real-life Fantasy Island.
The cuisine at Likuliku was phenomenal. We had different menu choices every night! So delicious. The portion sizes were just right for eating 3 times a day - nothing goes to waste here. Everything we read about how fabulous the food was is true. We especially loved the different cooler shots of fruit slushes that were offered as amuse-bouches at lunch every day.
The staff at Likuliku is first class, gracious, and so hard-working. They knew our names when we arrived and we saw the same people doing many different jobs throughout our stay. Whatever we needed, it was no problem. Even the rainy day brought new activities for us.
Note - the options for long walks or a morning jog are pretty limited. This resort is on a jungle island, so swimming is the easiest exercise. We didn't use their gym but did take advantage of an amazing sunrise hike excursion on their "Honeymoon Island".
I hope we can return to Likuliku. It was paradise.

When the overwater bures came into view on the helicopter ride in - my wife and I looked at each and said "home." We'd been there in 2022 and, bar none, there is no better location in Fiji to visit. The staff are warm and friendly. The rooms are both luxurious and comfortable. The reefs are pristine. Wildlife is abundant (because of the forward thinking of the Islands' chief). The masseuse was one of the most talented my wife had ever been to. The activities staff checked on us every day and worked with us to make sure our days were planned to perfect. When my wife had an issue on one of her dives - they cut the cost in half. We've traveled throughout Fiji and LikuLiku is, beyond a doubt, the best resort we visited.

We had seven glorious days at Likuliku Resort and loved every minute of it.
Being adult only, allows you to enjoy the solitude and privacy in and around your Bure, and for the management to concentrate on providing out of this world dining!! Wow!!
Food is included in the package and I would challenge anyone to find an issue with the variety of choices and preparation. Breakfast includes an a la carte menu of 17 choices plus basic cooked meals, along with a huge Breakfast Buffet.
Lunch is 3 courses and dinner 4 courses. In 7 days no repeats!!
The Bures are serviced everyday with a full service, including washed floors. Towels and sheets changed at your wishes. One thing of particular interest is the quality of the linen. The sheets are soft and smooth while the towels are big and the fluffiest. There is a choice of 3 types of pillows.
There are three ways to get to the island. The Ferry from Port Denarau, a fast boat(direct) or helicopter. If you take the ferry, you get transferred to the resort in small boats to their jetty.
The most important part of this beautiful resort is the people. Fijians are the happiest, friendliest, and most generous people. Nothing is ever a problem for them, and this definitely shines through at this resort.
I recommend this resort 100% and am sure we will return.
