VVR is a 5-star experience, across the board. The cabins are well-appointed, very clean, roomy, and comfortable. Love the cozy beds after a full day of activity! The housekeeping staff does a great job keeping everything neat and clean. We've stayed in different cabins over the years and they are all great. We love that they come stocked with snacks and drinks too. Bring your appetite - the food is fantastic. Top quality ingredients, wonderfully prepared meals/desserts, and a great selection. They are really attentive to allergies/dietary restrictions too. VVR offers so many fun activities, there is something for everyone. You have to try everything at least once!
You will never be bored there. And if you are looking for some downtime, there's nothing better than grabbing a book and reading by the fire in the Great Room, or going for a massage. VVR has a number of after-dinner activities, which are really fun. Music Night is my favorite, they are so talented! I have to say the staff really makes VVR an extra-special place. They go out of their way to ensure guests have a great experience. It's a lot of fun getting to know them too. VVR hires only the best, and it shows. Each staff member truly gives 200%. Looking forward to visit #13 next year! There is a reason so many guests return - don't miss out!

The food is was amazing and the staff were friendly and accommodating. They even made me a birthday cake! Everything we’d hoped it would be. To top it off, on our last morning, we got to see 2 moose across the horse pasture on the hillside.

We had a wonderful time at this ranch. I was amazed at how many guided activities they had in addition to skiing. I didn't ski, but I snow shoed, did the horse clinic and went riding. The meals were prepared with us in mind. We are vegans and the meal choices for us were exceptional, even the special desserts they made for us. Our room in the lodge was very luxurious and comfortable. The Great Room was a wonderful place to hang out and stay warm. The staff was very attentive and organized.

Just finished another wonderful week at Vista Verde. It was my 12th visit. Vista Verde is the only ranch I've visited more than once. The staff is wonderful; kind, happy, caring, and just a pleasure to be around. The horse program is great! The horses are well taken care of, and are strong and focused. Good for experienced and inexperienced riders. They offer riding clinics to help with your riding skill. The trail rides are beautiful. They also offer river fly fishing, hiking, biking, yoga under the aspens, or you can chose to hang out. It is like a camp only for adults . (Sept is adults only.) There is a barn dance where they walk you through doing line dances, and a live band and dancing one night. When you leave, you spend 20 minutes just hugging the wonderful guests you've met. About 50% of the guests during our week were returning guests. I've met wonderful people, and have become close friends with them even outside of the ranch. If you're going by yourself, which is what I did for years, don't worry, the guests and staff make you feel welcome. This is an all inclusive ranch, with gourmet meals, beautiful accommodations, and you only pay if you want to fish on private waters or take a balloon ride. We've been here in the fall and winter, and both times are magical.

Vista Verde is one of a kind. I've been there more than 10 times, in the fall and once in the winter and just love it. The people are fantastic; they make you feel welcome and a part of their ranch family. There horses are really good, and the trail rides a lot of fun. I've taken the clinics to improve my riding while at the ranch which has been very helpful. Moving cattle is an amazing experience and makes you have a lot of respect for people that do it all of the time. If you're not into horses, they also have fly fishing, and you can even arrange to go to private waters to fish. They offer cycling, hiking, wine/beer tastings, cooking classes, and a barn dance that is so much fun. They have live music one night, and the dancing continues.
I've been to 5 other ranches, and this is the only 1 I've returned to. The cabins and rooms are wonderful, the food delicious, and soaking in a private hot tub under the stars is amazing. They have outstanding customer service and will try to accommodate any request. And having it all inclusive is perfect!
Each year when we plan what vacations to take, visiting Vista Verde is one of my non-negotiable must haves.

The Best Honeymoon We Could Have Asked For

My wife and I spent six nights at Vista Verde for our honeymoon in early January, and it was the best vacation either of us has ever had. Everything about our stay far exceeded any expectations that we had, and we will definitely be back as soon as we can.
The grounds are absolutely beautiful - it is truly a winter wonderland. We stayed in the Dome cabin, which was perfect for a couple. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted with a complementary bottle of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries. The heated bathroom floors, extremely comfortable bed, and complementary humidifier (a Godsend given how dry the winters are here) were highlights of the interior of the cabin. Our favorite parts of Dome were the private hot tub and view of the winter horse pasture. It was amazing to sit in the tub and watch the horses while the snow and wind whipped around us.
The cleaning staff will handle your room however you like. We chose to have them come each morning, and each day they made the bed, replaced all towels, and straightened the cabin. The staff also comes each day to clean the hot tub and re-balance the chemicals.
Nearly all of the activities (of which there are many) are included. Our favorites were tubing, beginner horseback riding, and guided snowshoeing. The every-other-day nightly activities like barn dancing and trivia night were also a blast.
The food was an incredible blend of elevated and approachable. The chefs constantly created fresh, unique, and delicious food. There was too much good food every meal to try it all. Our favorites were the duck ragu pasta, hanger steak, BBQ night, and vanilla waffles.
Last, but certainly not least, was the staff. Every single staff member that we interacted with (guides, wait staff, ranch hands, front desk staff) were incredibly nice and seemed to truly love what they do. Any and all requests were granted without question. They made the experience truly memorable and pushed it over the top.

Best luxury ranch in Colorado
Fantastic experience. Healthy, well-trained horses. Fantastic staff ranging from housekeeping to chefs to guides, front desk, hospitality. Food is delicious and there is something for everyone. Here, all inclusive means no hidden resort fees and beer and wine are included. Gorgeous mountains all around. Excellent property layout.

As I sit in North Carolina watching the snow pile up in Steamboat, I am reminded of so many amazing visits to Vista Verde Ranch.
Our first visit was in 2005, our last in 2020 with 11 in between. We have met so many wonderful people, some will always be our lifelong friends.
As we have gotten older (we are both now in our 70s), we enjoy just walking around the ranch in snowshoes; visiting with friends at the nortic center, at the indoor arena, sitting in front of a beautiful fire in the lodge with our favorite book. . Having amazing meals with old & new friends is a new experience every day.
Sitting in the hot tub at our cabin mornings & evenings
with our favorite drinks (which are always available in our frig), walking or riding to the mare barn or the pasture just to pet the horses or feeding the heard from the sled are activities that we so look forward to.
So..no matter your age or your activity level… you will never find a more accommodating vacation than Vista Verde Ranch!!
