Excellent dining and bar. Rooms spacious with great view of Potomac River separating WV and MD. My only complaint is lack of accessible outlets to charge phones, laptops and tablets. Of the 6 outlets available, 4 were inaccessible (behind bed, couch and bar) and of those, 3 were completely full (refrigerator/coffee maker, nightstand light/clock, nightstand/landline phone). 1 was in the bathroom between 2 sinks - not a safe place to charge electronics and competes with hair dryer/electric toothbrush/shaver. The sole remaining outlet was close to the floor between the bed and bathroom- inconvenient place to charge electronics. A simple $20 charging station with USB A/C ports and multiple outlets on the writing desk would solve this problem and move the establishment into the 21st century.

My wife and I were looking forward to returning to the Bavarian Inn once again because our previous visit had been a wonderful experience. While the food and service continued to be excellent, our room was very disappointing. As had been the case on our previous visit, we reserved a Potomac View Premier room. The room was very worn out. The carpet was stained and looked dirty. There were several dead flies in the bathroom. The furniture appeared old and showed lots of wear and tear. We do not mind spending hundreds of dollars for an upscale room as we did for our room, but this particular room fell far short of upscale and was not worth what we paid. Based on this experience, we are not sure if we will return to the Bavarian Inn for an overnight stay despite the great food and service.

Booked 2 nights for big wedding anniversary. Front desk staff not well trained and we had to keep asking if we could check in. Finally got to our chalet room on bottom floor. There was a dehumidifier in the bedroom and outside of the room. The bathtub did not drain for over 6 hours. The king size bed had huge slope in middle and found pills on one of the heating units. Had drain and bed (broken slats) fixed the next morning. Asked house keeping about dehumidifier and they stated there was mold in the closet outside of the room. This was all unexpected and unacceptable for $425/ night. Food at inn was good for breakfast but not dinner. Wait staff were very friendly. Needs improvements especially for the cost of room and meals.

We stayed in a Manor View Premier room in the Schwarzwald Building. It was so charming and cute. Since we went in November, it was chilly and the fire place in the room made it so cozy. I noticed some people commenting on the cleanliness.Even though the rooms are older, as expected, our room was clean.
All of the staff that we interacted with were very kind and friendly. Check in and out was quick and efficient.
We had drinks at both bars, the cocktails were great and the bartenders attentive despite being busy. We had dinner in the brewpub section of the dining area. (Make reservations if you want to make sure you get a seat) Our server, Sarah D, was so great! She gave great recommendations and took great care of us. The food was delicious. We ordered way more than needed but we wanted to try it all. Wild boar, fried goat cheese, braised rabbit, and jaegerschnitzel.
Overall we had a wonderful time and it’s definitely worth going at least for a night to check out this unique experience!

German food was bland (wiener schnitzel)….spaetzle — maybe a table spoon of it on plate…everything cold (on a 10 point scale maybe 3), told wait staff…she took it and it came back with food temperature about a 6 luke warm. Then some “official” guy (whose short, tie) came over toward end of there meal and asked how we enjoyed the food. I said my was very cold. He was the kind who asks a question and dosen’t even listen more care to hear an answer…he said nothing. What a shame…my partner took me for Father’s Day. No longer is one of my favorite restaurants, within 1 hr 20 mutes from where we live. Will think twice about ever coming again.

Worth a visit at least once.

The main building is nice with three dining options. The menus are similar and the food was pretty good. I recommend the downstairs for dinner and the upstairs brewery bar for drinks.
The staff was great.....

Absolutely blissful quick getaway to Bavarian Inn. Great service and food. Accommodations were perfect. Staff were all friendly and helpful. We took a great hike on C&O canal as well! Cant wait to go back when the pool is open for another visit.

My wife and I were traveling through on a business trip and I wanted to stop for lunch and a pint since they craft their own beer.
I had the Crab Cakes and a Carol’s Royal Stout. The small portion of the lump crab was small. Very tasty, but small. The whipped potatoes were not whipped, had no flavor and they were cold. The asparagus was cooked well but cold. The Hollandaise sauce noticeably cold. The stout was plain. Looked like a stout, tasted like a light beer.
My wife ordered the Schweinebraten. Traditional roasted pork loin with sauerkraut and potato dumpling. Instead, she received the a special of the day Pork Shank, Brussels sprouts, onions, and butternut squash mash (I think). All the vegetable dishes were cold. My wife just couldn’t do the pork shank.
The server was apologetic. She was young and was trying very hard. She just got it wrong. My wife decided she couldn’t eat anything after.
The manger was very nice when we came in and accommodate us with great consideration. However, that was it. Never came by to ask about food. Shouldn’t he want to know if the food coming out of the kitchen was good. Isn’t that part of the position. Unless German food is served cold, the chef should be embarrassed.
I left very disappointed.

Overall has the makings of a great experience (provided you eat in the pub area) with the exception of the F&B leadership… it’s obvious they don’t train their staff and these poor servers are just thrown to the wolves.

Stayed in a room with a scant view of the Potomac River and on a bottom floor so we heard footsteps above. Made the reservation more than 6 months ahead of time and a repeat visitor. The room had wet carpet from a leaking AC and you can tell they don’t fix it because the baseboard was rotting out. Front desk didn’t care because the place was full. The pool is nice though.
