Reviews of Bearskin Lodge On the River
A wonderful winter stop. Way less crowded in January and February.
Great place to stay in Gatlinburg. Next to the bypass making getting into and out of Gatlinburg much easier. Many choices of different sizes and cost of rooms. We love the Lodge look and feel of the Bearskin Lodge. The free Breakfast is always delicious and hardy.
Christmas Lights in the Smokeys
Overall a great place to stay. Clean comfortable rooms, convenient location and great staff. Everyone at the front desk was extremely helpful. The hot cider and cookies were a real treat. The great Housekeeping crew came every day and kept our room in tip top condition.
Comfortable clean home away from home in great location to Parkway.
We had 3 rooms that had a river view. It was nice seeing and hearing the river. The rooms had a fireplace in each of them, we used them in the evening while sitting in comfortable chair. Gift shop and snacks in the lobby was nice. They had free cookies...

Also, the location is on the quieter west end of town. The tram stop is close, or you can walk 2 blocks to the action. Peddlers steakhouse and Bennetts oven-fired pizza place are right next door, and the trailhead is right there for the hikers.
Really enjoyed our stay!

Right in the middle of everything!
Bearskin has great people first and a nice facility as well. We love the balcony and the rustic furnishings. Very clean as well. Very close to great restaurants and shopping. Great Smoky Mountain park couldn't be closer. Just an ideal spot for a Gatlinburg visit.

Clean and comfortable. Towels were thin and toiletries poor quality. We were there 4 nights, housekeeping skipped one day of cleaning. Rugs with their logo were in bad need of cleaning. Fire pit was nice, but right next to pool filter building, which was very loud, so not relaxing. Reasonably priced, close to national park and nice that it wasn't on the main Gatlinburg strip, though restaurants and shops were easily walkable.

Great spot for a vacation stay
Excellent location, beautiful along the river in back, friendly staff, clean, well kept rooms.
Sits very near a short easy trail, the beginning of Newfound Gap Road Highway 441 . Many eating establishments instinct walking distance. Just a block behind the main thoroughfare where all the shops are

We LOVED the Bearskin Lodge! It's very close to the National Park entrance, so it's easy to avoid the chaos of the village. We had a room on the riverside with a balcony overlooking the river. We could hear it even on the 5th floor. It feels like a mountain lodge even within the village. There are hotels behind, but we found that the higher room numbers on each floor seem to be more private. There is smoking just below the balconies in the groundlevel parking garage, so I'm not sure if first level rooms would notice it. We had a room with 2 queens and it had a small table and two chairs as well as a couch and chairs on the balcony. We loved the fireplace and used it everyday. The bathrooms are lovely and the entire grounds are well maintained and very clean. There are many amenities including a nice continental breakfast, a small pool and lazy river that are heated and a nice firepit we enjoyed one evening with other guests. We used the laundry facility, but had brought our own detergent and quarters ($2/load). All the staff is excellent, but we had the most contact with Amber and Shantel on the front desk and Saudia in the dining area who all made us feel most welcome. If we ever return to Gatlinburg, we will definitely stay here and highly recommend this hotel!

We decided to take a last minute getaway trip for 3 nights, and Bearskin had all 3 nights available. We wanted a king suite overlooking the stream. Great choice! Location was absolutely perfect for us - close to the entrance to the park and close to some of our favorite restaurants. Also very close to the bypass, so very easy to hop over to Pigeon Forge.
A bit of a hiccup when we arrived and were given our room keys, only to find housekeeping wasn't quite done with the room yet. After a short wait the supervisor came by and was so apologetic and very accommodating. The entire staff at the hotel was very friendly.
Room was clean and very quiet. The pros - quiet room, comfortable beds, clean. USB slots in lamps. Huge shower with instant hot, and I mean HOT - water. Cons - no door to close off toilet, and (this is a big one for us) no personal safe for valuables.
Rooms are rustic themed, but kinda dark. Had to turn on most all lamps to light the room. We had a fireplace but didn't use it. Breakfast was typical continental hotel type breakfast, but coffee was excellent. Oh, and the cookies and lemonade every afternoon! We'll definitely stay here again!

Beautiful room and view. Walking distance to everything but on the quieter side of town. Free trolley within steps. The pool and small lazy river were a bonus during the heat wave. We did see a bear next door, definitely take the trash out of your car and lock it.

We spent three nights here and really enjoyed our stay. Our room was quiet and comfortable and the AC worked great. The shower pressure was good and we never had any issues finding a parking spot. It’s within walking distance of many restaurants and points of interest. The staff members were always polite and helpful.
The pool and lazy river are tiny. The website photos are misleading on their size in my opinion. We have an above ground pool at home and this hotel’s pool is less than half as big! The lazy river is so small I don’t even know what to compare it to. So be aware if you’re wanting pool time that you’re probably not going to find this hotel’s pool to be anything to write home about.
I’m still giving it 5 stars because overall, it’s lovely.
