Nestled in the heart of the French Quarter, Hotel Provincial is a charming and historic boutique hotel that offers honeymooners a glimpse into the rich past of New Orleans. Owned and operated by the Dupepe family since its opening in 1961, this intimate hotel is a testament to the enduring spirit of hospitality.
A Family Legacy:
Hotel Provincial’s story is one of family, history, and preservation. In 1959, Vernon and Eunice Dupepe purchased the site of the French Market Ice House, which had been lost to a fire. From those humble beginnings, the hotel was born, with the original building featuring 44 rooms. Over the years, the Dupepe family expanded the property by restoring and converting historic buildings surrounding the parking lot into charming hotel rooms. In 1972, the 500 building was the final addition, bringing the total number of rooms and suites to 92. Today, the hotel is proudly run by the third generation of the Dupepe family.
Boutique Elegance:
Hotel Provincial exudes an old-world charm and elegance that is perfect for honeymooners seeking a romantic and intimate escape. The hotel’s quaint courtyards, lush gardens, and historic architecture create an ambiance that transports you to a bygone era.

As honeymooners, you’re just steps away from the vibrant culture, music, and cuisine that make New Orleans famous. You can easily explore the city’s historic streets, lively jazz clubs, and renowned restaurants.
Peaceful Courtyards:
The hotel’s peaceful courtyards offer a tranquil retreat within the bustling French Quarter. It’s a serene setting where you can enjoy quiet moments together and perhaps even plan a romantic al fresco dinner.
Historic Character:
Each room at Hotel Provincial is unique, showcasing the historic character of the property. Antique furnishings, exposed brick walls, and wrought-iron balconies add to the charm and authenticity of your stay.
Personalized Service:
The Dupepe family’s commitment to hospitality shines through in the personalized service provided by the hotel’s staff. They go above and beyond to ensure that your honeymoon is a special and memorable experience.

Only place to stay for me. This is the third time I’ve been to NOLA and the third time at this Hotel. Clean comfortable
This is my third time in NOLA and third time at this hotel. Besides the absolute best location the hotel had comfortable, clean, affordable rooms with attention vet staff and The Best Bartender in the city - James- say hi to him from Nancy and Joe
Worst experience ever. 3 rooms in 4 days. Last room the sewer backed up into the bathtub. Street noise and not completely updated. The staff just kept apologizing and giving free drink cards for the bar. The ONLY positive was being in the French Quarter.
French quarter New Orleans hotel
Lovely boutique hotel in the French Quarter of New Orleans. One block over from Bourbon Street. Very quaint and comfortable. A real gem. Lovely rooms, beautiful courtyard. And a pool. Staff was helpful and friendly. Their bar was also very customer friendly. And welcoming.
Quiet and comfortable five-building hotel in the French Quarter

We never heard the music festival music from our room, which faced an interior courtyard valet-only parking lot. The bar and bartenders at the Icehouse Bar here were great, and the drinks inexpensive. The room -- in one of five buildings, with ours having an elevator -- was clean and comfortable, and the shower had all the hot water you'd ever need. Beds (they didn't have a King available for us) were comfortable, and the daily cleaning service was fine. Breakfast was at a physically-connected, but not financially-connected French Toast, which was convenient. We were able to walk to the bars in the Bywater section where the Poetry Festival was being held, and it's a short walk to Cafe Du Monde. We'd definitely stay here again.

As first time visitors to New Orleans, we weren't sure where to stay. Hotel Provincial was the perfect choice. We loved the location, close to everything but not on a busy street. We spent most of our time in the French Quarter and Treme, and walked over to Frenchman Street to listen to music. The hotel has a charming feel, with several courtyards to linger. The hotel staff is friendly and helpful, and we enjoyed our 2-for-1 drink at the bar which was a nice little perk.

Sometimes when your new in town, you just get lucky. We toured the southern states starting in Miami, and ending at New Orleans. If your going to stay for a few days you want to be in the French Quarter. This gives you the French Market, the riverboats and the music ( Oh wow, the music). You are within walking distance of lots of excellent restaurants and we felt quite safe walking out at night. People are....quirky, but friendly. If your going to be in the French Quarter, then you want to be in the Hotel Provincial. Great location , easy to find ( Remember to ask your Sat Nav for Chartres Street, not Rue de Chartres). It's not cheap, but it is good value for money. There is an inner courtyard with a fountained seating area and a pool. The rooms are a good size with lots of amenities and comfortable beds. The bathroom had everything you needed and again was a good size. There is no breakfast, but 100ft away is a restaurant called "Toast" that serves a great and eclectic breakfast, try the French toast ! The staff are brilliant, very professional and always helpful. The young lady who helped me try and check in for our flight was just so professional, dealing with me, and a host of other people who came to the desk. If you go, say hello to Dave for me, he parks your car and really looked after us. The only down part is the parking price at $45 / night. BUT this is central New Orleans, so I'm afraid that's the going rate. A Wonderful stay in a wonderful hotel. Thank you hotel Provincial.

We had some bugs in the room but managed to dispose of them. The drawers didn't come all the way out because the bed was in the way. Overall a pleasant stay in a busy area of New Orleans.

We spent a few nights here in our way to a wedding in MS. We chose it based on the reviews and were happy we did. Perfectly located in the quarter to walk everywhere, though it was quiet. We were upgraded upon our arrival to a lovely room that faced both the pool and the garden. The staff was great (hi Kellie and Tazia!) and we felt like found a little home away from home. The adjacent breakfast was fabulous with great people watching. See you the next time!

Small bar off the lobby, open 3-9. Lovely patios for outside gathering. There is a pool. I didn’t see a lot of lounge chairs.
Rooms in the back may be quieter than than the ones street side. The street is not super busy, and I liked hearing the clip-clop of the horses hooves out on a tour. Every morning there are service trucks, then it quiets back down.

Excellent hotel in a great location that is walking distance from everything but quiet so you can have a refreshing beverage in the courtyard, take a swim or enjoy their bar. Parking onsite with easy access is another plus. Staff was very friendly, courteous and helpful!

We were not in a courtyard room, our room was in a completely separate building at the back of the parking lot but this didn’t matter to us.
Would’ve loved to use the pool but the weather wasn’t on our side during our stay!
We enjoyed a drink in the courtyard which was nice.
Only minor thing was the cost of valet parking, it was >$100 for 2 nights, however we did feel at ease knowing our car was parking securely.

Lovely historical hotel in a superb safe location with great “French Quarter” vibes. Onsite parking available- but no need as we had no car and didn’t need one- Location is GREAT- you’re able to walk anywhere in the French Quarter and beyond!
Rooms are located in two areas-
one connected to the lobby/pool area, the other opposite the inner court parking area. Both have charming courtyards, with beautiful water fountains & plant/floral landscaping.
We stayed at the later, and enjoyed a great street view (floor above us had an outdoor balcony )- both floors had great views for Mardi Gras street parades, but we chose exit the hotel to street level and watch the action directly- super convenient! The other location has rooms surrounding the pool.
All the staff members were outstanding and accommodating- Lobby/check in/out staff and parking attendants were super helpful with providing directions and suggesting activities. Appreciated having “actual people” on site who are knowledgeable about The French Quarter & the New Orleans area.
Complimentary coffee, tea and water available in the quaint & pretty decorative lobby which was nice. There’s a small bar on site, The Ice House that had served a good Happy Hour.
