My husband and I stayed at the Inn for 2 nights, midweek. The Inn is a short drive to downtown Woodstock, and is in a nice setting backing up to the river, with outdoor seating, and plenty of parking. All the rooms overlook the river and have small private balconies, with rocking chairs. The bed was comfortable, the room was clean. The entire inn was quiet and inviting, especially the dining room, which was nicely decorated. We had a nice dinner one evening and Ryan took excellent care of us during dinner. Complimentary buffet breakfast was average, pastries, scrambled eggs, etc. The Inn also had a library room with a pool table and a nice area to relax with family. We did not use the pool. The Inn does need some updates, including changing all the carpets, updating the bathrooms, and some paint. Thus my 3 star review.

The only down side to this hotel is the restaurant and bar are closed every Tuesday and Wednesday, as are a number of restaurants in Woodstock. So i would encourage anyone staying (on a Tuesday or Wednesday) to pre book your restaurant in the village. There are also no taxi services available which also limits options.

We thought the inn was nice but not outstanding. Room size was good. We had a riverview king. Bed was comfortable. Girl that checked us in was interesting, and asked us twice what our name was after we gave it. We were there at the busy time during fall foliage and I got the impression they were a bit overwhelmed. Room rate was pretty steep but everything is in Woodstock at this time. Location 5 miles out of town so not walkable and unfortunately there is little parking in Woodstock if you intend to shop. We weren’t there to shop so not an issue for us. Had dinner the first night in the bistro and had a wonderful meal. Breakfast offerings were adequate . Lots of pastries, bacon, potatoes, etc.We would stay there again, but if our plans included walking around town, we would pay the money to stay in town.

We stayed here for 5 nights in October 2024. It's a nice hotel, but nowhere near worth the nearly $500 per night it cost us during the height of the fall leaf-color season. For that price, I expect a plush bathrobe and slippers in the room. None were found. I also expect housekeeping to replace my used glassware (coffee mugs) and to clean the in-room coffee maker. Nope. And finally, turn-down service with chocolates on the pillows should be provided at that price level. Nope. That said, the room was comfortable and spacious (we had a king suite).
Our stay started with the front desk person not even acknowledging us when we walked in. He looked at me with a kind of "what are you doing here?" expression. No "welcome" or smile or anything. A most off-putting start to our stay. When I called to ask for a few more hangers, he said he'd try to find some, but replied "no promises" in a way that sounded like he really didn't want to be bothered.
Breakfast was nice, but the only type of eggs every day were scrambled. That got old, but most people probably don't stay as many days as we did. The breakfast staff were pleasant as was the daytime front desk person.
In summary, I wouldn't really recommend staying here during the fall. The Inn would be fine for $300-ish a night.

We were disappointed in our stay at the 506 On the River Inn. The beds were way too soft, the pillows way too hard and everyone seemed to find it necessary to slam their doors every time they entered or left their rooms.
The inn seemed clean but in a state of disrepair. The patio screen was broken and the furniture looked like it came from a thrift store. Many of the fixtures were corroded and the place needs work.
The staff was not friendly except for the two bus staff in the dining room. I went to use the sauna but it was turned off.
Overall not a good experience and I was happy to leave.

Clean, comfortable, spacious. Weather was not great so did not explore the grounds down to the river, but lovely to have a comfortable sofa in the room to have an afternoon of reading and rest part way through a long road trip. Good swimming pool. Great restaurant (the lobster mac and cheese was lovely, as were the cocktails!). Good breakfast. Friendly helpful staff. A bit noisy late one night but that was due to other clients enjoying those excellent cocktails and not showing regard to others.

We ate at the bar after being told the dining area was filled for the night. After 2 hours there were as many tables still open in the dining room as when we got there so we weren't sure what was going on with that, maybe a staffing shortage? The bar was beautifully done but rather uncomfortable to sit at. Your knees hit the bureau like piece that was underneath the bar top. Weird, as you had to almost sit sideways. No backs on the stools so things were a bit awkward, but we adjusted. Our bartender was a little rough around the edges but very efficient. Our food and drinks came at a good pace and were delicious. We both had the salmon with mashed potatoes (so creamy!) and carrots in some sort of sauce that was sweet and incredibly delicious as well. Great food, cozy atmosphere, very efficient service.

We stayed here for 2 nights on our tour round Vermont.
Our room was very spacious and comfortable with amazing views down to the river. The bed was very comfortable. The shower was good and the bathroom was also very roomy.
Everything was spotless and well maintained. We loved the collection of antique furniture and knickknacks that were in the rooms and communal areas. Really added to the feel of the hotel.
Breakfast was excellent with a wide selection. Unfortunately the restaurant and bar were closed on the days we stayed.
There was no housekeeping when we stayed but reception happily helped with anything you needed.

Well, well the "labor shortage" has hit Vermont pretty hard and it's very evident here at the 506 On the River and throughout Woodstock. What does a $400/night room look like to you?? We arrived at 5:45pm on a Sunday and there was no one at the front desk. I waited and around and finally found a very nice lady in the bar who offered to check us in. While checking in a man appeared from down the hall who was the desk clerk. He looked at me with a dead pan look and simply said "name"....no welcome, no..I'm sorry I wasn't here, nothing..just "name and fill out the highlighted areas on the top page. Great first impression??? We were given a room on the second floor as I had requested. The rooms are average size (Courtyard or Hilton Garden Inn size) with worn out brown carpet , average size bathroom and a decent porch/patio with 2 chairs and a table. Our bathroom came with one sink, shower, toilet, 3 bath towels, 1 bar of soap....that's it. No hand towels and no washcloths. Two electrical outlets in the bathroom vanity....oh, sorry, there are 2 more behind the door...yes. on the wall behind the door!! Due to the porch and the worn out brown carpet the rooms are very dark and have almost a dank feel to them. Our room never felt clean. There is no housekeeping. If you need additional towels you must go to the desk and they'll give you a plastic bag with additional towels. All this for $400/night. There are no employees on the property from 11pm - 7am. The public areas of the property are very clean and well maintained. The breakfast is very well done and the ladies running the breakfast area are terrific. Be aware....due to the labor shortage almost all of the local restaurants have limited hours and days they are open. Most are closed Monday - Wednesday this time of year or only open for dinner. Overall this property is overpriced for what is offered and the service is poor. It's clear there is very little leadership here and it's minimal offering more maximum $$. Do yourself a favor and spend a few extra bucks and stay at the Woodstock Inn in town.

Stayed for one night (pre booked) on a road trip from New York to Syracuse. Located just outside the pretty town of Woodstock, the hotel has lovely grounds going down to the river. This would be a brilliant place to stay with children (including teenagers). Staff all delightful and helpful. We loved the indoor pool, sauna, and bubble pool. Rooms are very spacious, although corporate rather than twee. However, this is more than compensated for by the many artefacts in the public areas. Food good, although the breakfast buffet reflects the current challenge of hiring staff.

We mostly enjoyed our stay here, although I have to say the guy who checked us in was really grumpy and rude. I tell myself perhaps he was just having a bad day? But the rest of the inn was really nice. The rooms face the back of the inn, which has a huge lawn leading down to the river. There's also a small pond, a fire pit, gazebo, some lawn games… we left the door to our balcony open overnight, and we could hear frogs and birds when we woke up.
Our room has everything we needed, including a fridge and microwave. The inn has lots of extras like a swing set for kids, an indoor pool, water dispensers… The breakfast was great, and the rest of the staff was friendly and polite, including the breakfast staff. But I have mixed feeling about our stay here.

The hotel was absolutely amazing!
It is a gorgeous hotel with great views of the river and beautiful inside and out.
I only did not give five stars because I specifically chose the hotel for the availability of the pool and a few days before we left the UK I got an email saying that the pool was being cleaned and was not available.
We visited in mud season so we were one of only two parties booked in, so I can see why they decided to clean the pool at this point, but it was disappointing nonetheless.
This is definitely one of the most beautiful hotels I have ever stayed in. Parking is free and at the front of the property and breakfast is lovely (it is normally a buffet but as so few we’re staying it was made to order).
