Excellent accommodations. Great little bar and outside area. Close to the waterfront and easily walkable to most bars and restaurants. Lots of shopping in the area. If you're in Portland, consider staying here. We had a great time and they offer afternoon tea and cookies as well as had a Christmas wrapping station.

I would not recommend this hotel. Parking is $45 per day and they charge a resort fee of $35 per day. This is all in addition to your nightly room rate. There are a lot of other nice hotels in the area. I suggest you look at those before booking...

Good hotel. Great location. But as others have said WAY too many hidden fees! Poorly explained and seem very sketchy. Constantly run out of the amities that they charge a “resort fee” for providing. Service is meh. Should be great for what they charge.

We stayed three nights October 18th, 19th and 20th before finishing our trip off by visiting Bar Harbor. Unlike another recent review left by someone regarding the temporarily out of commission elevator, someone brought our luggage up to the room during check in without us even asking. We stayed in the Garden View room. The room was modern, clean and spacious. The Harbor Bistro restaurant is inviting and the food is delicious. However, my husband and I both ordered a cocktail which we could not drink due to the awful taste. But hey, not all bartenders are created equal anywhere you go! The server understood and brought us wine upon request. She did not charge us for the initial cocktails. I will add the Waffle Fry Poutine appetizer is fantastic and such a large portion that we could not finish it. My husband had the Monk fish tacos and I ordered the Seafood Fra Diavolo. The tacos were good, but the dish I ordered was fantastic. Although we did not go out to the garden, plenty of others did to enjoy the fire pit. Most importantly, I am specifically writing this review to mention the wonderful service of Anna upon our check in. I wish everyone in the hospitality industry was like her. We had a problem with booking our stay through a third party vendor. She was very understanding and sympathetic to our concerns and frustration. She took this upon herself to get this solved. I'm only assuming due to the mix up with booking, we returned that evening after walking around the harbor to a charcuterie board, champagne and two glasses. Wow, she went above and beyond to make our 20th anniversary special! I haven't written a review on Trip Advisor in quite sometime, but made a point to login and leave this review all because of Anna. She is a real asset to the Portland Harbor Hotel!

We were pleasantly surprised by the hotel because of mixed reviews. First, it was gorgeous inside. Everything was immaculate! The staff was so helpful and friendly. We understood the valet parking fee because we would pay that in any downtown city. The room was spacious and clean. We loved the little refreshment/snack stand on each floor. We loved sitting by the firepit on the terrace each night getting to know the other guests. Biggest plus was location!!!! It is so perfectly located downtown! The staff would send texts periodically to make sure we had everything we needed. They certainly provided everything we needed. We ll definitely return!!!!

5th time at PHH. Location is excellent but it's resting on its laurels. Starting to show signs of needing to be re-carpeted. Staff is friendly but overworked. Meal service was extremely slow and bar tender was a fill-in for a no show who had started at 6 AM and was still going but clearly worse for the ware. Also, they have started an absurd resort fee of 35/night and don't explain that they count the time as 12 PM to 12 PM the next day with no carryover. We checked in at 10 PM our first night and lost that money which is unfair. This is a hotel and not a resort and I hate those fees as did the other couple we were with. It was possible to get it credited back if you spent it on food/drinks or at the "store." So we were buying 7 bags of almonds at 5/bag just to get our money back. The fire pit is very nice to sit around in the evening.

You may even know that the parking is an extra $45/night. But you may not know that when you check in they hit you with an "amenity fee" of $35/night, which supposedly covers things like wifi and the gym. You can get "credits" against the fee if you buy something in the hotel, like a drink or breakfast. BUT, and they will LIE to you about this, the "day" ends at midnight. We specifically checked and they said it runs "11 to 11", so breakfast on the next morning would earn you credit for the previous charge, BUT it is not true; we did NOT get credit for the breakfast on the day we left, which should have been on the previous day's 11 to 11.. So you think you'll eat the expensive breakfast at the hotel because you'll get credits. The food is nothing special, just adequate. But on our departure morning we went at 7, when it theoretically, according to them, opens, and it was just one disaster after another. Our food did not come out until 7:40, and one order, supposed to be just biscuits with gravy (it only takes 40 minutes to make that if, what, you haven't even started) had two sunnyside up eggs on top. Ugh. The person they were for is allergic to eggs, never mind that there's an additional charge on the menu if you order them. The waiter said, "When the chef asked how you wanted the eggs I just told him like this!" WHAT???? So they went back. And it took *another 20 minutes* until the biscuit (just one, despite the word "biscuits" on the menu) came back. Then there's all the small stuff. No coffee in the room - unacceptable. Only one wineglass, for Pete's sake. The armoire looked like it had been dragged up a flight of concrete steps, so deep and wide were the scratches scarring the side. The world's chintziest hairdryer - what, you think we're going to steal it? And the elevator is small, slow, and infrequent. /end rant. But seriously, stay somewhere else.

She basically gave us our room number and key. There were amenities offered that we knew nothing about until the day we checked out. It’s in a great location that allows you to walk to most destinations. Other than lack of communication at check in everything was very nice.

We had a wonderful experience at this hotel except for a few small things. The location is excellent, the room was clean, updated and awesome, the staff were friendly and there was a concierge type of amenity outside of the elevator that was fabulous! Instead of having a coffee maker in the room (I hate that because I can't make noise when my husband is sleeping) they put one out in the hallway and offer lots of great things like bags of ice in cooler drawers, coffee, tea, water, seltzer, cookies and pastry depending on the time of day. Candy for the kiddos too and fresh fruit like apples to go. This was wonderful to access. The only frustration was the restaurant had little to no hours that they were open. It seemed to be closed all of the time but we just must not have hit it right. The good news is that there is plenty in the area for great food. We dined at Scales and it was incredible. Didn't love Street & Co. much at all and loved taking the ferry to Peak's Island and rode bikes around the island. Have fun and def stay at this hotel!
